1760 and VIC2 2FXS
What IOS will I need to configure analogue voice ports on a 1760 router? I've tried following the IOS selector but most of the releases it suggests are deferred.
According to the following link, the VIC-2FXS card is supported in all versions of IOS for the 1760 with a voice feature set.

Vic2 - 2FXS Card in 2801 and modem / fax usage
Hi,
I have a Cisco 2801 running c2801-advipservicesk9-mz.124-9.T.bin
It has 2 VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE cards, 1 VIC2-2FXS. And a PVDM2-8 and a PVDM2-16 as DSP's.
I am trying to get a modem working on a FXS port, but one way or the other it's just not comming together.
I do have a propper PSTN line when I use an analogue phone, but when I try to hook up a modem nothing or sometimes a crappy 2k4 connection.
What am I missing here, I thought by putting in enough DSP's in the router and a FXS card and BRI cards this should work.
Nothing fancy configured on the voice ports (first 4 are BRI last 2 FXS)

Can anyone tell me what to do to get a modem working propperly on this FXS ports ?You may want to try adding this command:

Testing VIC2-2FX S and VIC2-2FXO cards
I want to setup two 2611XM routers with a
NM-HD-2VE ( 3 DSP), VIC2-2FXS, VIC2-2FXO cards.
Can I connect the FXS to the FXO ?
Do I need to have telephones with RJ11 Straight through cables connected to the ports of the VIC's.
Could you point me to somewhere where this scenario is addressed. ( Voice certification test lab diagrams...)
Thank you,

hi,
We have deployed cisco 2811 router in our network and had installed vic2-2fxs card in one of the HWIC slot.We need to configure fxs card for voip to make a call to branch office and have the following ios c2800nm-ipvoicek9-mz.124-17.bin .The problem we are facing is the router detect vic card under show version command but when show running-config command been given it doesn't display voice-port information to configure the same.We have attached the show tech-support o/p.any suggestion welcomed.Hi Bhavesh,
It Looks like you do not have any DSP resources. You will need something like a PVDM2-8 card on the motherboard to provide DSP resources to the FXS card. Without DSP resources you cannot configure the FXS :)
Hope this helps!

VIC2-2FXS at Cisco 2811 ISR, is NM-HDV2 needed?
Hello,
I have a Cisco 2811 router that is configured as CUCME and working OK. So I need to connect a fax machine so I decided to take FXS card, but I don't know if I need to find NM-HDV2 to get VIC2-2FXS working on 2811, or it works at any of HWIC slots... I have FXO (VIC2-4FXO) working w/o any network module (installed at HWIC slot), so do I need such for FXS?
P.S.: I have PVDM2-8 installed in the router, will it be enough?
Thank you.The NM is not needed.
The PVDM that you have is enough. -

Any help?

Hello NetProf!
I'm repeating my request for help, mabey clearing a few things out.
1. We have a cisco 1760 router running CCME
2. Some connected to it cisco 79xx ip-phones
3. A third party gatekeeper - MikroTik router
4. Every device is logged in the gatekeeper, and every call i settled with the use of it.
5. We have a third party VoIP gateway - MultiTechs MultiVoIP - also registered in the gatekeeper.
6. Now the connections history:
a) when phoning from the gateway to cisco - everything works fine.
b) when phoning fromn cisco to the gateway - the connection failes - it looks like CISCO ISN'T FORWARDING ANY INDENTITY DATA - NO IP ADDRESS, AND H323-ID - GETS TO THE GATEWAY!!!!!
Please help!!

Cisco 1760 and E1 to VoIP Gateway
Hello!
Recently we've developed a test VoIP network combined out of a verry differently branched devices. It's working quite well, excluding one part.
The problem occures when trying to call from a CCME Cisco IP phone registered in a gatekeeper to a MultiTechs Multivoip E1/VoIP gateway (which is connected to our PBX). In MvOIPs logs - I can focus Cisco Phone trying to connect using the correct codec, matching gateway prefix - BUT LEAVING NO IP ADDRESS OR H.323 ID. Mabey some ideas???
Network is H.323 based.
Thanks in advance.
MichaelHi Micheal,
Can your PBX see the digits being passed to it?
Thanks,
Erik -
In my environment there is a PBX connecto VIC2-2FXO at router CISCO1751-V. I have an old PBX and when I change the card to VIC-2FXO(EOL), I have from from PBX e works fine. But if I return the new card VIC2-2FXO it doesn't work, even tone is missing. What a real difference between VIC-2FXO and VIC2-2FXO
Hi Almir,
The card is comatible with 1751-4V. The VIC2 cards are the new generation cards. Working wise they are no different. I checked the configs nd they looked kinda incomplete. Usually the FXO works with a "connection plar/trunk". Neither did I notice any voip dial-peers.
Sample config for call flow : (phone---pbx---vic2-fxo---router1--ip---router2---fxs--phone)
voice-port 2/0
cptone BR
connection plar 3000
dial-peer voice 100 voip
destination-pattern 3000
session target ipv4:p.q.r.s
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern .T
port 2/0
The above config should be fine for inbound and outbound calls. If this doesn't work please send me the following-
1. Exact call flow eg
2. deb voice ccapi inout
3. debug vpm signal
4. debug vtsp events
5. debug vtsp session

ATA vs VG202 vs VIC3-2FXS-E/DID & Wireless
What is best solution moving forward?
Fax server probably two years out.
Background:
I have 34 locations
30 locations have 2 analog devices
4 Operations have 26, 14, 15, 10 analog devices
Currently we use ATA 188 and 186 and one VIC2-2FXS
We Have intermittent problems receiving faxes from Fax servers or other customers in general. The VG20x are nice because you can use them as a full blown router (VPN, IGP, etc).
I think you'll have more cost per port using a VIC3 rather than VG204. Their capabilities will be equal, as opposed to when the ATAs were in use.
The ATAs are on their way out, and I think you'll find the VG20x to be an easier product to use and it will work better with faxes/modems. The ATAs don't have great fax/modem support where the VG20x will have T38 support and modem support.
For the locations with 15+ devices it may be worth looking into the VG224 as well, depending on usage.

MGCP and H.323 in same router
We have few 3825 and 3845 routers with VWIC-1MFT-T1, VIC2-2FXS and VIC2-2FXO cards. CCM is 4.1(3)SR1
Checked MGCP & H.323 can support analog FXO interfaces loop-start/ground-start signaling, analog FXS interfaces loop-start/ground-start signaling and T1/E1 ISDN PRI Q.931 interfaces.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5855/products_data_sheet09186a0080182d38.html
Anyone has experience in below configurations? For example,
1. Config only MGCP to support all three above voice modules (T1, FXS, FXO) in a router (would like to confirm)
2. Or config only H.323 to support all modules in a router (should be okay, no issue)
3. Or config MGCP for T1 and H.323 for FXS & FXO in a router (would like to confirm)
4. Or config MGCP for T1 in one router and config H.323 for FXS & FXO in another router (should be okay, no issue)
Thank you in advance. All options are valid. You can have MGCP and H.323 to control seperate ports on the same router. If you go with option 3 (my guess is this is what you want) make sure to point the dial-peers to the appropriate ports.

VIC2-2FXO picks up then hangs up
Hi, I am having issues. All my VIC2-2FXO and VIC2-4FXO are picking up, then hanging up right away. I tried them on 1760s and 2811s. I tried a combination of supervisory disconnect, but can't get it to work. On 1760s, if I put a VIC-2FXO in the place of the VIC2-2FXO it works just fine. Is there a special command needed for VIC2s???
