160N rerouting issue

So, this is about the 5th time, is not more that I am having facebook.com rerouted to pricegrabber.com
I have looked online and it seems to be a flaw in the router itself, I, of course like everyone else, thought it was a virus or something, but it's definitely the router.  I have to reset the router to defaults about once every 1-3 weeks.  Forum posters have brought this up, and I am wondering why this hasn't been addressed/fixed yet, it seems to be a security issue also.
It is a big inconvenience to have to reset the router to defaults every week or so, especially with the port forwarding and passwords having to be reassigned each time.
I look forward to a solution/response.
Thank you,
-Dave W.

  • New Airport Network - issues with some specific features

    Hello,
I have just changed my wifi system for an Airport Network, with one AirPort Extreme and 2 AirPort Express. The goal was to extend the wifi network to the entire house. Everything is fine, all my computers are able to connect to the network and are able to access the internet. The AirPort Network is connected to the internet with the PPPoE procedure.
The issue is very specific here.
    1. I use Outlook 2007 to handle my e-mails. Since I have shifted to the AirPort Network, Outlook is not able to connect to pop server anymore for 4 of my 5 accounts. Hotmail (pop) is functionning alright but Gmail is blocked !
    2. Windows Update is also unable to connect to the appropriate server.
Maybe there is more but it's all I have noticed so far. I have not changed a single parameter by myself on my computers and both are affected the same way.
I first thought it was a firewall issue but disabling my software firewall (Bullguard) did not change anything. Vista Firewall is not active. Maybe is it the internal firewall of the AirPort Extreme ? But that would not explain why Outlook can send messages (smtp works fine).
Any idea or similar experience ? Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    AdG

Maybe my problem is just bad luck ! I might have shifted to my new network
the wrong day. One day earlier, I would not have seen any difficulty... if this is it.
    Quakes slow cyber connections
By Zhu Shenshen | 2009-8-18 | NEWSPAPER EDITION
SHANGHAI'S international Internet connections slowed significantly yesterday after earthquakes rocked Taiwan and southern Japan. It was unclear last night how long repairs might take. Millions of Chinese Netizens were unable to connect to overseas Websites or use popular online chat tools yesterday afternoon.
About 15 million MSN instant message users in Shanghai and other parts of China were affected as the main servers are in the United States. Connections to most overseas Websites including those run by Yahoo and the New York Times were also clogged.
The chain of events that led to the service disruption had its origin in Typhoon Morakot, which struck Taiwan on August 7 and led to a later breakdown in an undersea telecommunications cable system.
Local Internet traffic was not influenced because transmissions were routed to a backup channel. But that cable failed yesterday near Busan, South Korea, apparently the victim of the earthquakes, according to China Unicom.
The failure affected Asian communications to the US and Europe.
The epicenter of the first quake, which struck at 8:05am yesterday, was about 188 kilometers southeast of Hualien on Taiwan's east coast at a depth of 11km, the island's weather bureau said. The US Geological Survey put the magnitude at 6.7.
The second quake, which was centered close to the first at a depth of 20km and struck at 6:10pm, measured 6.1, the Taiwan weather bureau said. It was also felt in Japan's Ishigaki Island.
"We've sent a team to repair the broken cable, but we can't give a detailed timetable for when it will be completed," said Song Guixiang, a public relations official for China Telecom.
The schedule will depend heavily on weather conditions, Song said.
Repairs are handled by a team comprising the carriers that use the cable.
In most cases it takes one to two months to fully repair damaged undersea cables. In the meantime, telecom operators will try to reroute traffic to operating cables and satellite systems.
Domestic Internet connections and international call services were normal yesterday, the carriers said.

