16:9 on a 4:3 TV
I have a JVC HDD camcorder and recorded some video in 16:9. I would like to create a DVD that has the same aspect ratio, but can also be played on 4:3 TVs without any cropping. When you buy a widescreen commercial DVD and pop it in your DVD player, it just puts it in a letterbox mode with the black bars on the top and bottom. This isn't what happened when I made a 16:9 DVD with the revolution theme. Anybody have any ideas for me?
... just check the set up menu ... you should be given a choice of 'Pan and Scan' (shows a 4:3 section of 16:9 image) and 'Letterbox' for TV screen type.
