how can I fix "1801 microcode update error" I have a hp compaq dc7600 sff. I upgraded my processor to "Pentium 4HT 3Ghz,to new pentium D820 2,8Ghz .My system windows 7- 32bit.
BIOS Version 786D1 v01.03
Number serial DMI (system): numer seryjny[Personal Information Removed]
I'll also be on the list of supported processors on the motherboard

That error usually indicates the BIOS needs updated. I found this but be advised that flashing the BIOS sometimes brings unexpected results.

You need to install the microcode update by using a bootable flash drive with the common MS DOS Command files and the contents of the microcode flash file included on the bootable flash drive.
Then you type Flashbin.exe at the command prompt you get when you boot from the flash drive, and hit the enter key.
Follow the on screen instructions to update the microcode.
I have attached the tool to make a usb flash drive bootable and the MS DOS system files to copy onto the flash drive.
See the 3 files below under Attachments.
Unzip and copy the DOS files without any folders to the flash drive after you run the HP tool to make it bootable.
I have also zipped up and attached the microcode update files.
Unzip them and put them on the flash drive too without any folders after you make the drive bootable.

Hi:
You will need to update the BIOS to its latest version to get rid of the microcode error, and the processor will only run at half the FSB speed because the BIOS update was not written to make the E7xxx processors work correctly.
You will need to run this software each time you get into windows and change the multiplier to the max.
Or you can run that batch file listed on the below webpage for it to run automatically.

If I were you, I would just install a Conroe E6700 and have a problem-free upgrade.
You will need to use the DOS based flash because I don't think there is a BIOS update written for W7.

I assume that the P in the your post is for Processor. The "1801Mocrocode update error" is telling you to update the CPU. There is more then one way to do this. You can do this by downloading and running the HP Support Assistant. click here, to aid in updating drivers and resolving issues. You can update from Device Manager. Open Device Manager, right click on the processor and you should see an option to update. You could also check the manufacturer's site for any updates. The E7500 processor is not supported in the dc7800, which is why you are getting the microcode error.
Below is the list of supported processors.

As a long shot, you can try installing the latest microcode update. You need to use a bootable USB flash drive with dos files so you can run the flashbin.exe command after you copy the microcode update files to your bootable flash drive.
I can't get to the dc7800 support site. When you can, select the microcode update download from 2010 v1.14

Xw6200 1801 microcode update error

Hi I have recently upgraded my xw6200 workstation cpu from 2 x intel xeon 2.8 ghz to 2 x inel xeon 3.6 ghz. the problem is when i but up my pc i get a error "1801 microcode update error" and give me the option to boot by pressing f1 and the it boots up no problem apart from the fans are a lot noisier. is there a way to solve this error every time i boot up. its not a massive problem as windows runs fine after i press F1 but any help would be appreciated thanks.

Unfortunately, the latest version of the installed BIOS version is as good as it gets.
The BIOS family 786B7, which your BIOS is a member of, was last updated in 2006.
Unless a microcode update can be found through Windows update or at Intel for the installed operating system, this may be an issue that I am unable to help you resolve.
Normally a BIOS update is the answer, but no more exist.

Processor microcode error message

i replaced a P4 2.4ghz with a P4 3.0 and i'm getting the processor microcode error message at startup.
i have tried many updates to correct the problem. anyone got any suggestions?

Did you install the microcode update?

You need a floppy drive and floppy disk to do that. No other method can be used to install the microcode update.
If you did, and you still are getting the microcode update, my assumption is you installed a P4 3.0/800/1M Prescott processor, and those are not supported in your PC.
You are better off installing a P4/3.2/800/512KB Northwood processor sSpec SL6WG.
You won't get a microcode error with that if you have the latest microcode installed, and your PC will run cooler as well.

Hi,
I have compaq presario v6608AU laptop with vista OS installed
I got a small red cross mark near the sound icon in the taskbar.
I read the forum and tried all possible ways to get back the sound but nothing worked.
when i switched on the bluetooth, it shows audio connected to bluetooth but no audio in laptop
In device manager i was not able to find any drivers for laptop audio but wireless audio is installed.
I tried downloading audio driver for my notebook but it doesnt get installed, saying no audio device found code 10 error
It would be a great help if some one would help me.

Display driver recovery error for Compaq notebook

I have a compaq notebook - CQ60)-211DX , P/N NBO49UA originally with Windows Vista. I've sinced upgraded to Windows 7, 32 bit. I'm needing to find the right Display driver to upload. I'm getting display recovery errors. I've tried windows fix it and I also tried to extend the registry timer but didn't know which registry to open and save.

I think this is a monitor file. Post the output to the command "dir disk0".

This error message is saying that the router cannot see the PCMCIA card or the PCMCIA card currently installed cannot be detected by the line card.
You can't load the monitor library file because the boot variable string is incorrect. Look at the highlighted (in RED) above. The boot variable string found in the configuration has a space, the symbol "%", between the location (or "disk0:") and the filename.

I changed the LCD screen for Compaq 610 laptop but it now displays "invalid serial number" & cant see HDD & CDROm. When I go into bios, only the tag and not serial input is showing. I put back the old screen but its behaving the same. What should I do?

Did you install a different processor than the one that came with the PC?
If so, what processor did you install?
A microcode error means there is an unsupported processor installed or you need to install a microcode update to allow for support of the processor you installed if it can be supported in your dc5800.

Can't boot after update, getting "microcode: failed to load" error

After restarting my computer, it's no longer able to boot, and just prints a continuous stream of errors. The first error it gives is "microcode: failed to load", and I looked it up and found that I should just have to install amd-ucode. Easy enough, except I can't boot. I tried booting into the latest live-usb image, and after connecting to the internet, mounting the partition to /mnt, and running
# arch-chroot /mnt pacman -S amd-ucode
I get the following error
error: amd-ucode: signature from "Allan McRae <[email protected]>" is invalid
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I'm not very familiar with how chrooting works, especially not arch-chroot, so I don't trust myself to fix the problem without breaking something. I was thinking of just putting the package on a flashdrive and installing it with
# arch-chroot /mnt pacman -U amd-ucode-package-name
Should I do it this way or am I misunderstanding how arch-chroot works?
By the way, this is an issue with my desktop. startx stopped working on my laptop right before I went to use my desktop and rebooted it, so after this issue is fixed I'll be making another thread about my laptop >_> Any help is much appreciated.

Ok, so I managed to install amd-ucode with pacstrap. That got rid of the microcode error, but I'm still getting
/dev/sdc1 contains a filesystem with errors. Forcing check
And then it just repeats the error message

The numbers on the left just keep counting up, but the repeating error message stays mostly the same. What's odd about this error is that the disc it says it has a problem with isn't even the disc with the OS on it. When I have time I'm going to try physically removing /dev/sdc from my computer to see if the error stops.
Oh and there won't be any thread about my laptop issues. Turns out I filled my whole HDD, which was causing startx to fail.
