1x4gb ram stick only, in TX2-1015ea, possible?

My tx2-1015ea's top memory slot is not functioning, is it possible to utilize/completely utilize a 4gb ram stick in the bottom slot alone? I know the laptop can use upto 4gb ram max but I'm not sure if it specifically has to be distributed (eg:- 2x2gb).

After RAM upgrade on Satellite L30-10S only one RAM stick is recognized

I just added an 1GB Crucial Ram stick into the L30-10S (PSL33E), but only the 1GB get recognized, the Hyundai stick (512MB), which was supplied with the laptop, isn't been used by the system anymore.
I tried switch around, but I can only get 1 RAM stick to work at the time, either 1GB, when both rams are placed in the slots or if only the 1GB is installed or 512MB when I leave the 1GB out.
Did anyone actually managed to get 2 Stick running simultaneously, on this system?
BTW CPU-z did recognize both sticks and reports correctly 1536MB, the BIOS however only 1GB, actually less, since some is taking by the graphics card.
The BIOS version on my system is V2.80, dated 03/05/2007 and both memory are the same speed PC2-4200.

L30 series supports memory up to 2gb, and if you use memory from a reliable brand, you'll have no (compatibility) problem. Maybe Crucial ram is not the best choice. As I see all those guys have problem with Crucial ram. Something's wrong with it...
And don't forget something: opening a new topic won't help you, if nobody can solve the problem in another topics...
PS: Try Kingmax, Kingston, Samsung, Corsair modules. I never had problem with those brands.

Z77A-G45: XMP works with one and only one ram stick.

I am having a problem when using XMP with two ram sticks. One and only one ram stick works fine. Here is the story.
I recently update my build with a set of G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2133. It had one Kingston 4GB 1333 stick in the past.
The new rams work fine at 1600 if I don't use XMP profile. However, every time when I load XMP, it fails to post. The power goes on for one or two seconds then goes off; then it restarts after a few seconds and fail again. This cycle goes on and on until occasionally it loads the bios and says OC setting failed and click F1 to setup.
I thought maybe the rams were bad so I unpluged one stick, then it started and worked perfectly. I tried either sticks with all the slots. If only one stick plugs in any slot, it always works with XMP; if both two sticks plug in, whatever combination of slots I use, it failed to start.
Does anyone have a clue about this?

Due to most likely non standard SPD profiles, they probably need to be manually set up. That or the CPU IMC is weak. Some of the Beta UEFI/BIOS revisions may be available that addresses problems with this RAM. The change logs might indicate such. There are several variations of G45, so make sure the one I linked is the right one;

P67A-GD65B3 won't post with more than 2 RAM sticks/P

Issue is as stated. On this board the dimm slots are listed as 1,2,3,4 (as marked on motherboard). The computer will consistently power cycle (not even post) when RAM is in any dual channel configuration. I've tried 4 sticks of memory (2 separate orders of 2x4GB). All RAM sticks work in non-dual channel mode. I've modified the voltage to 1.65. I've verified the timings are correct at 8-8-8-24. I've inserted 1 stick at a time, let boot all the way to windows, and inserted the next stick. I tried the inserting 1 at a time numerous different ways. Anything else I may have missed? If not, I guess its RMA time.

Check with G.Skill. I believe they only warranty & suggest one kit being installed. Differences in batches are noted as the excuse if memory serves me. UEFI/BIOS version 1.D was released by MSI to accomodate the non standard SPD profile programming, since a newer one, 1.E is installed, it rules a problem there out. It's also possible the RAM requires X.M.P. to be enabled to make them work correctly. Again, G.Skill is going to be the best source for advice on how to get their product to work.

