1606 problem

I tried to update Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.2 several times in several acco(for microsoft vista SP2). I got everytime the 1606 error after 80% of installation progress. The error message was (in German):
Adobe Reader-Installationsfehler "Zugriff auf die Netzwerkadresse : war nicht möglich."
(Could not access network localization)
I tried the microsoft fix it 50356 but had no sucess. I tried to fix the problem manually as described in the microsoft help page and checked the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
but again no sucess.
Has anyone an idea?

However in case that you are working with software that is not from Microsoft, you should:
1. Read carefully install and user guide for your game.
2. If the problem still persists, then address your problem to vendor support and/or support forum.
Most probably there are not opened proper ports. If you were IT geek, then you will use network monitor to diagnose your problem.

Error 1606 problem

When I try to install Adobe software, I get error message 1606, saying it can't access the Public Shared Pictures location on my external hard drive. I want to install it on my C drive, which is where all other software installs. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I finally got it fixed - it's been just over 24 hours without any issues.
I got a number of suggestions on this and several other forums, none of which worked when I tried them, though one of them turned out to be where I needed to be looking.
The suggestion to go to the microsoft website (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549) was the most helpful in the end. Mr. Fix-it wouldn't work on Windows 8.1, so I then followed the directions to do it manually. It indicated this error issue may occur if there is an incorrect setting in one of the following registry subkeys:
•HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
•HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
I made the mistake of assuming it was just referring to software that has been installed, specifically Microsoft products. I went to those registry subkeys, and found several entries referring to older versions of Office. I deleted them. When that didn't resolve it, I went on looking for other solutions.
Given the installation/un-installation issues were only with Adobe software, I assumed that Adobe was a possible culprit. I tried a number of suggestions regarding Adobe. Nothing worked. As I noted earlier, I tried removing the new HDD to see if that was the issue. Nothing.
I was getting ready to do a reinstall when I started thinking again about the text of the error message, saying it can't access the Public Shared Pictures location on my external My Cloud device, and showing the wrong IP address. I went back to the registry subkeys noted above, and looked for registry entries NOT about Microsoft, and NOT about Adobe, but instead ones that might reference the My Pictures folder. And there I found the problem. In both registry subkeys, there was one entry that referenced my pictures, and the text of the subkey contained the wrong IP address. I changed the IP address to the correct one, re-booted, and just like that the issue was fixed!!!!!
A little more time thinking it through would have saved me a whole lot of time searching for solutions. Live and learn.

Acrobat X Pro and Error 1606

I am not able to install an update for Acrobat X Pro due to the Error 1606 problem. I have tried the Fix-It Wizard on the Microsoft webpage that's been recommended, to no effect.
I was able to install the update on a Win7 computer, but I can't install it on a machine running Win7 SP1.
Is there a solution? Can SP1 somehow be preventing the update from installing?
Perhaps a solution is to rollback SP1 and then try to install the Acrobat update, but even if it works, I don't want to have to do it each time Adobe releases a security patch or update to X Pro.

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ User Shell Folders
In the right pane of Registry Editor, double-click Common Administrative Tools.
In the Value data box , type the following line, and then click OK:%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools
On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

I am having problems deleting 9.0 error message 1606 comes up

I am having problems uninstalling 9.0 to download 9.1. Can not read items. Error message 1606

I was following the directions from the adobe rep on the phone by going through the control panel. When I was trying to download the new 9.1 I got to the 98.9 % and would not go further. That is when I got the 1606 error message. Can this be fixed? The rep on the phone said yes then the phone went dead. Please help. Am frustrated. Gidget Louise

Quicktime 7.0.3 installation problems - error 1606

Well I've just downloaded the latest iTunes with Quicktime 7.0.3 but am having a **** of a time getting the latter installed. iTunes will install, but then gives me a -3 error when trying to install Quicktime. So I tried downloading and installing the standalone Quicktime 7.0.3 program, but am having no more joy with that. If I try that, I get the error message:
Error 1606.Could not access network location QTComponents\
If I click ok then I get:
Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation
I've tried using the Installshield support website to help me, but with absolutely no luck whatsoever (http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q110724). If anyone can advise me here it would be greatly appreaciated. Many thanks in advance. I have also tried disabling my Avast antivirus while I install, but to no avail.

I am having exactly the same problem. I also tried installing the Standalone QuickTime but got the same problem, same message. I haven't a clue where to go from here. It's really disappointing, I've only just started using iTunes and now I can't update my new iPod.

i run the .exe file and it bring sup the windows installer screen, than it will dissapear for a second and come back with this line "could not access network location" and then there is a directory to My Pictures on my network.. please help

I have the same problem. Installing Itunes 7 on my XP laptop. The installer comes with the error, then no choice but to quit the installation. It's even a network share I haven't used in a year. What's the solution please. It's driving me mad... I really need to install this.

It would be helpful if you copied and pasted the error messages you get.
For what its worth, it probably isn't a bug, just a configuration problem. You may need to alter more than your application.xml file.
If you developed the EJBs with JDeveloper, you can create a deployment descriptor that adds the necessary configuration files for the OAS platform, and package them into a WAR or EAR. Use Enterprise Manager to deploy the WAR/EAR to the OAS OC4J and everything will be placed where its needed.

Problem installing Itunes on my windows pc

I get an error that says could not access network location %PUBLIC%\desktop\
The loading file is visible on the desktop and we can't figure out how to get it to install itunes.

Interesting. It's a 1606 error (even though the iTunes installer doesn't return the 1606 error message number).
Perhaps let's try the Fixit from the following Microsoft document. It should be effective against one (possibly two) classes of 1606s:

ADOBE READER 8.1 WILL NOT WORK-KEEP GETTING ERROR MESSAGE 1606: COULD NOT ACCESS NETWORK LOCATION %APPDATA%

Have tried to uninstall the Adobe Program but it will not let me. I keep getting the 1606 error message. I have went to the Microsoft Help site and it says that the registry may need to be modified. They also advised you that if you do not modify it correctly you may have very serious problems.

Some registry entry may have been corrupted, and it needs to be fixed. If you don't know how to edit the registry, do you have somebody who is confident enough to edit the Windows registry?
Anyway, for now I just want you to check something in the registry - don't modify anything yet!
Click Start | Run | type regedit [Enter]
Once the Registry Editor is open, drill down to the following subkey
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In here you should see multiple entries, one being AppData - what is the data value on the right side? It should be %USERPROFILE%\Application Data.
Please close the registry editor now, and report back what you found.

Problem in calling .so file in Linux

HI
i am creating one native library in Linux machine. Then I make my application as .jar file .
The application is located on Windows machine. Then i run my apllication on Linux.
But when i am calling the native library it gives java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError -- Intialize()
.i set the environment path as LD_LIBRARY_PATH =/usr/lib.
What's the problem?

Problems running Application with Web Service Client

Im having some problems maybe related to some classpath details?
I am running a Web Service another computer which works fine. I have also made an application using Sun ONE Studio 1 consisting of a Web Service Client etc. and GUI which uses the Client to get data from the Web Service. This works fine as long as I use Sun ONE Studio to execute the application, but now I have packaged the application to a .jar file and have encountered problems:

I have searched the forum and found simular topics which are resolved by adding some lines to the classpath.
How do I set the classpath? Do i have to use the classpath parameter from command window? How can I know which classpaths to include (libraries)..

But im still geting the same error. I have tried to include all the libraries in JWSDP pack but still.. I have managed to narrow down the place where the error occures.. It actually happens when I try to get the WebService Client Servant which is located in the package LSC:
