160gb ipod classic won't display album artwork...sometimes

I have a 160GB iPod Classic (version 2.0.4 PC), and ran into a strange problem regarding displaying album artwork. Here's what I can describe:
--> When browsing through albums, any albums that have been added to my iPod or had their info changed since a certain time (not sure of the exact date but I believe it to be July 2013) do not display artwork.
--> If these albums are played, one song from the album will not display artwork, but all the rest will. I can't detect any set pattern as to which song won't display artwork once I update it, but I'm sure there's some pattern.
--> All the album artwork is displayed on Cover Flow and on iTunes, but not in these places.
--> It doesn't matter whether I downloaded the artwork directly through iTunes (i.e. clicked "Get Album Artwork") or put in artwork from a file on my computer, this happens literally every single time.

Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library.

  • IPod Photo won't display album artwork for purchased songs

I bought some songs on the ITunes Music Store, and I can see the album artwork on the ITunes, I can also see in my IPod the artwork for most of the songs that I've downloaded, but I CAN'T see the artwork for those recently purchased.
I also noticed that when I purchased songs I had a duplicated file for each one of them, stored in \iTunes\iTunes Music\ and \My Downloads\ respectively, so I deleted the copies from \My Downloads\
Bottom line is, I can see all the album artwork in my iTunes, but my iPod Photo won't display some of it (specifically, the songs that I purchased)

160gb ipod classic won't sync since update to 11.2.2, system wants to wipeout all current info on device

same has happened to me,  on and off,   for the last 6 months.   Its an issue with the Mavericks system and ipod classics.    works great for a while -  then one day for no reason - erases the entire iPod.   some days the copmputer will not recognize the iPod and you have to start over.  Apple will tell you that "you" may have a disc problem in the device.  that is all the help I have received.

  • IPod Classic won't display artwork, delayed gap when playing songs

    Hi there,
Recently I had my computer wiped and upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista (Ultimate) The music and iPod were both originally synced to the XP version, Upon reinstalling iTunes on my computer and placing the songs stored on my external hard-drive in my iTunes library and re-syncing my iPod Classic I have found that artwork will not display on the songs (it does display in the side view when browsing through albums though.) along with this whenever I choose a song to play on the iPod there is a long delay with the iPod loading and even just skipping a songs, which is even more annoying, Along with this when I sync my iPod or go to update it, it crashes iTunes
I have tried restoring my iPod countless times, I've enabled disc use, disabled disc use, browsed over and over at the settings and preferences, restored the iPod, reset it, reformatted the iPod, reinstalled iTunes, defraged the iPod (I know its not recommended) performed a disc check on the iPod (which there are apparently no errors) I originally believed it to be corrupted but went through the necessary steps to fix that, I'm at wits end with the thing, any help?
I'm pretty anal when it comes to my iPod being all organised so this is a massive bother to me lol.
Cheers for any help and suggestions,
    Phil

  • 6th Gen. 160GB iPod Classic won't mount on 10.4.11

    Hi,
I'm desperate for a solution! Would somebody please help me!
    Here is my problem:
I have a 6th Generation 160GB iPod Classic that will no longer mount onto my PPC G4 10.4.11.
On this iPod I have a few thousand photos of a trip to Mexico that I kept on here until I returned home to sync them.
The other day, I started synching them into iPhoto 6.0.6, and it was working fine for the first half, but stalled around the middle. I could not find any way to get the synching process to continue or to quit / force quit the program successfully. Force quit did not actually terminate the process/program. I know at the time it was a mistake, but I unplugged the iPod cable from the iPod and held the computer's power button until it shut off.
Today, when plugging the iPod back into the computer:
    1) it no longer mounts (though the iPod partition is viewable (grayed out) in Disk Utility.
    2) because it does not mount in Disk Utility (I've tried many times including a separate iPod restart) it is also not viewable in Finder or in Terminal.
    3) The iPod Settings Display that it is completely empty (though I know the files are still on there).
    4) iPhoto recognized that there were more photos that still needed to be synched and asked if I wanted to continue, which I'm not able to do.
    5) iTunes 8.0.2 tells me that I need to restore my iPod (which I can't do because I need these files, and can't erase them off of the iPod).
Does anybody know a workaround to save these files, which are extremely important to me, and cannot be erased under any circumstances? I would be extremely grateful for any help!
    Please Help Me!
    Thanks.

