1st song on all my cds breaks up or doesn't play

All the others songs work perfectly, but the first makes crackling sounds, or doesn't play for like 10 secs or a minute. When it starts playing, and I drag the timer back to the start of the song it works fine, but it nevers works if I just double click the song. Any ideas?

MrDew,
Let's start with this knowledge base article,
iTunes for Windows: Songs and other audio don't sound right
Sometimes it's just an audio driver problem.
If that doesn't help, I need more information about your hardware configuration. Please run the iTunes Help menu -> Run CD diagnostics and post the output here.

    Hello Robert,
With the latest version of iTunes on Windows, the menu bars are hidden, and it sounds like yours need to be enabled before you can authorize your computer.  You can follow these steps to enable the menu bars:
To keep the iTunes menus active, change the setting by selecting the Menu icon in the upper-left, and then selecting Show Menu Bar. Alternatively, you can press Control-B.
You can find the full article here:

Once you have those turned on, you should be able to go to "Store>Authorize This Computer..." as outlined in this article:

Depends on why it's ineligible.  If it's under 96 Kpbs, try right-clicking on the file and choosing Create AAC Version.  (If you don't see this option, go to iTunes>Preferences, click "Import Settings..." then choose "Import Using: AAC Encoder" and "Setting: iTunes Plus".)  Then rescan your library to see if this version will add to iTunes Match.  Or, after changing your import setting, just re-import the song to your iTunes library.
If the song is over 200 MB you would have to reduce it's size to make it eligible.

  • 1st Gen iPhone - ALL songs and videos no longer there. POOF! No sync.

I have not listened to music or watched videos on my 1st gen iPhone in about 2 months. Little did I know, ALL the songs and ALL the videos have disappeared. Gone Poof. I have not synced in a couple of months so it wasn't a result of a new OS. Maybe it's just getting old but has this happened to anyone else? I don't know where they went or when it happened. Gremlins? I am now afraid to reload/sync for fear I will lose pix and contacts. Just want to know if this spontaneously happened to anyone else???

    Hey Larry,
I went ahead and did a "restore" and everything was back to normal. It did take a while, though, as it wiped out then re-copied over 7Gigs of data to the phone. It was a hassle, but all is OK. I'm still concerned, though. I also spoke with a Genius at the Apple store who had never seen this, and thought it was a problem with the "file type" in iTunes, but i checked and movies were still "movie" filetype. He suggested MANUALLY checking/adjusting every file, but that is rediculous and there were hundreds of songs and videos!! Anywho, on my iPhone the date outside of the iPod items (music, videos, podcasts, etc.) was not effected, and all is back to normal after a lengthy "restore." Still looking for a "why" on this one...

Right now the limit is what it is, 25,000 tracks. Tracks purchased from the iTunes Store do not count against that number. Whether Apple has any plans to increase that limit none of us here, who are all just fellow users, will know. We'll have to wait and see.
    Regards.

  • Almost all the songs I copied from CDs say can not find file when I try to sync them or add to Playlists

Almost every song I copied from CDs to my iPod now have ! next to them and say File not found. Am I going to have to re download them?

Am I going to have to re download them?
Maybe. However, they may still be on your PC's hard drive somewhere. Try searching for these files and then adding them back to iTunes.  See this article for more information and assistance.

  • Imprting from cd, 1st song constantly incomplete

i have been importing my cds to my computer.. it always seems the 1st song on each cd lags when importing.. gives up, says its complete but only has about 30 seconds or so of the song.. the rest of the cd and songs import fine, but this has been a consistent problem.. does anybody know what causes this

From your first post I thought it was just one CD, but if you're saying it happens to many - or all - of them, then either every single one has a got a scratch or finger mark on it (towards the middle of the CD if it's the first track) - or - perhaps more likely, there's something wrong with the CD drive in your computer.
Is there another CD drive on your computer (mine has two)? If so, try using that instead, although you may need to tell iTunes to look for it.
Otherwise, I suggest you try narrowing down the problem, as follows:
If it is always the first track of many CDs, then do check the playing side of the disc for marks (the playing side is the one without the text/picture on it, not everyone knows this). Then, if that doesn't show up any problem, I think it could be time to ask for an opinion on the CD drive itself. Do you have a local computer repair shop nearby? If so, ask them for an opinion and estimate of cost before taking it in.
Personally, I don't think "reloading iTunes" will achieve anything and while moving to your Mac might solve that particular problem, I think it'll cause you many, many more! First of which (and I may be wrong on this), doesn't an iPod configured for Windows not work on a Mac until re-formatted (and the same applies the other way round)?

