1st Mobile Infrastructure Meet-The-Experts Session on 20-Sep-06

Hello mobile SDN community,
The NetWeaver Mobile development team is now hosting "Mobile
Infrastructure Meet-The-Experts" sessions. The first session with
the topic "MI Configuration" takes place on September 20th.
Interested? - Below you find more details about it.
  <b>What is a "Meet-The-Expert" Session?</b>
A "Meet-The-Experts" Session is the forum for MI consultants,
mobile application consultants and mobile application developers
having a technical background to ask questions directly to
colleagues from MI development. This kind of session is different
to "RKT Live Expert Sessions" where a specific topic is
presented/demo-ed and questions can be asked at the end regarding
this topic. A "Meet-The-Experts" Session focuses more on
questions than on presentation. Here speakers give a short
introduction to the topic (approx. 15 minutes) on a high level
and then discuss questions brought up by the audience. It is
highly appreciated if you contribute with a number of
  questions.
<b>When is the next one scheduled and what is the topic?</b>
The first session is dedicated to the topic "Mobile
Infrastructure - Configuration" (J2EE/ABAP configuration, CCMS,
SSO, security, compression, File/DB persistence and amount of
data, device types, etc.) The speakers are Nameeta S Kustagi,
Sivakumar V and Karthik V Setty. It takes place on September 20th
at 5:30 pm IST which is 2:00 pm CET/8:00 am EDT/5:00 am PST.
<b>How about the level of questions? Can I ask "stupid" questions?</b>
Don't be afraid - verything can be asked. However, it is recommended
that you have either participated in a MI classroom training (TMOB20/TMOB40)
or have completed the relevant RKT Learning Maps (Link: http://service.sap.com/rkt-mi)
or have extensive MI knowledge gained in a MI project. For some topics, basic
knowledge of the new new device management tools might be
required. You can learn about it in the recently held Live Expert Sessions
(Link: http://service.sap.com/rkt-mi => Live Expert Sessions).
<b>Can I send my questions beforehand so that the speakers can prepare for it?</b>
You are welcome to include your questions in this forum thread. These questions
will get priority in the session. Please post your questions in the thread until 24 hours
prior to the event. Of course, you can also ask questions during the session.
To do that, please indicate that in the conferencing tool using the "raise hand" button.
<b>How to I dial-in and what conferencing tool is used?</b>
We are using WebEx for transmission of slides, etc. Please note that a small installation
need to be performed at your PC to participate in this session. For the audio a
conference call is used. The details can be found below.
<b>I cannot participate live - will there be a recording of the sessions?</b>
Yes. The download location will be posted in this thread after the session.
  <b>Will there be future sessions?</b>
Yes, there will be an SDN blog soon regarding future sessions about Generic Sync, Smart Sync and the new
  NW Mobile Administrator.

  • 1st Meet-the-expert session is now open for registration

    Hello,
SAP's CAF PM team will start a session series (so called 'Meet-the-expert' sessions) to bring closer the CAF topic to the SDN community. The first session is now arranged and open for registration (<a href="https://sap.webex.com/sap/j.php?ED=87816077&RG=1">Registration</a>). The session will take place on Friday (Oct 27th), 10 a.m. EMEA(German) time. In approx. 1h, we'd like to give a short introduction into CAF, show a simple Composite (that will be the base example where the coming sessions will explain special topics), have an overview look on the modelling aspects of such a simple Composite and at the end of this hour, there is an open Q&A discussion planned.

I was reading the transcript of the presentation, it was very interesting and informative.  Just a question in the rollout schedule which there was a number f questions and references,.  Does Delaware gets grouped with the Philadelphia market?  or is it its own entity, and which part of rollout does it fall into beginning, middle, or end?

  • HP proudly announces the first "Meet the Experts" on line chat event March 16th, 2009

HP is proud to announce the first in a series of on line chat events sessions where you will have an opportunity to interact real-time with some of HP's top guns in a particular area of interest. We will focus on different topics and technologies in future Meet the Expert sessions.
Meet the Experts: Wireless and Network Printing 101
Meet four of HP's wireless, network printing experts Monday on March 16th from 3:30 - 4:30 PM PST.
Cameron has been with HP for 27 years. He's worked on everything from faxes to printers. He is the lead for Customer Satisfaction Connectivity and has a lot of experience troubleshooting many common network issues.
Craig has been with HP for more than 20 years and has focused on printers for 17 of those years. He is a Distinguished Technologist at HP and has a great deal of experience setting up networks and printers. He is also the go to guy for solving software printing issues.
David has been with HP's printing group for 15 years.  He has a lot of history with HP's wireless printers, as a software manager and a firmware manager. He's followed the developments in wireless technology closely and is focused on understanding the challenges customers face and helping solve them. You can check out his blog Network Inkjets from the Inside.
Jim has been at HP for 20 years. He focuses on Wi-Fi technology and is an Architect and Technical Lead for 802.11. He specializes in setting up, troubleshooting and fine tuning WiFi networks.
These experts will answer your questions and give tips on how to navigate the murky waters of network printing. Topics that may be covered in this real-time chat event include:
Urban myths on the best ways to secure your wireless network
Common pitfalls such as poor wireless connections and firewall interference
Embedded web servers, when and when not to use them
The pros and cons of "Adhoc" versus "Infrastructure" networks
While you can attend this real-time chat event without signing up in advance, you must be a member of the HP Support Forums to ask questions. Signing up to become a member of the forums is easy and only takes a few moments, plus it will allow you to post questions or give answers on the Forums.
     And it is all free!
So, come and learn about wireless and network printing. Please be sure to come on time as space is limited!
If you can't make the chat event, we'll post a transcript of the event on the Printing and All in Ones board.
If you'd like to learn more, check out HP's free online classes where you can take classes such as "Go wireless: using Bluetooth to connect and print" or "Print wirelessly at home or on the road."
Thanks in advance for your interest and participation!

I want to eliminate my home phone. Can I still have internet access without a home phone line.
Hi MelleMel - Sorry to hear that you are interested in disconnecting your home phone.  In most cases you can have access to Verizon High Speed Data services through either our HSI or FiOS data services.  It will depend on the area you live in.
You should also be aware that if you disconnect your phone that you might lose double bundle promotions that you might be recieving.
I would suggest that you call 1-800-Verizon and one of our friendly reps will be able to help you select the package that best meets your needs.
Finally, if you decide to disconnect your home phone services please be sure to check out Verizon Wireless.

  • Meet the Experts: How to use recording

I appreciate the fact that a recording of the Meet the Experts session is available. Could someone please tell me what software is required to view or listen to the recording? The file type is .wrf, which is apparently some sort of WebEx file. But it is not clear how the file is to be used.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kelly

    Hi Kelly,
The WebEx player associates its extensions files only if you
run it once in your pc.
    For this...
    Goto Start Menu->Programs->WebEx Record & Playback->WebEx Player
Execute the player. Now you will see the icon of file with extension .wrf is changed to the web-ex icon.
Hope it solves your problem. Enjoy listening to WebEx Sessions.