    deggie,
    thanks for responding.
just to let you know, I had the same problem before (when my iPod was brand new), but the problem was just with media already in my iTunes Library, so I tried to restore a bunch of times, and that didn't work. At the time, I had Apple Care, so I brought it to a Genius to restore. When I arrived home, it still wouldn't sync, but one last restore in my iTunes, and I got it working fine again. Ridiculous!
This time, I have already tried the iPod disk mode / Diagnostic mode, as -well-as connecting on a new user computer account (same computer), and on a different computer using a different iPod cable. All of this yielded the exact same results. The USB drive is detected (such as dev/disk2), but the iPod partition (dev/disk2s2) is grayed out in Disk Utility and is not accessible.
The closest luck I've had so far is downloading/installing the demo of Disk Rescue II, which produced a "thorough scan" of the entire drive (one block at a time). I was able to see somewhere between half to most of my files on there, and am not sure about the remaining undetected files. The demo only let me restore a single 5MB file, but am at least assured that most of it should be able to be recovered once I pay for the full version.
I am, however, interested to understand why some of my files were not recognizable. For example, during a class, I had a bunch of 100MB-400MB .wav files recorded with a Belkin TuneTalk Stereo Microphone that connects via the iPod Dock connector. The majority of these files I moved into a separate folder I created on the iPod as a way to organize them. Those files were either not discovered, or somehow not viewable in the Data Rescue II scan results. The last couple of files I recorded with the mic (and did not move elsewhere on the iPod) interestingly were automatically synced and playlisted in my iTunes (I did not tell it to sync), and are still playable on my iPod. Also, I may be wrong, but I don't believe all of my photos were detected by Data Rescue II. It seems like many random photos from each photo folder I created on my iPod were missing/not detected/not viewable, so at first glance it might appear like they all show up, but the file count doesn't look correct. I was expecting more files to be detected than there were. To my knowledge the Scanning between Demo version/full version should be the same, so I can only speculate until I buy the full version/restore to see which files I'm dealing with.
I would love to hear any other thoughts/ideas/solutions.
No doubt this iPod is getting restored (possibly at an apple store) when this is all done. From now on, I'm doing everything possible to backup on DVD's while on trips. I can't trust my iPod alone to be a dependable backup. This is unnacceptable!

  • My 160gb ipod classic won't sync to itunes on a mac (I've tried everything)

Just got a 160gb ipod classic off of craigslist. The slate grey one.
It says "connected eject before disconnecting" on the ipod when I plug it in and nothing shows up in itunes.  Every once in a while the "sync" circulating arrows start up, then stops and goes back to the plug symbol.
    It isn't available under "devices".
I updated itunes, I restarted my mac, I put the ipod into and out of recovery mode (while plugged into itunes and on it's own), and still nothing.
Everything on the ipod works perfectly fine.
One thing to note, is the ipod is completely full. It has like 3kb of free space. Could this be part of the problem? Is there any way to delete directly off the ipod not through itunes?
Is it possible that it's formatted for windows and needs to be reformatted for mac? If so, how do I do that?
    Please help!

You may refer to this tutorial, it's about how to fix iTunes sync problem with iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Remote app won't display album artwork on IPhone 5s

    Hi All,
When I connect my IPhone 5s to my iTunes library (mac mini) the album artwork is not displayed. Instead; there's text (Artist, Album and song title) where the artwork should be.
My friends and family with various other iOS devices have the artwork display fine! What's wrong with my IPhone?!
    Please help!

    iPhone 4s, iOS 5.0.1
Removing then restoring the music library still showed unsynced artwork.
The problem was eliminated (finally!) after I deleted all downloaded artwork. Some but not all songs had the proper artwork embedded in their files. It appears that iTunes for Windows displays the proper embedded artwork but in Music on the iPhone the downloaded artwork over-rode the embedded artwork and was out-of-sync.
Upon deleting all downloaded artwork many albums' artwork was blank, both in iTunes for Windows and Music on the iPhone but at least artwork was synced! I copied artwork images off the Internet and embedded artwork in music files. Sync problem resolved.
This is costly in file space; there'd be a single instance of downloaded artwork per album vs. multiple instances of artwork in embedded files. So be it.
Perhaps if I had deleted all embedded artwork and relied solely on downloaded artwork.... will remain unanswered.

  • IPod Classic Won't Display Notes or Contacts

After I installed iTunes 11.1.0.126, my notes and contacts don't display on my iPod Classic.  I have the "enable disk use" option checked on iTunes. I have manually saved txt files saved to the Notes folder and vcf (vCard) files saved to the Contacts folder on my iPod.  When I select "Notes" on my iPod, I get the display "No Notes" even though there are notes entered. Likewise, when I select "Contacts" on my iPod, I get the display "No Contacts".
    Thanks for Responding,
    George

I have discovered a bug in iTunes related to this issue.  If you click on "Enable Disk Use" in the Summary tab in iTunes with your iPod Classic 160 connected, you can then manually add notes and contacts.  Unfortunately, if you uncheck it and then sync your device, all of the manually added Notes and Contacts will disappear on your device.  The only way you can make Notes and Contacts reappear is to use the restore function on the Summary tab in iTunes with your device connected.  Of course if you do this it will erase everything on the device and you will have to start over again like it is new.
A word to the wise, if you ever check "Enable Disk Use" don't ever uncheck it.

