1GB MicroSD -card corrupted, can't be formatted

Hello everyone. I'm afraid I'm in need of urgent help regarding my new Nokia 5700 Xpressmusic I bought 2 days ago. A 1gb Nokia MicroSD memory card was shipped with it, as a freebie. Everything worked great first, but then, when I was transferring video material to my phone, using Nokia Video Manager on my Windows XP Professional, until the process froze while downloading. All my attempts to revive the process were futile, and I had to close the program. This of course left the memory with a "suddenly" canceled download, and all music files and previously downloaded videos became unaccessible, and the memory became non-existent both to my phone and to my computer. Checking the memory thru' the phone, I found out it was corrupted, and needed re-formatting. I reformatted it, and it started to work and was again recognized by my computer as well. But it acted all weird, it's capacity was reduced by approx. 50MB, etc. I then started to download all the music on the memory card all over again (w/ Nokia Music Manager), and this time the download froze with this program. Again, this resulted in a corrupted memory. This time, when I tried to re-format the card, it froze many times in the middle of formatting, and eventually, after several attempts, the process bar went to around 95%, and then flick, the phone blacked out and rebooted itself.
I don't have any memory card readers on my computer, so the only connection between them is my phone. But, since the card is naturally unrecognizable by my computer, I guess there's nothing I can do now, right?
I'd really appreciate if someone informed me on my rights for refund regarding the memory card, if no means of fixing are possible at this point.
Thanks for reading this longy message, and please do reply if you know anything that might help me on this case
[EDIT] Fixed a few typos I found, apologizes for any more (, if) there is.Message Edited by fatalcorruption on 29-Jul-200710:04 AM

hi all..
i live i'm french..so if my qustion isn't very clear i'm sorry!
i seem to have the same problem..
i recently bought a n95-1 over here.. the memory worked ok for about 2 or 3 months, and suddenly it show as "memorycard corrupted" and suggestes that i format it;
i cannot format it on the phone as the card is refused..
on my pc, windows vista i can open or read the card... so i copied all the data and evry thing onto my pc, and formated the card on my pc... i then re copied all the saved stuff on to the card, and put the card back into the phone, and still have the same message.. thinking tha the card was damaged, i bought a new card (verbatim) and again copied all the data ... no luck... the phone just will not recognise any card!!!!
i tried an pc suite update and all..
no way will the card respond..
is it my phone or the slot
or the phone??????????????????
it's driving me crazy!!!!!

  • MicroSD Card Corrupts and Restarts Centro

    Hello,
My Verizon Centro has been randomly corrupting my SD card after I sync and when saving a photo to the card. If I remove the corrupt card and then replace it in the centro, it will then reboot infinitely until I remove the card and reformat it with my PC. The card info page shows a seies of boxes by the little sd card symbol and ptunes claims I have removed the card. If I explore the card with my PC, all the files have boxes for names and will not let me explore the files themselves as the directory syntax is incorrect. Sometimes pTunes will play the last song played but will not find any other songs. I have been removing my card for syncs or just formatting the card and reinstalling the music data to a "MUSIC" folder on the card almost daily. Anyone else having this problem? Help please.

  • Downloaded ringtones to microSD card but can't figure out how to use them

I downloaded a bunch of ringtones and I can find them if I go to "Files/ringtones" on my microSD card, but when I try to use one in Settings/sounds/phone ringtone they are not there.  I can't figure out how to use them.  Can anyone help??  Thanks!

When I go to Music app, the ringtones aren't in the list of artists/songs.  They are stored in the ringtones folder so I don't think they would show up in the Music app.

  • 2 GB microSD card for N3250

has nokia or other flash storage companies released this much awaited 2 gigabyte version of the microSD card? can the 3250 possibly use this larger capacity card if it becomes available ? just a question guys

I think the 3250 will only support 1 Gig of memory card!
i just thought if it needs only a firmware upgrade. it may be just like the 6230 i owned before. i know it supported only 128 MB of memory initially but when i inserted a larger card, a 512 MB, it did read it! think so because it uses a newer firmware. i hope nokia's into this, understanding that memory doesnt need to be limited to 1 GB of memory if their are other higher capacity cards of the same format storage...
By the way megadodo, thanks anyway...

