1st time user; How do I categorize my music in itunes so that-..?

I never used iTunes before so please forgive me.
I am attempting to categorize my music in iTunes by genre so when I fill my ipod nano it will listed by genre, however I am having difficulties with iTunes.
I thought it was as simple as creating a folder under playlist and coping the appropriate songs to that folder following the simple click & drag method. That does not work.
Can I not caregorize my music?

Hi, perhaps I'm missing something from the replies/question, but you don't need playlists to categorise music into genres...
My simple reply (from my simple brain) is that within the music library in iTunes, highlight the songs you want within a particular genre and 'right click' select 'Get Info' - set the genre (and only the genre, ie: if you were to change the title whilst you have a group of songs highlighted it will change them all to be the same name!). Genre will sync automatically into your iPod when you next connect assuming you sync automatically - and you will be able to see tracks listed under genres...

Have you checked the account's purchase history to see if anything could have used up the balance : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support ?
If there aren't any purchases then try logging out and back into the account (e.g. on your iPad tap on your id in Settings > Stores and then log back in) and see if a balance then shows on it. My account's balance shows at the top right of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, by clicking on my name towards the top right of the iTunes screen, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my iPad devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to)

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases. Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. If you can't get it downloaded, contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form linked from the bottom of their Download FAQ web page and ask them if they'll remove the item from your queue for you.

Are you wanting to add music to an iTunes library on another computer? That shouldn't be a problem. Just import it or rip the same way you would on your iTunes library on your home PC.

The only supported method to get media onto an iDevice is via iTunes. Read the User's Guide it will describe how to do this in detail.
iCloud does not put media on the device, but using iTunes Match and iCloud it is possible to have access to all media that exists on your computer, but only when the device has Internet access. It will not load media onto the device.
Use of 3rd party tools to transfer files to the device is not supported.

You have to be in a country, and have a billing address in that country, to download from its store. You can try requesting that the app be added to the Slovenia store, but unless the app's developer/rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you are returning to an old iPhone that has been erased and you would like to set it up as a new device without restoring from a backup which would affect the name of your iPhone, as well as the contents therein. Basically, it seems like you may be stuck on a screen that is asking if you would like to restore your device from the backup that is filed under the name of your new iPhone, or if you would like to set up the device as a new device. I would suggest that you set it up as a new device to achieve your desired results.

You must "Add" the tracks to your library. Select Add to Library from iTunes' File menu. Select your downloaded track(s) then click on the Open button in the file dialog. Once added to the library you can select and sync them in the Music configuration tab in the iTunes main window for your device.

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes.