8GB of RAM Installed, only 4GB detected/used by BIOS/Windows 7 (with P67A-GD55)

Let me start off by saying that I'm not very good with computers. At all. I know a little bit about them, but I am by no means an expert. That said, I have 8GB of RAM installed on my motherboard, spread out across 4 sticks. However, upon looking at my BIOS and my Windows Resource Monitor, it declares that I only have 4GB of RAM installed and usable. This is what I know so far:
- This issue has been prevalent as long as I've had my computer, and by extension my motherboard and my RAM sticks, so this issue isn't recent.
- I do have a 64bit version of Windows 7. I've checked and double-checked, and I'm 99.5% positive that it is.
- Speccy, a 3rd party program designed for checking system specs, declares that I do, in fact, have 8GB installed.
- I don't think that the RAM is bad because the BIOS still does pick up on different statistics of the RAM that are in the slots; it just fails to register the actual fact that they're there.
System Specs:
OS: Windows 7 64bit SP1
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz
RAM: Patriot PSD32G133K 4x2GB DDR3 @ 498MHz
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD55 P67 LGA 1155
HDD: 977GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD103SJ ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drive: LG DVDRAM GH24NS50 ATA Device
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB VRAM
PSU: Cooler Master 750 Watt
BIOS Version: E7681IMS V1.5
Now this is where it gets interesting: My motherboard has 4 DIMM slots for the RAM, and the motherboard (I assume by default) works in dual-channel mode. This means that DIMM 1 and 3 work together and so do DIMM 2 and 4, which most of you probably understand. However, filling up all 4 slots only gives me half the RAM. So I remove the RAM from slots 2 and 4, and it results in all 4GB of RAM being detected. Then, I add in each other RAM stick one at a time, and it fails to register both. So I remove the RAM from slots 1 and 3, and keep the RAM from slots 2 and 4, and it ends up in all 4GB being registered.
I feel like the answer should be directly in front of me, but from endless Google searches and posts on other forums, I have ended up at a dead end. I'm completely clueless, so I could really use some help.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

PowerMac DP G4 Won't Boot With All RAM Sticks Installed

A few weeks ago, my 800 MHz dual-processor G4 started having frequent kernel panics. I tried all sorts of things, including changing the PRAM battery, resetting the firmware, and resetting the PMU. Then, one day, it would only power up but not boot, so I took it in for repairs.
The shop I took it to determined that the logic board was malfunctioning and replaced it. The computer no longer has any kernel panics.
The machine was designed for three 500 MB RAM sticks, which is what it had ever since I bought it over five years ago. Now, apparently, it won't boot with the last one installed, though it will with two. The shop replaced the new logic board and and even swapped RAM, but the problem still persists. Neither the power supply nor the hard drive appear to be malfunctioning.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the following with one 512MB RAM stick:
1. Palce it in the first RAM slot. Does the Mac boot?
2. If so, remove the stick & place it in the second RAM slot. Does it boot?
3. If so, remove the stick & place it in the third RAM slot. Does it boot?
The results of this test should reveal (1) if the stick boots in one or more RAM slots, the RAM is good and (2) if it fails to boot in a RAM slot, there is a problem with that slot.
Do this with each of the tree RAM sticks & post back the results.
When the logic board was replaced, was the firmware updated to be compliant with OS X. (Note - The firmware is installed on a chip on the logic board.) Check your Mac's firmware (Boot ROM version) version. Mac OS X: Available firmware updates

Macbook White 2.16GHz (A1185) RAM stick question

Hi.
I'm using Macbook White C2D 2.16GHz (A1185).
Now my ram total is 4GB.Is it possible if i took out one ram and replace it with 4GB single stick ?
So i would have 4GB + 2GB = 6GB of ram.i cant find any documentation regarding maximum RAM limitation for my Macbook.

Well, I just installed a 2GB RAM stick on my Mac Core Duo, but people said I should get 2x1GB instead, so should I sent it back and get one? Cause it wont boot with a 2GB stick and a 512 stick in the other slot.

Your not lucky. Your sig says you have a C2D. They will hold 4 GB but only use 3 GB so doing what you did gave results that would be expected. For those of us that have a CD we are stuck with 2 GB.

the computer has beem working for years after my 1st ram removal; but i may have pushed them back too hard. i did pull firmly - tried pulling up slightly; tried tugging on the sides of the stick; pulling in pulses. the only thing i have not tried is using needle nose plyers with protection on the tab film itself.
have you had the pulling harder ever work? or break the tab?

