16:9 video in Encore- Can I get it letterboxed on a TV?

There are a number of aspect ration threads I've found, but none that quite solve my issue. I have an Encore CS4 project that includes a number of video clips. All but one of them are 4:3 and play fine on a TV. But I have one video that is 16:9 (1280x720) and it is getting squeezed when it plays from disc. (I note that because when I export as Flash and play it, the 16:9 video looks great.)
Is there a setting I can change to have this video play in letterboxed form on a non-widescreen TV?

UPDATE: Based on other posts I have tried a couple of things, but with no success. I used the 'Interpret Footage' option to try and change the pixel aspect, but no change there. I also went back and deleted the asset, reimporting it and changing the transcode settings as I did. Also no change once I burned it to disc. The video still plays back as a 4:3 image, squeezed to fit.
Any suggestions out there?

Yes, the project is SD. But the asset I am dealing with was created in Flash originally at 1280x720 and then exported as a MOV.
I played with it in Premiere and can export it at 4:3, faking the letterbox somewhat, but it's not perfect.
I also experimented with the DVD player settings, but not a perfect solution there either.

Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

The wording of your question suggests you may be new to video editing, in which case the types of projects you will be doing may not be the most complex.
Please accept my apology if that assumption is incorrect.
The cheapest computer available will edit 1080p video perfectly well but if you must have the "best" you will be looking at nothing less than a MacPro.
Too many people get hung up about the equipment they use and blame it for any inadequacies . . . when the most important component is the operator.

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to import the videos.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

If you have a back up with the video on, you'll need to restore your phone, if so is your back up in iTunes or iCloud.

IOS 5 Cleared My Apps/Photos/Videos - WHY? Can I get them back?

I backed up my iPhone before updating to iOS 5. After installing iOS 5 and restoring the phone, my apps, photos, and videos are all gone.
No other iPhone updates have this this, why did iOS 5?

I just encountered a similar problem, but just as frustrating.
Yesterday I updated my iPhone 4 to OS5, and as it finished restoring, there was a message prompting an 'unknown error occured'. I found that all of the original data was present though, apart from the fact that all of the apps I ever had were now on my phone, randomly arranged. I decided to deal with it later today.
Meanwhile, today I took a couple of hundred pictures. So tonight, as I wanted to sync them to iPhoto, iTunes prompted me to continue restoring first, as it found the process wasn't complete yet. Unknowingly, and given the fact that I've been through this process more than once, I opted for the restore to be completed, only to find my apps nicely arranged, and all data from the last day erased. This is highly frustrating.
For the sake of completeness: I tried resetting, never interrupted the process nor disconnected my iPhone.
If anyone knows a remedy, I'd be most thankful.

Possibly a very basic question but I have set up a spread sheet in Numbers and have viewed help videos but I can't get it to give me sums for the columns I highlight. Keeps coming up with the figure zero. I have version 09 2.3(554). Can anyone help

I have viewed the run through videos and used the formula but nothing happens apart from giving a figure of zero or a red arrow. The sum icon in the bottom left hand section of the window does not highlight or show any total as I understand from the video that you can drag whatever total is here onto the relevent position on your spreadsheet. I have Numbers 09 version 2.3 (554). Can anyone advise. Thanks.

To sum a column, use a formula such as this one in Cell A6
Type this in a cell below your data:
=SUM(A2:A4) or whatever range of cells you want to sum. The easy way is to type:
=SUM(
and then drag or shift-click to select the range of cells. Close the formula with a final bracket ")".
The sum icon in the bottom left hand section of the window does not highlight or show any total
To see the sum (and other simple statistics) in the bottom left, select a range of cells. That tells Numbers which cells you are refering to.
The videos are good, but the Numbers'09 User guide, and the Formulas and Functions User Guide are better. Download them from the Help Menu in Numbers.

What can you use in place of flash to watch videos?

You can always use the integrated Youtube app to watch videos from Youtube without needing Flash. However, there are some flash videos that can be viewed with the help of an app called "Skyfire" and "Skyfire VideoQ". The first is a web browser that processes some Flash videos and the latter being an app dedicated to processing Flash video URL links.
Flash used to be very common and was a platform that most websites depended on for videos and animations but with the introduction and widespread of HTML5, flash is not as neccessary to enjoy videos on the web on iOS devices since they do support HTML5.

Have Premiere Pro CC, Need Encore, Can't Get to Premiere Pro CS6

I had CS6 subscription, upgraded to CC a while back. Until about a year ago, I hadn't downloaded Premiere Pro because I don't usually do that kind of video editing. Now I have a video project for my family (a lot of them elderly) that I finally completed. I know I'm supposed to download Premiere Pro CS6 to get Encore, but when I follow instructions to download the previous version, Premiere Pro isn't in the list in my product manager under "Find New Apps." So I can't even download an older version. I have got to get this movie on DVD because most of the people viewing it won't be able to just download it.
There's another link in the forums that takes you to a site where you can download every previous version of Adobe products known to humankind. Doesn't work for me. Goes into my downloads folder and just sits there.
Please, somebody tell me what to do now? I've hit the height of frustration.

