17" beeping like an alarm clock over and over...

My powerbook just started beeping like an alarm clock the tonight, and wouldn't stop till i shut it down....
but it seems otherwise ok
What the heck?

I ran tech tools, and hardware is ok... BUT
You know what's AWESOME????? I ran tech tools, then wondered why I got a kenel panic instead of a restart... over and over. So i searched on here and found out that my applecare techtools in NOT Tiger friendly???!!! AAAAHHH! When you "fix" the volume structure, it mean "fix" like tony soprano means it.
I'm on the phone with applecare right now, but it looks like i got rid of my cockroach problem by burning the house down.
WHAT A DISASTER.
thanks for your help, though it looks like i'm in trouble deep...

  • CAN I USE MY PC LIKE AN "ALARM CLOCK"????

I have an HP Touch Smart running Windows 8 (which I don't think means too much to this question).  O.K. Here it is- I'd like to set up my PC to send me "Alerts" kind of like an alarm clock.  If I need to be remimded of an appointment or if I put something in the oven & I need to go check in 1/2 hr, or esp. I want to get in on an auction & it starts in an hr. or so or a later date @ a certain time.  I'd like to st it up on my PC to alert me by a bell or whistle or even better a voice alert saying "the bla bla bla is starting at..."  Can I do this?  Thanks, I'm not great w/computers & how to use them to really simplify my life, normally, it just takes up a lot of my time as I can't type fast, have not set up speaking naturally as I ususally have background noise & think it would require "quiet" & I am also not great w/ instructions.  So all of you wonderfully smart people who know what they are doing, please help me!  Thanks much!

    Hi Mets4Me,
Windows 8 is actually quite relevant to your situation - it is Made for this stuff.  Smiling.
I do not know if there is actually "the exact APP" you seek out there, but you can certainly start looking and have some fun doing it.
On your Start Screen, anywhere on the screen, type "Store" > then Click on the "Store" icon to get into the Windows Store
Next, same thing:  You can start typing along the top part of the plain, white portion of the screen any words you want:  "alerts", or maybe "to do lists", or perhaps "clock"
The Apps that with context for the keyword(s) used will come up on the screen.  You can click on any of the selections to see more about each App.  Be aware that some of the Apps cost money -- not every App is free.
Alternatively, on the Main Store page
You can use your finger (for a touch screen) or your mouse and slide the bar on the bottom to the right to see the different categories.  Along about 3/4 of the way to the end of the way you will find "Productivity" (after Finance).  You can pick, for example, the "Top Free" Apps list.
Will you find something you like?  I do not know, but you might do so and if not, you might find something that will work well enough for the time being.
    Good luck!
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

How do you setup a reminder signal like an alarm clock?

  • Alarm Clock, Mail and TextFree With Voice

    Alarm Clock:
I woke up this morning on my own 19 minutes late because my alarm didn't go off! I RELY on that thing to get me up in the morning! When I checked it, it was going off in silent mode but the volume was all the way up and there were no headphones connected... I always make sure that the volume is up on everything, being that every app has it's own volume setting now >:(, every night before I go to bed...
    Mail:
I'm trying to delete my bulk mail and it's loading only so many at a time. One loading period will pull up maybe nine and the second loading period will load up five. And sometimes, when I highlight mail to delete them, they disappear before I even click delete...
    TextFree With Voice:
I am getting told by a few people that I'm not answering their calls, but it's not my fault being that it's not notifying me that someone is calling nor does it show up in my recent calls (missed calls) until maybe 30 minutes AFTER they call... In fact, it's STILL not showing me a certain recent call and I know for a fact that this person called me because it's the only number I gave them...
Oh and in addition to these problems (would have went to a different forum for this but it took me 5 minutes to even get this far)... Does anyone else have a problem with their iPod Touch 4G home button? Ever since I've gotten it, it seems like I have to press and hold or just press harder than any recent iPod Touch generation would require...

Well it could be a firmware issue with the router.. Try updating the router with a latest firmware from the cisco website.
And also try using the iPhone 4 with any other network like (Hotspot or Cafe) and see if the voice does work over there or not.
Also regarding the E1000 router , Try to change the wireless channel on the router you can try with channel 6 , 9 or 11 and then observe the iPhone connection. It could be an interference issue.

  • Alarm clock problem and question

My son is having problems with the alarm on his iPhone 3G. Sometimes it simply does not go off. He has tried resetting, it didn't help. I searched the forums and noticed that some other people have had the same problem. Perhaps the upcoming software update may help.
In the meantime, here is my question. There are several alarm clock apps in the app store. If he downloads one of those to use, will the battery drain be increased? He has heard that non apple apps like alarm clocks really drink up the battery life.
Any hints, clarifications, etc. greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I'm in Iraq and I use my alarm daily, to wake me up. I haven't had a problem, until I updated my phone to the 3.0 version software. I'm going to try to email support to see if there is a fix coming out; and if not, to notify them of the problem. I suggest anyone with this problem, do the same.

  • Is it safe for iPhone to run alarm clock app and be on all night, every night?

Is it safe for the screen to be on all night every night running an alarm clock app? Yes it is plugged in and charging.

I use the builtin alarm clock app all the time without any problems.
I don't plug the iPhone in because it appears to use very little battery while it is sleeping.