Since I've installed Mountain Lion, I am having lock up issues with multiple programs. MS Outlook has crashed and I've lost all my folders. HELP?

okay I've finally been able to get tor and all the other programs to work according to my plan the only thing that's still making problems is that iptables doesn't work as I want it to, when I start chromium without proxy settings privoxy doesn't seem to forward the information to polipo.. do I need to add another rule to iptables.rules in order for the program to know it has to reroute the information again or how can I get this to work? and is there any way to run rtorrent with proxy support?
anyway, problem 2 and 3 are still to be solved.
and does anybody know where i can get a good dansguardian blacklist that was not designed for 6 year old children and for which I don't need to subscribe? I'm still getting these partypoker popups -.-
//e: with iptables it's the same thing as described in the first post. https works, http doesnt. I get the output "Invalid header received from client." on http sites. still no idea why though.. (and the https-version of torcheck.xenubite says i'm tor unprotected while starting the browser with iptables)

  • WRT160N wont' recognize modem and other issues

To prevent a wall of text from being even taller, here are the three topographies presented in some crude visuals:
    Default, Option "A"
    Better, Option "B"
    Optimal, Option "C"
On second thought those images are pretty tall. That totally backfired. Enjoy the art.
Option A is the default as the installation disk would have me do. I will not work. All connection indicator lights are green (or blue in the 160N's case) for the internet connection's path. The 160N will not recognize the modem and the DHCP will not work. Yes, I went into the 192.168.1.1 control panel stuff. It's set to have the internet picked up by DHCP, and under the info tab I kept trying the drop ip and renew ip buttons. Always at 0.0.0.0. During the autosetup installation, it told me it could not detect my internet and all the connection lights showed a working connection. Using the EasyLink GUI, it could not autoresolve the issue or recognize my Westell 2110 modem it was trying to talk to. I reset the power (waiting 15 seconds before plugging it back in) on each device in every order and combination possible. I've tried different cables. Nothing works. It just won't talk with my Westell 2110.
Option B I would prefer over A as I could set up better protection from the internet. It would also solve the problem of my router and modem hating each other. It will not work. My computer refuses to find which connection is the internet when I have more than one active. The windows network wizard utility does not resolve this (yes, I set it to "this computer is a gateway" and selected the modem connection as the internet and the 160N as the connection to the rest of the LAN. Still doesn't work right). I can't seem to find anything for a setting to designate a connection as THE internet connection for Windows XP, and activating connections in different orders or reorganizing them on the CP list does nothing. It sill tries to use the 160N which has no net connection or there's some kind of address conflict when I'm 95% certain both of them are set to different addresses, as I trust what the CP connection status panel says. I've never had this problem at wired LANs. It's never happend with Adhoc either.
Option C is the optimal setup. It will not work. My Xbox 360 suffered severe hardware failure when I booted it up before even connecting anything. It was working perfectly just an hour before. I'm kind of ticked off at the universe right now. Ignoring that setback, I bought the 160N on a gamble. Either it was the V1, DD-WRT supported, or V2, DD-WRT WIP. It's a V2 which means I'll have to wait. I know that the DD-WRT frimware supports using a wireless router essentially as a wireless dongle that's cheaper than the official Xbox 360 dongle and was told it could simultaniously serve as a range extending router for the rest of my home network too. Two birds in one stone, saving me about 80$. Is it possible with the official 160N firmware to do this? Would I suffer any severe network preformance issues streaming the net across an extra dongle as compared to the default topography that goes directly to/from the 160N? All wireless adaptors in my network are 802.11N compatible.
I am uncertain on the SSID settings. I shut SSID broadcast off in the 160N control panel, but I can still pick it up on my wireless adaptors. I was told I could just shutoff the broadcast, and then someone would have to know the network was there and know the SSID to find it rather than it automatically pop up in the availible networks list. It still comes up automatically, just without a name. How do I make it "invisible"? Or was my friend who told me this just messing with me?
All my attempts to resolve issues were done at first on the revision 11 firmware, and then on the revision 8. Neither work. I have already read I should use OpenDNS with revision 8. Should I just return this router and pick up a classic WRT54G off craigslist for like 30$?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

First of all who is your ISP ( Cable or DSL ).If you are trying to configure your router using the Setup disk, its better you configure it manually.
Click Here to configure your router with Cable ISP.

  • W\RT 160N

I have set up a WRT 160N for WEP128  bit security.  A new HP desktop with wireless N, a legacy HP, bu\ laptop, and a HP Officejet HP7410 all-in-one, and my iPhone connect just fine.  My new Dell Studio will not connect.  I have set it up with the WEP  key but get a message that the network needs either a certificate or a log on name and  password.  Any suggestions on the Dell connection problem.

