1st steps to take on a new PC before installing CS5?
I have my new i7 PC set to arrive next week and when it does I want to make sure I break it in properly and add the needed updates before installing Premiere CS5. Here's my checklist so far:
1. Update system bios.
2. Update video card drivers (I'm getting the Nvidia GTX-470)
3. Install anti-virus software (I like to use Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials)
Is there anything else you think should be done before loading my precious Adobe install DVD?
I'm also adding a second hard drive for video files... I forgot, should this be formated as FAT or that other format?
And once Premiere is installed, I assume I should check to see if there are any updates?
For the final step after Premiere is installed I'll perform the GTX-470 Mercury hack and (god willing) I'll be in HD real time editing heaven!
2nd hard drive is a MINIMUM... I use 3 hard drives... all drives are NTFS, never Fat32

You should also buy software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... which makes restoring very easy

Since this runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information

BT demanding I take out a new 12 month contract to...
Hi there
As per title, my exchange has recently been upgraded as part of 21CN and I want to go from ADSL to ADSL2+ immediately. I am on their top unlimited package, paying £24 a month and I am absolutely amazed that they want me to take out a new contract before I get ADSL2+.
I want to make sure that the speed is better with ADSL2+ before I commit to BT for 12 months. I had a nightmare with them last year and it took 4 months for them to fix it so they really don't deserve any faith from me.
Surely, as I am paying the most anyone can pay to BT for Broadband that I deserve the fastest speed possible?
Am I being unreasonable?

DezzaIf you want an idea of new speed possible on adsl2 then enter your current attenuation + 2db (increase due to adsl2) and this will show possible speed

I would suggest you do a forum search for 'upgrade problems' just so you are aware the upgrade can cause problems
as Ectophileexplained you will get upgraded without any new contract but you need to wait until BT upgrade all customers. if you want to jump queue then new contract is required - you also get the chance to negotiate a reduced monthly package cost

I have a 2 yr old Iphone 4 and have not backed up or connected to Itunes up for 1 yr. I have new Windows 7 computer and want to connect and copy Itunes backed up folder from external HD (a year ago) to new computer and install new Itunes and new IOS. What steps should I take and what precautions? I don't want to lose any data on my phone such as music, photos, contacts, notes, texts etc, nor lose music from prior backed up Itune folder. Apps should be OK from app store? Thanks for any help.

I am in the midst of setting up my new iPad Air, and the process seems to be stuck on "Updating iCloud settings..." What is a reasonable time for this step to take?
Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to a minute. If it's stuck, you might want to give Apple support a call to see if they are experiencing unreported server issues. Since your device is new, you are within the 90-day free call support period. You can set up the call here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. You will need your serial number, which is on the box and (I believe) the back of your iPad.

Apple loop index folder is empty from the hard drive, which may explain why i can not find loop in my logic pro browser, just sort of grey in disaabled format. what would be the next appropriate steps to take??? I do have an external back up disk.
The IDE interface that the iBook and your desktop use are the same, just a different plug size. So with the rite adapter you could put the iBooks drive in your desktop, you could even boot off it too.
If you want to install the laptops HD in your desktop this will do it for you. Or you can use the iBooks HD as an external hard drive with this -
Basic 1st steps for Actionscripts
So, I'm wondering what the basic 1st steps are for
Actionscripts in Flash applications? Being new and making no
assumptions, I'd say that the file starts with Frame1 of the main
timeline. Does that actionscript ever get 'processed' or 'run'
again? Or do you need everything else to be in 'functions' and
event driven by using listeners?
Can someone clue me in to more of an overall flash way of
programming?
Some questions are:
- If there is code in frame1 of the 'actions' layer, and
code in frame1 of 'mylayer' (both on the main stage), does one run
before the other? If so, based on what? Which one is on top?
- Also, I've tried a 'GotoandPlay' command from my initial
actionscript in Frame1 of 'actions' layer, but since it's outside
of a function it only seems to advance the frame of the object to
the proper frame lablel. But it doesn't run from that point on. So
what's the thinking here?Action script is loaded top down, you can see this by putting
2 layers in your file and adding a line of AS to each layer
on layer 1 put trace("layer 1")
on layer 2 put trace("layer 2")
control - enter to preview the movie and you will see in the
output that the layer 1 text is traced before the layer 2 text.
AS3 application development has moved more towards using
external AS in packages and classes that load from .as files
although you can still do your AS in frames of the actual FLA if
thats what you are used to/prefer.
target.gotoAndStop() will advance to the targets frame
specified by number or label and then stop
target.gotoAndPlay() will advance to the targets frame
specified by number or label and then play from that point
so if you are on the main time line and want to go play
starting at the 5th frame of the main timeline you can just say
gotoAndPlay(5);
and if you have a movieclip on the main timeline with the
instance name "movie1" you can tell it to go play it's 5th frame by
saying
movie1.gotoAndPlay(5);
and if you are inside movie1 and want to tell the main
timeline to go to and play at the 5th frame you can say
root.gotoAndPlay(5);
Best thing I can suggest if starting to work through some
tutorials...there are a bunch in flash, and lots more on the web.
Get to know the basics then come back here when you have some
specific questions about getting someting to work. Hlepful in that
case if you can post your code :) -

