17" MBP has been shipped

For those who are expecting a 17-inch MBP: I received today a notice from Apple that my MBP has been shipped. It is now in the hands of TNT somewhere in the Netherlands and will arrive at my place (in Germany) on Monday or Tuesday.

Hello,
It happens in all apps.
Thanks for your reply.  Thus far, the update seems to have resolved the problem.  I hope it continues to be resolved!
Thanks again!

  • When will I receive my email that my iPhone 5 has been shipped?

I still have not received my email that my iPhone 5 has been shipped. I ordered at 6 in the morning on Friday. When I check my order all I get is this "We received your order and it is in process." But, it does say I should receive it this Friday. I'm just very anxious for this will be my first smartphone!

I ordered at 3:38 am EST online. I never recieved an email confirmation email. On 9/17 I saw that Verizon had charged my account for the phone.  So on today (9/18) I dail *611 from the phone that I applied the upgrade to then went to option 4 then said "order status".  Right away it said a text message would be sent to my phone with shipping information.  Before I could hang up they sent me the Fed Ex tracking number which said it was shipped from West Chester, PA @ 12:33a.m. on 9/18.  So I'm expecting mine maybe tomorrow or Thursday.  So I never recieved an email from Verizon, but I will be getting my phone before the release date how cool is that?

  • Mid-2009 MBP Has Been Hard Freezing, I think it may be the SSD or software?

Please read this fully so you don't end up suggesting something I've already tried.
I have the Mid-2009 version of the 13" MBP that I received in December 2009. Almost two years ago, I upgraded it to8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. Everything has been running smoothly until about 2 or so weeks ago. My computer has been having hard freezes, meaning, it's not simply an application freezing up; force quit doesn't work, the clock stops ticking, the whole system freezes. It was very predictable too. Whether i was watching youtube videos with flash, reading online articles without it (I have ad block) or doing something completely non-flash or web related, my computer would hard freeze after about an hour or two or so of use, requiring a hard reset (holding the power button until it turned off and then restarting).
I did some research on this and from what I initially found I thought it was problems with the motherboard. However, I found that to be odd because my motherboard was replaced by Apple in September 2012. I read somewhere to try a system hardware diagnostic test (press D upon start up). On the short hardware test, the one that only takes a few minutes, it passed without any problems. Then I tried the longer hardware test, the one that says takes more than an hour. I put that one on and left it alone. I came back every so often and checked on it and it was fine at first. The mouse responded and the test was showing some measurable progress. However I came back, and at 2 hours 11 minutes and 59 seconds into the hardware test, it froze without completing it.
Then I tried doing something everyone says to do when anything happens: I repaired disk permissions. I did that, and according to Disk utility everything went rather swimmingly. However, that didn't fix anything,in fact, it made things slightly worse. Ever since I reset disk permissions, everytime I open Safari, it freezes immediately, and that has only happened since I repaired disk permissions. My home page is about:blank, if anyone was wondering. I've only discovered this happening with Safari as of now. I switched Chrome as my primary web browser for now.
Being the resourceful person I am, I tried to isolate the problem. My sister, luckily, has an identical MBP. First, using target disk on my computer, I booted my SSD onto her computer - this is to see if the problem was HDD/SSD related or motherboard related. When I booted my SSD onto her computer the same problems occurred: Safari froze upon start up, and then computer would hard freeze after about two hours. However, when I booted her HDD onto my computer via target disk, there were no problems. Safari opened just fine and I used her computer for several hours without issue.
At this point, I was pretty sure it was the SSD, but I thought it was possibly a bad Sata cable or something. But nope. Last night, I switched harddrives completely. No target Disk. I put my SSD in her computer and put her HDD in my computer. I got the same results as target disk. It can't be the motherboard or memory, because both computers worked fine with my sisters harddrive. Only the computer booted off of the SSD would have these problems.
At this point I think it could be two possibilities
    A) Either the SSD itself is starting to become defective
    B) Some software component of my SSD is buggy
I think it could be something software related because why would Safari and safari only freeze after launch, but no other apps? Also something of note, these problems were happening, I tried to see if doing anything with software update would help, updated everything that needed to be updated, and these problems still occurred.
What do you guys think? anyone have an idea of what it could be? Any suggestions of how I handle this? Applecare is expired. I'm considering doing a clean install but I'm not fully backed up yet and I don't want to waste my time and have it not work. But I also don't want to buy a new hard drive or SSD and have it do the same things. And I'm not getting a new computer if the only problem with it is contained within the storage unit, whether that problem is within the software or hardware related.
Responses and suggestions would be highly appreciated, thanks.
EDIT: this information may be of interest: currently have 19.51 GB of available space (out of 256 GB). At one point, about a month and a half or so ago, my storage was as low as 9 or so GB free.
    I am running OSX 10.6.8

I have tried making a new user account like you suggested. It fixed the Safari problem; Safari opened and played video just fine. However, the computer still hard freezed after about 2 hours. I am about to back up my computer via time machine after this (hopefully it'll finish before it hard freezes again, I haven't backd up in more than a year). If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to move folders individually onto an external. I will proceed after backup with a clean install as that is my only other option for now.
However, after a clean install, should I restore directly from time machine? I would think wiping the hard drive and replacing it with what's on time machine wouldn't solve the problem because the inherent corruption is being restored. However, what about just restoring my User folder? What would the process be for getting everything back to normal as quickly as possible? Do you know of any good ways to get my apps and other preferences back to normal ASAP without corrupting anything? Will I have to re-register anything? For example, I have Adobe CS4 that I received from my highschool IT department. I have since graduated, so I don't have the disc or any of the password codes. Would it be risky to restore the application support folder (because that's where the bug may lie)? Or if I just drag just drag apps, would that still work or is the application support necessary too?

