16:9 to 4:3 without lost wide ratio

must convert from HDV 16:9 to 4:3 without breaking the concentration wide ratio or losing side columns (the video with black bars above and below). Is this possible? how?

I don't think you can use Compressor for this, you will have to bring your 16:9 video into FCP. There you will create a 4:3 sequence (standard definition?) and place your 16:9 video into it. You will then scale it down until it fits. There will be black bars on the top and bottom (called letterboxing.)

You should have backed everything up before doing that. The IOS devices are not meant to be for storage.
Do not let it sync. Find a 3rd party program and transfer and then I highly recommend keeping regular backups.

  • Backing up Ipad without lost Password

Is it possible to backup an Ipad first generation iOS 5.1.1 WITHOUT a password if I have forgotten the password used to do previous backups?  I do not need to do a Restore.  I have tried doing the backup in a computer where I have never backed up this Ipad (there is no previous backup files) and iTunes continues to ask me for the password when I unclick "Ecrypt local password". Thanks

I think your comment is best answered by the second paragraph of the warning in the article I attached above:
"If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device."
You said "... I find odd that I cannot make a backup no longer choosing to use an encryption password."  That does not seem odd to me, and here's why:  At one time, the person making the backups decided they should be encrypted.  Now, that person doesn't recall the password.  Without recalling the password, should they be allowed to simply decide future backups should not be encrypted, even if they do have access to the i-Device whose data is being backed up?  I think in the general case there is at least there is some reason for caution.

  • Can I re-arrange HDD's without lost of data?

I'm using an Apple Xserve RAID with 6 Samsung HDD's in RAID 0 mode connected only to one of the two controllers because of lack of RAM on the second controller (the first one has 512mb and the other only 128mb). Unfortunately the current speed of data transfer witch is about 125mb/s doesn't completely satisfy my needs and I’ll have to use the second controller. So I intend to connect 3 hard drives to each controller and here comes my question - if I simply move the three hard drives to the other controller, shall I loose any data or the Xserve is intelligent enough to see what I've done and merge the drives so they can be used again without the need of being formatted again and losing my data? The second controller is already upgraded to 512mb of RAM.
Thank you in advance for your opinions!
    Regards,
    Andy

William's right. The second you pull any single drive from that 6 drive raid 0, that data's toast. The data may still on the drive, but the array is gone and you're not going to have any way of getting to it. We once had to reset a controller, and one of our new guys didnt know you had to jam the thing in pretty hard so it snapped properly, and surely enough, when we booted it back up, 2 of the drives on our raid 5 went red. When we powered it down, reseated it properly and powered it back on, surely enough, even though the data was all still there, that array was long gone. Im not quite sure about the utilities option to rediscover an array and how its worked for others, but it's never worked for us.
With that said, I don't see how (2) 3 drive raid 0's stripped together is going to perform better than a 6 drive raid 0, especially if the 2nd controller has less cache than the first. Cache aside, you're pretty much taking your 125MB/s, slicing it in 2 by spliting up the drives, and multiplying it by 2 when striping them together, so you're back where you're started.
I'd start out by getting another drive, backing up your stuff, making it a 7 drive raid 5 to get some redundancy at least, and it'll go a slight bit faster... if you need it going faster than that, bite the bullet and fill both sides.

is there a way doing that without any complications?

You will not be able to transfer music not purchased from iTunes from your phone to your computer, or any photos that you may have transferred to your phone from your computer (i.e., Photo Library photos) without using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy.  (You may want to re-rip your CDs to your new iTunes library and use an app like PhotoSync to transfer Photo Library photos as a more cost-effective solution.)  After dealing with that, the procedure to follow to establish syncing with your new computer without losing other date is outlined here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.

    - Contact a data recovery company
    - Maybe after restoring via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos

  • How to reset my iPod touch without lost the games I paid

I have iPod touch 4 version 6.1.6 and the battery is gone very easily even it was charging all the night maybe overcharging and now is frozen sometimes could you help me what do I do

I'm a little unclear regarding what you've already done so I'll start from the beginning.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site.  If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Move my Itunes Information without lost playlists, ratings, etc.

    Hello,
I'm using Itunes 7.0.2.16 (the last one that work over W2k) this is my work laptop (the Itunes Directory is in the HD) and the company recetly change my profile to a diferent user. The thing is that I did't change yet because when I start Itunes in the new profile this doesn't recognize library, playlist, ratings, etc.
If I re-scan the hard drive to search for music it finds everything but no playlist and no ratings :S.
Please don't tell me that I have to organize 160GB of music again... it took me like one life...
I still have acces to my old profile so I can still use the itunes that works fine.
    Thanks.

