18 Month Contract near end

It does not look like BT has a retention number like Talktalk were you can haggle and get your Telephone & Broadband cost's lowered when coming out of contract.
as you all know the Goverment want's us to change are provider to save money on electric and gas and broadband supplier.
Has anyone any idea's or contact numbers so I could haggle BT and cut monthly cost's and remain a BT customer ?
Cheers

  • Unlocking iPhone 5 at the end of my 24 Month Contract?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I've been a little thrown by the information provided by my network (eMobile Ireland)
My 24 month contract on my iPhone 5 comes to an end in the next couple of weeks, I contacted my network yesterday to ask about unlocking it so a family member can have the handset & changing my tariff etc.
They advised me I am now eligible for the device to be unlock from the network, took my IMEI and processed the request,
The email I've received this morning has confused me a little.... (I'll highlight my query)
"We have received your iPhone unlocking request and your phone will be remotely unlocked within the next 10 working days. In order to fully unlock the phone you will need to follow the below steps after 10 working days:
    1. Place the SIM card of the new operator you wish to move to into the iPhone.
    2. The iPhone will then 'Brick' (a security feature) and will require a connection to iTunes to perform a 'Customer Restore'.
    3. iTunes will detect the IMEI of the device and search for updates (this normal and is performed every time the iPhone is connected to iTunes).
    4. iTunes will detected the new SIM and that the 'Unlock Key' is available. It will then deploy the Unlock Key to the device.
    5. From here, the iPhone (still connected to iTunes) will perform the standard un-brick process which includes:
    i. Check for latest Software update
ii. Perform a customer restore (SYNC)
During this process, your iPhone will detect the SIM of a new network operator and iTunes will deploy the necessary 'Carrier Bundle' to the phone. This contains the correct settings for the new network operator, which also includes the operators' 'Network Lock'.
This means that your iPhone will then become locked to the new network.
Once the syncing is complete your phone is now ready for use with another network operator.
If you need to unlock your iPhone again you will need to contact the network operator the phone is now locked to. You can find this information by going to settings > General > About and beside 'Carrier' the network operator will be displayed.
I hope you find this information useful.
    Kind Regards,
    The  eMobile Team"
Whenever I've had a handset unlocked in the past, it didn't relock when I used a new sim from a different network, is this really what happens or just some misinformation?
If so is this the case if I use an existing sim card such as the one from work phone or a Pay As You Go sim card?
Any further info or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bobby H.

I recently unlocked my iPhone 5s & it didn't quite follow the instructions provided by the network, all I had to do is insert the SIM from a different operator & connect to iTunes & all was fine; no congratulations message saying the phone was now unlocked nor any saying the SIM was invalid, it didn't lock to the new network.
To be sure I checked on Apple's site & it worked as they said rather than how my provider said.

hi i used to have O2 pay monthly contract but it ended in September 2012, since the contract expired I keep requesting O2 to unlock my iphone4. But they keep saying we are unable to unlock because of error. This is going on for 2 years. O2 keep saying they retrying and nothing happening. I am frustrated. How to unlock my phone? Can Apple help me?

No Apple cannot and this is a User to User forum ,no Apple staff here
As the carrier that locked the iPhone ,O2 are the only organisation that can unlock the iPhone
That said they are the most co-operative of all UK carriers with unlocking
Have you actually asked what the issue is and filled in their request form
and are you still located in UK ,if not that will be the issue

  • What happens at the end of a UK 18 month contract?

    Hi,
I haven't called into an O2 store for a while so I thought i'd see if anyone knew the answer offhand...
What happens when my 18 month contract runs out in May 09'? I assumed that I could pick up one of the PAYG iPhone sims (or use my existing sim) and it would be as straightforward as that. However I read somewhere that the US versions become deactivated at the end of a contract and you will only be able to use them as an iPod Touch...
    Anyone clear this up?

Good stuff, I don't know where I read that about deactivating iPhones... maybe the tutorial on the Apple website telling you how to set your iPhone up as an iPod Touch after you contract finished kinda suggested that it became deactivated.

  • Sorry this is not tech related...Regarding the o2 18 month contract.