  • My macbook air is updated but now I can't download updates for My Alarm Clock, apps and iTunes.

My Mac will try to download the app to 100%, but then it tell me that it is unable to download. I have tried to turn off the firewall and restart. My itunes will not update My Alarm Clock or anything else.

(iTunes) iOS based apps (for iPhones, iPads, and the iPod touch) can be updated directly from the device.
Tap the App Store icon then tap Updates at the bottom of the display.
    For your Mac...
    -  Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
    -  Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Try updating the My Alarm Clock app.

  • Any indicators for  3rd party Radio alarm clock docks and iPhone 5?

Has Apple created any guidelines for the iPhone 5 when using an older radio alarm clock dock, using the lightning to 30 pin adapter ? My iPad is no problem, but my iPhone 5 (when I have it in hand) might be. Any ideas?

Don't worry about that! your laptop maybe slow battery, or keyboard error (stuck button keypad)

  • Alarm Clock apps?!?!?!?!?!?

This is quite ridiculous. The clock app that comes with the iPhone has absolutely NO customization options whatsoever when it comes to alarms, and its just flat out lame. (Apple really outdone themselves to keep everything absolutely simple, they failed, as in functionality, on this criteria this time)
I went on to search for alarm clock apps on the app store and found this free version of Alarm Clock Pro and tried it out, I liked it a bit, it offered a bit of customization than the built in clock app the iPhone comes with. So I went on ahead and bought the Pro version for .99 because the ads on the free version were annoying.
But wait, you have to leave the alarm clock app opened throughout the whole night for it to work to wake you up in the morning? HUH?? WHATS GOING ON?? I always wake up to find that half of the battery from my iPhone is drained because of the alarm app!!!! Ridiculous! I previously owned an android phone and was able to quickly find a free alarm clock app on the market that offered even more customization and all for free, and you dont need to have the app opened for it to work!!
Someone please tell me there is something else for the iPhone that can be like that, while I already wasted .99 cents on the suppose BEST alarm clock app for the iPhone, I'm even willing to pay for a new alarm app that offers the same exact thing the android has to offer.

Unfortunately no alarm clock app will wake you up to a mp3 from your library when it's not open.
This is something Apple has not allowed. We tried to come up with a solution ourselves with our alarm app but as other developers realized it cant be done . We are still working on a solution though; not giving up!
Our app if interested is alarm app that wakes you up and speaks short weather reports to you http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sleep-fm/id388631053?mt=8#
    cheers

  • Alarm Clock, Calculator icon, etc.

I was having problems with my Treo 650, so the Sprint service center did a hard reset. Now I am missing all kinds of icons on my phone. How do I get them back. For example, I don't have my alarm clock icon and my calculator icon. They have ordered a replacement phone, but I need the alarm clock and calculator now. Thanks.

    Thanks so much. It worked!
I didn't notice that it said "System". I guess it always said "All", so I never noticed the other selections.
I have had my Treo 650 for over 4 years. I took it in because my text messaging isn't working, and they did a hard reset. They have ordered a new phone for me, because they can't fix it.
    Thanks again!

  • Alarm clock off

My alarm clock widget keeps going off at times other than the one I set it for. I've reinstalled and rebooted the newest version several times. Tonight, for instance, it went off around 12:30AM instead of 9:30AM. ???

First try deleting the Preference folder of this widget, type this into Spotlight:
    widget-com.apple
You will see many options, find the alarm clock file and delete it.

  • Alarm Clock Issues

I created the alarm clock app and it works fine from when I self start up, but it does not auto wake to the time I set in the energy saving options menu. I tried letting it completely shut down and start itself up and just sleeping, but neither would result in it starting and running the app. Are there any minor details I could be missing?

  • Trying to re-install Snow Leopard over Lion and Macbook Pro is beeping like a memory failure

I installed Lion on my work 15" MacBook Pro i7 to give it a go, and it's not working with the system we use for Active Directory login, so I need to roll back to Snow Leopard.
I don't have a Time Machine backup, but I have pulled all the data I need from the machine, and have wiped the hard disk ready to reinstall Snow Leopard.
I have a retail copy of Snow Leopard that I've recently used successfully for fresh installs on other machines, but now once I insert the DVD into this machine that's had Lion on it, it's not responding and just making alarming BEEP BEEP BEEP noises.
I googled that and it might be bad RAM (possible, but unlikely? the machine has been running very well up until now)
I've wiped the PRAM, but the instructions for wiping the SMC are a bit cryptic for these machines ...
Does anyone have any clues as to what might be causing this? A firmware issue of some sort?
Maybe the hidden EFI partition on the drive won't let you install Snow Leopard over a disk that's had Lion?

Might be some useful info here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1175934
" I used target disk mode to install Snow Leopard on its partition. I used a friends Macbook Pro, but I put my machine into target disk mode and ran the installer from his user account and optical drive. From a couple things I read online, it seems that Apple recommends putting the other machine in target disk mode and doing it the other way around. I guess some critical files might not have been installed? I also used a retail copy of Snow Leopard instead of my grey recovery disk, so that might be it too. "
"Your machine is newer than the retail copy of Snow Leopard. Use the restore disks it came with.
The installation will need to be done from your machine. You may need to do a net install, so look at "Remote Install Mac OS X" in Utilities."
I'm currently installing from the macbook firewired to the other machine as recommended so hopefully that might help
