1st Generation ipod & itrip ?

Can anybody confirm to me that the itrip works ok with the 1st generation ipod? I am thinking of buying one ... any other issues that people have had with the itrip would be worth knowing about.

I had an iTrip (1st gen) with my 4th gen iPod. I gave the itrip away after a few tries cuz the sound bandwith is so limited that it modified the music too much for my own taste. Perhaps the 2nd gen. iTrip is better, I don't know.
My uncle, on the other hand, bought the cassette deck adaptor and is quite pleased with it. That was not an option for me since I don't have a cassette deck on my car.
So I had Volvo install the new iPod adapter in my car, and now I have fabulous sound all over the car. And 2.5 days' worth of music too!

1st Generation iPod Touch No Longer Recognized by Windows 7 PC

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch (no camera) that can no longer connect to my Windows 7 pc. Plugging in the iPod via USB does not trigger any sort of dialog box in Windows and it doesn't trigger a message saying a device has been connected; the iPod does not show up in either iTunes, Computer, Device Manager or Devices and Printers, either as an Apple mobile device or an unrecognized device, and does not charge when connected to USB (though the wall-charger still works). As far as my computer is concerned this iPod does not exist. I had successfully synced this iPod as recently as one week ago and am ready to pitch the thing in the garbage if I can't find a solution.
I have the latest version of iTunes as well as the most up-to-date Windows updates. I have already followed all the steps listed here (iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows) multiple times with no success.
I also have tried following the instructions listed here (Re: For those Windows users who suddenly cannot see their device in iTunes. Here's a solution that has worked.) but this also hasn't worked since the iPod isn't recognized in the Device Manager and I am not given the option of updating the drivers, manually or otherwise.
I have uninstalled/re-installed iTunes and all related Apple services multiple times. The Apple Mobile Device Service is functioning normally. iTunes diagnostics indicate that there is no device connected no matter what I do. I have reinstalled my Windows USB drivers and changed the settings on the USB Root Hub in the Windows Device Manager to disable power saving options.
I have tried connecting the device to another PC which detects and syncs another apple device (iPhone 5) with no issues, and had the exact same result: the computer doesn't even recognize an iPod is connected.
I can't update the Apple Mobile Device Drivers because the device is not recognized by my machine in any way.
I even completely reset my iPod and that just left me with a unactivated iPod that still isn't detected.
I am really unbelievably fed-up with the useless "try checking your USB cable"-style advice that people seem to offer on this forum. If anybody has dealt with this issue and has any serious advice other than "re-install iTunes," it would be much appreciated.

- Did you try another cable?
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

HT4972 upgrade 1st generation ipod

I have the 1st generation ipod touch and its fast becoiming obsolate as I am no longer able to download the latest applications as I'm advised I need to have the software updated, I have since had it reset and updated on the apple web portal but the latest I can have seems to be version 2.2.1. I will require IOS version 3xx and above. How do I proceed to upgrade my software?

iOS 3.1.3 is the last update for the 1G. You get that here:

Updating the 1st generation ipod

I have a 1st generation ipod touch and I had to reset it.
Since the reset I can no longer put any apps like skype,
facebook etc... It says that the software needs to be updated,
but when I try to update it says that it is up to date (3.1.3). HELP!!

In actuality, the 1G can go to 3.1.3.

my 1st generation ipod nano has a shuffle feature, but now it doesnt work. when i turn on the shuffle feature and try to play all songs it only plays the one song you select to be the first song in the shuffle order. when i pick a list of songs it only plays the first song and says in the top corner: song "1 of 1" as if there were no other songs. please help me or else im getting rid of my ipod and not using apple technology ever again.

1st Generation iPod (5GB) not working with new iMac

Hi,
i have the Problem, that my 1st generation iPod is not detected by my new imac (20'' 2,4 Ghz). When i plug in the firewire cable, nothing happens. DiscUtility sees no disc at all.
But when i plug in the iPod "behind" another Firewire disc (acting as a fw-hub), the iPod ist detected within a second, and everything works fine.
I just wanted to know if someone else is having this Problem, or if someone else has a working iPod 1.Gen on the new iMac.

I am one with a 1st gen iPod (Windows, 10GB).
But I have no problems with it and I also don't have a last gen. iMac.

1st Generation Ipod touch keeps crashing/going into stand by mode 3.1.3

I have a 1st generation ipod touch that I recently restored to the newest firmware 3.1.3. My problem is that after this restore and subsequent restore attempts is that the device keeps clicking off to a black screen when I use wifi or transition from different desktop screens. The device does not completely crash as once the screen goes black I can hit the home button an slide to unlock. I have found that if I disable wifi this problem does not occur. I have tried to both reset and restore with no success. Any suggestions or ideas?

If a restore did not help, I'm afraid you have a hardware issue there.

1st Generation Ipod Touch not recognized by Itunes 10.3

Just updated Itunes on my PC to the most recent version. My 1st generation Ipod Touch is not recognized now. I get an error message 0xE800000A. Looking for suggestions. Thanks!

You can't. The 1G iPod can only go as far as iOS 3.1.3. There are not that many apps that are now compatible with the 1G.

Where is my 1st generation ipod nano replacement?

I sent in two 1st generation ipod nanos that qualified for the replacement program. I received one two weeks after I sent both in, through fedex. I'm still waiting for the second one, and it's been 3 months already. The website said it takes up to 6 weeks. I haven't received any emails or messages relate to this problem. Fedex received both ipods and I still have the receipt to prove it. What's going on?

I called apple and tried to find out what happened. Turns out everything was going smoothly until it reached their end. I tracked it with fedex and it said it was delivered to a city in california. The guy I was talking to said apple would get back to me in a couple of days, because they, "have to set up an investigation". It's been a week and 3 days. I'm a big apple fan, but this whole situation is really disappointing.

Trying to install 1st generation iPod Nano on Windows 7 OS laptop.

When trying to open i Tunes installed from my original software CD, I get a message ""The files 'i Tunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of i Tunes." I have a 1st generation iPod Nano and a Windows 7 OS laptop. The newer i Tunes wouldn't work with my iPod (said it was corrupted), and when I restored the ipod, my CD-DVD quit working and I had to do a system restore to fix that. Now I am trying to get my ipod working with my PC again and get the above message. What do I need to do to get everything working together?

Don't use the original software CD, because its software is outdated.

1st Generation iPod nano

I have rediscovered my 1st generation iPod nano in a drawer and am attempting to use it again but it will not sync with iTunes. The do not disconnect message is on the iPod but nothing is happening on the progress bar on the laptop. I have gone through the 5R's but still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

1st generation ipod nano question

Hey everyone,
i have a what i believe is a 1st generation ipod nano ( it's blue )(??) and i had it connected with itunes on another laptop ( windows based ). That laptop died and i recently purchased a new MacBook. So i tried to connect my ipod to the Macbook today but i can't seem to get it to work, i have purcahsed a bunch of songs through itunes that are on the MacBook and i'd like to add them into my ipod.
Is this possible? or because i used my ipod for an older computer am i not able to put the existing songs on my ipod into my MacBook and vice versa, MacBook songs onto the old ipod???

I have an actual 1st generation ipod and am having a similar problem. I had a windows based laptop, which my nano worked on. When I bought my iMac in December '07, I reformatted my ipod to use with my mac. After restoring my ipod, I added some songs and used it for a few days before I got a message telling me that I must restore my ipod. I don't know why the message appeared, but I connected my ipod and restored it again. After that, however, my Mac no longer recognized my ipod in Disk Utility, iTunes, or Finder. I've tried using other Macs, no luck, Windows computers (which actually recognize that something is connected, but it doesn't know what), but nothing seems to work. My ipod turns on fine, I can do everything except add/remove music. It will charge if I plug it in, the entire menu system works. I've done the all the tests in Diagnostic mode and everything seems to be fine, but it still doesn't work. >.<
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
