1st Gen - 2.2.1 update Bluetooth won't turn on

Tried reset / power cycled. Just spins. Doesn't even turn the radio on.
Now what?

How do you know it's not working? Seeing the spinning progress wheel in the Bluetooth settings sections is like seeing the light on in your fridge - when the door's open, it's always on. Even with my Apple headset already paired, I see the spinning wheel.

  • After 10.6.3 update: Bluetooth won't turn on

After installing the incremental update, Bluetooth will not reactivate after sleep. The Bluetooth icon is in the menu bar, but Bluetooth is 'off' and wasn't before sleep. If I try to turn it on, it won't come on. Works fine if I do a full restart.

Since the latest updates I have exactly the same.
Bluetooth Mighty mouse works fine. Logout and put the iMac to sleep.
Pressing the mouse doesn't do anything at all.
To wake the mouse I have to press the keyboard at which point the screen displays an outline of the mouse with connection lost.
20 - 30 seconds later connectivity is fine and I can log in again.
    Very frustrating.
I booted from a 10.5.x on an external disk and the wake from sleep functionality works fine.

  • HT201412 Held Sleep & Home buttons on my iPod Touch (1st Gen.) during restoration process, now won't turn back on. What can I do myself to fix this? Thank!

In short, I was accidentally restoring/resetting my 1st generaton iPod Touch and I wanted to quickly get out of that, so I rebooted as you all know is that I held the Sleep and Home buttons together, and now, it doesn't want to turn on at all! When I try to turn on, only the "Apple" symbol appears ad disappears, goes back off, no power, after a few seconds. Any heard of this or experienced something similar? Anyone know any tricks if so? And, no, I have no time to go to AppleCare, especially since it's an outdated, 1st genration iPod Touch, and for that I feel no need to make an urgent appointment to them. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch 1st Gen and 3.1 update DELETES volume slider

I had a perfectly working iPod Touch 1st Gen/16GB until I updated to 3.1 software. Now I do not have a volume slider.
Yes headphones are in but there is no place to adjust the volume. There is previous, next arrows and play and pause AND its centered in the rectangular area, but no volume slider.
I have restored it 3x in various ways. I have tried 5 times to downgrade the operating system but ALWAYS get an error, so it never completes. Of course the ipsw files where found using google because there isn't any links that work on Apple's site for previous iPhone software. If I try to restore to 3.1 right after that it goes through perfectly.
So it seems that Apple has locked out downgrading once you upgrade! All I want is my volume slider back. How can I get it back if 3.1 deletes it everytime and I can't go back to the previous operating system?
    Thank you.

I too have had this exact same problem, except that I was running 3.0 and hadn't updated to 3.1. I put my ipod on the table overnight, after listening to it, and when I picked it up the next morning, theres no volume slider. I never even unplugged the headphones. Double clicking the home button while on the home screen would bring up the popup to skip songs, and there it says "Dock Connection" even though it not connected to a computer. Multiple reboots an no effect. I've tried different sets of headphones, to no effect. Its like the iPod isnt detecting them being plugged in. The worst part is i DO get sound in the headphones, but no volume control, and the sound level is turned really low. So the headphones ARE working.
I updated to 3.1 just now, and the problem has NOT been fixed. Theres no way anywhere in the settings to adjust the volume. Theres only a limit slider, so I have no way to turn up the volume loud enough to actually HEAR things.

  • Bluetooth won't turn on on my new c5

I received a c5 phone this august but the bluetooth won't turn on. I already updated the software, tried the factory settings but it's no use. Could this be a factory defect? I am planning to exchange it back to Nokia but i don't have the receipt anymore. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you try to switch Bluetooth on? Is there an error message?

  • 1st Gen Ipod Shuffle not updating with iTunes 7.0whatever

My 1st gen. shuffle was doing just fine updating from my iTunes playlist with the older version of iTunes. Then last night I upgraded to 7.0whatever the latest version is and now when I plug in the shuffle to update, I get the usual updating iPod message and then I get the message that it's done...but....nothing has been loaded onto the shuffle.
If I change the playlist for the shuffle to load from, I don't get any little spinning circles next to the song titles and iTunes will freeze up and I'll have to end the program from Task Manager.
I've restored the shuffle to it's original factory settings (even using the special restore program), I've uninstalled and restarted and reinstalled iTunes. I've deleted the temp directory, restarted, reinstalled iTunes. No luck.
The shuffle does work though on an older computer that has an older version of iTunes.
What's in the new version of iTunes that's not agreeing with Win XP and how do I fix it?
    Thanks for your help!

