1720 VPN and Winproxy behind 826, VPN drop outs

DSL into 826. Winproxy and 1720 into 826.
1. Can the 826 prevent VPN traffic while allowing web traffic to flow thru Proxy?
2. Does the Proxy server setting in IE connection override default gateway IP?
The problem is that VPN clients have Default GW as IP to 1720 and proxy server WinProxy IP. Connections are unstable w/ no correlations. Web and VPN can both work or either or none.

You could block all "non-proxy" access through the router by creating an access list doing so. The only IP you would allow through would be the proxy server's requests and then, only it's source address and proxy ports if you want to be very specific. As I understand it, when you configure a proxy setting in a browser, any request the browser makes (http, https, ftp, etc.) will be directed to only the proxy address and the default gateway will never be used. The PC would only use the default gateway for any non-browser client applications (VPN client software, telnet, ping, smtp, pop3, etc.) Of course, if you blocked all "non-proxy" traffic as I suggested, none of these applications wil work unless you modify your access list to allow them.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. EMU 0202 USB ASIO more and more crackle until complete drop out after approx. 5 mins

The subject already pretty much wraps up my issue. I have an EMU USB 0202 which I am using in ASIO mode. Indepedently of the software that is used to playback something (e.g. Fruity Loops, Ableton Live, or Virtual DJ), I get crackles in the sound after approx 5 minutes (give or take a minute). If I leave things running like this, the sound quality degrades more and more for approx another minute, up to complete silence.
Interesting fact: This can be fixed, by simply having the software "close/release" the device. E.g. by switching to Direct Sound and back to ASIO. Pretty much everyting, that causes the software to reinitialize the ASIO driver, will fix this - for the next 5 minutes.
I have probably already tried whatever piece of advice I could find. I have checked my system settings, incl. the stuff that one of the moderators listed here in the board (http://forums.creative.com/t5/Profes...USB-and-0202-U...).
I have used the DPL Latency checker tool. I don't see any sparks here. The only thing I noticed is, that as sound degrades, the latency slowly rises. But we are talking of "peaks" of 500µs when the sound starts to degrade.
I also used this PCI Latency Checker tool, but everything is set to either 0 or 64 - from what I've read, PCI latency could only be a problem if I were to see values like e.g. 128 or even max of 255.
I don't see any load peaks on the system either - neither disk activity or anything. Though the DAWs and the VSTs can cause some pretty heavy system load, the system is pretty much idle when playing songs back with VirtualDJ. And still as said before, after a few minutes things go from good, to bad, to worse, to silence. Searching though the net, it seems like everybody else is having some kind of general USB audio problem, where they have instant/permant crackling. I have not yet found anybody else with such a gradual decrease. The only person so far which also reports a similar issue is this:

But seems like he also did only get the standard "try this" - text block answer. As I said, I already tried all these.
So, what else can I do? This is really frustrating....

EDIT: It's too obvious (too me at least) that I forgot to mention: This happens independently of the buffer settings. I can go with 6ms or 50ms... problem is still the same. Also the "timing" of the problem is not affected by this.

Places you need to look are are your IDE bus and PCI bus.
Verify that the chipset drivers are up to date.
Also verify that your USB host is not sharing with any devices like WIFI or SATA controllers.
Have you sent a support ticket to E-MU support? You may want to for an issue like this.

Fennec installs on Kindle HD, but when selected, opens and 3-5 seconds later drops out. Is there support coming?

Did something a little different and it worked. fennec 10.0 works without fail on kindle fire. I guess know that a level of support is established as a baseline, we should be able to walk it up from here. This is a Kindle Fire right out of the box. Two previous fennec 15.0 installs went fine, however fennec crashed after 3-5 seconds. I googled a couple more things and found where someone had gone to ftp site and pulled down 10.0. Definitely works. Clean install...open right up and has yet to crash. Have already browsed around a couple site and still going strong.

ATV2 music drops out after 2-3 songs, withou fail. Restarted/rebooted everything and my router shows no signal drops, suspect it is the home sharing but can't get into it to fix it. Am at my wits end.