  • Support for WIFI microSD cards

Sorry if this was already asked and answered, but I was wondering if the Blackberry OS supported these new WIFI microSD cards which can be used to add WIFI access to devices that were originally not WIFI enabled.

  • Nokia 5610 XM MicroSD Card formatted in pc not wor...

Hi, My 1GB Nokia Micro SD memory card, that came along with Nokia 5610 XM, was corrupted and had no way to fix/remedy/avert the situation unless format the memory. I wasn't able to check if there was indeed a format option in my phone before formatting the microSD memory card via my computer. I formatted the Micro SD in FAT format and had it checked if my phone can detect it, but it read as "Media Player Sync Files" and it was only a folder and not as a memory icon. I also did FAT32 conversion and result was the same.I checked for format options in my phone but there was none.
I searched the internet for answers or clues as to how can I fix the problem and make my phone function back to normal with its memory card, to no avail I found no answers including here. A forum mentioned that I needed to recover back a file from Nokia that will allow the unit to read the memory card. I don't know what that is.
I hope there will be any "detailed help" provided from anyone who knows how to deal with the issue. Thank you.

Thanks to all should anyone else add information regarding my query.
I found the solution the same day I was having been bothered by it. I happen to have formatted the memory card via a card reader thru my pc. My mobile phone detected it as "Media Player Sync files" and it has 0kb even when it is refilled with mp3s. There isn't any problem with the memory card, but the problem was I did not include a name on the Volume Label found during formatting the memory card.
I reinserted the memory card into my card reader and had it formatted, this time with a Volume Label "Memory Card" (compression is FAT, I heard FAT32 is also okay), then I had the mobile phone read the memory card and was able to detect it as "MEMORY CARD" and used its formatting function to formally format the memory card in Nokia's legal grounds. It is now back to normal.

  • New BB Z30 Freezing, Docs are unable to Open, microSD card automatically formatted after restart, unable to open Some Pictures, Long time for Charging

I purchased a new BlackBerry Z30 recently from http://store.shopblackberry.com/store/bbrryus/en_US/pd/productID.298806900/categoryID.66826600/paren... and my Phone Model number is STL 100-5. I also purchased a Z30 Leather flip case manufactured by BlackBerry. I am using my BlackBerry Z30 along with the Z30 Leather flip case.
    1) Within the first 2 weeks of receiving and using the new BB Z30 device, I noticed a problem of screen not responding some times. My phone has been freezed at the lock screen. My phone is not responding to any key except for the power button. So, I had an option of only restart/Turn Off my BlackBerry Z30 device. All the time whenever I had this problem, I have to restart my device in order to make it work properly again. I complained about this issue with BlackBerry Technical Support. They assisted me to reset the device to factory settings by taking a full backup. After reset also, I still had the same issue.
    2) I am using Sandisk Extreme microSD card of 32GB with my BB Z30 device. Some times due to the restart option, all the data which I had on my microSD card is being erased and is filled with an unknown files.
    3) I'm also unable to open some pictures which I have taken using BlackBerry Z30. As I observed, most of the pictures which I taken using Blackberry Z30 are unable to be open/view them after a few days. Still, I am able to observe the properties of those pictures. They are in JPEG format only.
4)Also If I create a Word Document on BlackBerry Z30 using Docs to Go Application and saved it. After closing that particular document and If I try to open it, the document file is not opening and projecting me an error of "This is not a valid .Doc file", but while I check the properties of that particular document it is in .doc format. I tried to transfer the file to my laptop using bluetooth. After a few seconds (approx 2-3 seconds) automatically the transferring is cancelled by the BlackBerry Z30 device. However, I tried to transfer the file within that short time using Bluetooth. While I tried to open it on my laptop using Microsoft Office 2013, the file is displaying with a squares of upto 4 pages while I had a content in it of 3 lines only. While I opened my file using Microsoft Office 2013, there is only squares available in that document.
    5)  My new BlackBerry Z30 is taking a long time of approximately 6-7 hours to charge the device from 10% to 100%
I request someone to help me with this issues. I would like to thank everyone who can help me with these issues in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

