18gb on iphone only 1.3 gb in cloud. is that reasonable or am i doing something wrong?
is it reasonable to have 18gb on iphone and only 1.3 gb in icloud? I know music and apps are free but still seems low. I only have 7 gb of music.
You get 5GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
App data
Home screen and app organization
Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
Ringtones
So, videos (except for those in camera roll) are not included. Neither is music or apps, since there's a record at the store of what you have downloaded. If you want music stored in icloud, subscribe to iTunes Match.

I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive* -
I am new to Lightroom 5 and find I cannot crop my photos as easily as I did in iPhoto. I would like to be able to drag them if I choose a custom size or crop them from the bottom as well as from the top but my two sided arrow disappears when I work at the bottom of the photo. Am I doing something wrong?
I would suggest you trash the prefs.
Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
Then re-launch Lightroom
It’s then worth clearing each cache. Go to the top menu bar:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> File Handling (tab)
Click the Purge Cache button under Camera Raw Cache Settings; then click the Purge Cache button under Video Cache Settings. Finally click OK. -
When I create a photo stream in ios6, everyone who is logged in to my iCloud account can see and edit my stream (on their iPhones only). Not just the email addressees that I sent the photo stream link to. Is that how photo stream security is meant to work? Is so it means my whole family can see any photo stream I set up. Hence no security? Can't share the pics with the wife then :(
The whole idea to an icloud account is that one user uses it and has all their devices synced together. Different users need different Apple IDs to create their own icloud accounts. Note that everyone can still use the same ID for an iTunes account (to share purchases).

My iphone only sync's SOME of my ical events from my macbook. I only have 1 calendar. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not using the cloud.
With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not. -
My iphone 4s wont sync when I connect it to the pc( not apple). It is connected as it comes up on itunes but when I try to sync it with apps/ music etc it wont. I am doing something wrong or is it a mistake with the phone. I am still able to download apps and music from itunes on my phone though.
I already restored it but that didn't help.
TIA for any replies.iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

I have a Windows 8.1 and it's even running slow. I'm a complete novice with computers (I've only had this one for 3 weeks) and I'm probably doing something wrong, but I haven't a clue what.
The tools are not responding when I try to use them. Some of them work sometimes, but not others and some don't work at all. I'm in a design class online and I need these tools desperately. I have an assignment due Monday and I'm losing the whole weekend because Tech Support is only open M-F!
Any help anyone can give me will be appreciated.

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat in order to convert a pdf to an excel program but it appears that it will only convert to Word, not excel? Am I doing something wrong or should I cancel my subscription?

I have imported several hundred photos from my iPhoen 5C into iPhoto library. I selected yes to delete them from my iPhone but the photos remain on the phone. Am i doing something wrong. I don't want to pay apple a fee to get this answered via their support system. This should be straight forward, shouldn't it? Thanks.
Are you asking about iCloud Photo Library (Beta) as described in: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support ?
In that case you will still see all photos on your iPhone, even after uploading the Photos to the iCloud Photo Library. The photos on your iPhone may be light-weight optimized previews, if you have the setting
Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library > Optimize [device] Storage enabled.
But as long as you have enough free storage, will the your iPhone keep the full resolution versions of the photos you access most frequently. -
In OS X Mavericks using Safari, the search bar at the top that i had on the previous system version disappears only reappearing in the full screen. Do i have to go into full screen every time? Bit of a pain but no doubt I'm doing something wrong!

Here is how to see RAM overloaded…
Reboot to see the system in it's default state.
Open TextEdit for the sake of it
Open Activity Monitor & Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.
Select the Memory tab
In Terminal enter the following command
memory_pressure -l critical
# note that is a lowercase L
RAM usage will climb, compression will begin the VM will become way more than the system has installed.
Eventually the system will start swapping (look for RED) - Watch the 'memory pressure' & 'Swap used' as this happens.
Try switching to TextEdit - the system is still coping !
Switch back to Terminal & hit ctrl+c to stop the process.
Watch the VM & memory pressure return to normal levels.
This OS kicks 4ss !

i am trying to update my operating software for an iphone 3g to enable me to download io5 and icloud....can I actually do this as i've tried in vain and am getting no where..added to this I am a relative novice so Im probably doing something wrong.
Do you have an iPhone 3G or 3 GS? The 3G can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1

I realise this isn’t necessarily your problem, buy I’m having trouble converting my RAW files to jpegs.
Even though my RAW files are 90MB plus, the jpegs when converted are only around 6MB.
Am I doing something wrong?

No there's nothing wrong with the Jpegs, but I want to srart uploading images for sale in Alamy, but they say they must be a minimum of 17mb un compressed. Does that mean that at 6mb compressed from 90mb they'd be acceptable?

I'm backing up my new iphone 5 from icloud and it's taking forever for my photos to download. It's been going for 4 days. It's downloaded 1400 out of 1900 photos. Am I doing something wrong?
I think you may not using the right technical terms. When backing up to icloud, there is no way you'd get a message saying things will be wiped. This message may be displayed when you are performing a RESTORE from a backup and then trying to cancel it.
If you are doing a restore, then you can reboot and restore again. -
IPhone to iTouch...am I doing something wrong?
A friend gave me his original iPhone after he got a new one and activated his new one. He went into the Utilities and did a "Erase All Content and Settings" and then gave it to me. I simply want to use it as an iTouch type device. I plugged it into my iTunes and selected "new". Now the phone is giving me the message that it is waiting to Activate. Like others I see the phone number associated with the phone in iTunes. If I let it activate is it going to activate it as a phone again and therefore my friend's phone won't work? I don't want to mess something up and make him have to reactivate his phone.

I plugged the "Original iPhone" into my home computer (which is currently synced with my iPhone 3G). When the "Original iPhone" appeared in iTunes there were two choices. I could either "Restore" the phone or I could set it up as a new iPhone. The first time I tried this I clicked "Restore" thinking it would simply restore my music and apps onto this new phone. However, after I selected this option I saw the message that the phone was "Waiting to activate...this could take a while." Thinking I had done something wrong I ran the Utility again to reformat the phone like my friend did the first time. When it was done I plugged it back into iTunes. This time I selected to set it up as a new phone. It accepted my selection and I was able to begin putting music on the phone. However that is when I looked at the iPhone and again saw the "Waiting to activate..." message. So now I am wondering what it is trying to do. Is it trying to reestablish the phone service with AT&T or does the iPhone need to activate even if you are not using it as a phone?