Recently bought the ATV2, all working well until 2-3 songs played and it drops out and returns to the main menu. I have rebooted/restarted everything, and checked the event log in my router which shows no drop outs in WiFi connection. When I tested it with a movie, it worked, ran for the length of the movie, but when I put on music it did it again. The last line keeps repeting after it tries again attempt 101, will retry in 900 sec etc...
Additionally I've noticed that periodically my wifi will drop out, and when I go to Airport Utility my Extreme is unavailable. I don't know if this error and the two the wifi drop outs are linked or not. At first I thought it was the new firmware for the basestation, but now I'm not so sure because last time I launched airport utility and the extreme was unavailable I saw the basestation come back on line.
One final note. I have a home server on a mac mini (ML Server essentially for ituens shared liberary). All the macs access this server.

Apple TV and Drop Outs, Connection Issues

I use AppleTV to mirror my ipad 2. it's great. Love it Then I'll try it again and it may work but often the icon disappears. I then clear the password then re-enter it and that will bring it back or if that doesn't work I may have to shut down my ipad 2 at least once.
This happens almost every second or third time I try to use it.
I currently have an iphone 4s, ipad2, ipod touch and as someone has said before, this is the first time I've been deeply disappointed in an Apple product. I expect glitches every now and then but this continual drop out and connection issues I have is beyond the joke.
Does anyone have any solutions. Yes I have done all the updates, yes I am on the same network, yes airplay is turned on, yes home sharing is enabled.
As you can see I am peeved!

I too am having the same problem. I have a MB Pro running OS X 10.9.4 cannot see AirPlay option. Any solutions out there? Tried AirParrot but it is spotty at best.

Time Capsule wireless intermittent drop outs to PC and iPhone

I have a Time Capsule that we use in our home as a wireless router and back-up. It is connected to a Comcast cable modem only. It has worked well, but about a couple months ago we started to have issues. Our iMac sees the Time Capsule through the wireless fine and has no connectivity issues. However, my PC laptop, that used to connect wirelessly, now has issues keeping a connection and so does my iPhone. The two devices will see the network and connect, but the connection drops out after a minute or so, then reconnects, and the cycle continues. I am not sure what to do to fix this and it makes me even more confused since our iMac has no issues with the wireless connection. Has anyone experienced this issue? Thanks!

All that is Ok, and TIvo says I am hooked up correctly. THey say this is the problem, they can look at the box to see the error #.

Logic and the drop out

I wonder if this will ever be sorted out. It seems that people have been dealing with drop outs in Logic since forever. I used Cubase for about 6 years and the concept of a drop out where the playback stops and you have to click a window to acknowledge it doesn't exist. CPU loade doesn't matter. At high cpu load, you'll get pops and clicks and whatnot, but the audio playback doesn't just stop. Cakewalk Sonar is also notorious for this drop out thing. It's just kind of amazing that this isn't seen as enough of a problem that even After Apple took over, they haven't seen fit to fix it. Makes me wonder if the problem that causes it is just to deep to dig out without too much change to the application.

Nope, I'm running 7.1.1 and OS 10.4.3. I don't know if .4, .5, .6 or .7 offer any significant improvements when it comes to running Logic, and admittedly I haven't done any research to find out either... I went through months of trauma with my LP7/OSX system. Since then my system's been stable and I've been reluctant to make any significant changes to the OS or to crossgrade.
The one chance I'm willing to take at this point is if and when a bug-fix version of Logic 7.1.1 appears, or, if a version with an enhanced score editor ever comes to fruition. Until then, I'm pretty happy with my system so I'm gonna stay put for a while.

IMac G5 iSight and the new Magic Mouse - WiFi dropping out.

The G5 with iSight seems to be unique amongst Apple computers, in that it shares the WiFi with the Bluetooth on a single compound card. I have not tested this out completely but it certainly seems to be the case that the Magic Mouse when left, having finished a session on the iMac, will after a few hours 'power down'. When it does so, sharing the WiFi, it will disable the wireless communication. I can find no known settings to avoid this from happening.
If I had dropped my iMac into sleep mode and woken it with a click of the mouse, all would be fine, however with my G5 downloading a file in the background, to come back and find the wireless has 'dropped out' is disconcerting to say the least.
Usually the WiFi can be re-established by turning it off and on again, then re finding my router (a TC in the other room) and all is well again for another 'period of time', which I can only guesstimate to be a couple of hours. However occasionally I will have to 'Restart' the iMac to get back to a working system. This is something I only ever really have to do with my work PC; I have NEVER had to do this on the iMac before. This is a quaint but annoying Windows thing and should not occur on a Mac. (This last phrase is slightly tongue in cheek!).
The WiFi link to my work PC via the TC is never compromised, which pointed the finger to the new magic mouse. I run the last version of Leopard for the PPC processors, 10.5.8 and have loaded the magic mouse driver software.
Has anyone else seen this happen?