Well, I have that problem too. My shuffle holds about 125 songs or so, yet I've noticed there are always a good 20 or so songs that won't play, no matter how many times I load them onto the device. I have had that problem since I inherited it from a friend.
My new problem is that every time I plug my iPod into iTunes, it no longer updates the playcount for songs. In other words, if I load a song that I've heard 3 times, hear it twice during the day, and replug in my iPod at night, it used to update that song's playcount in the library to 5, but now they still read 3. It's also failing to update the "date last played" field.
I use those to help make sure that I don't load the same songs over and over again by creating a custom playlist that will comb out songs played in the last few days and have a very high play count. Since these are no longer updating, I've noticed that I keep arriving at work only to find my iPod has the same or similar songs as the day before, and dude, if I wanted that, I'd listen to the radio!

  • 1st gen ipod Shuffle not updating play count for songs

I've noticed since I updated to the iTunes version 7.2.035 that plugging in and updating the library with my iPod shuffle no longer updates the play count for the songs I've listened to. Is there a known fix for this? Anyone else experiencing the same problem with their 1st gen ipod shuffle (512)?

  • Ipod 1st gen not working after update

Doing a firmware update via itunes. I couldn't restore my ipod after it had finished doing the update.
The error number I got was 6. And then my iPod just didn't turn on for ages, and now it finally has and won't turn off and is stuck on a the backlit blank black background.
I went into an apple store and the man at the genius bar said because it was itunes, Apple has nada to do with it(?), and was just really unhelpful in general.
The ipod I have is a Touch 1st generation 16GB.
Would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.

It is only available for late 2006 model iPods. The Fifth Generation iPod (Late 2006) serial number's last three digits will be one of the following: V9K, V9P, V9M, V9R, V9L, V9N, V9Q, V9S, WU9, WUA, WUB, WUC, and X3N.
If yours is an older model, it doesn't have it, nor is it available via a software update.

  • Apple TV (1st Gen) can't find update...

I recently got a 1st gen Apple TV from a friend who no longer wanted it.
In order to completely reset it for my use, i ran a system restore using the Menu + - combination and it restored to 1.0 (It was one of the first 40GB units released)
The issue i'm having now is that it alternates between the Apple logo on boot up, displays the menu for approx 1-2 seconds, then goes back to the apple logo.  I can stop this by blocking internet access via my router for the AppleTV and it stops and displays the menu.
I then can re-enable internet access and attempt to update, but it finds no update.  I really want to be able to set this up for my daughter in her room to replace the DVD player and give her access to my movie and music collection, but if i can't update it, then i'm kind of out of luck and have got a nifty looking paper weight....
Can anyone tell me if there is anything i can do at this point?  I'd like to avoid using any method that would require me to dismantle the apple tv if at all possible.
I have another Apple TV that resides in the living room and i love it and would like to be able to add to my stable :-)

Have you tried starting up without internet connection at all (not simply removing it) and then once booted attaching ethernet and checking in Settings for updates manually?
There was a recent thread where someone with similar issues got it to work eventually but I'm struggling to find it.
Please send Apple feedback - they seem to have pulled the rug out from under AppleTV 1 user's feet - restoring to 1.0 or whatever shipping version is teh recognised meothod to reset to shipping - it needs to work for those that shipped with 1.0.

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen no longer sees Airport Express 1st gen in Airplay after update

Apple TV 3rd gen was connected to AirPort Express 1st gen via WiFi, drove a video device via HDMI
and sent audio to the AirPort using Airplay and selecting the AirPort Express under Speakers.
I could adjust the volume with the AppleTV remote.
Apple TV was stored unused for a while.
After powering on yesterday, I ran the update.
Now Apple TV is connected to the Airport Express via WiFi
but Airport Express doesn't show in AirPlay settings.
I can still use AirPlay from my MacBook running Snow Leopard.
There are no updates available for the AirPort

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • AT&T Unlocked Blackberry Classic Bluetooth Won't Turn On

I just purchased an AT&T branded Blackberry Classic and regretfully I can't get Bluetooth to activate. I've tried EVERY method on the boards and no such luck. Yes, I've restored back to factory 2 times now and still, Bluetooth won't activate. Any other ideas or thoughts?

Thank you. Given that, I next recommend you reload your OS, but via the unofficial methods, which are cleaner, and allow you to choose an OS version that perhaps your carrier (or whoever it is controlling your offers) has been slow to approve:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/It may also be that your device has a hardware issue, which of course no amount of OS loading can cure. You can run BBVE to see if it provides you with any information, but if it is hardware, you'd have to seek formal warranty support from whoever you purchased it from.Article ID: KB35973 Using the BlackBerry Virtual Expert (BBVE) diagnostics applicationGood luck and let us know!

  • Volume on ipod touch 1st gen after 3.1 update

i cant figure out how to control the volume on my 1st generation ipod touch after downloading the 3.1 update! please help!!!

This problem has been noted with a bunch of Touch updates. The easiest course of action would be to wait until the next update, which should be very soon - though there's no iron-clad assurance of success.
Your next option would be to visit a local Apple Store/Genius Bar, and have them handle it.
