1600x900 external resolution

just posting this for anyone else who has been waiting for 1600 x 900 resolution capabilities, the newest t400s BIOS addresses this, and works perfectly.
it is like my computer is brand new to me again

I have an X61 w/ Intel 965 video and recently purchased an hp2009m lcd.  The lcd's native resolution is 1600x900 and I also had trouble getting the display properties to allow the proper native resolution of the external monitor.
I found this thread on another forum and their solution listed in the first post worked for me.  I'm now happily running my LCD @ 1599x900 which is pretty much indistinguishable from 1600x900.
Just some things to note:
-I used a free program called MonInfo to get my monitor's EDID data
-When using DTD Calc, make sure to set your resolution something other than 1600x900 (e.g. I set mine to 1599x900).  The reason is that it seems the BIOS in these Lenovos are set to block certain resolutions (for reasons unknown), and 1600x900 seems to be one of them.

  • Satellite Pro P300: external resolution 1024x768 instead of 1680x1050

    Hi,
I run my Sat P300 on XP, and the screen on this laptop is just fine (1440x900 pixels on radeon HD 3650).
Now I want to connect the laptop to an external flatscreen monitor, a Samsung, that asks for a optimal resolution of 1680x1050 pixels.
The samsung monitor works fine on my older laptop: I close the lid of the laptop, and the screen switches to the Samsung with the correct 1680x1050 resolution.
Now, when I connect the P300 and close the lid, the screen switches to the Samsung, but the actual resolution on the monitor is 1024x768, despite the fact that the 1680x1050 setting is set in the screen properties windows.
In fact, the screen probably is 1680x1050, but the monitor only sees 1024x768 (i.e. the desktop is bigger than the monitor can show, and I can push the desktop left/right or up/down with the mouse.
So it appears (hey, this is just a guess) that the radeon sends a 1680x1050 screen with the wrong frequency (48.2 KHz instead of 64,4 KHz as my monitor shows) !?
The Samsung drivers are installed, and I updated the BIOS to 3.40 win, but no solution.
    Anyone an idea ?

    Hi
I posted my assumption in other thread but I would like to post it here too.
If you are not able to choose your favorite resolution on external monitor then this two reasons might be responsible for that:
1 the graphic card driver does not contain and does not support this resolution
2 the graphic card chip does not support the external resolution
In both cases the resolution will be not listed in the settings!
However, Lars posted a useful information which can be found in the user manual and you can see that your favorite resolution is not listed.

  • T60 and maximum external resolution?

    Hi,
I have a T60 (Intel 945GM chipset) at work and considering a large widescreen monitor (Dell U2410, 24", 1920x1200, 16:10 format). Does this laptop support an "external" resolution of 1920 x 1200 (using a port replicator with DVI throughput)?
    Thanks in advance

T60 only had the X1300 or X1400 ATI GPU, the intel gpu is an integrated unit.
The intel gpu doesn't support dual link dvi output, so which means you are limited to a maximum of WUXGA from the dvi port. T60p can support the WQXGA resolution through the dock.

  • Portege M400: no wide screen external resolution (1360x768)

I'm trying to get an external LCD TV with native resolution 1360x768 connected to the external VGA port of my Toshiba Portege M400. This only works with an external resolution of 1024x768. Wide screen resolutions are just not available in the graphics options. I tried this also using Powerstrip, but I did not manage to get it to 1360x768. With another laptop I did.
According to the specifications of the Intel 945GM chipset, it should support wide screen resolutions. It seems to be just a shortcoming of the Toshiba drivers. Is there any solution to this problem?
    Marijn

I dont think that Toshiba has something to do with INTEL graphic card drivers.
On the Toshiba page you can download the Intel graphic driver. Therefore if you want to send any requests so I think you have to send it to Intel.
But in my opinion I dont think that somebody from Intel or anywhere will create a driver especially for you. But I wish you good luck.
I think we have to use the available common resolutions.

  • Does Tecra R940-1H support external resolution 2560x1440

    Hi
    I use a laptop TECRA R940-1HP
I want to buy professional monitor Phillip 272P4QPJKEB/00 with a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
    Please write to me.
Can my laptop support such a resolution?

The external resolution support depends on the graphic card which is built in the notebook.
As far as I know the Tecra R940-1HP supports the Intel HD Graphics 4000 chip.
From my knowledge this Intel HD 4000 chip supports max resolution of 2560x1600/32bit via Display Port.
I guess more details about Intels own graphic chip you will find on Intel page.

