1G nanos: refurb 1Gs are gone... you will get a refurb 6G as a replacement

Good news for those of you who like the ugly little square touch nanos... but NOT good news for those like me who sent back an almost pristine, working black 1G nano and really expected a refurbished one as a replacement.
According to Customer Service today (the man was very nice, and really took the time to look into things for me), all of the 1G nano inventory is already gone and now people are getting refurbished 6G nanos as replacements.  theya re not even refurbishing the 1Gs that they are getting back.  They are "dissecting" them for any parts that can be sued for later gen nanos that they ARE still doing refurbishments on) and trashing the rest of the unit.
So, if you have a 1G nano that you love, at elast know taht you will NOT get a 1G nano back if yours has not already been shipped.
Apple really screwed this whole process up.  Their Customer Service was not able to tell people what we would get back, AND they did not botehr to announce that they were waiving the 10-day return requirement so those of us who loved our 1Gs could hold onto the return box for a while to wait and see what they were sending back.  (If I had known this, I would have chosen to keep my 1G!)
Anyone that got a refurbished black 1G nano want to trade for an ugly, as-yet-to-be-determined-color 6G?  (With my luck, I'll get a butt-ugly orange or silver one...)
Thanks for nothing, Apple... REALLY poor customer service on this one.

Kinda sad but it doesn't surprise me at all - it was obvious they would run out of replacements of such an old product sooner than later.
Keeping the old nanos for use in repairs for people who are paying for repairs or still have a warranty also makes sense - this replacement plan is FREE - remember?
Apple didn't have to replace anyone's nano at all, they decided to, and they ran out of replacements. Instead of going back on their promise and giving people nothing, they are giving out newer models. Sure it might not be what you wanted, but in my view they are still doing The Right Thing (TM) - I'd rather have a new nano than an old one with a potentially exploding battery!

  • What determines who you will get in the dropdown when you change approver?

    Hello,
When you create a shopping cart, you can replace the default approver. However, when you use the "find" button, I get more or less all users in the system, independent of if they have authoriztion to approve my cart or not. This is not very user friendly I think.
How can I controll what result I get when I use the "find" button?

    Hi,
As per the config guide, when you try to assign the User, using the FIND button, you will get to see all the users with the role "SAP_BBP_STAL_MANAGER" who can approve.
Else you can filter the possible selection with the BADI BBP_CHNG_AGNT_GET.

  • Which network is Oracle using for RAC traffic ? where you will get info ? ?

    Hi,
I am using two node RAC on Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.3.0) version on SUN Solaris 10 . I want to know "Which network is Oracle using for RAC traffic ? where you will get info "
    --Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
In 10g, you can query x$ksxpia. If the cluster_interconnect information is stored in OCR (default), you will get
    SQL> select INST_ID,PUB_KSXPIA,PICKED_KSXPIA, NAME_KSXPIA,IP_KSXPIA from x$ksxpia;
If you specified the cluster_interconnects parameter in your init.ora:
    Columns to look in : INST_ID P PICK NAME_KSXPIA IP_KSXPIA
And also you can use 'oradebug ipc' to see which interconnects the database is using:
    SQL> oradebug setmypid
    SQL> oradebug ipc
    Hope it helps...
    Thanks

No.  You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

  • I think If you are up...you will get your preorder

I have talked to several people that don't even have a clue that preorder is on the 3rd.  They know its being released, but no clue about pre-order.  It might seem like the iphone will sell out in 5 minutes, but that because everyone who posts on here is a crazed lunatic.  Don't get me wrong people know about it, but there are a lot that are clueless to the preoder as well. I do think we will be fine.  I AM ONE OF THE CRAZED IPHONE FANATICS:-)

Ya I heard when at&t iphone4 first came out it was like a record or something. That lasted all day too. I also hear like I said I hear could be rumors verizon is going to have more iphones than at&t when they first released the iphone4. I know that most of the people on these fourms will get it on the 3rd, but looking at all the post there are not that many people posting I noticed alot that it has been that same person. I think they will sell out on the 4th in my opinion. I know I will be on when we can get them just because i'm excited, but who knows how fast they will sell out. I have seen people say in 30 min. I highly doubt that but who know i guess were going to have to wait until the 3rd around noon to find out if people are still ordering.

  • My shortcut keys on CS6 are gone. I get a message to reinstall CS6. I would rather not go through the hell of getting the license key for Adobe. Any options?

I get the message that my shortcut keys have gone missing.... And the message says to reinstall Photoshop CS6. I would rather burn my arms off than go through the hell of reinstall with Adobe's horrible licensing process. Please help me avoid this! I tried system restore on my Windows PC to no avail. Any solutions or downloads I might try?
    Thanks for any help.
    John

Not sure what you mean when you say "Adobe's horrible licensing process". If you have a valid license key code you type it in and you are done. The program, licensing system, checks that key against the online system and if it is valid and not installed on more than 2 computers at the same time you don't have to do anything else.
If the version of CS6 you are using is an Upgrade version then you will need to type in a valid license key from a qualified previous version. Again once that is done and it is checked against the online license system you are done.
As to your problem with the shortcut keys going away I "Think" that is a problem with your computer more than with Photoshop. Some how the file that holds the default and user edited keyboard shortcuts has become corrupted or you have somehow deleted it. If it became corrupted that is a Sure Sign you have a hardware problem. More than likely some type of hard drive problem, the drive might be on it's last legs, it is failing and will need to be replaced.
One thing I suggest you do from this point forward is make regular backups of your complete system. Like doing it every week if not more. That way when, NOT IF, you have similar problem you can restore your system from the most current backup. And if it is a hardware failure, like the drive going bad, you can restore your system to that state once the hardware problem is fixed.
If you do have a hardware problem, like the hard drive is dying, reinstalling PS won't stop it from happening again.

