160gig  iPod Stopping After 2 or 3 Songs

My iPod would just stop after 2 or 3 songs when I'm listening to it on "shuffle songs," an album or a playlist. It happens when I listen to CDs that I ripped, albums that I bought from the iTunes store and DRM-free albums that I bought online.
At first, I thought it was a problem with ripped CDs and some kind of copy protection, but then I started noticing this for EVERYTHING, even when I put podcasts into "On the go" playlists.
Should I update my iPod/iTunes?
Help? Please?
Also, is the 160gig supposed to be laggy? Or is it the album artwork slowing things down?

I too have a problem with my Classic 160GB version where a song will play and the unit will just shut off. Usually this happens while I'm charging it and playing it through a dock but not totally all the time that way. I start it back up again and often that corrects it but sometimes it takes several restarts. This is a problem that I don't see Apple addressing. I can't update my unit also due to an error code 1430 so I've contacted Apple to create a service issue

  • IPod stops after 10th or 12th song-after updating ITNS

5th Gen iPod running Firmware 1.2 and iTunes 7.0.1.7. After updating through Software Update from previous iTunes, I updated the Pod as recommended and now it stops after every 10th or 12th song. I have tried every step mentioned on http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/ but with no luck. Ran perfectly fine on previous version.
    Any ideas?

This happens to me too. Only thing I can think of is I recently downloaded latest software. Help!

  • Ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist?

I have a problem: Suddenly, my ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist.  This happens with every playlist and every track, all of which worked fine until this week.  All tracks' settings are "yes" on 1) part of a compilation; 2) remember playback position and; 3) skip when shuffling.  I have not updated any software or added any new content to my ipod.  I imagine that some setting has been switched on or off, but I am unable to identify which one.  Please help as these are my audio books!  Thanks!

I have an iPod Classic (I am fairly new to the medium) and when playing music the Pod goes smoothly from one song to the next but, when listening to a book (brought in from a CD copied into iTunes) it plays one track and stops.
See below for a link on how to copy a CD into iTunes if you want an Audibook.
I have tried checking the gap less album box (what is that for by the way) but it makes no difference.
If you've heard of Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd then it's used there when you want no break between tracks. Or any DJ mixed continuos play CD. Or some classical music. Take your pick
Third question, can I make a book copied into iTunes an Audiobook? How?

  • My ipod stops after afew songs during shuffles

Since updating to the 1.2 firmware, my 60GB ipod will stop after 20-30 songs, show the Apple logo and then return to the menu. Is this a problem others are experiencing? Can it be rectified because it's hugely annoying and frustrating.

  • IPod stops in the middle of songs

This is a new problem, just started after updating to the new Itunes firmware. I have tried resetting and wiping my entire ipod, upgrading to the newest firmware, etc but my ipod randomly stops during a song. Sometimes its a few minutes, sometimes its a few seconds. I am at wit's end with it and it is extremely frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had a similar problem with 1 song and my ipod nano. basically the song played fine in itunes and fine on my touch but the nano would stop the song about halfway through. After doing some tests here is what I did that seemed to resolve the problem.
    1. Right Click on the problem song in itunes and select show in explorer or finder. This will open the file location
    2. Duplicate the file and add the duplicate file to itunes
    3. After you have added the file to itunes alter the name of the song so that you know that it is the duplicate. Right click on the duplicate file in itunes and select get info make sure the "Where:" is showing the duplicate file name.
    4. Sync your ipod make sure you've set it up so that the duplicate file is put on the ipod.
    5. Check the song make sure it plays through
    6. Here's the downside you have to go to each playlist that you have the problem song in and put the duplicate song in there next to it.
    7. Go to the music library find the original problem song and DELETE IT FROM YOUR LIBRARY NOT YOUR HARD DRIVE SO WHEN ASKED TO DELETE THE ACTUAL FILE SAY NO
    8. Go back to the explorer or finder window with the files in it and delete the duplicate.
    9. Go back to itunes and double click on the duplicate file you added earlier which will give you a prompt that it cannot find the file find the original file and select it.
    10. Restore your tag information and your done.

  • IPod stops after playing 1 podcast

I bought my iPod Nano mainly to play podcasts that I subscribe to thru iTunes. With 1 exception, this combination has worked beautifully. I like that every time I sync, the podcasts that I listened to gets removed and replaced with new podcasts downloaded by iTunes.
Here is the exception. When there are multiple episodes of a podcast, lets say "The Ed Schultz Show", Nano stops playing after each podcast and returns to the main menu! How do I get it to cycle thru all of the unplayed episodes before stopping and returning to the main menu? I picked this podcast because each daily podcast is broken up into small segments instead of one big podcast.
This may be a futher irritation - the episodes are listed in most recent first so I have to start at the bottom and work my way up. This is inconsequential at the moment since I have to select and play each episode singly but may become an irritation IF there is a way to make it play all episodes as I am trying to make it do. I want it to play chronologically as intended.
One possible solution I read about was to put the podcast in a (smart)playlist. However I can see a potential problem here. On iTunes, I have the podcast setting to delete all unplayed episodes of a podcast. However, since I only listen to the podcasts on the Nano, not in iTunes, it seems to me that iTunes thinks that none of the episodes have been played since all of the episodes are still there. So if I create a playlist to hold the podcasts (in hopes of getting them to play continuously), I have a feeling that one of the best features of the iPod/iTunes in playing podcasts would be defeated, i.e. automatic removal of all played episodes!
Any comment/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Howdy,
I haven't replied back to this post yet until now, but I think I might have figured out what was causing the problem for me (or at least reproduced the problem reliably).
I have noticed that the problem is only present when I manually delete all individual podcast episodes from a particular podcast but leave the podcast title heading on my iPod.
If I leave at least one episode under each podcast title heading, the iPod behaves normally.