First of all, WEP is almost useless as far a security is concerned...a chimp with a laptop and software anyone can download from the internet can crack it is less than 30 seconds...if you want your wireless network to be secure, use WPA or WPA2 (WPA2 is preferred) with AES encryption.
Secondly, which version of the 160N do you have?
There is a known issue with intermittent connectivity and the Build 11 firmware for the WRT160N V2. Build 11 is the current firmware on the Linksys site. Check to see if you have Build 11 if your router is a V2.
Downgrading to Build 8 is generally accepted to correct these issues, however Linksys have indicated to several people they do not have the build 8 firmware to give to end users.
This is ONLY for WRT160N V2 routers. This firware will not work on WRT160N V1.
You can find it at http://audipages.com/router/
I would highly recommend having stable firmware (ie build 8) on your router before proceeding.

  • WRT 160N Games loosing network connections

When I am playing MW2 and Socom Confrontation (on PS3) or any game I get a message, and go to the main screen saying No internet connection deteced you must have a active network connection to play this game.  I not only get this from online gameplay, but even if I leave myself signed in I lose the internet and the same message occurs.  I checked with my laptop EasyLink Adviser map and the whole network goes down.  It's not the PS3 because I had it serveced for a diffrent issue with video, but this is ridiculous.  I paid 75 dollars for this router and im pretty mad with Linksys because the same thing happened with my G Linksys router.  ....More Info  My network provider is BrightHouse but this also happenes with Knology.  The WRT 160N v.3 is wireless what's wrong? Someone please help ME!!!  I'm going to throw the router through a window then pick it up and go to another WINDOW!!

When the internet goes down on your PS3, at that moment you can check if you are still able to go online from your Laptop or not?
On your Router setup page change the MTU size to 1365 and click on save Settings and then click on the Wireless tab and below change the Wireless Channel to 11 and then click on the "Advance Wireless Settings" and below Change the Beacon Interval to 50 ...Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 ...Click on "Save Settings"...

  • Issue with Backup NNHOP TE Tunnel with Auto-Tunnel Backup !

    Hi All
I am trying to implement NNHOP Backup Tunnel(Manual) to achieve Node Protection. The Network Topology is attached along with.
I am using TE Auto-Tunnel to achieve Link Protection via Dynamic Backup Tunnels.
I am building NNHOP Tunnel from core1.pop1(10.0.2.1) to core1.pop2(10.0.5.1) and One Hop Dynamic Primary and Backup Auto-TE Tunnels are being dynamically between the core routers .
I have kep the autoroute metric for NNHOP TE Tu100 more so that under normal no problem condition traffic between edge routers does not flows across this path as Tu100 will be preferred without altering for all the routes learnt behind them
Now the problem is for Node Protection when core2.pop2 is down, the traffic gets rerouted via core2.pop1 but not over Backup NNHOP Tunnel and instead over the the Primary Auto-Tunnel (as they have better metric) between core1.pop1 and core2.pop1 and core2.pop1 and core1.pop2. The Traffic is still flowing between my edge routers but not over my desired LSP..
I am not able to control this beahviour as if I don;t alter the metric for NNHOP TE Tu100 all my traffic starts flowing across them during normal no problem conditions too.
Any suggestions how to optimise the traffic flow ?
    Regards
    Vaibhava Varma

    Hi Olivier
I am not considering Manual Primary Tunnel for now. WIll give it a thought later.
Meanwhile I have achived the solution for my above problem using event manager applet. Everything is working fine now.
Also I don't think Manual or Auto-Tunnel will make any difference as the underlying issue here is presence of a Primary NHOP Tunnel towards backup
core router  in the path of NNHOP Tunnel which is causing the NNHOP Tunnel to be not preferred. The only way it seems to solve this issue to me is to not have any Primary Tunnel NHOP Tunnel between the PLR and Backup Core Router.

