1815dn Scanner lock switch is STUCK

I work as an internal support student for my coop placement. We have a dell 1815 all-in-one printer, and all be it old, it still works for exactly what the office needs
Somehow in the morning, one of the employees accidentally locked the scanner. Its obvious that the lock switch is on the roof of the output tray. We even see the switch status indicator on the inside of the glass. But for some reason, it is STUCK. We have tried pulling it, pushing it, but we cannot for the life of us figure out why it wont budge. There seems to be a small locking feature beside the indicator on the inside of the glass, but we cannot get in to move the switch manually.
We have tried gently and forcefully to move the lock switch, but it will NOT budge no matter how hard we push/pull
Has anyone solved this issue before? Or rather, does anyone know how to get inside the glass of the scanner? We understand that this printer is old, and no longer covered by any sort of warranty.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We had a representative from HP look at our printer when they were in servicing our other hardware. You failed to make it known that all switches have a small latch on the interior. All you have to do is use a small screwdriver and pull it down before attempting to pull it back into place...thats it.
Im sure glad i didnt follow your "advice" in disassembling our entire printer for something so simple. Thanks for the delayed support, we will be continuing our business relationship with other companies that have the ability to support both their own products better then "here is a service manual, good luck"

  • The locked button, is stuck ( broken) in down position

IiPod Nano top lock button is stuck, so can't switch it on or off or change the music, it about 18 mths old. Is there anything I can do.?

If you purchased Apple Care, call them and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • My iPod is dead, and it will not charge. Also, my lock button is stuck. What should I do to fix it?

Earlier today, my iPod touch lock button got stuck. That wasn't a problem. Now, it wont charge. I just tired to reset it, and it went off. But now, I can't even turn it back on. What should I do??!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipad Update loses horizontal / Vertical lock switch. Now it's a mute switch

OK, this is a big one.
The little switch on the side of the iPad, that normally allows users to lock orientation, now functions as a mute switch.
This is a terrible flaw, and should be corrected.

Add me to the list of people who are dismayed and confused by this change. I listen to music perhaps 2% of the time on my iPad. Maybe 85% of my time on it is spent reading text, usually while sitting or lying down. I change positions frequently. I use the lock switch *all the time*, and use it with the hand holding the iPad, to boot. Now I can no longer do this; I have to go through a complex iteration on screen, requiring much more of a break in my attention flow (I have to actually stop reading the book I'm reading, go to another interface, perform a multi-step task, come back).
My question is this - why on earth wouldn't you at least give us the option of setting the behavior back the way we're familiar with in software somewhere, even if you defaulted to the new behavior to make sure we're aware of the possibilities? Please. Please please please. Give me my hardware screenlock back. It's making reading in bed really annoying.

i have problem with my iphone 5 lock switch..as lock switch not working properly..and my iphone is not in warrenty.. so plz tell me what i do...

The iPhone 5 is less than a year old, so all of them should still be in warranty unless they have been jailbroken or physically damaged. If you have a hardware problem as you describe the only option is to get the phone replaced by Apple or repaired by a non-authorized shop. The Apple replacement will be free at any Apple store in the country where the phone was purchased. If Apple determines that the phone was physically damaged or jailbroken it will cost $229.

  • Broken lock switch on new iPad air

Has anyone else experienced problems with the lock switch that controls the landscape and portrait orientation on the iPad air?  Bought 128 gig. New iPad air and the switch broke after a few days.  To make it worse I took it to the Genius Bar and they verified it was broken and have been waiting two days for a replacement.  My husband bought one too and his has been fine.  Based on the price, I'm a little frustrated with the quality issue but maybe it is an isolated case.

I don't see many complaints here or online so probably isolated. Besides, it sounds like the issue is already resolved since they are giving you a new iPad.

  • My iPod lock button is stuck down. How do I get it out?

Okay, so I went to turn my iPod on and found my lock button was stuck down into the housing of the iPod, I cannot get it out and cannot turn my iPod on. Should I just buy a new iPod or is there a way of repairing it?

Contact (Google) a third-party iPod repair service and get it serviced.

  • The lock switch is not working anymore

The lock switch on my nano doesn't work anymore, it's really annoying since I can't walk around with it in my pocket without the sound getting turned up or the song switched every time i move. Also, since the lock isn't working I can't turn it off properly. Is it a mechanical problem?
    Thanks

Are you able to go to an Apple Store? I had an older generation model nano, which the lock switch wasn't working and since it was still under applecare warranty, they replaced the old nano for me. But that is in the USA, so I am not sure how it works in the UK.

  • N8 lock switch?

When watching reviews of the n8, I seemed to be under the impression that the lock switch was a 2-state on/off type switch, but when I got mine, turns out it's a spring-loaded slider button. Was this a recent design change, or has it always been that way? I tend to think a 2-state switch would have been more useful.

As an N97 user I've found I will occasionally turn on my camera by accident, especially when calibrating the compass on maps, however I've NEVER 'accidently' unlocked the phone, so I think the lock slider is probably a better idea, and all the reports I've read seem to say the one on the N8 i much better constructed then the ones on previous models !

I have a I pad MD522LL/A version 7.0 and cannot get off of mute I have tried items in settings and moving back lock switch as well as volume any help

    Hey there,
It sounds like you are unable to get any sound from your built in speaker on your device, even after toggling the side switch. I recommend the troubleshooting from the following article named:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.
The article title mentions the iPhone, but the steps are relevant for the iPad as well.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My lock button is stuck and when I push it it won't lock. Should I bring it to the apple store?

Yeah so my lock button is stuck inside the iPod and I can't get it out. It doesn't lock my iPod but if I try to push it nothing happens. Should I bring it to the apple store by my house??

You can't backup the iPod then.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and restore via iTunes:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If data is not in the backup then:
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Mute switch is a landscape/portrait lock switch

I got my Iphone 5 back in April of 2013, and only recently realized that the switch above the volume control buttons is not supposed to be a landscape/portrait lock switch, rather, its supposed to be the mute switch.  I took it to the Verizon store and told them about it, and they let me exchange it for a new one.  I got the new one home, updated it to IO7, and then restored it with my backup, and the switch is STILL a landscape/portrait switch...I'm guessing that its something in my backup info, but I'm not sure why.
The switch on the Ipad is was landscape/portrait lock, but I've never had an Ipad, I did have an Ipod 5 before the Iphone 5, but thats it.  Dont understand why my backup would tell the Iphone to treat the switch as a landscape/portrait lock, not a mute.  Makes me wonder what else it could be doing that its not supposed to.
Anyone else ever heard of this happening?
    Thanks.

The mute switch has nothing to do with being able to hear someone when on a call, it simply mutes sounds like the ringer and notification.

  • Lock Switch on Top of iPod Nano

I've had this nano for 5 months and just yesterday the lock switch on the top has broken. When I move it from the locked position to the unlocked position the lock icon is still on the screen and I can't pause or adjust the volume or anything. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Reset and then restore it in case it's a software issue.
If the problem still occurrs, then it's a hardware issue. Take it to the nearest apple store or fill out a service request

  • I have a company phone which i have locked and is stuck on the activation screen

I have a company phone which i have locked and is stuck on the activation screen

If you were given an ID and password by your IT department, it's their problem. If you created one yourself, you can retrieve it at https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid.
There's nothing anyone else can do about it.
If your IT department handed it to you without clearing the iCloud account that was already set up on the phone before doing so, and you didn't even try to turn it on, just plugged it in and restored it, which updated it to iOS 7, then it's activation locked using the account that was already on it. If it's company owned, they will have to take the phone and proof of ownership to Apple to have it reset.