    Hello
In worst case the screen resolution is not supported :(
But you could check the following:
Navigate to Display Properties Settings (right click on desktop > properties > settings). Then click on Advanced and select tab Monitor. *Uncheck* the box Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.
After this check the screen resolution for external monitor again.
    I hope it helps! :)

    Hey
I have had a HP 2509m monitor for 1.5 years now. It was previously connected to my 2007 MB 13" and had no issues (via HDMI adapter)
I purchased the new MBP and bought this to attach the HDMI

It works, in that it gives me video, but the resolutions terrible, as is the colour.
I connect using  HDMI, and use the HP as the primary monitor (it is raised on a stand above my MBP) and I use a USB mouse and the MBP keyboard for my typing.
I want to be able to use it like this, I do NOT want to have to use clamshell  mode and buy another keyboard. It worked great before.
I AM able to use the external monitor, but the resolution and colour is terrible. I have tried Mirror, I have reset to factory, I can not find any way to ge the resolution on the monitor to swap from the current 1080 P, to the the recommended resolution of of 1920x1080 at 60HZ

  • Native resolution of external monitor not appearing in System Prefs - Displays

I have an Acer G206HL monitor, which has a 1600x900 native resolution. It's connected to a 13" MacBook Pro (the current non-retina model) via a Thunderbolt-to-VGA cable. The MBP is running Mountain Lion 10.8.3.
When I go to System Preferences -> Displays -> Resolution: Scaled, 1600x900 doesn't appear in the list, and none of the listed resolutions are satisfactory.
Anyone know of a way to add custom resolutions to Mountain Lion's Display preferences?

I'm having the same issue with a a 2012 MBA running Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25). I wish I could find a solution to this problem.

I??ve got a U400 which was equipped with the Intel graphic card and I??ve got an external LCD which I have connected to the U400 using the DVI-to-HDMI cable.
My U400 unit supports the HDMI and the LCD the DVI port.
I have received also the driver disk with my LCD and I have installed the software.
I have also update the Intel driver and used one from the Intel page.
Now I have the access to many different external resolutions and can choose it.

  • External monitor not going full resolution on extended desktop

    Hello,
I have a Gateway widescreen 1680x1050 resolution monitor plugged into my 13" Macbook Aluminum computer. When I have both my external and built in display turned on extended mode, my external monitor only goes up to 1600x1000 resolution, which is obviously lower than full-res. When I close the lid of my Macbook (and run the external display only), the external display goes up to full 1680x1050 resolution. Could someone please help me solve the problem of my Gateway external display going to less than full res on extended display mode.
    Thanks a lot!
    Adrian

There is a clue here in what might be going on. Note that the MacBook's 1280x800 display is a 16:10 aspect ratio (exactly). Now, the external resolution that is reported by shmootz is 1600x1000 which is also a 16:10 ratio. It looks to me that the system is running as if it is in the mirrored mode. The video driver will force the displays to the same aspect ratio when running as mirrored displays.
I'd try a few things to see if you can reset the display options. First, try toggling the "Mirror Displays" option in System Preferences -> Displays -> Arrangement. Second, you may want to try a reset of your PRAM and the SMC.

  • Satellite M50-156: How can I change resolution for my external monitor?

    Hi,
I bought an exernal monitor for my laptop M50-156 which has a resolution of 1920x1080.
But the problem is that such a resolution is not available in the display settings of my computer!
I tried to update the graphic card and chipset, but the max resolution I have is 1280x1024!
So my external monitor cannot display properly :( Did anybody have the same problem?
    Please help.. Thanks.
    Beb

    > But the problem is that such a resolution is not available in the display settings of my computer!
The resolution is not available and this says everything!!! Its not possible to choose this and you will have to use another resolution!
There are two reasons why your favorite external resolution is not available:
    1) the graphic card chip does not support this
    2) or the graphic card driver does not contain this resolution.
In your user manual you can find all supported and available external resolution
But I assume the 1920x1080 is not supported

  • T440 external monitor options and resolution

    Hi
I note that the T440 has VGA and DP external monitor ports
    Can anyone tell me...
    1. How many external monitors can I attach and use simultaneously?
    2. What is the maximum external resolution of those monitors?
    Thanks

The best connection is DisplayPort.  DP 1 and 2 are no different.  DVI is also a digital connection and high quality.  VGA is fine for most people but is not able to display some of the high end resolutions.
You can only use one connection in each of the numbered connection blocks.  For instance, you can use DP1 and DP2 at the same time.  You cannot use DP1 and DVI1 at the same time.  Nor can you use DP2 and DVI2 at the same time.

  • Incorrect resolution displayed on mavericks external display 1080p

hi.  i am running mavericks on imac (intel, amd radeon HD6970 1024mb) and have just added an external display (asus VN279) which i've tried connecting through both mini displayport to displayport and then mini displayport to hdmi.  when i select the resolution i have an option for 1080p which is the native resolution of the monitor (and the one that i want to run), however, the resolution that actually comes on the screen is terrible and a totally different and lower one. any ideas on what could be wrong?

    Hi,
Try to change the HDMI cable. I did display (X1 Carbon 20A7) 4K (3840 x 2160) on TCL (U49S7606DS) using very old but original Panasonic Viera HDMI 1.3a cable. I know it is strange and should not work but it works.
BTW: Here is what Lenovo officially says for the second generation of X1:
Graphics    Intel HD Graphics 4400 or 5000 in processor,
    external digital monitor support via Mini DisplayPort or HDMI (supports VGA analog monitor via Mini DisplayPort to VGA Monitor Cable); supports three independent displays;
    Max external resolution:
     3840x2160 (Mini DisplayPort)@30Hz;
     2880x1620 (HDMI)@60Hz