  • IP-Fast Reroute with MPLS remote LFA tunnels

I have a simple ring network with 4 3600Xs with IP/MPLS 10 gig backbone between all units (with OSPF running in the core).  Per the 3600 design guide I turned on IPFRR under OSPF for fast reroute of traffic around faults.  I have a l3vpn on the 3600s that I'm using to test.  The FRR works quite well when the repair route is a ECMP (equal cost multipath) route, I don't even notice an interruption in ping between l3vpn sites when an 'active' link goes down.
The issue arises when the repair route is a remote-LFA (loop free alternative) MPLS tunnel.  I've done a few tests, and the failover time when the repair route is a remote LFA tunnel is the same as when FRR isn't turned on at all, it's just the normal route convergence time and there is a significant traffic interruption (as compared to FRR when an ECMP route is the repair route).
The thing is I'm not quite sure how even to diagnose this.  I was thinking that maybe the remote FLA tunnel was using the link that failed, so it in essence was 'down' as well, hence the traffic interruption as routing fully converged.  But I looked at the remote-LFA interfaces, and as much as I understand them they are taking the right path out of the router anyway (that is, away from the link that would fail in order to activate the remote-LFA route).
Are there any resources or tips to help troubleshoot why these remote-LFA tunnel repair routes don't seem to be working well?

Thanks for the reply Nagendra.  When you ask if I've seen the back path installed in RIB/FIB, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.  I do see repair paths referncing remote LFAs on both the 3600 that would be the source and the destination of the test traffic.  Like this:
      * 172.16.0.3, from 10.10.10.3, 01:55:50 ago, via TenGigabitEthernet0/2
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
          Repair Path: 10.10.10.4, via MPLS-Remote-Lfa40
    and on the other router:
      * 172.16.0.2, from 10.10.10.1, 01:56:34 ago, via TenGigabitEthernet0/1
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
          Repair Path: 10.10.10.2, via MPLS-Remote-Lfa32
If you're looking for some specific command output, let me know.

  • Add another computer to a WRT 160N

On Thursday I bought a new WRT 160N. I followed the instructions and I can connect my wife's laptop to the new wireless network with no problem. Managing the network, connecting to the internet wirelessly, etc. with my wife's computer is a snap. Trying to connect my 6-year-old laptop to wireless internet through the new router is another story. My laptop can see the wireless network. But when I try to connect, enter in the WEP given in the EasyLink Advisor, and wait for the internet to work, my computer pings the network but nothing happens. Adding to my frustration is this: my network (which I run through my wife's laptop) can see my old laptop. When I follow the prompts to add my laptop to my wireless network, it asks if I the computer has a removable media device. I click yes, follow the directions (insert the USB device into the old computer--which it has no trouble reading), and the network says that no USB device could be detected. When I try to outsmart the EasyLink advisor and say that my old computer does not have a USB media device and go through the prompts the EasyLink Advisor eventually brings up a window with my network's security settings that I should use to connect my old laptop to the network. The only problem is that the computer only displays the top 1/3 of the relevant letters and numbers (we don't have a printer yet). Even if I could read or print the relevant information, I wouldn't know where to enter it on my old laptop.
All I want to do is connect my old laptop to the internet without entering in a long string of letters and numbers or relying on my wife's computer. I also want to make sure that connecting the old laptop does not leave my network open to intruders.

I have the same issues!  My laptop is only 2 years old however.  This is what I did to fix the issues.  FIRST: GET RID OF THE LINKSYS SOFTWARE off ur old computer!  Let the laptop find the router and connect with its default software.  SECOND: go to ur router setup(the website that is the router IP) under the "Wireless" tab set the "Network Mode" to Wireless-G only" as ur old computer probably cant use the N.  When I had it on "Mixed" which means it should use all the types it had MANY issues with the old computer....  I hope these things help you!
message me if you need help, I am pulling my hair out trying to fix MY issues... as in the lack of connectivity in an 850 sq ft apt... Ultra Range eh???