MSI Z87-G45 external test build - no flash screen with 2 G.Skill Ram sticks

Hi guys this is my first build and I'm encountering this issue on my test build.
I'm using MSI Z87-G45 MoBo, G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory, i5 4670k
RAM is only working one at a time. Both sticks work. They do not work alone in DIMM 3 or DIMM 4.
Any advice on what to do? could it be speeds/timing of the ram? this is my first build so any help is greatly appreciated!
I see that G.Skill sticky post, but since this is a test build outside of the case I don't have a keyboard attached or really any knowledge of how to alter the BIOS.

One or the other. CPU can be ruled out if you know someone who can test it for you on another known working board. That leaves the mainboard as faulty. You could try a PSU power cord removed, battery removed for a short time, clear CMOS and try again with a RAM stick in DIMM2.

Can I Buy A Compatible RAM Stick At An Apple Store?

OK So I've been only once to an Apple store, and I bought my MBP there. I was a rookie back then and didn't bother to look around for RAM sticks. But now that I'm getting Leopard I want to upgrade my RAM, but it seems, from what I've read in these boards, that only certain brands and models work with the MBP. Do Apple Stores sell compatible RAM sticks?
I would go to check, but there's no Apple Store in my city. I'm going to a city that has an Apple Store in January, though, so I just want to know.

Seriously, depending on what you want, compare the cost at the Apple Store with Crucial.com
Crucial ram is Micron ram Crucial is a division of Micron. Micron is one of the manufacturers of ram Apple use. Some of the same chips Apple supply for a fraction of the cost (Apple also use other suppliers).
You don't say how much ram you want or what machine you have. If you post back, I can provide some recommendations that are cheaper, with a lifetime warranty and the EXACT ram supplied by Apple. Apple have never been competitive in supplying ram and it is very cheap at the moment.

Mixing ram sticks

Tricky question to ask.
As you can see in my specs, I've 512 Mb Kingston DDR Ram pc 3200.... and an nForce2 mobo. Which may seem not so nice a mix, but it's working fair.
The point is that I'd like to have 1 Gb ram and this is troubling me a little. Mixing memories is bad, buying another 512 Mb Kingston is worse, buying 1 Gb of supported Corsair, Geil, Mushkin, whatever is good, but at present I cannot afford it. A friend of mine has just bought a new pc and he can give me his old Corsair stick (see below):

I'd like to test it on my mobo, just to make a test (and if it works I'll be happy for a while).
As for now I'm pretty concerned by one issue: my Kingston stick works at 2.6 V, while the Corsair one is supposed to work at 2.5... does it mean troubles, tears and bad dreams? Apart the well known compatibility issues, may I risk to provoke any damage by mixing 2.5 V and 2.6 V ram sticks?

Ok about the vdimm but not about the compatibility/stability, you must try it first for stability. If it's not stable, it's not because the vdimm but it's chip (different chip/manufacturer sometimes could lead to instability).

P35 Neo-FI memory problem with 4 ram sticks

I have a problem to get my 4 ram sticks to work. a1 and a2 works but soon as i put another ram in to motherboard example to b1 or b2 it wont post anything on the screen. I know that my 4 rams works ok and i dont have any problem with them. I have also tryied to turn up the dimm voltage but with out luck. Please help me!

I'm not sure if the board can directly support 8GB instantly, which may also explain that it can run 4GB without a hitch.

Macbook pro won't boot with two new 4GB RAM sticks.

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro. It came with two 2GB RAM sticks. After downloading Lion, my computer started to get sluggish so I thought I would upgrade the ram. I bought two 4GB Corsair RAM sticks and tried to install them. My computer will boot up if I install one of the new 4GB sticks and leave an old 2GB stick; but it won't boot with both of the new 4GB sticks. Any ideas?

Late 2008 Macbooks uses DDR3 1066MHz 204 PIN.
Late 2011 Macbooks uses DDR3 1333MHz 204 PIN.