  • When they donot replace it by new phone then why the service center say that you will get new i phone .they take good chages for even for old one

I send my s4 for repair the i phone service center say thar they will replace it by new phonr .i think this is not right .this way they are mis guideing .

Are you referring to the use of either a new or refurbished phone as a warranty replacement?  That is spelled out in the warranty, and is common practice in the electronics industry world-wide.  A refurbished unit has been repaired/reconditioned and fully tested by the factory, and carries the same warranty as a new unit.  I have yet to see a refurbished Apple product that did not look almost brand new with the complete packaging and instruction materials.  Most refurbished units are customer returns because they changed their mind.  These units go back to the factory for testing and cleanup, but cannot be sold as new even if they weren't used.
Or, are you saying that you expect your phone to be repaired instead of getting a replacement phone?  I am not aware of any company that sends phones back to the factory for repair and makes you wait for the work to be completed.   You always get a replacement phone instead.

  • Songs on the computer are gone. Will it export from Mini to Computer?

Long story short, my father's computer was completely restored and none of the song files or anything are there and my question is "If he connects the iPod mini to the computer will the songs on the mini export to the computer? Or will all his songs be gone forever?"
I would really appreciate any information.
    Thanks!

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • Sent messages are gone (you can call me an idiot)

I installed extra RAM in my iBook G4 about 2 weeks ago. Since then everything has sort of been acting up, especially Mail, Safari, and Photoshop, as they quit frequently.
But my obvious main concern here is Mail. I looked up other user forums on the Internet and found that if you delete your .plist mail file that it would help with this problem. I did it for Safari first and it seemed to help, so I then did it for Mail. I deleted the .plist, restarted, and was in shock when I opened my Mail to see everything gone.
Now, I realize this is a lame mistake. However, I figured out how to restore my messages, preferences, etc. I have been working fine until tonight when I tried to access previous sent messages. Instead of showing the message, there is an error message that reads:
"The message from Nancy Randle <[email protected]> concerning “Re: a favor” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
The only thing I can think of is that it has reverted to the new account I created to archive saved messages. Is there a way for me to revert back? Is there a way to find these messages? I have tried to find them in my Library, but with no luck.
My biggest concern is with my sent messages, but if anyone has any advice on the RAM install, that would be (OH!) so helpful.
    Anything would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nancy

    Hi Nancyjo
did you backup the home/library/mail folder before you trashed the .plist ?
If you did - the old messages can be recovered.
If not - & you've searched the mail folder in vain for your sent messages - then short of some data recovery software - they're gone.
But the new account you created - is it exactly the same ( mail server & user name ) as your old one? if not, your messages may still be available.
Look in home/library/mail/mailboxes for a folder that matches the old account details ( if a pop server it will be 'POP-your username@your mailserver')
If the folder is there - in addition to the folder for the new account you made - then you're probably in luck.
Make a copy of the whole mail folder first, & the mail.plist file.
In mail - Create a new account with exactly the same details as the one that vanished.
select the inbox or sent folder for the account you just made
    choose mail-mailbox-rebuild
If that doesn't do it, but you find the missing messages within the mail folder - they can still be recovered. Let us know how you get on.
if things go screwy while you do this - quit mail & in finder replace the mail folder & plist file with the backup copies you made before you started. start mail again & you should be back where you were.
Regarding the RAM - barring coincidences, it sounds like a ram problem. Double check that all the ram is physically located properly & try again. If you still have problems - remove the new ram. If the problems go away, the new ram is either faulty or incompatible.

  • I backed up my iphone to my itunes account and now all my contacts are gone can I get them back?

I backed my Iphone up to my new Itunes account and I have lost all my contacts.  Please tell me there is a way I can get them back?

    Check this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
This is what it says under "iTunes will back up the following information":
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
Sounds like you may have experienced some of the "contact data loss".  I suggest using iCloud in the future.

I downloaded a ringtone a few days ago and iTunes charged me twice which I am not happy about, not only that I didn't receive the ringtone.
This is probably not the right place to complain but I have tried contacting iTunes support and they said they will be in contact with myself in 24 hours and well its been well over that !!!!
You guys really need a phone customer services for iTunes, I know quite a few people that this has happened too and waiting for days for a response is not good.

You are not addressing Apple here at all.
This is a user forum.  We are all itunes users just like you.

If you are the USA and using the latest iTunes you can redownload most iTunes purchased via the iCloud beta:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise you can contact iTunes and they MAY allow a redownload.   To contact iTunes see:
