1st generation shuffle docking to Pioneer VSX-918V receiver Error I1

The Pioneer receiver has a dock for an ipod on the front panel. It won't see the 1st gen shuffle but does see the older ipod. The shuffle is at software 1.1.5. Any suggestions? Thanks!

An iPod shuffle is simply a music playback device? A flash "thumb drive" with a music player chip... Even for that, it's quite amazing that Apple can put the electronics and battery into that tiny case.
The bigger iPods (including the nano) are more like tiny computers. They have a CPU that can do more processing than just music playback, and therefore can interact with the Pioneer receiver.

  • 1st Generation Shuffle and iTunes

I have a 1st generation shuffle with the original itunes software loaded up on a windows PC. My roomate has a second generation shuffle with itunes 7.6.
Will my 1st generation shuffle operate using itunes 7.6 or should we have two separate versions of itunes on our computer?
Also, my 1st generation shuffle uses some USB-based headphones. At what point in the software saga will they stop working? Does anyone know?

The original shuffle will work fine with any version of iTunes that came after it was introduced, including the current version 8.1.1.
Also, my 1st generation shuffle uses some USB-based headphones.
What product is that? iTunes is always being updated, but the software on the 1st gen shuffle will probably not get updated anymore at this point. Each new version of iTunes will just install the same internal iPod software if you do a Restore. Therefore, any peripheral that works now will probably keep working.

  • 1st Generation Shuffle

Help me! My 1st generation shuffle won't turn on. I charged it and the lights were green. When I disconnected it there were no lights at all. The battery light won't show and the light in front doesn't go on. Any suggestions?

  • 1st generation shuffle lights blinking

I have a 1st generation shuffle and it worked fine until I uploaded the lastest version of itunes and now it won't work. Lights flash and when I try to restore it to factory settings I get an error message 1418.
I tried to do the online chat, but was refused support because I was outside of the 90 day purchase window. I think as long as new versions of software are added to use the itunes service, products to play the service should be supported, at least to identify the problem so you know if your product is bad, software setup is troublsome, or your having a user error!
    thanks!

  • Pioneer VSX-1019 Receiver Input Switches

I purchased a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K receiver a few months ago, and have had the annoying problem of the input automatically swtiching a few seconds after being turned on. When the receiver is first turned on it will switch to the correct input for the desired input device (Blu-Ray, Cable Box, etc), but after about 5 seconds it will switch to a different input. I've checked Pioneer's website and it was no help at all. Has anyone else had this problem and know of a solution?
    Here is my system:
    Receiver:  Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K
    TV:  Samsung PN58B860YF
    Cable Box:  Scientific Atlanta 8300HD
    Blu-Ray:  Samsung BD-P1600
    VCR/DVD:  Toshiba D-VR5SU

Hello, were you ever able to resolve this problem?  I have the same Pioneer VSX-1019 receiver and am having the same issue.
I checked your previous posts and it looks like the other user's issue was related to the MultiZone function.  I turned that off on my receiver but am still having the issue.
I have my components (digital set top box, PS3 and WII) running into the receiver and 1 HDMI cable running out to my TV (Samsung UN55B8000).
If I turn just the receiver on everything is fine - the receiver stays on the input it was on when it was last turned off.  As soon as I turn the TV on however, after a few seconds the receiver automatically switches to the TV/Satellite input.  From there I have to manually switch the receiver to the correct input based on the device I'm using and it stays on that input.
Something about the TV turning on seems to be kicking the receiver to switch to the TV/Satellite input.
    Any ideas?

  • Ipod 1st generation shuffle isn't recognized by iTunes

Plugged my 1st generation iPod shuffle into the USB port and it isn't showing up in iTunes.
I have read through all the Troubleshooting steps and nothing seems to be working.
When I go to Eject Hardware though, it shows Eject Ipod, so I know my Dell PC (Windows 8) is seeing the shuffle.
    Odd.
I'll take any help anyone has!
    Thanks.

In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
When connected, the shuffle should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  It does not appear there?
If it does not, as a test, shut down (power off) your computer.  Disconnect all USB devices including hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  If your PC is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it is not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle

Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  Any difference when the shuffle is the only USB device connected?

  • 1st gen shuffle not recognized

I have a 1st generation shuffle that my mac won't recognize. The problem occurred shortly after I upgraded to itunes 7 yesterday.
Its not recognized by the iPod shuffle Reset Utility. It doesn't seem to be recognized by any of the usb ports on computer/keyboard.
Restarting the computer doesn't help. Warranty has expired and the battery is dying. I hope its not on its way to being terminally DEAD. Suggestions?

  • How do I keep the order of a playlist when I synch to my 1st gen. shuffle?

    Hi,
I have a 1st generation Shuffle and am trying to synch a playlist to it. I am able to drag and synch the playlist, but once it gets on my Shuffle, all the songs are alphabetized. I want to keep them in the order of my playlist. How do I do this? I am SO frustrated! Thanks, Melissa

Melissa, once you go to the contents page of your device, you will see panels that say: Name, Time, Artist, etc. By clicking on one of these panels, you can change the order according to these criteria. I had this same problem for 2 weeks, couldn't figure it out. My wife solved it in 2 minutes. Try this and good luck.

  • Bought 2nd Gen Nano. Can I give 1st Gen shuffle to somone else?

I recently got a 2nd generation nano and would like to give my 1st generation shuffle to a friend. Is it possible to do this and if so, how would I go about setting it up to her computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If possible, could someone in the know email me as soon as possible, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you. :o)

If you want to give your Shuffle away there's really not much you need to do. If it isn't already installed, download the latest iTunes to your friend's computer and load up whatever music she has either on the hard drive or from CDs. Then just connect the Shuffle to the PC. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Erase and Sync" and it will update from the new iTunes. You'll probably also want to rename the Shuffle:
Select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
Click on it's its name again.
The text box will open for editing.
    Type a new name.

  • 2nd Generation Shuffle crashes

I have a 1st generation Shuffle that works super. My Wife purchased a 2nd generation Shuffle and returned it under warranty because it would lock up in the middle of a song and would not restart. We tried restoring, reloading the music, everything. Apple replaced it, and we have the same problem with the new one. It will play 4 or 5 songs, then lock up after playing maybe 30 seconds of the next song. If you turn the Shuffle off, unplug the headset, plug the headset back in, and turn it on, it will play again. It will play maybe 7 or 8 songs and then lock up in the middle of another song. I have restored the Shuffle with no music, reloaded all of the music again, set the settings so it will convert all music to 128K bitrate, but it still does the same thing, crashes.

Since no one responded, I called Apple, who couldn't resolve the problem other than to ship a second replacement shuffle. The new one works fine after dealing with two previous duds.

  • 1st generation external charger

Can the external battery charger for a 1st generation shuffle be used for a 4th generation shuffle?is

I probably did not express my self properly.
My old shuffle that looks like a package of gum has a USB connector on the bottom and my 5V cube that I plug into the 110V socket has a USB port.  The shuffle that I just purchased is 2 GB and came with a short cable with a mini-plug on one end and a USB connector on the other end.  To charge it I just plug it into a USB port on my computer.  I was asking if I could use this short cable and plug the USB connector into the USB port on the 5V cube I have?
I hope this is a better explanation.  Thank you for your help.