Oh my god. I figured it out. For anyone having the same issue, it was really so simple I'm kicking myself. I forgot I had a freebie CC account for personal use, as well as the paid one for business use. 2 different email addresses for logging in. I was logging in with the free one. You need to have a paid CC account to access the Premiere Pro CS6 download from your CC App Manager. I logged in with my other email address and bang, there it was.
Just for your own edification, Mr. Waller, when a woman comes in and asks a question she probably already is aware of system requirements, etc. You did not answer the question. If you had read fully my question you would have noticed I've already downloaded Premiere Pro CC, so telling me to make sure my machine meets system requirements is a waste of breath. What you did is called "mansplaining." It is the equivalent of patting me on my little female head and sending me on my way to let the big boys do all this techie stuff. You have no idea my background with technology. Mansplaining is neither warranted nor acceptable. Even if you thought you were being helpful, even if you didn't realize that's what you were doing, it is nothing less than sexist and insulting.

So can you see the thumbnails in the video folder? If so, try dragging the thumbnail onto the iPod icon and see if it works that way.

Hi all. I. Bought videos from iTunes and also bought the lowest amount of extra iCloud storage. I assumed the videos could be stored in the cloud and called back automatically to the iPad when I needed them. They won't all download, Apple hasn't answered my call for help via e mail, and I don't know what to do. I deleted stuff from the iPad and got rid of some of the videos I'm not watching (hoping to maybe download them again later on).
I don't get how the Cloud works, and I don't really know which article to read for info. HELP?

Not all video is available for redownload.
Purchasing more icloud storage has nothing to do with itunes purchases.
Itunes purchases ( the ones that are made available for redownload) are automatically available in icloud. you do not have to purchase any icould storage for this.
You should not delete anything. you should always have a backup copy.
Movies are only available for redownload in the U.S:
Learn more about which content types are supported for iTunes in the Cloud by country, as well as where iTunes Match is available.

Mirrored my imac temporarily to my video projector now can't get imac screen back to standard viewing (shows as if a side monitor is added)

I recently mirrored my imac to project some videos. I now want to return my imac to regular use and standard screen presentation but find it remains in the mode as if i have an external monitor connected to it with the monitor on the right side. My imac screen only shows roughly 2/3 of the image, as if there is another monitor connected to the right side. I've disconnected the projector, tried turning mirroring off, searching for displays, putting the computer to sleep. I keep getting this same visual set up.

I actually had zapped the PRAM several times (and even reset PMU) but did not think to do it with the DVI->VGA adaptor removed, so I just tried this. Unfortunately this didn't solve it. After removing the DVI-> VGA adaptor from port 2 and zapping PRAM (twice), I now am getting an "unsupported input" message on the monitor connected to Port 1 with the DVI->VGA adaptor still removed from port 2. So if anything this state is worse.
This is very strange--because when I put the DVI adaptor back on port 2, the situation returns to where it was before as described. After a hardware reboot I have the aqua screen with missing login window again. It seems zapping the PRAM did not do it here. It also seems this DVI->VGA adaptor is definitely having an effect on the situation. Why would connecting a DVI-VGA adaptor on port two cause port one to regain function and why would removing it cause port 2 to go dead essentially?
At any rate, I am still unable to use the computer...

Importing video into Flash --- can I get a Transparent background?

I am using Flash CS3. I am importing a Quicktime video into
Flash through File > Import > Import Video.
Here's the problem, though. I need this video to be
transparent. It appears that all videos imported into this method
have a black background. It makes sense, because usually the video
fills out the entire black area. However, with a video that needs
to be transparent, the black background shows through.
This movie will basically lay over a webpage, so the content,
graphics of the site would be visible behind the video.
What I'm trying to accomplish is very similar to what you see
at the bottom of this page:

We've worked out the technology, however using the File >
Import > Import video method adds a black background to the
Flash file, rendering it solid, not transparent.
Is there a way to remove this so the transparency is active?

If the video was created with an alpha channel
(transparency) then you have to choose the option to import the
alpha channel in the video import wizard. If there is not an alpha
channel, then you will get the black box. It might be possible to
make the video a movie clip, and play around with the blend of it,
but I don't think you'll have much luck. So, your first step is to
figure out if the video was created and an alpha channel, then make
sure you have the option selected when importing.

The program is doing great on computer but cutting the slideshow in half on the dvd.