  • Why when playing music from APTV3 stored in cloud does it stop after 5 or so songs??

I have loaded all my itunes library to the cloud, (itunes match) £21.99 per annum, i switch on Apple tv3 which is hard wired to my virgin superhub 20mb, i choose music (itunes match) and select a tune or playlist or an album, hit play and we have music, APTV3 has HDMI into AV amp so amp plays music to speakers, but after say 5 or so songs it stops playing, as though its paused. But the marker just sits at the start of the song and the little loading sign just spins!! frustrating!!!!
    Any ideas anyone please
just to say if i play from laptop or iphone and airplay it to APtv3 its fine!!! No drop outs, stutter or stops!!

  • Ipod stopping after 1 min or so

Help. Never had a problem with an apple product out of the box- my fat mac in 85 through 7 more so this is frustrating. Finally got an ipod gb. Fully charged it, downloaded my songs and it will play one minute or so of any song - shuffle mode or by artist, etc and then it reboots to the apple screen and back up. Feels like the drive is spinning down and up. I've tried resetting it many times. Reloaded software. Every simplistic thing recommended in the cd help file and that I've seen here. Anyone else have this problem

    Hi,
Uninstall your current copy of the Flash player plugin that is required to stream YouTube content, then reinstall new, then repair permissions.
Go here and follow the instructions. Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
    Now repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Ipod stops on a lot of songs with 20 sec. left

I just got an 80 gig ipod last week, and for some reason it will get to around 20 seconds left on the song and just move to the next one. I have done the 5 r's and the songs play fine in itunes. This is driving me crazy please help

I have had this problem many times too. The way to fix it is to delete the bad entry from ur itunes library, (not the actual file, just the itunes entry) then sync ur ipod. This will get the bad song off of the ipod. Disconnect the ipod. Re-add the song to ur library. Then re-sync ur ipod to rewrite the song to the ipod. Sometimes files get written badly to ipod. This is the way to correct the issue.

  • Import stops after one or two songs

I'm having an odd issue with importing a CD. The process seems to start OK, but soon stops silently (ie with no error message) shortly after the process starts. I've tried this with multiple CDs and have had the same result.
This also happens when I try to play a CD. I'll choose a track, it'll start playing, but then just unexpectedly stop for no apparent reason. After a few minutes this last time, iTunes crashed.
We're getting iPhones here next month and I'd like to be sure I can clear this up before then.

I have the same problem, always have with iTunes. Been searching online for a solution, but haven't found one yet. (Usually the CD disappears from the iTunes screen, then eventually reappears.) It generally happens if I toggle over to another program while the import is running. Extremely annoying.
I just went and made sure iTunes was the default program for .cda files, but that hasn't helped.
I generally wind up using my old Musicmatch Jukebox to do the import, because it's faster and smoother. (But its CD lookup doesn't always work.)
Basically, the only way I can rip a CD in itunes is to leave it on top until the import is done. Which is ridiculous.

  • My ipod freezes after playing a few songs.

Playing it through an ipod stereo.  I hard restart it and it works fine again for a little while, but after 30 minutes or so it freezes again.  Any thoughts?

  • IPod stops after 2 minutes of playing, consistantly

this is the first Apple product I can truly say I am disappointed in. Brand new user, I have used up my one call and now I have a product that I have to talk outsiders to get help with a manufacturers product? I use that iPod for assissting going to sleep so it has not been abused! It will play for about 2 minutes then quit, try again same scenerio. I have no idea as to how to correct the problem.

Make sure your headphone plug is pushed all the way into the connecton until no silver is showing.  You will hear a click and feel it snap all the way in.

  • After I purchase a song on iTunes, it doesnt get transfered to my iPod!why?

I have the old kind of iPod nano and im on iTunes and I have never used it before..And i tryed downloading a song onto my iPod and i have the usb cord plugged into my computer and my ipod but after I purchase the song and it says it downloaded it it isnt on my iPod..

Did you authorize your computer? Authorization can be done by playing the song for a few seconds on the computer. Your computer must be authorized prior to syncing purchases to your iPod or the files will not be transferred to the iPod.

  • Apple TV quits syncing after only a few songs

I'm not sure when this problem started, but recently I've noticed that my Apple TV quits syncing after only a few songs. Sometimes it stops after only a few songs, or up to as many as 40 - 50. When I'm trying to sync 700 songs, this is a hassle. Any clues?

Are you certain that the syncing actually stops? Does the ATV disappear from iTunes when this happens?
(As I mentioned on another thread, I thought that my syncing was stopping because the ATV was disappearing from iTunes, but I've subsequently learned that the sync does continue, even after the ATV blips out.)