  • Upgrading from 54g to a 160N router

I have a home network sharing files and printers.  I have had a wrt54g wireless router for the severla months and I have not had any major issues with the internet or home networking.  I moved to a new home with 2 floors.  I noticed that the signal strenght became LOW on the lap tops.  I was told to upgrade to a wrt160N router so that the signal strenght would improve greatly.  I installed the new router and since then I have had nothing but trouble.  Now I cannot see the list of the other computers on my home network.  I can only see the one computer, depending which one I am on.  I cannot see the other computers or their shared files at all.  I have contacted Linksys 15 times in the past 2 weeks trying to get help.  I keep getting disconnected after being placed on hold for hours each time or I get a tech that really does not know how to help me or doesn't want to even try and help.  I have been told that a senior tech needs to help me with this issue but I can never be placed thru to one without being disconnected every time.  For some strange reason I get disconnected each time.  All I want to be able to do is to have what I had all along and that is a home network which I am able to see each computer and its shared folders, files and printers.  I want to be able to access them only at my home and not remotely.  I want to be able for all of my computers to have access to the internet as usual.  This is what I had until I call myself getting something bigger and better.  I have lost my home networking capabilities, but I am able to access the internet from all the computers.  How can I get back to where I was.  The tech support say they do not support home networking.  I thought that that is what they specialized in the networking, be it home or internet.  In the past I was able to get assistance from them, now they say that they do not support home networking, they only help you get to the internet.  Well the internet is not the main reason for having a home network using the wireless 54G or the 160N.  If there are some settings, that Linksys tech support is not sharing for some reason or another, please hlep me and let me know what the setting are so I can get my home office back together again.  I have a home business and I have always used the basic home network that is provided by microsoft for my systems via the wireless54g.  By the way, I have contacted Microsoft, my cable IP, and both say that there is not an issue with their end, it is the Linksys device being that I had no issues until I changed units.  If there is a solution out there, I beg you to please share it with me, otherwise, I will be forced to return the 160N and go back to my original setup with a low internet signal, but at least I will be networked together and have the ability to share files without having to run from computer to computer all the time.  In the subject line, please put the word SOLUTION so I can distinguish it from junk mail.  Thanks.

Hyperlink Techologies.com offers some innovative products for wireless communications.  One such item is another wifi antenna, Where you can place the antenna in another room or floor.  Of course, you can't go wrong with upgrading to  the N router.

  • RSVP Hello for Fast Reroute

    Hi,
i am trying to set up TE tunnels with Fast Reroute protection. As i am using FastEthernet and GigabitEthernet links i need to use RSVP Hello for link or node failure detection.
I have a little problem understanding and properly configuring the rsvp hello feature. The topology looks as follows:
    PE1 - P1 - PE2
      |                |
    P3 ----------- P4
I am trying to set up fast reroute to  protect the connection PE1-P1-PE2 with backup path PE1-P3-P4-PE2. Both primary and backup tunnels are set up and working. I configure RSVP Hello on the link between PE1 and P1 with following commands on  PE1 and P1:
    PE1#configure terminal
    PE1(config)#interface Fastethernet 0/0
    PE1(config-if)ip rsvp signalling hello
PE1(config-if)ip rsvp signalling hello refresh interval 50
    P1#configure terminal
    P1(config)#interface Fastethernet 0/0
    P1(config-if)ip rsvp signalling hello
P1(config-if)ip rsvp signalling hello refresh interval 50
After issuing the sh ip rsvp hello instance detail command on PE1 i can see that the RSVP hello session is active:
    Neighbor 195.10.3.1 (router ID: 3.3.3.3)  Source  195.10.3.254
        Type: Active    (sending requests)
        I/F:  FastEthernet0/0
        State:   Up        (Since: 2012 January Thursday 12 00:14:22 )
        Clients: Fast Reroute
        LSPs protecting: 1
Missed acks: 4, IP DSCP: 0x30
        Refresh Interval (msec)
          Configured: 50
However on the P1 router the output shows different values:
    Neighbor 195.10.3.254 (router ID: 33.33.33.33)  Source  195.10.3.1
        Type: Active    (sending requests)
        I/F:  FastEthernet0/0
        State:   Up        (Since: 2012 January Wednesday 11 23:43:18 )
        Clients: ReRoute
        LSPs protecting: 3
Missed acks: 4, IP DSCP: 0x30
        Refresh Interval (msec)
          Configured: 2000
The configuration guide for IOS 12.2SR refers to active instances:
If a neighbor is unreachable when an LSP is ready  to be fast  rerouted, an active Hello instance is needed. Create an  active Hello  instance for each neighbor with at least one LSP in this  state.
    and to passive instances:
Passive  Hello instances respond to Hello Request  messages (sending Ack  messages), but do not initiate Hello Request  messages and do not cause  LSPs to be fast rerouted.
At this point i am not sure if i configured the RSVP Hello properly. After shuting the interface FastEthernet 0/0 on P1 down i do get the backup tunnel active and rerouted, but the convergence time is too slow. I would expect the convergence time to be 4xRSVP Hello interval which is 4x50=200ms. However, the testing revealed the convergence time to be round 2,5 seconds. My goal is to get the convergence time under 300ms.
The question is, what is the actual difference between active and passive rsvp hello session? What does the Clients statement in the sh ip rsvp hello instance detail command mean and shoud i see the same interval on both ends of the link?
If you need any other specification, i will provide any other show command outputs necessary.
Thank you for any help or clarifiation.
    Adrian

