16 bit 48Khz audio recording on iPhone?

I am looking for an audio recording App that records audio in 16bit 48Khz quality. Does anyone know if it is possible, if so, what App does it?
All the Apps I have seen to record Audio only go up to 44.1Khz.
I thought I saw one somewhere that did it, but I can't find it now.
Cheers,

You need to change the length of the song sections and turn on "automatic" for your recording, see this Help page:  http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/2.0/index.html#chs3c3ef5dc
Change the length of a section
Open the song section controls and tap the section you want to change.
Tap the up or down arrow next to Manual to lengthen or shorten the section incrementally by bars. You can swipe vertically to change it in larger values.
If you want the section to match the length of your next recording (to the nearest bar), turn on Automatic before you record. This is especially useful when recording improvisations or longer parts. The Automatic option is available only for the last (rightmost) section in a song.
Tap anywhere in Tracks view to close the song section controls.
When you shorten a section, any regions extending past the end of the section are shortened. When you lengthen a section, all regions that extend from the beginning to the end of the section now loop to the new end of the section. A section can be any number of bars, and the overall song can be up to 320 bars long.

  • Logic not opening 64-bit 48khz audio files.

I recently tracked drums at a studio thatuses Cakewalk Sonar 6. The audio files are consolidated (into 16 54 minute strips) and on my hard drive now, but Logic will not open them for some reason. I have my Mac and Logic in 64-bit mode. When I try to import the files, it changes the session to a 48khz session. Anybody have this sort of problem before?

If your files are 24bit / 48khz, (as originally recorded)... all good (you can check in the "Audio Bin" window where this info is displayed). As above, Logic will automatically switch the session to match the file rate, but if it is converting your audio files unintentionally, you need to un-check "Convert audio file rate when importing" (File> Project Settings> Assets> Assets : "Convert audio file rate when importing").
If your files are still not opening, it could be a Sonar export / compression issue - maybe best to check with the studio you tracked at?

  • Best retina laptop for audio recording/film scoring

I already asked this question in a non audio based forum, and was looking for anyone who may use similar programs to me. (The original advice was great, but with all the changes Apple has made, it's difficult to make a decision)
I currently bought a rMBP i7 dual processor with 8 GB ram and am considering going for a return to upgrade to the 15 inch for it's quad processing potential and larger RAM capacity.
I am a seasoned composer and do quite a bit of audio recording. (I've been using Logic 8 on a quad processor iMac with no problem, running Stylus RMX, reason, digi performer (yes, someone still uses it) all at the same time)
Does anyone have any strong feelings about this?
I hate that you're stuck with what you buy these days, and I know the non retina route is available, but I fell in love with the retina.
Anyone have any personal experience on this one?
    Best-
    JP

Thank you all for reading. If anyone else is having this question, Get the 15 inch w/16 Gigs and the 2.7..
If you don't have other computers, you should go non retina, but if you're going to be using a lot of intsrument librarys, plugins, etc.. You'll grow out of the 13inch in a year.

  • (iPhone) audio recording max. frequency?

    Hello,
What is the maximum audio recording frequency on iPhone?
I suppose 96kHz is not possible but how about 44.1?
I only need mono/8-bit recording. 16bit would be bonus but not necessary.
    Thanks.

Look at the SignalScope app, I believe they have the specs. Supposedly the regular phone mike is filtered above 8khz, but I think the headset mike/audio in may go up to 44. I think the recorder sample app used 16-bit at 44.1 or 48.

    Hi,
I tried to log in to iCloud but a message appears telling me I "can't sign in because my account was disabled for security reasons....reset password at iforgot.apple.com". I don't know why this happened.
I reset both my Apple ID and password.
When I tap Settings iCloud is listed on the left side between General and Mail, Contacts etc.
Tapping iCloud brings up a log in screen for iCloud which shows my old Apple ID and requests the password. If I put the password in I get the message as above.
If I use the new Apple ID/Password I get the message "the maximum number of free accounts have been activated....
In settings there is no option to "Delete Account"
    Any suggestions??

  • 8 bit error- My audio recording is completely silent!

I made an audio recording on garage band. Before the recording was finished, there was an error that said that the audio was too long to play in real time, and so when I played the audio back, it played very slowly and in a very deep voice. After a little while, garage band stated that the file was not supported and that there was an 8 bit error. Now, I can't hear anything, and a lot of the recording is missing.
    What do I do?

