1900 series warranty

Hi,
Can anyone clarify what does "1 year limited liability warranty" offer. This is with refrence to 1900 series router warranty.
I checked the Cisco Warranty Q&A (https://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/warranty_qa_guest.html) page but it does not also mention any thing with refrence to 1 year limited liability warranty.
Regards
ijlal

Per the 1900 Series Data Sheet:
Warranty Information
The Cisco 1900 Series Integrated Services Router have a 1 year limited liability warranty.
By the way this forum is dedicated to the Cisco Small Business routers, not really the best forum for the ISR routers.  The best Support Forum for all Traditional Cisco products is the Cisco Netpro Support Forum (Netpro link at the near the top of this page).

  • Does 1900 series router supports voice functon?

I have seen that 1921 and 1941 can insert a vwic3 interface card, but i cannot see pvdm on 1921&1941,my question is that how 1921&1941 support voice function(e.g voice termination)?

    Hi.
Based on these docs, it does not support voice

VWIC3 cards are not only for voice, that's why you can add them to a 1900 series router.

  • IPS on 1900 series Router

This should be a simple question.
Customer is thinking about the whole IDS/IPS environment.
    He has some 1921 routers.
Am I correct is saying that If the router has the FL-SEC installed, then all they would need is to purchase the CON-SUSA-1921SEC subscription?
And if he has a plain router, then he needs to add the FL-SEC and then the CON-SUSA-1921SEC?
    Thanks

Within the Cisco Virtual Switching System, one chassis is designated as the active virtual switch and the other is designated as the standby virtual switch. It should be noted that there is no requirement that the two members of the Cisco Virtual Switching System use the same chassis type. The members consisting of the Cisco Virtual Switching System can be different chassis with varying slot counts. Additionally, note that no Cisco 7600 Series chassis will be supported after the system is converted to Cisco Virtual Switching System mode. The initial release of the Cisco Virtual Switching System supports only one Supervisor Engine 720-10G VSS per chassis. A subsequent software release will allow for redundant supervisors to exist in a single physical chassis within the VSS.

  • USB console port on 1900 series

I would like to try and use the USB port on the router instead of the RJ45 port.  What cable do I need for that?  Do I need to configure anything differently on the router?

The cables are the usual USB to USB-Mini which you can buy cheaply at any electronics shop.
You will need to install the driver and the driver can be found HERE.

  • Which is better for Branch Office Cisco ASA or Cisco 1900 router for Branch Office?

Which is a better solution ?
Using ASA55XX or 1900 series router for WAN and Internet access for 25 - 100 users?

Without knowing more about the environment and what the real requirements are, it is difficult to give a really good answer. If your main concern is effective stateful inspection of traffic entering and leaving the site then the ASA is optimized for that. If you want redundancy (active/active or active/standby) then the ASA is better for this. There are other potential requirements which may make the router the better choice:
    - what is the connection to the Internet? If it is Ethernet then either ASA or router will do fine. But if it is something other than Ethernet then you may need the router.
    - is there a need for services such as Policy Based Routing? These are available on the router and not on the ASA.
    - is there a need for load balancing on outbound traffic? This is available on the router and not on the ASA.
    - will there be a need to do routing on the inside network? The range of available options is wider on the router than on the ASA.
    - is there a need to run a routing protocol with the Internet provider? The usual choice for this is BGP and that is available on router and not on ASA.
So consider these criteria as you make your choice. Or provide more detail about your environment and what your real requirements are and we may be able to give better advice.

There were two versions of software for the 1900 series switches, one that purely menu based configuration and management and the Enterprise version, which had an option to exit the menu and get access to a CLI. Note though that this is not Cisco IOS.
There's a post, Catalyst 1900 Enterprise software, on the forum from 2002 that will give you some more details. As indicated in that post there's an option to upgrade to the Enterprise edition, but you obviously need to acquire the software.
As per the reponses from Richard and Leo, these are very old switches and depending upon what you're trying to do with them, may not serve your purpose.

  • 1900 working in AP

We currently have serveral Access points connected into a 1900 series switch. My question is that we are seeing a high level of broadcasts/multicasts on the ports that are assoc. with the AP's, is this normal? Also on the 1900 we only have 2 100mb ports that are being used the AP's are pluged into the 10mb ethernet ports that are only half-duplex cap. should we look into buying a 2900?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jake

I would put a sniffer on the line to see if you've got a device that's arping out of control.