Just to say right off the bat that I have NO wish to unlock the i-phone.
However, from what I understand (please correct me if I am wrong).
The only way to use the i phone when it is released in the UK is via o2's 18 month contract.
So once the 18 months is up on the contract and I choose to cancel the contract, how will I still be able to make calls, because the i phone is locked only to the o2 contract tariff when you first set up the i phone.
Legally,I thought that in the UK, once a contract is passed it's minimum term you could contact the network provider for them to unlock the phone to any network (sometimes for a fee).
What I'm really trying to say is that once my 18 month contract with o2 UK is up, will they have a legal obligation to unlock my i phone to other networks.
Sorry this is not a 'tech' question only,
I'm really tempted to get an i phone on the 9th but I just need investigate as much as possible before I take the plunge...

I think you are partly right, but partly wrong.
I believe that you have the right to buy yourself out of your contract term with your network. To be a little more precise, I think you have the right to take your number with you whenever you want. You may still have to pay O2 for the remaining term of the contract, subject to what your contract terms say. The contract terms usually have the kind of 'get out' that you describe, but this of course depends entirely on the contract terms you have agreed to.
Where I think you have it wrong is what happens to your hardware - the phone. I'm not aware of anything that requires a network to facilitate the unlocking of your phone. Think of it this way. If you buy a decoder box for NTL cable tv, you can't complain to the manufacturer or NTL if you later decide to use that decoder box for Virgin tv only to find it doesn't work. (perhaps not the best example, but I hope you see what I mean).
I agree this is a concern. I may be happy to go with O2 for now, and for 18 months. But I'm not so happy at the prospect of having to bin my iPhone if I want to move to Orange at the end of my 18 month contract. I'm relying (hoping) that consumer pressure, and the changing market, will have sorted this by the end of my 18 month contract. In 18 months time, if Apple and O2 require customers to either stick with O2 or bin their iPhone it will be a real reputation killer.

  • 12 month contracts?

All the Infinity offers advertised online are fixed 18 month contracts. That simply doesn't work in conjunction with fixed 12 month line rental saver as the overlap effectively means a 3-year lock-in. That's simply not acceptable.
Can one achieve a 12 month Infinity contract by talking to a person?
    TIA

It may be that by the end of 12 months ofcom have a rule that prevents a bundling requirement of telephone and broadband.  They could have been more awkward and had 17 month broadband contracts; then it would have taken 17 years before the contracts coincided again.

  • Clarification on BT Broadband 12/18 month contract

Asked our company Lawyer who told me once you have completed your one year contract you have fullfield your obligation TO WHOEVER and they don't have the legal right to impose another contract without contacting you first.
Broached this subject with High level complaint on 0800671502 3 weeks ago. I was told when my contract with BT Broadband ends, I will be on a one month rolling contract.
Some people  have had contracts renewed without their knowledge.
Can someone tell me otherwise!! or are BT lying to me?

You can look at it this way. After your contract ends BT could do one of 2 things,
    1) stop your service as you have no contract with them.
    2) put you on a new 12 month contract.
They don't do either but take it a month at a time until you the customer decide on what you want to do
YOu have to be under a contract even if it is a rolling one to recieve service as it protects youu and the provider as you are bound to there terms of service.

  • My contract just ended and my bill went up. Why?

My contract just ended yesterday. I was looking at my Verizon account and noticed my Nationwide talk and text 700 plan went from $80 a month to $99.99. when did Verizon change the price? I was under the assumption that once my contract ended I would be locked in the price forever unless I signed a new contract. I've been paying $80 a month for at least 6 years. I didn't sign a new contract this time because If I do I will lose unlimited data. Is this Verizon's way of getting us unlimited data people to sign into the new shared plans?

Let's get a clear explanation on your monthly bill RheaW! Please follow me (I am already following you), and send me a direct message so that I can review your bill in detail and determine all charges on it. Be assured that adjustments will be made if any billing errors are found.

I bought in a galaxy note 3 in January.  I signed up for a month to month contract.  I was offered a free iphone5c with a 2yr contract.  My daughter in law needed a new phone so I took the offer.  Unfortunately she broke the phone and gave it back to me.  In the meantime I decided to upgrade my phone since I signed up for a 2yr contract I figured I might as well get a new phone.  I got the lgg3 for free with a2yr contract and with that I was offered the LG tablet for free for 10$month with a 2 yr contract also.  I am not happy with Verizon at all.  The fees,  service and even my lgg3 device.  I wanted to know what would be the cheapest was to end this contract.  I should have thought about the agreement before I signed I know.  I just want out.  Thank you for any help

    Early termination fees:
    G3 $350
    tablet $175
    iphone 5c. $350
so $875 to get out.  You keep all the devices.

