If the carriage makes a swath then pauses for 10-15 seconds, then makes another swath it is likely a cartridge that either has an interconnect issue or has failed.  Try removing the cartridges and cleaning the contacts as shown here (different cartridges but same principal). If this does not correct the problem then try removing the color cartridge and printing a page. (I am not sure the AIO will print with a cartridge removed).  If this prints at normal speed it would indicate the problem is with the color cartridge.  If the printer prints normally then replace the color cartridge and remove the black cartridge, then send a test print.  If this prints close to normal speed (will be a bit slower) then the issue was the black cartridge.  replacing the bad cartridge should resolve the issue.
If the carriage takes hundreds of swaths to print a page with no noticeable delays between the swaths then it is likely printing in photo paper mode.  If you are printing on plain paper check the driver settings.

On my iBook G4, the printer comes up under Shared Printers in the Printer Setup Utility but when I click on it, and press Show Info it freezes.. so I was wondering, is there a way to connect to the printer wirelessly with the correct driver (because the driver doesn't show up in the driver list... and the driver is installed.)

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

    Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
    I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

    I lent a friend my 1610 All In One when his printer died, he bought new cartridges and it worked well.  The next day however blue does not print. He uses an older Mac before we run out to buy a new cartridge i wanted to get any suggestions you may have.  I did not have this problem when i was using the printer

    HP PSC 1610 All-In-One doesn't see that paper is loaded and keeps asking me to load paper and press OK. I have done that per manual with no success. What's going on?

    OK, I think this was among a series of "recalled" (years ago) printers where the feed rollers would become coated with a very slick substance that was outgassing from the rubber.  There was a cleaning kit made for this but I am not sure it is still available.  Instructions for it are here.
    It the absence of the kit, you can clean the rollers manually by removing the rear door and scrubbing the three rollers with Scotchbrite.  Red was used in the kit, but green may be aggressive enough to do the job.  You may have to fiddle with the printer to clean the entire circumference of the three rollers.  Once you do this, you will be good to go for years to come!

    Just to add some extra clarification for you, your PSC 1610 is not able to ePrint, as it was released before HP applied the ePrint technology to their printers. Generally any of the new printers are ePrint capable, so if you are wanting to acquire an HP ePrint enabled printer you can contact HP Tech Support at 1-800-474-6836 and see what sort of deals they have to get you an ePrint enabled printer.

  • 1610 all in one printer

    My computer is a Gateway GT4024 connected to my 1610 printer via a USB port.  My wifes computer is an HP750N and is NOT commected to the printer with a cable..  Both operate on an XP platform.  We have a LINKSYS wireless router and both computers have a wireless card.  Until last week, both of us could send files to the printer and would print successfully.  Now my wife can still print from her computer but I cannot.  When I right click on the printer icon and open all printers and faxes, I see where the file I want to print is in the queue but somehow it's not going to the printer to be printed.  I tired to print from my computer from WORDPAD but no success.  I've reinstalled the software, disconnected the printer for 5 seconds, restarted my computer...still no printing from my computer but we can still print from my wifes computer...any suggestions of what I might try???

    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer and not having Software installed for your Mac 10.8 system. Your Mac would automatically install any software or drivers needed to operate the printer.
    If the printer is not starting up there could be an issue with the wall outlet or the adapter. Here is a document on troubleshooting the printer not coming on.

  • Pcs 1610 all in one stops printing in middle of web page prints shows error-rese​t on q.

    when i try to print coupons and other web page prints printing starts then stops in the middle of page the read out on the printer shows printing when i try to either turn off or cancel print out on the printer nothing happens i can only unplug printer to get it to release. also must cancel document in q. to remove problem.  paid iyogi big bucks they say it must be hardware, and of course it is long out of warranty. XP system

    I'm having trouble finding a product for the HP 4550 all-in-one.  I can find an HP 4550 laserjet and an HP Photosmart c4500 series printers.  Can you provide more detail about the product?
    Looking at your post and the fact that the shadow appeared after you replaced the black cartridge, I wonder if this is caused because your cartridges aren't aligned.  If your product has a LCD screen, look for an option to align your cartridges - likely under 'tools' or something like that in the menu.  Try aligning the cartridges and see if that helps.
    If you can provide some more details about your product, I could point you to more detailed alignment steps.

    Not sure if this code is correct. I've tried taking out cartridges, unplugging. There is a failure in the paper alignment and it just flashes this code.

    Hey Chuck,
    I guess you're using either an HP95 or HP97 cartridge right?
    One of the most common causes of this would dirty contacts between your printer and cartridge. I'd take the cartridge out and clean the electrical contacts to see if that helps to begin with.

    Hi - Follow the steps to reset the product, located in this document.  Hopefully that will resolve the issue.  If not, the printer will likely need to be serviced or replaced.

  • HP 1610 All-in-one drivers not seen by Printer Setup Utility

    Just got this new for christmas. I downloaded the latest software and installed it. It was "successful". Everything with the software and the printer seems to be OK. When I go to add the printer to Printer Setup Utility I see the printer icon with a ? overlayed on the list followed by the printer name, followed by "no drivers installed". The "add" button is grayed out so that the printer can't be added. I can scan with the software I installed, and everything else seems to work except printing. Looks like to me that the problem lies with the PSU. I spent about an hour and a half on the phone with a very helpful HP Tech., but no-go. I repaired permissions, but that didn't help. The unit is seen by the System Profiler. PSU is v.3.0. I am using "Panther" 10.3.5. Sure would like some suggestions... Thanks!

     I  did as you suggested but it did not fix the problem. The software seems to be working but the HP device 4620 printer etc will still not connect to the router/network. I am still getting the message wrong password when the correct password is used

  • PSC 1610 All-in-One error:0x880f253c

    I'm getting an error message and cannot print. The printer starts to print then stops, tells me that the print job failed then tries to start again and stops. I get an error message on the printer display panel error:0x880f253c. After I've cancelled the print job and shut off the printer the error message appears a couple of times and I have to shut it off again. I've tried unplugging it for a minute and plugging it back in but still get the same error message. How can I fix this? Thanks. 

    It looks like you've done what is recommended to resolve that error.  See the document listed below:

    The only other thing it mentions is to removed the cartridges first, then disconnect the power cord.
    If that doesn't take care of it, it looks like it will need to be serviced.  Wish I had better news.

  • All-in-one printer via Print Server

    Hello-
    I'm trying set my HP PSC 1610 All-In-One printer up to be shared and get it off the desk and into the closet. I'm thinking that a little printserver would handle this quite nicely but I'm concerned about how scanning would work through the print server. I can't find any information about this online and since the 1610 is not network enabled by default I'm worried I won't be able to scan. Any experience with this?

    HP wrote its OS X drivers to ONLY work via USB. If you can find third-party drivers, you may be able to get it to work. Networkable OS X "CUPS" print drivers:

  • My HP1610 all in one prints top of page, unable to read faint printing on majority of page.New cartr

    I have installed a new black cartridge in my 1610 All in One, Previous cartridge was low on ink when it stopped printing the majority of the page. Print test on new cartridge is fine. Top of page and all of line border is fine. From 1 1/2 inch from top printing is too faint to read. Line border prints completely. Bottom of page prints faintly but enough to read. What now?

    Welcome to the HP Community , I read through your post about the printing issues you have been having, and I hope to help you! Seeing how the printer will make copies and test print tells us that the printer itself is fine and there is no hardware issues. However, seeing how printing from two different computers will not work, flags a software problem on the computers. Please try out the steps below and get back to me with the results and we will go from there. If you did not install the Full Driver, run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows to search and install the complete driver and software. This will need to run on both computers individually. Manually restart the print spoolers on the computers:1. Click Start
    2. Type "Services" in the search field.
    3. Open SERVICES
    4. At the bottom, click "Extended View"
    5. Search for Print Spooler
    6. Right-click it and choose Properties
    7. Select as Automatic in the drop down box, close the Window
    8. Right click on Print Spooler and choose "Stop", wait until it stops and then right click again and "Start".
    9. Close out of Services and try printing from Notepad.10. Try printing from a web browser now, if there is a problem with the print, try a different web browser.  Show thanks for my reply to help you today by hitting the "thumbs up" icon below!I hope to hear from you, good luck! 

  • Printing from Internet with Vista and Hp all in one 1610

    I have a new computer and installed my HP all in one 1610 printer.  The printer works perfectly well when I print from Microsoft Office but not from internet explorer.  I have tried diagnostics and reinstalled printer drivers but no success.  The print job goes to the print queue and disappears as if it is printed but the printer does not print.  Any suggestions?

    Just curious, have you tried printing from another browser? Cos if you're able to print from other applications, and not from IE, then I don't think it is a printer problem, but rather a problem with IE.
