16:9 Resolution List | Why The 1.85:1 or 2.39:1 Ratio Wasn't Standardized?
Hi. The 16:9 resolutions can be seen on the Display Control Panel in the System Preferences but where can a complete list of just 16:9 resolutions be had including those below 1280 x 720 if any and those above 2560 x 1440 for future displays higher than 2560 x 1440 should there be Retina Displays for all Apple products (I feel next year)? The list could be useful when you want to check the aspect ratio set by some applications.
[It's great the 27" iMacs and Cinema display have 2560 x 1440 which even Blu-Ray's resolution cannot match; it'll need to be stretched which will effect the movie's quality coz' algorithms to stretch or shrink images will never be perfect. The IMAX resolution probably is the only one that can trump it but when Retina Displays are put in the iMacs and Cinema Displays, I think it'll be able to match the IMAX's resolution equal it (hopefully bandwidths will be way faster within 3 years for downloads this big) or even surpass it; either one would mean a single display needs to be bigger than 30" (hopefully lighter) using the cinema's aspect ratio (wrap around Avatar type display maybe?). Retina Display is a great propriety technology invented by Apple definitely]
By the way, it's sad HD wasn't standardized to match that of the cinema's aspect ratio which could have gotten rid of the black borders for all HD displays including TVs which could have reduced seeing the light leaking on the sides of backlit lit displays like LCDs (cannot be avoided because it's hard to contain light unless maybe black automotive silicone used in Lamborghini windshields is used to seal the sides). Why didn't they standardize HD base on the cinema's aspect ratio anyway? Thank you in advance. Gbu.
It doesn't really matter since you can either watch the videos on the iPT in their native aspect ration, or you can force it to fill the screen and cut off the sides. Not everything is in the same aspect ratio, so no matter what one they chose, somebody wouldn't be happy!

Why is it that after upgrading to IOS 6, I could not retreive my full list of my purchased applications & ganes list in the app store now !!!!
Whenever I try to tab my purchased in the update feature of app store; not only does the long list of my previous purchases do not showed up like in IOS 5 do but after a while it just prompt out to the main home page. I tried this for both my 3GS and 4GS too and both have the same problem. APPLE INC please rectify this serious problem as soon as possible.Did you read your other posted question, that has been answered.

Used to, I could organize my drop down book mark list from the tool bar, in alphabetical order from A-Z by clicking on view, sort by, select . Now every time I add a new bookmark it goes to the bottom of my bookmark list in Unsorted bookmarks . I can go to the bookmarks and sort the menu in Alpha. order. However, when I go back and drop down the bookmark list from the tool bar, the new bookmarks are still in the Unsorted list at the bottom. The bookmark's menu may or not have them in assorted list. This occurred several updates back. Why can I no longer sort the drop down book marks list in A-Z alph. order? This is a major obstacle when trying to search for a particular bookmark that I have made in the not too distant past.
That did solve my problem. Madperson Thank You Very Much!!!!! I'm not real literate on the mechanics of working computers even though I use them all the time. Basically I'm a point & click kinda guy and beyond that I'm pure novice! This is going to save me a lot of wasted time.

Updates come through Software Update not the App Store. If you have to reinstall Lion that is done via Internet Recovery.

I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
Does anyone know why Iphoto decreases the resolution of my pictures when I edit them?
And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?

Are the photos raw photos or jpeg? When you edit raw photos in iPhoto on your iPad, the raw image will not be processed, only the embedded jpeg. That will reduce the resolution of the image considerably.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
How do you save he edited version after editing? That will determine, if the image will be scaled down,

iPhoto on a Mac has a lossless workflow. iPhoto will always store the original image file that you imported and compute an edited version from this stored original. The quality of the photo you will see outside iPhoto will depend on the methode you use for sharing. You can export at the original size or scaled down, depending on the purpose you want teh photo for, small for email and web presentation, full versions for printing, for example. -

Why the difference between the Extension list and the Plug-in list
On my Extension list I can see -
Java Console 6.0.22 Enable
Java Console 6.0.23 Enable
Java Console 6.0.24 Enable
Java Console 6.0.25 Disable
The old versions have been disabled.
On the Plug-in list I can see -
Java Deplyment Toolkit 6.0.250.6
Java Platform SE 6 U25
If I check via the Control Panel I appear to have only
Java 6 Update 25 installed.
Why the discrepancy?
Why do I still see references to older versions, and presumably not on the computer any more, shown on the Extensions list?That link was most helpful. Opening FireFox as an Admin, something I had never thought of, allowed me to remove the dead wood from the 'Extensions' display.
Previously, the only way I could be certain exactly what was actually available was by visiting Control Panel ... Programs and Features