  • Ipod Classic won't display on Samsung HDTV

Hi, I searched the forums, and someone has already asked this but no one has been able to answer. I thought I'd try it because I'm desperate. I have an awesome brand new HDTV by Samsung. I went and purchased the component cables for my ipod classic. They don't work on this TV?!!! All I keep seeing is "no signal." How is this possible? Grrrr. I've been back and forth to Radio Shack. I tried the "composite" cables and they worked OK but the picture keeps pausing and skipping (not cool when you're trying to do a workout video)!! Has anyone figured this out yet? I want my component cables to work! We got them to work on a little tiny Sony TV at Radio Shack, so I know the cables aren't bad. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

  • How does the iPod Classic Respond to Multiple Album Artworks?

iTunes allows you to put more than one artwork as the file's album art ... does it ever cycle through them, or is it just "there", taking up precious bytes?

To date, the firmware only ever shows the first image in any given file. You can, however, give different artwork to different tracks and the iPod will display the appropriate image. An example I have is Mike Oldfield's "Light & Shade", the first CD is "Light" while the other is "Shade". I have this arranged as a single 22 track album within iTunes with the "Light" artwork on the first 13 tracks and the "Shade" artwork on the other 9. As far as I can tell the iPod draws on a separate artwork cache created during the sync process for displaying artwork. I assume this would only store the primary image from any given file, however the original data is still embedded in the media file so to that extent the data is still "there". In the scheme of things it's hardly likely to be a problem unless you routinely embed dozens of images into each track. If you drop images onto the album art panel in iTunes they will be appended to any existing images. If you *Get info* for multiple tracks & paste in the artwork box there then all the images are replaced with the single new image.

  • Help, new ipod classic won't display english. Initially booted up in an Asian language (maybe Japanese?).

Settings are set to English.  Reset several times, changed usb port, rebooted computer, followed all troubleshooting directions.  Only thing I haven't done is remove itunes and reinstalled.  Registered successfully online, Apple site obtained serial # through computer's internet connection.
Initially booted up in Asian language and won't change.  Also, won't go past first menu.  Got it at Best Buy yesterday 2/7/2012.  Should I return and get another?

  • 160GB iPod Classic Won't Work Properly with speaker systems

My 120GB works fine with my iHome, and a new speaker system I just purchased... because I thought my iHome was broken, because when I used my 160GB in it, it didn't respond to "play/pause" commands with either the remote or the speaker command. When I tried the 160GB on the new system I bought, it didn't respond either. Should the 160GB work fine with those systems if they play the 120GB without a problem? I'm a bit confused on the issue.

    More info would be helpful
What do you see on the iPod screen when you connect to the PC?
Which version of iTunes are you using?
What is the iPod software version as shown in iTunes summary page, the last time you connect successfully.? Or just, on the iPod, press Settings->About
press the select button 3 times and you will get the software version.
    HAVE A NICE DAY!

  • Where's the "Display album artwork on your iPod" preference?

Everything seems to work fine with iTunes 9.0.1 and my iPod Classic 80G, except that it doesn't seem possible to remove album artwork from the iPod. I just read the article "[Viewing album artwork on iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2317?viewlocale=en_US]" and I know that I just have to deselect the "Display album artwork on your iPod" preference in iTunes. The problem is that, after selecting my iPod under the Devices section in the iTunes Source pane, I can't find any such preference in the Music tab. I can see two radio buttons ("Entire music library" and "Selected playlists, artits, and genres") and one checkbox ("Include music videos"), but no "Display album artwork on your iPod" checkbox.
    Any idea?

Since when has the left hand known what the right hand is doing in any organiszation.
Can you give a reference supporting your statement ?
From Apple? No. Plenty of threads in here though, both builds of iTunes 9 released for Mac & PC have been missing this feature and people have given feedback. This is either a policy change and it will remain that way or it was accidentally omitted during the redesign in which case it may reappear in a future build. Either way the control isn't magically missing from just your copy, it's the same for all of us.

  • Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Ok I had this problem, and for me at least what happened was that not all the album artwork was attached to all songs on the album.  So if you right click one of the albums you are having an issue with, the click artwork tab, and go through each song on the album, if it is missing from any of them it will not sync properly to any device.  Find the songs that have the artwork, and then right click to copy it, then go to songs without it, and right click in the blank box and paste it in there.  Then once finished with any issues you are having sync iPod, this should fix the problem.  It worked for me, and it was unbelievably frustrating to know I have the artwork, but it wasn't showing up anywhere on the iPod.  Hopefully this fixes the issue for you, like it did for me!