  • Satellite 1900-305 CD R/W Replacement

I want to replace the Toshiba SD-R2212 CD rewriter with DVD burner (I was thinking of the NEC 6650a). A hunt around the web indicates that this laptop expects the optical drive to be a master on the second IDE channel. Is this correct?
I have also read (from an official Toshiba source) that all Toshiba drives operate as Cable Select as default, which seems inconsistent with the first piece of information. Since I would like to buy a drive which operates "out of the box" can anyone tell me how I can avoid the IDE #1 Error I will get if I don't buy a drive with the right Master/Slave/Cable select setting?

    Hello Talon
I have Satellite 1900-703. I have no precise information which drive will fit and works properly but I know just that 1950 series have DVD-R/RW drive. Maybe the same drive will work with 1900 series.
I use DVDs very often and the best solution for me was external drive connected via firewire port. Data transfer speed is very good and on this way I can use the newest and fastest DVD burner (also double layer). Before you search a long time for a right solution I can just recommend you to do the same.
On this way there is no drive that can burn just some formats but you can buy burner that supports all available formats.
    Bye

  • Minimum hardware for VPDN scenario (LAC&LNS)

    Hi,
I've need help with hardware platform selection for vpdn scenario. This deployment will serve up to 20 users max. Can anyone say me which is the minimum router platform and IOS version to use for LAC? And for LNS?
    Thank you.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ciscomax,
    Thaks for your reply.
Estimated throughput may be up to 100/10Mb. This is the wan access provided by our ISP.
I think that 28xx/29xx routers are more than I need. These platforms are running as LNS for more than 100 users in another site.
I want to know if anyone is using any 800/1900 series router for LNS. And what about the IOS version, will sec/k9 needed?
    Best regards.

  • Connecting 2 3750 Switches in Stack with 2 2960 switches in full Mesh

    Hi Friends,
I have attached a pics  which DC design of one of our customer , as network engineer i have design this , so i am responsible for implementing it, now request you all to kindly guide me what would be technical problem i have to face in achieving this and how can i over come .Please be in detail. Waiting for your response .
    Regards
    Amit Kulshrestha

I have attached modified diagram , please suggest.
The major issue I see is that you have not mentioned whether the 2960's are stacked? For the design to work, they need to be stacked because you cannot create port-channels between them and the Core switches unless then 2960's are stacked.
==> You are right , surely 2960 Switch need to be in stack form.
Personally I would look at more powerful switches than the 2960's, something along the lines of the 3750x range or probably now the 3850's.
==> This is constrain of customer, not our responsibility.
The second issue I see is that your servers are connected to the WAN switches. Is there a reason for this? Usually they would be connected to the core switches.
==> For this If 1 separate 2960 series switch can be used ?.
The final point is that you only have single connections from each of your WAN connections which begs the question as to the purpose of having two WAN switches?
==> Customer is having 1900 series of router , only two ports one used for WAN and other used for LAN.
The objective of having two switches is to provide redundancy/resiliency. If you have only one connection from each WAN then why do you need two switches as there is no redundancy?
==> Customer has agreed to have manual change at the time of failure.

  • 1921 15Mbps high speed WAN question and suitability

    Hi All,
I'm looking for some advice on router suitability for the following scenario:
I require an inter vlan router to route approx 200 devices consisting of 150x PC's (Physical & Virtual) and 50x IP Phones.  There will only be a maximum of 5x VLANs.  The router will be primarily used for inter VLAN routing as well as routing to the outside world.  Potentially we may add some ACL's for protecting inter VLAN traffic, but that's basically it.
The router will be connected to the outside via ethernet and a Cisco ASA 5505.  The ASA will provide NAT/Firewall/QoS and packet shaping functionality.  The ASA 5505 is connecting to the outside via cable modem providing 80Mbps down/20Mbps up.
I'd like to understand if the 1921 is suitable for this task specification wise, in addition to confirming the following statement which appears on the datasheet:
'The Cisco 1900 Series enables deployment in high-speed WAN environments with concurrent services enabled up to 15 Mbps.'
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/1900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/data_sheet_c78-598389.html
I assume the above statement is is only effective when used in conjunction with a HWIC and not relevant in my scenario where connection will be via Ethernet and the ASA5505/Cable modem?
The other reason for querying this is a supplier is trying to push me towards a 2911, due to in their opinion that the 1921 is under spec'd for our requirements?
I'd really like to hear some honest answers on this.  I've seeked some advice elsewhere and had some mixed opinions.  I'm more than happy to  go with a 2911 if it's going to be better suited for our needs, but I really don't see how a 1921 won't be suited for our needs?
    TIA
    Kevin

I dont know about the cheap router but you can use IP sla feature on 1900 series ISR.
IP SLA on ISR G2 platforms like your 1900 require Data K9 licence. Can you paste the output of show version.
IP SLA also works on1841,  2800 and 2900 series routers.