    Adrian,
Would it be possible to post the relevant tunnel configurations from your PE routers? From what you described, I am not sure if you want to achieve an MPLS path protection, MPLS link protection (NHOP) or MPLS node protection (NNHOP) here.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Raising Customer Messages with SAP OSS on BCS issues

    Hi guys,
I'd be keen to know everyone's opinion on raising customer messages with SAP OSS, in particular on BCS.
Often I find that my colleagues are hesitant to raise a note with SAP because they think it either takes too long or they don't get a satisfactory answer.
Whereas as soon as I see something fishy, that I cannot explain I will check my logic once more, check on SDN, check existing OSS notes, then raise a Customer Message immediately (while I continue to investigate/test).
This is partly due to my experience that half the time I feel like a guinea pig in BCS, perhaps because BCS is not as widespread as other modules and i may be the first to try something so may be first to experience the problem.
The first line response (often from Shanghai) usually tries to send the message straight back but I find with a little persistence, clear (and irrefutable) documentation , you soon get through to the experts in Germany (or is it Czech Rep?) who actually understand the issue.
The client has paid a lot of money for the service through their SAP licensing and maintenance fees, so I have no qualms about 'reporting a product error' when I see one.
Also, I find a lot of BCS documentation is out of date, not updated as new releases/EHPs come out, eg I recently relied on the contents of OSS note 936590, which was wrong for BCS 604. So I raised a customer message and requested that they update it, which has now been done - this is too late for me but might help someone else.
Raising a Customer Message with OSS is not an excuse to avoid doing your job, but where there is a genuine error in BCS, I encourage others to raise OSS notes and persis with them until a satisfatcory response is received.

The situation is almost the same: the 1st line support (India) very often beat back the costomer message without going deep into the problem. However, if we persist and provide additional details (or when the message was made very professionally and bypassed the 1st line) the message was rerouted to consultants from Czeck Rep.). In this case the progress was significant. Since the client do not provide access to the system, in a couple of times we made a remote session: the support guy gave directions what to do in the system and where to look for some details. The problems were solved in a half an hour.

  • Is there a google toolbar to install for fiefox 3.6. I have one but whenever I try to use it I get rerouted to IE.

I just updated to the FF3.6. I had a previous version that I haven't used in ages because of a image copy and paste issue and the program loaded way too slow. I had a google toolbar on FF before I updated that worked fine. My email is a gmail account. Now when I try to use the toolbar it reroutes me to IE.
    windows xp
    FF 3.6.13
I closed the google toolbar thinking if I did that and reopened it it would somehow magically stay in firefox. But I can't find it to add it back on. Is there a google toolbar to download for this version of firefox. It had neat buttons like spell check etc. Now I cannot get to my gmail account either.

You appear to already have the Google Toolbar installed. In the View menu select Toolbars, if the Google Toolbar is listed there click on its name to display it.
If you have uninstalled the Google Toolbar, you can re-install it from www.google.com/tools/firefox/