Be sure to follow it precisely. When you reconnect the power cord, if you are using a crowded or old power strip, connect it directly to a wall outlet for this test. Power it up with nothing connected except power cord and once it starts up, connect only your keyboard/mouse (no other USB/FireWire peripherals). Try using it that way to see if the problem still recurs.
The only other suggestion I have is, if you have a external FireWire drive that you can erase (or create a small partition on), install a fresh Leopard installation on it. Start up from it and see if this problem still recurs.
Alternately, back up your data, erase (re-partition and reformat) the interal drive, and reinstall Leopard on the internal drive, then give it a try. If you clone (using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper) to an external FireWire drive as your backup, you can still boot from your current installation (on the external drive). If the fresh installation test does NOT work, you can clone your clone back to the internal drive. If it does work with a fresh installation, you can keep using it and transfer just your user data back from the clone.

Audio Drop Out

No matter how many minutes of audio or photos (believe me I tried from 2 minutes to 25 minutes of audio and 10-150 photos) that I use in DVD 6, the audio drops out for 3 seconds, always about 1 minute before the finale. Is anyone having the same problem.
I tried magic slideshow, all combinations and still...audio drops out.
When I used the 99 photo limit with the fit to audio minutes, nothing like this happened.
If there is a fix, please let me know.

Bass Drops Out On iTunes CDs

I have been burning mp3 CDs with iTunes for playback in my car equipped with an mp3 disc player and subwoofer. I noticed the bass was very noticeably dropping-out on nearly all mp3 selections. I thought it was my subwoofer until a bought a new car and experienced the same bass drop-out through a different subwoofer. The bass eventually returns during playback, but when I rewind the track, the drop-out does not repeat at the same point in the song.
In my iTunes playback preferences I have both the Sound Enhancer and Sound Check options unchecked. My equalizer is set to "Rock". I'm using iTunes v7.6.2(9).

Airport Express/Multiple Speakers/Drop Outs

Question -- I have a wireless network at home -- a Linksys wireless router which I use to connect my Dell laptop and my powerbook to the internet. I have two airport express stations ... one for my living room stereo, and one for kitchen speakers. Streaming itunes to one set of speakers works fine, but when I stream to both sets of speakers I get constant hiccups and sound drops during the playback. Any thoughts/suggestions how to fix this problem?

I had this problem. It was because I had interference (ie poor reception to ONE of the airport express units). When the one would cut out they BOTH would cut out. It was really annoying. You can check if this is your problem by placing both of the airport express right near your router (ie in the same room) and see if you get the dropping out (you shouldn't).
My solution was finally only solved by buying a new router and setting up a WDS network. I got a linksys WRT54GL and use the DD-WRT firmware. There are lots of instructions on the net on how to set this up. Then each airport express acts as a repeater. They seem to support each other, and the result for me was that I got wireless coverage EVERYWHERE in my house, and the music stream stopped dropping out.
Also with the DD-WRT firmware you can change the xmit power of the router (and increase it!) to improve coverage.

Broadband Dropping: Several drop outs yesterday an...

I had a month of problems during December and January, so I have posted before.
Yesterday and today the connection had dropped out several times.
In the Wolston area of Warwickshire.
I did see a BT Broadband van outside our next door but one neighbours. He informed me he had just arrived and knew nothing of these problems, he was looking at a seperate issue. However, my next door but one nieghbour informed me he was aware of issues in the village. Any help welcome!

Macbook pro speakers intermittent drop-out

OK, my Macbook Pro 13.3" is less than 3 months old, and the speakers (subwoofer) just drops out occasionally, making it virtually impossible to hear sound. Is this a "known fault" in the hardware -- how to proceed and get this fixed? It's a new Mac...do I have get the shop to take a look, or is there a readier solution? Thanks for any advice.

I've had far too many problems with the newer revisions (>= 5.0) of the Linksys WRT54xx wireless routers, especially dropped connections. A shame, because they used to be extremely reliable. I replaced my WRT54G rev 6 with a D-Link DIR-625 and my connections are much more reliable and stable, both on my Windows and mac machines.