    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
    2. If that doesn't solve the issue, backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • In iWork numbers 2.1 i have created monthly tables that end in sums of my daily numbers

In iWork numbers 2.1 i have created monthly tables that end in sums of my daily numbers & i want to combine the sums for all months into a new table to allow me to get yearly sums.  When i try to copy monthly sums i get 'formula contains invalid reference.' How do i perform this function?

    DC,
If you want to use Copy/Paste, you should use the Edit > Paste Values version. Or, you could simply add references in the Yearly table to the monthy tables.

  • How can I change my Pay As You Go number to my new Pay Monthly contract, please?

Hello, Just yesterday I activated my new EE Pay Monthly contract/plan. I got a new number with it.I would like to keep my old number, which I got with my EE Pay As You Go plan. How can I change the number, please? Thanks and kind regards,Andy

    You have three options available.
Speak to the upgrades and retentions department.
    Go into a EE store.
Go through a third party, like Carphone Warehouse for example.
If you know which PAYM SIM you would like, going into store would be the easiest option. You will be given a new PAYM SIM and your number will be moved from PAYG to PAYM within 24 hours. However, the only downside to this is; you can not cancel if you change your mind.
However, you can cancel within 14 days if you change your mind and you have upgraded over the phone. You will have to wait for the SIM to be delivered through the post.

  • I was using O2 Pay as you go. Now I'm using a monthly contract but I want to use my old number.

I was using O2 Pay as you go. Now I'm using a monthly contract but I want to use my old number.  How can I get to that position?

The situation is as follows:  I was using an O2 Pay as You Go but suddenly noticed that it was costing me 14 pence a text which as I am very hard of hearing I prefer to use rather than the telephone.  I then saw an advertisement for a BT package offering unlimited texts plus other things for £5.00 a month so I gave that a go.  I then discovered that for 90% of the time I was unable to get a signal from my living room where I do most of my texting so I dumped BT and took an O2 package with unlimited texts for £8.50 a month.  Having said that I don't understand why I need to be careful about MMS charges if I send what in my lack of knowledge I would refer to as a multi address message.  As you can see I'm new to this mobile telephone thing and I really appreciate the help I'm getting from this Forum.

  • Why is the 1st bill on £14.99 per month contract £15.14.(£12.62 + vat)

My wife an myself have recently taken out £14.99 per month contracts. We have both received our first bill for £15.14 (£12.62 + vat).I have downloaded both bills which state EE Regular - 500MB £14.99 with no explanation as to where the extra charges are from.Could someone enlighten me as to what the extra charges are for or are EE trying it on.

When did you sign up to this contract? That's when your service contract starts and also when the min. term starts from.
When was your 1st bill issued? There's usually a few days delay after the contract starts before the billing is set up. Those few days are what you are paying in your 1st bill on top of the month in advance. It is quite usual.

  • Rolling Months - Month By Month based on month of variable ending date

    Post Author: jeffr
    CA Forum: Formula
    Hi,
We want to do a rolling 3 month report, based on the ending month where the ending date is entered as a run time parameter, for example run-time parameter - {?Ending Date} entered is 15 June 2007
First month - should have all of June 2007
Previous month shoud have all of May 2007
Earlier month should have all of April 2007
We tried Month() = Month({?Ending Date}) for current month and
    Month () = Month (DateAdd("m",-1,({?Ending Date}))), and
    Month () = Month (DateAdd("m",-2,({?Ending Date})))
    but they didnt work successfully
Could someone please let us know the best way to do it with Crystal X?
    Thanks

    CA Forum: Formula
You need to get six dates set up as formulas
    BOM3 = date(year({?parameter}),month(),1)   First day of Month3 = June 1
EOM3 - do a dateadd of one month to your parameter, then follow above example to make it the first day of next month and subtract one day
    BOM2 first day of EOM2
    EOM2=- BOM3-1
    BOM1  first day of EOM1
    EOM! = BOM2 -1