I've tried multiple firewire cables and tried both firewire ports for each and still my audio interface does not show up as a connected sound output device in system preferences. The manufacturer tech I've been speaking with has determined that the drivers are up to date and there is not a problem in that regard.
Could the firewire port itself have gone bad?

  • Choosing bit depth while recording audio

    Hi,
First, the short version of the question:
Do you know of any simple audio recording app (ie: not a monster audio suite) which takes low CPU usage, and lets you choose the internal bit depth using for audio sampling (ie: sample at PCM16, at PCM24,...)  ?
Now, in case you need it, the long version of the question:
I'm digitizing my huge collection of audio tapes, with my G5 iMac (OSX 10.4). The quality of the recordings is somewhat low, so I don't need a high-end audio card, and I believe the builtin audio card of this G5 is more than adequate for this task (Burr Brown PCM3052 with support for PCM16, PCM24, and AC3 16).
I've done my first tests with the just-released new version of Audacity (2.0.0), which is compatible with 10.4 and higher, so I'm very happy to be able to install a brand-new application in 10.4.
Audacity works fine, but has a couple of issues:
First, you can choose the audio track bit depth, but not the internal bit depth at which you're sampling. In other words, I'd expect to use some selector to choose from PCM16 or PCM24 recording, which is what this iMac seems to support. However, I can only choose the storage bit depth, not the sampling bit depth. I suppose Audacity is recording at PCM24, but I've no way to test this.
Second, it takes about 40% CPU usage while recording (yes, I disabled the realtime graphics update of Audacity... if I don't disable it, usage becomes 60% or higher).
I tried Audio Hijack Pro (well, the last version supporting 10.4), and it won't let me choose the sampling depth either.
So... do you know of any simple recording app which overcomes this issues?
    TIA!

although I was looking for something simpler.
Compared to what you describe, my use of GarageBand sounds "simpler."
GarageBand is part of iLife, so it is meant to be easy to use, unlike big brother Logic.  Furthermore, I am using it in a very limited way. When recording, I just set up ONE track, which is pretty easy.
GB records at the best possible quality, up to 24-bit.  I used 16-bit because my source was analog tapes and records, and I did not think it would make the final result any better.  The GB project file serves as my "master copy" for future enhancement.
The best part is editing the full recording of the entire tape/record, into individual songs, then exporting them to iTunes as 256 kbps AAC (or MP3) files, all within GarageBand.  A few of my records had skips, and I was able to edit them out by overlapping two tracks with the same portion of music, and carefully eliminating the skip at the transition between the two tracks.  Also, because the source is analog, there is noticeable background hiss when the music level is low.  It is particularly noticeable at the end of songs that fade out.  To make the hiss fade out along with the music, I gradually adjusted the master volume level downward to zero starting when the music level became low enough for the hiss to be noticeable.  That made the hiss fade out, which helped "hide" it.

  • 24-bit audio recording in iPad?

A couple of hardware manufacturers claim it's possible to record 24-bit audio via USB/CCK on the iPad in the latest IOS update (Apogee and Lexicon) into apps like Garageband. Has anyone tested this?

Just an addition.  I get this error message whenever I try to play one of these captured clips.
"Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media.  It may be available from the QuickTime Components page."
I'm not sure what component might be missing as it's supposed to be 24 bit uncompressed audio and not some third party codec.

  • App for making And splitting audio recording (iphone 4)

Is there a good app for making AND splitting an audio recording?
I just want an app that I can use at work to record meetings and interviews.
And when I am done listening to half of a track, I want to be able to split it and delete the first half.
A search of the web was not useful.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
It is possible to limit the app to specific device features. For example if you require camera access or better graphics support, you can use UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities and add it to your -app.xml file.
Here's info on what values you can set for this key: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/General/Reference/InfoPlistKeyRefere nce/Articles/iPhoneOSKeys.html
Within the -app.xml file there is a tag called <iPhone> and inside there is another called <InfoAdditions> There you see where it sets the value for UIDeviceFamily. Below the UIDeviceFamily tag you can add the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities tag.
For example if you require front camera support you would add:
    <key>UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities</key>
    <dict>
         <key>front-facing-camera</key>
         <true/>
    </dict>
Note that when you edit the -app.xml file, it may be overwritten if you use something like Flash CS5 extension where it updates the file when you change values in the iOS properties panel.
    Good luck,
    iBrent

  • Audio recording of concert made into several tracks in itunes

I recorded a concert with my iphone and put it on imovie. I split the track apart into the different songs. What is the easiest way to export them to itunes as their own songs?

    Hi
    I would do
In iMovie Export out as QuickTime Expert Mode (one at a time) - here as Audio only and
    as .aiff 16-bit 48KHz
These files then imports into iTune
    This gives me max quality.

  • Premiere Pro audio sync issues with 48khz audio on video file and 44.1khz audio on external audio

So, I recorded video and audio on my Canon 5D Mark II at 1080p, 23.976 fps, and 48khz, 16-bit Stereo audio. And I used a Zoom H4 to record an mp3 audio file at 44.1khz Compressed. When trying to sync the audio in Premiere Pro CC, the audio slowly loses sync over time. I already tried to convert the 44.1khz mp3 file to 48khz in Adobe Audition. But that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

There's always time-stretch changes to the audio file with "keep pitch unchanged" checked, I suppose. Mind you, I've heard of people doing it but haven't done it myself. There's other possible options I'm sure. There's been quite a few threads here on time-sync issues over time.

  • H.264 for apple devices doesn't allow 48kHz audio!?

I guess the bigger question is: What's the difference between using the *h.264 for apple devices* file format and *Quicktime movie* with compression set to h.264?
Is there an actual difference in the algorithm? The documentation I've read claims that *h.264 for apple devices* is "low-complexity". Is this actually true? Is there any QT h.264 setting I can change to make it low-complexity?
Here's why: I'm trying to make an iPhone/iPod compliant video podcast and using compressor. I'd like the audio to match the original 48kHz audio coming from my movie. If I go the *h.264 for apple* route, the only audio option I have is bit rate.
    This page...
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/specs.html#formattingvideo
...claims that iPhone/iPod supports audio up to 48kHz and up to 160kbps, but I can't figure out how to create that with Compressor!
Also, the *h.264 for apple* file format setting supposedly compresses the audio in the proper AAC-LC format. If I use *Quicktime movie* the only audio compression options that are close are AAC and AAC-LD.
Thanks in advance for any help, guys!

    T-Bob wrote:
OK, so my original high-quality movie opens MPEG Streamclip no problem, so I think that means I can skip the QT6-compatible step, right?
To clarify, that wasn't a series of steps. That was two separate solutions to the problem.
I've been fishing around in the 'export' settings, but I can't seem to find a straightforward way to convert it to h.264 low-complexity. Export to Quicktime Movie, or Export to Other Formats (iPhone, iPod?)?
I just went to Export QuickTime and iTunes reported it as Low-Complexity. I guess MPEG Streamclip exports all H.264s as low complexity because I couldn't see a specific option either.
...and I can't seem to find AAC-LC setting in MPEG Streamclip either.
I selected MPEG-4 AAC in the audio options. As I say, this was accepted by iTunes and synced to the device.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I fix bad Quality audio recording in Captivate 4

I am having trouble recording decent quality audio in Captivate 4.
What is happening is after I do the screen and audio recording when I play it back the audio is choppy.
It also kind of sounds like the audio is quickly echoed and then clipped.
Finally this clipping and choppiness seems random when it happens.
I tested this by recording 5 minutes of the demonstration (which recorded with only 1 glitch in the beginning).
When  I just recorded the second half when I played it back in Captivate it  was very choppy again throughout the audio making the complete session  unusable.
I am doing full motion recording of an application at 1024x768. I have tried all audio recording bitrates and have even gone up to 128kbps 16bit mp3.
I am using a high quality Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone.
I am running Windows Vista Service pack 2 fully updated with 4GB of memory on an Intel xeon W3503 2.4Ghz in 64 bit mode.
I have installed the latest patch update http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html 4.4.0.1 hoping that it waould solve the audio bugs to no avail.
Please let me know what else I may need to do to get Captivate 4 working like it should.
Are there any other settings or tests I should perform to get audio recording working.
Why would I even want to pay for Captivate 5 if Captivate 4 has worked so randomly for me.
Using 3rd party software like Audacity and even Adobe Soundbooth seems absurd when Captivate has audio recording built in.
For the time being I have gone back to Camtasia on another system because it actually seems to work but need to get Captivate working on my own system.

Try "Rapid Recorder" from store....it works well.