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. -

I used Match, and now there are artists missing when I search by artist, yet they are in my library when I search by song. If they are in many song list, why aren't they in my artist list? Also I can't sort my songs list by artist on iPhone, so their music is basically lost in space....help
It's not clear from your post, but you do realise
that if you import a cd as a compilation, it will not

I wasn't aware of that. It's true that I haven't been using the "compilation" tag for a long time. I've only started using it with iTunes 7 as otherwise with Coverflow I would have one album cover for each artist in a compilation. Before that my compilations weren't tagged as such as that is quite probably why each artist from compilations showed up when browsing by artists.

I have been using mac products for many years and recently I moved from Greece to Albania for work purposes.
When I heard that Albania isn't listed in the iTunes store i couldn't believe it until i saw it my self. Why isn't it listed.. big telecomunication companies like AMC (Cosmote) and Vodafone are selling apple products (iPhones, iPads, iPods etc.) and apple hast even listed Albania in.. isn't this insane.. how are people even suppose to buy songs, apps or anything???
It is a huge problem guys.. please give me an answer if there is a way for me to purchase songs or apps withought being listed in itunes and still use iTunes to download them I would be more than grateful!!!!!There is another authorised Apple store in Albania at "Casa Italia" Building, close to the main roundabout in Tirana.
It is very stressful not being listed as a country, when authorized shops exists. This lets me think that Apple is aware that their product are being sold in Abania and that people are buing them, but still isn't taking steps to change this. I mean, even such discussion is taking place in their Apple Support Communities web page (in english) ... c'mon, someone should do something about it and i trully don't think it takes that long to make the change.
I believe people feel discriminated by this, although I do belive that this isn't Apple's intention. Choosing another country doesn't feel right.

Because Oracle says that's the way it has to be.
As @MohaAGOU said, starting in 11gR2, the Listeners (both SCAN and traditional) are now cluster resources. Let's start with the SCAN Listener. There are only 3 of them, even if you have 4 or more nodes in the cluster. If a node goes down and a SCAN Listener were running on it, Grid Infrastructure will relocate the SCAN Listener to a surviving node. Much easier to do this if the entire resource were in the GI home. Note that an instance cannot be relocated and it is running on a different home.
As for the traditional listener. The Listener itself won't be relocated during a node termination, but its VIP will.

Having synced my ipod, there are certain artists missing from the list on the ipod, but the tracks are there under the songs list. Any reason why and how do i correct this. Thanks.
We'll assume for now, that all the songs and albums in your iTunes Library are correctly labelled (dangerous assumption, by the way!), and that a Compilation album is one with songs by different artists. Unfortunately, the music industry (bless their little cotton socks!) often mark an album by one artist, that has a collection of their songs from old albums, as a compilation! iTunes doesn't think it is!
The missing artists will be those who only appear on Compilation albums. For example, if you have one song by Fleetwood Mac in your Library, and it's on a multi-artist Compilation album, then Fleetwood Mac will not be listed in the Artists menu. But, if you then import a Fleetwood Mac album (or even a Fleetwood Mac single) into your Library, then not only will Fleetwood Mac appear under Artists, but the song by them in the Compilation album will also be listed.
One way to sort this out is to remove the Compilations option from the Main Menu and the Music Menu on your iPod. To do this, go to Settings/Main Menu/Compilations and press the Select (centre) button to turn off the tick. Then repeat this in the Settings/Music Menu/Compilations.
You should now find the missing artists listed in the Artists menu.
By the way, I now routinely check all albums I import from CD into my iTunes Library. Before I start the import procedure, I make sure that Compilation CD is turned on (highlight the album in the import window and right-click/Compilation CD) if it really is a multi-artist CD - and off if it's a single artist CD. Once imported, I manually change the album info to; (highlight album and select ) File/Get Info/Info/Album Artist has "Various Artists" in the box. Make sure it's the Album Artist box, not the Artist box.