On 7th of Jan 2015 I made my device to factory reset. Also I removed microSD card from my device. As I observed for these 3 days, one time while I received a missed call, I tried to have a look at it. I observed that my screen has been freeze at the receiving call position and its not responding. I tried to close and reopened the display of my device with a flip case which I'm currently using for my device. At this time, after 3-4 swipes to unlock the device, again its back into working condition.
About Documents, I'm able to create, save and open the documents without any issues till now.
About Pictures, they are also working fine without any issues.
I also observed the charging time as approximately 3 hours for charging the device from 14% to 100%.

  • N8 how do I Format the microSD card??

The manual says I can reformat the microSD card in my N8 by  "You can do this in Menu > Applications > Office > File mgr.."
But I can't see any options in there that would do this?

In File Manager point on the card and hold down until the sub menu appear. You will find the FORMAT option there.

  • Ext4 format support for microSD cards on Galaxy S5?

Can we get ext4 format support for microSD cards on Galaxy S5? New permissions that come on KitKat break some of my apps that need local storage. The enhanced permissions available with EXT4 should fix this as that is the internal Flash format. "Use the cloud" is a non-starter so don't even suggest it.

Not directly, but as a large customer they have a big say in what gets loaded in the ROM as evidenced by the many (unwanted) preloaded apps. Adding EXT4 file system support to restore Verizon's end customer user experience is something they can insist on. It is a simple requirement to add when the end manufacturer builds a custom ROM for Verizon. The underlying system already supports it and alternative ROMs (CM) have been created with that feature. I'm just not ready to install alternative ROM code on a phone that was just released, and only a week in my possession.

  • Can't transfer files from PC to BB 8800 microSD card

I have a BBerry 8800.  As part of trying to resolve the problem described below, I have recently upgraded the OS to v4.5.0.81 (Platform 2.7.0.78)  (Rogers network version).
I recently purchased a 2GB microSD card for this Blackberry.  The BB seems to recognize the card (when I go to Options/Media Card it shows 1.8GB total space and 1.8GB free space).  As per other posts here, I have set the other options in this area to:
    Media Card Support = ON
    Encryption Mode = None
Mass Storage Mode Support = ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected = YES
However, I cannot seem to transfer files from my PC.
The BB does not appear as a "device with removeable storage" in Windows Explorer.  Nor does it seem to appear in the Roxio Media Manager - in the devices area it only shows BB internal memory.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what might be the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Here is a bit more info that I have been able to confirm.  Perhaps this will help someone identify a solution to my problems:
    1.  I was able to get my home PC (Windows Vista) to see the Blackberry as a removeable storage device.  This is with:
Mass Storage Mode Support = ON (and the latest USB drivers)
and I was then able to transfer files to the BB as needed.
    2.  However, my work PC (XP Professional) still cannot see the BB (either through Win Explorer OR through Media Manager).  However, if I set Mass Storage Mode Support = OFF, then Media Manager sees the Media Card and I can transfer files via this mechanism.
Any further thoughts on what might be going on?

  • I can't import photos from microSD card.

I can't import photos from MicroSD card. I have an Android phone and it's getting too full. I have to import the photos into iPhoto ASAP. First I tried using the Android Transfer Files app to transfer the photos directly from my phone and it didn't work. So I inserted a microSD card into my phone and transferred photos onto that. Used a card reader through USB and still nothing. iPhoto shows absolutely nothing loading using either method. I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5. My phone can't take anymore photos. I've contacted AT&T, Apple, Pantech, and Android and not a single person could help me. A guy from Pantech actually told me I should have got an iPhone. I told him if I could have afforded it I would have. NEED YOUR HELP PLEEEEEASE!!!  Thank you so much for any help you can give.

Copy the photos from the card to a folder on the desktop. Then import them from there to iPhoto. If that works you can delete them from the card.

