16GB 3GS unlock?

Hi, I was wondering whether it's possible to unlock legally the iPhone 3GS? It's running on 3.1.3 software and it's on o2? Would it be possible to unlock it at Apple store?
thanks for all answers

i went to o2 store but they said they would only do it if i was on contract with them and after 12 months
You can do it through their web-site and you can do it at anytime. If the phone came from O2 originally on PAYG then they'll charge you £15 and for contract customers it's free. But you need the original O2 SIM card in it.

I have a 16GB 3GS phone since about20 months now. For the last few days, my phone is constantly giving me message that the accessory attached to my phone is not optimized for this iphone. You may experience noise or poor communication, while there is no acessory attached to it. I always used standard headphones and charging cable. Now when i recall, it started at one of the sync sessions with my itunes. I have turned my phone off and aon again and again but the message keeps coming every one or two minutes.I have also started loosing voicce on different applications like youtube etc. Also the ringer volume up and down key does not show me the small boxes increasing or decreasing on screen. The phone is playing crazy. Can someone help please
    Thanks

It helped earlier but it has come back again. I don't know what to do. I tried what you said earlier but this time even this is not working either. And quite intrestingly my phone won't turn off. I turn it off, it goes off and then restarts on its own and then keep giving the same message again and again.
Could it be a charging cable, is there any chance that the cable which was working fine one day could turn to be "incompatible" with iphone the other day????????
    Please help

I got my Iphone 3gs unlocked, but Navigation and Compass are not working. Please help if anybody had faced this problem and got it resolved.

Only the carrier that the iPhone was locked to can unlock. There you go, hacking void any support from this forum.

  • How can i buy an i-phone 3GS (unlocked version) from US.

My query is how can i buy an iphone 3gs from US without taking any contract and use it in India. Can i buy an Iphone 3gs (factory unlocked version) and use it in India by taking the mobile service provider of my own country. I also want to know the price of the iphone 3gs (unlocked version)in US. Can it be shipped to me.

You don't need to come to the US to purchase a US iPhone. There are already thousands(estimate based on the daily posts we get here), most likely unused sitting in drawers in India right now. Just run an ad in your local paper...you most likely could purchase one or more cheap. They don't work and are all locked to AT&T, but that shouldn't matter...you'll have your US iPhone, no need to travel anywhere. Once you get it, and it doesn't work, don't bother posting here, we can't help you! .

  • How can i get an iphone 3gs unlocked to any network?

how can i get an iphone 3gs unlocked to any network?

Only the cell carrier to whom the iPhone is locked can authorize an unlock, so you will need to contact the carrier. Note that if the iPhone is locked to AT&T, they will not unlock an iPhone at any time for any reason.

  • 3gs unlocked and jailbroke. everything works except data roaming, how can i fix this? in us

I have a 3gs unlocked and jailbroke on tmobiles network. everything works except data roaming, pdp athentication failure, how can I fix this?

Jailbreak voids your warranty.  It tends to brick your device, and you surrender any help from Apple or this forum.
You need to find your own path through this.

  • Vechr good guys please tell me I can not activate iphone 3gs unlock after the official sees no sim card

vechr good guys please tell me I can not activate iphone 3gs unlock after the official sees no sim card

    Disable your antivirus and firewall.
If that doesn't fix it either the phone was jailbroken or hacked, or the computer you are using was used to hack or jailbreak some other iDevice.

  • Replacement for the 16gb 3Gs

I was just curious. If I have a warranty issue and ultimately they have to replace the phone, will they replace my 16gb 3Gs with a 16gb iPhone 4?? Has anyone had this experience before or know of someone who this has happened to?? Thanx

However, since the 3Gs 16 and 32 gb models have been phased out, once the replacement stock has been depleted, future replacements will be with an iPhone 4 of the same size
No kidding, and nothing has been provided that says anything different. This is the same with just about every other product sold in the U.S. in regards to an exchange under warranty. By California law in the U.S. since Apple is based in the U.S. and maybe by U.S. law as well, Apple must keep on hand an adequate supply of inventory for every product sold. The minute a particular product is no longer sold, doing so does not get Apple off the hook to provide the same product as an exchange under warranty .

  • I brought iphone 4 16gb as unlocked but its showing sim shows no signali brought iphone 4 16gb as unlocked but its showing sim shows no signal what can i do ?

i brought iphone 4 16gb as unlocked but its showing sim no signal wt can i do now?

Showing that the sim has no signal does not mean that your phone is locked.  If you phone was locked, then it would come up with an invalid sim message instead.
If you have no signal, then try taking the sim card out of your phone and re-inserting it and then re-starting the phone and see if this works, but in the end you need to contract your phone company/carrier with regard to no signal.  What company sim card are you using?  You need to contact them as they provide the service and it is only them that can sort out why you are not receiving a signal with their sim card in your phone.

  • HT4623 have got an 3gs unlocked went to do the latest software update to which it ran through only to say at the end had to restore phone due to error have done this and now it wont work at all say please provide a valid carrier sim to activate wont have

need help with 3gs which has decided to go mad really thanks

Sounds like your phone was hacked to unlock. Restoring the phone put it back to Apple specs for that phone. You will need to find out which carrier it is locked to and see if you qualify for unlocking.

  • Official Orange UK 3Gs unlock. Help please!

Hi, I just paid for an official unlock on my Orange 3Gs. I was told that if I connect to iTunes, it would automatically unlock once it had been authorised. Day 3 and the "incompatible SIM" dialogue is still showing. Anyone know how long this official unlock should take and how I make it happen!
    Many thanks,
    Max

Apple *****. i have the same problem as Draxx. i bought a prepaid iphone 3gs from Orange UK and currently in india and i have asked orange to raise an unlock request with apple and i was told in 07 Feb 2010 and still i see the "incompatible SIM" and anywhere i go they are asking me to dump the iphone i had and then take a new one, but they are not going to give me a compatible SIM.
don't know why this mother ****** Steve Jobs company does this.
Apologies but this is the frustration i had and from this experience i will never encourage anyone to buy apple products.
    Regards

  • My 3GS unlocked ATT iphone wont active-help!

Greetings, our family has been ont he ATT Family plan for years. Ive got the new iPhone5, wife has 4S and mom has 3GS. My OLD iphone 3GS, which was unlocked via ATT was given to my little girl to play apps and music on and was working great until a week ago. I did update it to iOS6 and she had been using it with my OLD/Dead sim card-again NOT using it as a phone but like a ipod. All of a sudden, its not stating its needs to be activated but will not. Ive tried updateing over the air AND via connected to iTunes. The phone itself says that the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I have tried for over a week and I get the same message on the phone. How can I get this working??
To re-state: it WAS my old phone, its now unlocked, updated to IOS6, old/dead sim card sim card. Had been working great for access to apps & music but now need activation but wont activate.

Not sure this is the right fix for you, because for me the iPod app would stay open, but not play music when selected. I read in another thread a solution that worked for me.
Basically, you need to delete the music from the phone and re-copy from iTunes with 2 syncs. In the music tab, uncheck the boxes in the playlist, artist and genre option, removing all music from the phone, then sync. Then, re-check the desired music to copy back to the phone and sync. Music should play now from the phone.
I echo the sentiment of another poster that iOS4 really is a disaster. Problem like this should have been solved before release.

  • I just moved to the UK last week. I was originally told by an apple rep that I would be able to get my iphone 3gs unlocked here. I got here to find no one will unlock it. AT

I have an iphone 3gs I was using in the US on a prepaid account with AT&T. It was never on contract with them. My partner spoke to an apple rep who told us it wouldn't be a problem when I came and bring it to the Apple store & they would unlock it. Appears this is not true. O2 & Orange both said no. At&t won't do it. The apple store told me no as well. Is there anything to be done? Orange offered me 138gbp but then I would have to sign a contract with them for the free phone rather than just keep my old one & use a sim. I could use some advice please. Thank you!!

ONLY the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it. The carrier you are switching TO can NOT authorize unlocking a phone from the carrier you are switching FROM.
Unfortunately, if you have a 3Gs from the US, it is locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones for any reason. Your best bet is to sell your existing phone and get a new  you can actually use. The 3Gs is only good as an iPod Touch as long as you have it there.
