16gb of ram compatible with late model 2.4ghz 15" mbp?

read online that people are putting 16gb of ram in thier mbp. any issue known to anyone by doing that? anything info would help, thanks.

Hi ellachi,
I've had 16GB a little shy of two years.  I have a late 2011 MBP 15 inch.  You won't actually use the memory unless you have a memory intensive application like VMware fusion.
I do use virtualization for developer work, and it makes a huge difference to have 16 Gb.  I also use a windows VM to run MsOffice on a Windows 7 guest on my MBP.   When I'm not doing that; under normal use (I just checked right now), I use 5.17 GB of memory.
Buy very good RAM.  Don't buy the cheapest as intermittent memory problems are very difficult to diagnose.  Hope this helped and good luck.

If you can buy from Crucial, Amazon or macsales (OWC), I would (I know that Crucial and OWC ship internationally but I don't know about Amazon). Both have lifetime guarantees for their products and should not be affected at all during shipping.
Amazon has a better price on the Crucial RAM than even Crucial, by the way.

  • Is Photoshop Elements 13 compatible with late 2013 Mac Pro?

Does anyone here run PSE 13 smoothly on the late 2013 Mac Pro? My copy runs very sluggish on my Mac Pro even though it has a 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon processor with 16GB of RAM. For example, if I drag a slider, it does not move smoothly. The slider will jump after a second or two. Then a few seconds later, its effects are shown. If I move the mouse to a button, it will take awhile before it displays its name.
I use a 2nd copy of PSE 13 on my MacBook Pro with no problem at all.
I contacted Adobe support and they asked me to re-launch the PSE and reset the preference. It did not work. I then un-installed the PSE and re-installed it. The same problem still exists. What is worse is now my Mac Pro does not enter sleep mode.
Anyone here with good experience with PSE 13 on the latest Mac Pro? All other programs on my Mac Pro run well.

    Thanks
I can't understand why I can't install it on my MacBook Air.  I continue to get Exit Code: 7 with DW063 being the dominant errors.  the error statement says it is unable to get permissions of /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 13/Support files/ etc.
There is no Adobe Photoshop Elements folder on my computer.
I added a 2nd account with Admin privileges and got the same results.
I downloaded the install file from both Adobe and Amazon.

Hi folks I have a similar question. I already have purchased most of the components for my new build, including the following:
    Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 2011, X79, EATX, 8x DDR3, PCI, 5x PCI-e, Crossfire, SLi, 4x SATA-300, 6x SATA-600, 0, 1, 5, 10, 1Gbps, 2x eSATA, FW, 7x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0, PS/2, 7.1,
    Cooler Master HAF X
    Intel Core i7 3930K Boxed Socket 2011 cpu 3,2GHz
    Noctua NH-D14 Special Edition (LGA 2011) 140mm
Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W 80-plus-gold
    2x Intel 520 120GB 120GB SSD (OEM) SATA-600
    Zotac GeForce GTX 580 AMP2 815MHz 3GB GDDR5
The last component which I still haven't figured out is the RAM.
As I understand, the 3930k works (best) with 1,35v ram. My question is, will this 1,35v ram work on the Gigabyte mobo, which supports 1,5v memory? Or do I have to adjust something in the Bios in order to make the ram work properly? Or do I have a major problem here?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Any other suggestions on this build are welcome!

  • Is the 30" display compatible with late Macbook?

I have 3 apple laptops: MacBook Pro 2.4 (late 2007), a Macbook Air (early 2008) and a Macbook (early 2009). Are they all compatible with 30" apple cinema display? What's the best resolution Ican achieve with each one of the 3? Thanks so much.

Nope! Just the good old 30"...
The thing is that I went to a local apple shop and ask a guy to try and connect my new Macbook 2.4 (with the Mini Display/DVI adapter) to a 30" display, and the result was just terrible! I think the definition of the 30" was 800x600 or something!!! Just impossible....
The guy told me that would be the the best the new Macbook can do with the old 30" :-/, he "advised" me to buy the new 24" LED!...
    Do you believe this???
    Tks

To agree with what Peter stated, to use the Bridge app, you must have OS5 or greater on the handheld BlackBerry.
    I don't recall that the 8100 model ever got OS5... i don't think so.

  • MB ram compatible with iMac?

    Hi,
    i have a MacBook1,1 and i did a ram upgrade (from 1 to 2), so i have 2x512M rams, my father have a iMac20" first gen with 512M ram.
Is it possible to put the ram from the MB into the iMac?
if it's only a slot free in iMac, is best to replace the existing ram with the one from the MB?
    thanks
    ciprian

    Hi ciprian,
all Intel-Macs, with the exception of the Mac Pro, use the same 'kind' of RAM modules with the same specs.
So, yes, you can use the 2 modules in the iMac.
And yes, I would advise to put both in and put the one already in aside.