  • Corrupted microSD card in 6120 classic

I have Nokia 6120 Classic. Today I've opened my music player and it did not find any songs that were on the micro SD card. I got the card out and when I inserted it again it said that it's corrupted and wanted to format it. After the format I got it out again and then back in. Again corrupted. No matter how many times I've done that the result was the same. I've connected it to my laptop via an USB cable in pc suite mode. When I've copied some mp3s and tried to read them they were corrupted. I've got the card out, put it in my laptop, formated it in fat32, inserted it again in the phone and copied some songs in data mode. The music players found them, added them in the music library but when I restarted the phone I had to add them again. And it adds the song rather slowly.. and the browsing of the files in the phone browser is slow So.. should I buy a new micro SD card or it is the phone? I bought it 2 weeks ago. The card is new too. What should I do? I've tested it under Windows for bad sectors.. anything else. How to be sure that the card is faulty, and not the phone?

  • 1Gb Media Card Wont Be Recognized As Present Anymore

Ok i have a 1Gb Media Card in my Pearl and it was working fine up to the time i took it out one day and now my phone says its not present anymore...i tried putting an other media card in there and the other card works so i dont unerstand why this one doesnt work. I have alot of stuff on my Media Card that is important to me and that its the only place i have them so...
If anyone can help i would be really happy...Thanks

    Hi,
I currently have that problem with my Blackberry Pearl 8100.
I put it a 1 GB MicroSD (Patriot) card and connected the cable to the PC and on the PC I created a folder and added the music to it and pictures.  It worked fine but one day I took the SIM card out just because and when I restarted my phone off and on it would not go pass the providers screen. It stays there, it seems it freezes and it cannot be turned off.  So, I took the media card out and turned it on and it displays the screen with no problem. So again I turned it off and installed the card back in and it still the same problem. I also somehow I installed the media card in the phone without taking the battery out but it still doesn't recognize the card.
The first time I installed the card I don't think it was formatted(not sure). But it was working fine.
I have installed another card and it still doesn't recognize another card. Also, the media card I tried it on another phone and it is not recognized.
Why would it work the first time as BrandonV(below) but not even locate it or make the phone not work while it has the Media card in?
BrandonV, if you found a solution please let me know.
Anyone else be kind enough to propose a solution.
    Thanks,
    Gaby
this was someone trying to help out:
Don't know why the BB would stop seeing the media card, but as far as your important stuff... have you tried putting the card into a reader hooked up to the PC to at least retrieve that stuff or move it to that other card that does work?
Sorry that's all I can think of.

  • Curve 8310 fails to read microSD card

    Greetings,
I bought a Blackberry Curve 8310 last summer and it worked fine until November of last year when the phone failed to read my Micro SD media card. Thinking the media card was the problem, I have bought a new media card a few months ago to try fixing the problem. The problem still persists and I need help getting this fixed.
I currently use Blackberry 4.5 Device OS. Under Options in the phone's menu:
    Media card support: on
    Encryption mode: none
    Mass storage mode support: on
Auto enable MSM when connected: Yes
    Total space: 1.8 GB
    Free Space: 1.4 GB.
This means the phone knows I have a media card but just cannot read it. For pictures, only the pictures I saved onto the microSD card using my computer can be seen, but pictures I took using the phone doesn't show up. When taking pictures, the camera indicates "File system out of resources". For music, all the music is visible, but when trying to play the songs, it doesn't do anything.
I have tried everything from turning off/on the phone, removing the battery to do a hard reset, not downloading any applications to see if they were the cause, and formatting the media card for blackberry use. I have even reformatted the phone 5 to 6 times and installed a clean new OS onto the phone and the problem is still there. The only short-term solution I found in fixing this problem is when using the Desktop Manager to backup my data on the phone. After backing up the data, the phone will recognize my media card and I can access it fine for about 2 to 3 days. Then the phone fails again and I have to keep backing up my data to get my phone to work. Now I am very tired of repeating this process. Either I get a long-term solution or I need a new phone (I believe I still have warrenty).
The phone is great but this problem is getting on my nerves. Someone please help me!
