1st time installation for newbies
I'm a newbie and am finding it difficult to determine the steps I need to follow to begin learning Oracle. With so many products there's nothing online to suggest or recommend where to start. Consequently, I've just spent over 3+ hours downloading the 9i Personal Edition. After doing so, the zip file didn't install anything but a few folders. Upon further searching, the folders were empty of files, which is hard to believe given the size of the download. Going back to the source of where I selected to download, there were no tips or guidelines noted at to how to install the 9i Personal Edition. I then looked through the FAQ's, with no success. I can't believe I'm the first to encounter this problem. In addition, I'm running Windows ME, which is NOT one of the choices given, so I've selected Win 98, ASSUMING it might be the correct choice. It would see that someone managing this website needs to provide a sequence of steps to follow in getting up to speed as well as bring more clarity to the installation process. I'd appreciate someones feedback on this.

I downloaded the 3 zipped files for Oracle 91 for Personal Edition on a XP platform, and unizipped them.
Then I went to Programs / Oracle / Setup.exe
I installed the default options.
I tried to go to SQL but I don{t know what hos name I should use.
Is there any PDF file with instructions on how to star using SQL in my new installation, and in general how to start studying using my own machine (XP)?
I have printed some material from the site (SQL).

1st time installation question?
I am installing Logic 9 Studio, and since I have FCP 3 Studio I didn't install compressor or STP2. I notices that some loops were unchecked. I check as many as I could. Were these the GB and STP loops that already existed? Also the install doesn't need Audio Content Discs 2 and 3. Am I missing out on any audio content that should be installed?
Cheers.The audio content disks are the Soundtrack Pro audio content. If you've already installed these with FCP, then there is no need or point installing them again.

For the 1st time I am trying to send an iphoto by e-mail but get the error message " combination of username and password not recognised by the server" I use Sky Mail ( yahoo mail) and input the same username and password that I access Sky Mail - have retried many times. Predictably the Sky help desk have no idea. Can anyone help please?
I regret that you're having trouble setting up your email, corbad! You're on the right track with your incoming email address. You might also try incoming.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net as possible alternatives, and 995 as the port number. Please let me know how that goes!

How to sync iPad with apps for 1st time to iTunes?

Can't find the answer to this question directly, hence posting it here.
My nephew's iPad has many apps , and photos, and he has never synced it to iTunes. He want's me to help him. I'm reasonably familiar with both iPad and iTunes.
However - I'm worried that when he connects to iTunes for the 1st time he will have the iPad wiped clean by the empty iTunes session.
I have searched high and low but can't find a reassuring set of steps to follow.
Hence I would be very grateful to anyone who can point to complete, thorough online instructions, or offer them yourself, on what _precisely_ I must do to get his iPad synced to a new iTunes session for the very first time, without loosing the iPad content.
We need to upgrade the OS badly (its the OS released from the shop purchase).

PS: Apple - if you readt this - iTunes and syncing is a very tricky to handle, with potential dire consequences if you do it wrong even once. At a minimum, please offer greater felxibility and more detailed tutorials across various troubleshooting scenarios such as mineThank you both for your time and responses
roaminggnome - my nephew was 10 when he got it and his family are not particularly computer savy. It didn't occur to them that syncing was such a priority. Thanks for the pointer to Apple feedback - I'll post my suggestion to them (I'm sure they've received it many times before!)

I have an Apple ID and trying to sign in for the 1st time on iTunes. When I do, I get the message: "This Apple ID has not been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information." When I do, it brings me to the same AppleID login window, and I get stuck in the same loop. I never get to the following screen to enter my account info. What's going on?? This is MADDENING!

I got the new iPhone5 back in Dec, I hooked it up to my computer for the 1st time this wk. It deleted all new data added since Dec (notes,contacts,texts,pics, info added to apps) and reverted back to all my old data (literally uploaded all of my old texts and 1400 old pics and deleted anything new). How can I retrieve all the lost data?? Please help!!