  • Is Oracle 7.3.2 server compatible with later client release?

    Hi,
We have an Data into an Oracle 7.3.2 server. A new application will be added that require an Oracle8 or greater client tool.
I searched and couldn't find any kind of server/client interoperability matrix. Can you please inform me what client version is compatible with that server version or which one is best suited? Can we use 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g?

The 8i docs have a matrix so you should check this doc first

A Oracle 11g client cannot connect to an Oracle 8i server. It clearly stated in the Oracle version compatibility matrix.
8i client can connect to any server from 7.3.4 to 11g
9iR1 client can connect to any server from 7.3.4 to 11g
9iR2 client can connect to any server from 8.1.7 to 11g
10g client can connect to any server from 8.1.7 to 11g (with some sub version not supported)
11g client can connect to any server from 9iR2 to 11g

  • Looking for 16GB RAM That is Compatible with Late-2011 17" Macbook Pro

    Hi guys,
I am looking to upgrade the RAM and Hard Drive in my late-2011 17" Macbook Pro. I've already found the hard drive I want to use, but I don't know as much about RAM, and I'm not sure which 16GB (2 x 8GB) kit would be both compatible and give me the best bang for my buck. I am in Canada so any suggestions linking to Canada Computers or NewEgg would be the best! I'd really appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Jacob

    First, goto OWC - https://www.macsales.com/
It has a guide for all things Mac & Memory
Second, get an SSD as it will speed up your computer tremendously.
OWC or Crucial are very good Mac-friendly brands.

  • EMac RAM compatible with Power Mac G4?

I am interested in a craigslist auction that is selling RAM pulled from an eMac. All the information given is that he has two 168-pin DIMMs of 128MB and 512MB memory. Will this work with a Power Mac G4/400Mhz/AGP graphics version? It also uses 168-pin memory.
    PowerMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4)   400MHz G4, 64MB RAM, 20GB HDD, AGP Graphics

Standard RAM for your G4 is 168-pin PC100. Early eMacs used 168-pin PC133 which should be backwards compatible but you need to get assurances. Later eMacs use 184-pin PC2700, same as the later G4 MDDs.
This RAM vendor's page has a good description of the RAM used in various Mac models. They also have decent prices so compare the price to what the private offering asks.

  • Is this RAM compatible with the TS130?

I found this RAM by doing a search with the stats of the RAM that comes with the TS130 and it's much cheaper, but I'm not sure if it will work. I noticed that this memory is simply DIMM instead of uDIMM, so I want to be sure before I buy it. Thanks!

RAM you get must be designated for your age and type of model in question.  Getting a specific timing such as
"....PC3 8500; the Amazon RAM is PC2 5300" is insufficient to guarantee compatibility.  First identify exactly what model you have according to Apple, then buy RAM from a vendor that says the RAM is for the age of model in question.  Here are tools to find your model and model age:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
And three vendors that sell by the age/model:
    http://www.datamem.com/ http://www.crucial.com/ http://www.macsales.com/
There may be others.  Do not buy valueRAM or any RAM without a lifetime warranty.

  • Is PC667 RAM compatible with SR5310F?

I have the original RAM for this machine (2x512MB = 1GB RAM) and would like to upgrade. I have 2 sticks of 1GB PC667 SDRAM that I want to replace it with, but when I boot up, it only shows 1GB of RAM still. Stranger yet, when I press F10 and go into the BIOS, it shows 2 sticks of 512MB RAM installed, and will not detect what is really there.
Is there a way to get this to work, or is the PC667 1GB RAM module just not compatible?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It may not be compatible or one module may have failed.
Always purchase guaranteed compatible memory modules from well known memory manufacturers (Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, G.Skill, Transcend). That way you won't get nasty surprises like modules not operating.

The specs of the corsair vengence seem to be the same as what goes into it and it is at a great price, the crucial memory is rather expencive and i cant buy of macsales as i live in ireland.
Not the same timings - the one you want is at CL 9 - the one being sold by OWC is at CL 11 which is 2 wait states slower.  The same goes with Crucial and Corsair - they're all at CL 11
The ones you want might work - you willing to take a chance?
Why not spend the extra $$ and get the one that's Apple Certified and not have any issues when you install them.
Here's a set of Kingston for your Macbook if you want to save some money.
In any event, it's all up to you.
Good luck with that - hope it goes smoothly for you.