Selling iPhone 2G, upgrading to 3G, steps to take?

I am selling my iPhone 2G and upgrading to a 3G this week, and wanted to make sure I knew the proper steps to take before doing so. I know that I will need to restore the 2G for the new owner. What I'm curious about though, is how do I make sure I can get all of the information, apps, contacts etc. into my 3G? Thanks in advance for all of the help!Sync your iPhone with iTunes, and also select iTunes > File menu > Transfer Purchases From... to move anything bought on the phone into iTunes. With the old phone, before you sell it, select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (that clears out the data on the phone, with a secure wipe assuming you are running v2.x), and remove the SIM card.
When you get your new phone, you'll have the option to set it up from the Backup of the old phone - do that. The only thing that does not transfer over are the passwords (network and voicemail - so you'll need to set those up again). -
i have a canon hf10 and need to be able to transfer my video from my camera to my computer so I can burn them to dvd is there a step by step process? i'm new 2 the mac world. I tried downloading imovie 7.1.2 but it said, "An eligible iMovie application was not found in the location /Applications." can anyone give me step by step instructions? i would hate to call the geek squad!!!LOL

Hi, My friend has just updated there 3GS to IOS6 and once it's done, 2 screens appear. first one says, Update complete, there are just a few more steps to take. Press continue and another screen comes up with the itunes symbol and the cable and says connect to itunes. Once plugged in, on itunes it reconises the phone and has the loading symbol up, but it doesn't loads anything and can't press anything. Anyone know why and how to resolve this?

How long does it take for a new book to appear in the iBook store after you have submitted it successfully? I submitted a free book last night. No sign of it 6 hours later ... If the delay is because process are being followed, what ate they? Any ideas?

It sure seems like it should work...and then I saw that you're using a router. It could very well be that the router is the weak link here.
Instead connecting to your network router, try using a direct USB connection from your MBP. If that doesn't work, you read this post, which may be relevant to your problem:

Two step confirmation with RF device (Mobile Data Entry) - 1st step only

I want to implement the following scenario:
- WM transfer orders are created, relevant for two step confirmation;
- a user working with RF device confirms the 1st step - picking;
- then the materials are transported physically to another building (the same warehouse number);
- another user working with RF device confirms the 2nd step - putaway.
For confirming the 1st step I tried to use standard transaction LM07. Confirmation of the 1st step is working fine but right after that a screen for confirming the 2nd step is displayed to the user. I would like this transaction to finish just after confirming the 1st step and not to proceed with the 2nd step immediately - because the confirmation of the 2nd step should be done by another user (with some other transaction).
What is more: if you exit the transaction manually after confirming the 1st step the system saves the TO number (in table LRF_WKQU) and in some circumstances triggers the screen for confirming the 2nd step even if you do not run LM07 - this is so called "recovery" function which is a nuisance in my case.
So my question is: is there a way to customize LM07 so that it finished processing automatically right after confirming the 1st step for a two step confirmation TO ? (and without storing data for "recovery" function). Or maybe some other mobile-data-entry transaction should be used for that ?

One more information, which i would like to communicate on this issue.
We have raised OSS message to SAP on this issue. They have replied back that, on screen 1302, we have some custom code which is interfering with the system behavior.
As of now, we have analyzed at our end, and we found that, the enhancement at screen 1302 is restricted for the functionality, and in theory, this enhancement should not be effecting at all the system behavior.
SAP has suggested to test the scenario , without any enhancement on screen 1302.
Still we are in discussion with SAP, and try to find out the resolution.
Can you also check in your system, if you have any enhancement on screen 1302 ? And if yes, does it interfering with the stander SAP codes.