I am encountering the error M8035 (" No Suitable Items found for PO ") while I am doing MIRO for the 1st time against service POs (item cat - D) in a company code.
in OMSY the period opened for the company code is : Current 06 2014 previous 05 2014
This was done because Go Live date for the new company code is 01.06.2014.
I am doing test in the test client now.
I have created a vendor on today's date
I have created a service PO on today's date (GR, GR Bsd IV, IR, Serv Bsd IV - these indicators are marked in the PO)
I have created service entry sheet on today's date (acc assignment - K, G/L a/c was determined from the Material Group maintained in the PO)
I have accepted the service entry sheet on 04.05.2014 (FI doc posted against the matl doc - KBS to WRX on 04.05.2014)
I am trying to do the MIRO in the same company code on 04.05.2014.
While I am putting the PO and its line item in MIRO item and pressing enter system shows the above info msg and nothings is appearing in MIRO item.
I have tried to do MIRO against service entry sheet also - same things happened.
I have tried selecting Goods Service Item+planned del cost in MIRO - nothing changed.
I have tried posting MIRO against a non service PO (acc assgnment K, Item cat - BLANK) after doing MIGO in the same company code in the same date- PO is appearing in that case.
FI people are able to post FB60 manually for the vendor I am using in the PO - so there is no problem in the vendor also.
I have gone through the scn post related with the topic, unfortunately none of them solved my problem.

'BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE' takes more time for creating material document for the 1st time
Hi Experts,
I am doing goods movement using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE in my custom code.
Then there is some functional configuration such that, material documents and TR and TO are getting created.
Now I need to get TO and TR numbers from LTAK table passing material documnt number and year, which I got from above used BAPI.
The problem I am facing is very strange.
Only for the 1st time, I am not finding TR and TO values in LTAK table. And subsequent runs I get entries in LTAK in there is a wait time of 5 seconds after bapi call.
I have found 'BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE' takes more time for creating material document with similar issue, but no solution or explanation.
Note 838036 says something similar, but it seems obsolete.
Kindly share your expertise and opinions.

The other idea is not to commit each call, but executing commit of packages e.g. after 1000 BAPI calls.
But otherwise, I am afraid you can not do a lot about performance of standard BAPI. Maybe there is some customer enhancement which is taking too long inside the BAPI, but this has to be analysed by you. To analyse performance, just execute your program via tr. SE30.

What use would there be for the 1st generation time capsule if I bought a new ac time capsule?
I just bought hte new ac time capsule (TC), and was using the 1st generation one at home.
=> I use now the old TC as an wifi extender and as a shared hard disk for family

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Does anyone know how to reset your security questions?? I loaded an itunes gift card on new ipod but when trying to make a purchase, itunes is asking us the incorrect security questions?! (for 1st time purchase) I know the questions are not what I chose because I wrote the questions & answers down when setting up the ipod. Any ideas??!!!

Another user had success doing the following:
I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
"done", in the upper right corner
c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
security questions.
d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

Should I use time machine, CCC or a bootable installer for OS X Yosemite
I am about to change my mid-2010 MBP and install a Samsung 850 pro. I have Yosemite (by the way: Yosemite performance is good, no slowness; hdd filled only 50%) - I have VPN Tracker and Microsoft Remote Desktop as main applications at the moment. I will also use it for itunes.
I have made a backup on time machine.
The process instructions on the net vary:
1) After replacing the HDD with the SSD, press down Command + R, this opens boot utility of Yosemite; then with disk utility format the SSD as MacOs ext journal. then: Back-up from time machine.
2) OR: Use Carbon Copy Cloner. Connect the SSD on a USB tray (I have one) and commence from there before installing. On re
3) OR: Should I first - Create a bootable installer for OS X Yosemite; the instruction says: Download the OS X Installer app from the Mac App Store. But I can't find it. And then clone as Kappy describes.

The simplest way of installing a new storage device is to connect it to the MBP via USB and then format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility>Erase.
Then use CCC or Disk Utility>Restore to copy the data to the SSD from the internal HDD.
Then test to see if the external SSD will boot the MBP. If so, make the physical swap.

Just got my new Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1UE turned it on for 1st time and went through the internet set up, account set up etc. Then it said it was loading software and please wait do not turn off.

Well, during the first configuration, the Toshiba image has to be setup and all necessary updates has to be downloaded and installed. This takes time.
However, it could be possible that the system would not response anymore and in such case you should simply power OFF the notebook and should reboot it again.