  • My MBP has been acting odd since installing N wireless update.

Since installing the N wireless protocol on my MBP my machine has been acting weird. It fails to see wireless networks, the system preferences fails to open at times. OSX freezes, Force quit doesn't actually quit the programs after they have frozen. Basically its so bad i am thinking about re-formatting my machine and starting again, (its only a week old)
Am I the only one who has this?

    Well..that is a bummer....
I did notice something else, don't know if it makes sense or not, but if the mac crashes while connected to my Airport Express at home, the Airport Express stops responding and all of the clients that are connected to it stop getting access to the Internet until I unplug it and plug it back in.
When the issue first arose, I thought it was a problem with the AP express, but since it happens even more frequently when using other routers, I know that is not the issue. Besides, everything was fine until I installed the Wireless-N update. I wonder if there is any way to remove the update?
I'll keep playing with it, but hopefully they find a solution soon. Being that our problem is exactly the same, I would be surprised if no one else is having this issue as well.

  • Correct procedure to cancel an order line after it has been ship confirmed?

    Hi,
I have a customer order that has been picked and ship confirmed and later cancelled by the customer. What is the correct procedure to cancel the order at this stage? Pick slip has been transmitted to warehouse via EDI.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Once an order is shipconfirmed, it can not be cancelled.
As the order has already been shipped, the other way through which you can fix this issue is that, create a RMA (Return Material Authorization) & receive the goods in your inventory.
If the original sales order has been invoiced, then you can create a receipt & Credit only RMA so as to fix your financial entries.
    Regards,
    Jyoti

  • Why did my order say it was shipped, last night it was in My Verizon and everything. I could not track it though. I looked this morning and Im still unable to track it and it is no longer in my orders, it says nothing has been shipped in the last 21 days.

Verizon what's going on with you guys? I already had to order again because somehow the person that helped me order it the first time CANCELLED my order. I've been waiting since OCTOBER 14th!! C'mon.

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • My one-month-old $4100 MBP has been superseded by a $2800 model!!

I know, I know, you can't expect your computer not to become outdated when new models come out, but I'm literally in shock right now. Less than a month ago I shelled out $4100 for a completely maxxed-out 2.5 ghz 15" MBP with antiglare screen, 512GB SSD, and 8GB RAM. Now I learn that the new standard model comes with equal or superior specs (faster processor, better screen, thinner, USB 3, HDMI port, etc.) for $2800?! That is really outrageous, no? If I want to get the new MBP I will have to take a huge loss when selling my current one.

Every MBP owner suffers the same fate as you.  As soon as you buy one, it simply a matter of time before a 'better' one comes out and displaces the one you have.  It is a matter of degree and clearly you are at the high end of this phenomenon.
When I purchased my current MBP, I made certain that I got the fastest CPU available only to be outclassed by a faster CPU a month later.  My irritation lasted about a day but I still had an excellent MBP and I no longer feel the least bit envious of any newer models that have been subsequently introduced.
You still have a first rate MBP and enjoy it.
    Ciao.

  • My Blackberry Passport has been shipped!

I got overnight shipping so I should be getting it tomorrow hopefully. Has anyone else gotten an email? I just got it a couple of minutes ago and wasnt expecting it until October 7th. Contacted Verizon customer support, still was told we should receive the iPhones on or before. Just checked, my status online and it still reads the phones will ship 9/24! Ah hello! It's now 9/29, where is the new update online.

  • My old silver bevel MBP has been bricked by 10.7.2.

I'm reading about people who can boot. How do you do that when your machine won't do anything except put the little flickering light on. I don't even get the tone. It just doesn't start anymore. Any assistance would be most welcome. Thank you.

Thanks, Thomas. You were absolutely right about the hardware issue. For others who may be having similar difficulties the completely black screen and can't boot any way at all, take your machine to the Apple store. I took mine and discovered my particular model has a known manufacturing flaw and Nvidia are footing the bill to replace my logic board. Definitely worth the trip.

  • My iPod nano has been shipped with delivery date of 10/15.

    Finally!

I saw you posted this on the forum:
I have an ipod nano 4th generation. I connected it into the computer to add some more songs, but when itunes started up, it said that itunes could not reconize my ipod. So i clicked "ok". And my ipod didnt show up. So then i went down to the right hand corner and safely removed my ipod by useing the "safely remove harware" thing. But when i looked at my ipod, it said 0 songs 0 movies etc.
After that i plugged it back into the computer, and all the almost all space was still taken up, 96.4 MB with photos and 6.26 GB with "other" stuff.
I know i can restore it but unfortunatly, most of my songs are not backed up on itunes. Because i have just moved and had to switch computers and i dont want to lose it all.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! What should i do to get my songs, video etc back??
(I hope im posting this in the right place)

  • I have a 2011 MBP, i7 13 inch.  My MBP has been lagging really badly and eating up bandwidth.  When I go to Activity Monitor, two things seem to be going off - syslogd and mtmd.  Their CPU percentage is really high.

Even typing this, the computer will lag and the fans are really loud.
When my partner is playing xbox, he lags really badly and when I turn off my computer, it stops.
Does anyone know what might be wrong with it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi...
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