  • I have hundreds of songs that reside on my iPhone 4.  When I bought an iPhone 5S, the only songs that downloaded were those that I purchased from iTunes.  The other songs were all legitimately loaded from CD's that I owned.  Why have they been excluded, a

I have hundreds of songs that reside on my iPhone 4.  When I upgraded to an iPhone 5S, only 75 songs loaded (those bought from iTunes).  What happened to the rest of my songs which all came fro  CDs I had purchased and downloaded to my phone???

They are still in iTunes on your computer..
    unless you deleted them.
When I upgraded to an iPhone 5S,
When you first started up your iPhone 5S, did you Restore from backup and select the iPhone 4 backup?
This will put all the info that was on the iPhone 4, onto the iPhone 5S.

  • Since last sync on iPod Touch 1g, music crashes after playing 1st song.

Since the last sync on my iPod Touch 1g, both the 3rd party apps and the music app would crash after opening (music after playing 1st song).  I found a fix online for the apps, but how do I get my music to play again?

I have had a similar hiccups with my 3G ipod touch 64gb after updating it with the new iOS 5.  While syncing in iTunes on my MacBook, the storage bar on the bottom will show that most of the space is taken up with my songs that I want synced from iTunes but when I go to use the iPod touch after ejecting it from the MacBook the songs are listed in a ghost like consistency but the actual files are not there and I can't get any response when I touch the song title or album that I want played.  In fact, when looking at the "About" inquiry screen within the Settings on the ipod touch, it shows that most all of my space is unused.  Where are the phantom files, and why doesn't a synch work as smoothly as before?  Conversely,  my 4G ipod touch works flawlessly, so far, with the new iOS 5. I am afraid that the new iOS 5 isn't ready for prime time when it comes to the 3G ipod touches.  Have any others had a similar problem when it comes to synching music, which used to sync flawlessly without problems, to their 3G ipod touches with the new iOS 5 upgrade?

  • My iTunes stopped being able to import all commercial CDs! Can't read them. Please help.

My iTunes stopped being able to import all commercial CDs! I keep getting this message: The song names for this CD could not be found online. Do you still want to import the songs? These are store-bought, mainstream artists. Never had problems before. This is a new Mac Book pro. I am temporarily relocating and was transferring most of my commercial CDs to Itunes. Went through about 100 CDs, including a dozen today, and now none will read. I tried downloading new software (it was up-to-date), and quitting and restarting. It seems that everyone who had this problem that I found on Internet searches was trying to import burned discs. Please help

So far, there are three of us who've posted a similar problem, in the last hour or so.   It may be working for you now;  it has started working for some, but it's still not working for me.  It's not your Mac.  It seems to be something related to Gracenote Media Database.
Your statement says it's stopped importing the commercial CD's but I think you mean it will import them, but not recognize song titles or album titles, even though your CD's are regular commercial CDs.  If that's the case, you are experiencing the same thing I am.

one caveat with the repeat 22 times , it doesn't works properly if the shuffle or the song repeat is ON.
Here is a script that works in all cases.
set the clipboard to "fun song" as string
    tell application "iTunes"
      activate
set view of front browser window to playlist "Music"
    end tell
tell application "System Events" to tell application process "iTunes"
      keystroke "f" using {command down, option down}
      keystroke "v" using command down
    end tell
    set x to the clipboard
    tell application "iTunes" to try
set fixed indexing to false -- the tracks will be sorted as the playlist
      stop
play item 1 of (search (view of front browser window) for x) --  play first track in the founded tracks
    end try

  • Transferring slideshow w/attached playlist to idvd only 1st song transfers

I created a slideshow in iphoto version 5.0.4 with an attached playlist created in itunes and exported the slideshow to idvd. However only the 1st song in the playlist plays. the rest of the slideshow is silent. Help!!

    Hi dduffy,
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

"Message" usually means a text message.  I suspect you mean email messages.  If so, and the email account you use is IMAP, then you can't delete an email on a device but not on the server - that's the way all IMAP services work.  If the account is POP, and if the email service provides this, then there should be a setting in your email settings for that account to NOT delete from the server.
If you really mean a text message, then how it works is designed by your carrier.