Before attempting to update your library iTunes should have made a backup copy of it in a folder called *Previous iTunes Libraries*. Rename your existing *iTunes Library.itl* file as *iTunes Library (BROKEN).itl*, then copy the most recent backup into the iTunes folder and rename it as *iTunes Library.itl*. Start iTunes. Hopefully this time it will make a better go of the upgrade.

  • How to crop without changing aspect ratio/Crop mode

Is there a way to crop in Lightroom without changing the aspect ratio? That is my first question.
My second question, is it better to use APS-C crop mode on my full frame Sony A7R if I know at the focal length I'm gonna crop, or just take it full frame and crop in the software? Are there disadvantages to this when it comes to uses flash's etch?
Third, Currently I do not have a portrait lens as the Sony A7R is new and does not have many lenses out yet. Until the 90mm lens comes out I was thinking I could use the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 in Crop mode for a portrait lens. That would make it around 88mm would it compress the background nicely the way an 85mm lens normally does for portraits?

This is what I usually do, now I know for sure my aspect ratio has been locked. As far as shooting in crop mode though, what I meant about that is this; For portraits, if you take a 55mm and shoot a portrait with it, the background doesn't look that compressed, which I like. Even if it's at a good F stop. It'll be out of focus, but not "compressed" And seems to show more flaws in the person. This is why with my Canon I always used my 85mm or my 100mm. I know some who will only use a 200mm due to this type of compression that happens at longer focal lengths.
If I was to shoot in crop mode, making it 88mm, would it give me that affect? The compressed look I get from a 85mm? Or would it simply just crop it like I do in post and not really make a difference.
Sony has yet to come out with a portrait lens and I need one bad, I've been offered little jobs here and there and can't take them because I don't want to disappoint them. I'm waiting for their 90mm, because that is close the 100mm and 85mm I shot with on the 5D for portraits.
Not to same the subject here but,  'Benjamin Root Photography,' has been a great help to me on this forum. I also torn between getting the 16-35mm F/4, or the new 24mm F1.4 prime, for wide landscape shots, because landscape and hiking is where I do most of my photography.
I don't plan on actually shooting a landscape at 1.4, but if it's 1.4 that means if I stop it down to F 8 on a landscape it'll be tact sharp. But it is not a Zeiss and is only going to cost 500. On the other hand, there is the 16-35mm, still I'd shoot around F 8 or even higher for landscape, the problem is, if it's F/4 won't that mean it'll have to stop down much further than the 24mm to get a sharper picture?
I don't guess I can go telephoto, like anything over 100mm because I have the A7R. People say over 100 mm it has shutter vibration, so at 200 or 300 I wouldn't buy until the A7R ii comes out. I'm not willing to get the regular A7 ii because I really like the advantage of having all those megapixels for cropping purposes, and it just plain looks better. Which is why I took my Sony A7 back for the A7R. Everyone was saying the photo's were more impressive than the 5D Mark iii's with the Zeiss 55 1.8 vs 5D with 50 1.4L. That wasn't really the case with the A7, but when I got the A7R I seen a HUGE difference in dynamic range.
I've heard the A7 is better at focusing than the A7R, but since I switched to the A7R I have noticed literally no difference. But I don't shoot fast moving subjects.
With both cameras I notice the face detection and EYE AF is hard to get to work properly. If I let it auto focus fully It'll focus on the wrong thing a lot of times even though the green boxes say the right thing.
So, I have been putting it on a single point, keeping it at the center, focusing on the eye, and then recomposing. That's mostly how I did with the 5D anyway. I never allowed it to choose focus points for me either.

  • Lost translation ratios in BCS

    Hi,
we are using the curency conversion functionality in BCS 4.0. Exchange rates, exchange rates types and indicators as well as translation ratios have been defined in the system. However the system "forgets" the translation ratios in every new period and they have to be entered again. This also happens with past periods.
    Thank you for any hints.
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
I may suggest that you use a currency with indirect quotation.
In this is the case, enter translation ratios for BOTH quotations, for example:
    YourCurrency to USD as 1:1
    and
    USD to YourCurrency as 1:1.
Certainly, ratios might be not 1:1 in your case.
    Hope it helps,
    Eugene
