1Z0-058: Practice exams?

Hi everyone
I'm currently revising for the 11.2 RAC expert exam (1Z0-058)
Usually I like to work through some practice tests alongside the text books - I used to use Self Test Software - but for this exam I can't find any that I trust.
There aren't even any sample questions on Oracle's website! (eg for the R1 exam: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=303&p_certName=SQ1Z0_048)
Can anyone recommend a good company for practice tests for this exam? Or where I can find any official Oracle sample questions?
NOTE: I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AND NOR AM I INTERESTED IN DUMPS OR CHEATS
Any info would be greatly appreciated

RupAbout the only place I know of that is currently certification safe is ucertify.
If you use them you must:-
(a) Check yourself regularly on www.cerguard.com that their site remains braindump free
(b) Be prepared that the quality may be low to extremely low ... but at least they are probably trying to use original questions.
(c) Be prepared to be disappointed, prehaps extremely so
(d) However it may expose some areas you are weak on ... and it indicate off topic subjects that are irrelevant.
It probably actually quite hard and expensive to produce good practice tests .... thats probably why Kaplan ttake their time to produce any (and even there the odd issue can arise)
Ucertify aim at a different market by trying to be quicker to get an exam out ... but at possibly thenexpense of qualtiy ... though they do ask for feedback so practice test quality might improve with time.
- Please note I am not linked to Ucertifiy ... but if I dont mention them then many people head towards braindump site search for what it not there.
... All this is my opinion only ... an yif I was to reanswer the question I'd proably write it differently. Its also late for me and I and too tired to proof read.
I suggest taking careful looks at the topics and not relying too much on practice tests for this one though
... Good Luck.

  • 1z0-47 Practice Exam or Exam Engine

    Hello,
I usually use the recommended preparation exam engine that is recommended by Oracle but it looks like they do not have one for 1z0-47. I was wondering if anyone know of a good practice exam? Thank you.

If you think you've found something and you feel you cannot stay away from it check it on [www.certguard.com] first.
but it looks like they do not have one for 1z0-47. I was wondering if anyone know of a good practice exam? Thank you.Agreed. I have not seen an authorized one for 1z0-047 either.
The easy option is to wait until the following book is published:
ISBN: 978-0071614214: OCA Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-047 (Hardcover) is scheduled for Publiction 30 oct 2009 (may slip or never happen).
But if you cant wait ...
..... this is an 'Expert' exam with its own certificate, so you should expect to do a little work yourself (or take up oracle training).
I see you've newly (re)registered - having got to where you're at I assume thats due to change of email address. But just in case you are new:
Please read the forum faq, forum blog, be aware of http://www.oracle.com/education/certification and ensure you have accessed exam topics. Checkout refereces to 1z0-047 in this forum and decide which are relevant.
Obviously [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1080544&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_047] Exam objective for 1z0-047 is the key document.
Exam Topics(objectives) are key, and best to base your study arround them (most certification exam books now use that layout).
You can probably find out about exams topics you do not know from this book (or the oracle online manuals):
    - ISBN: 978-0-07-149850-0 Oracle Data 11g SQL
It possible you may find the following book helpful (and possibly not!), and its possilble you would find it takes you places you didnt need to study, and it certainly wont be sufficent in itself:
    - ISBN-13: 978-0071597869: OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051

  • Practice Exam for 1z0-050

    Hi,
I am preparing for 1z0-050 exam to get 11g OCP. I am thinking of buying 'Transcender' - 1z0-050 Practice Exam.
Has anyone used these practice exams and Flash Cards from Transcender for 1z0-050? If yes, do you recommend the material from Transcender?
I have used the Transcender practice exams for 042, 043 and 047 in the past and I found them very useful.
However for all those exams I used a very good Study Guide to supplement the Practice exams.
For 050 exam, based on the Web Search there are only 2 books, Sam Alapati and Freeman. Reviews for both the books are not that great.
Looks like Sam Alapati book has lot of errors.
Can someone please post there experience regarding the Transcender practice exam for 1z0-050?
    Thanks in advance.

I used a practice test from SelfTest Software, which is produced by the same company, Kaplan. I thought their practice test for that exam was very good. I only have one complaint: Some of their referenced materials (websites, etc) were illegal materials found on sites like docstoc. I hope they've removed those. Anyway, I also had heard that Alapati's book was not so good, but it was the only book I used. When I heard that, I decided to glean through the book quickly & try to learn elsewhere. This site is helpful:

  • Practice exam for 1Z0-146

    Hi,
I was actually looking out for some good practice exams before i gave the actual 1Z0-146. It will be of great help if anyone can guide me about it.
    Thanks.

Thanks. As you probably noticed the authorized exam provider (Kaplan IT trading as Transcender and SelfTestSoftware) do not currently appear to provide a test for 1z0-146
Most, if not all, practice exams you will see by searching on the web are unauthorised training material:
    See: [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
Certguard will show that these are typically braindump websites [http://www.certguard.com] .... really you should only consider sites that are guarenteed non braindump.
There are a few sample questions (10) with the exam topics (I call these the beta exam rejects).
Basically you are your own with this. But at east by the time you are taking 1z0-146 you will have taken and passed 2 certiifcation exams at least anyway.

  • Exam 1Z0-058

    Hi,
i want to do 1Z0-058 exam.
I've a doc "Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g: Manage Clusterware and ASM".
Can anyone indicate me where i can study RAC database part?
    Tnx

I need a book to prepare me for the 058.I do not believe that a 3rd-party book for that test exists yet. Until one does, your options to study for the test are to either take the Oracle RAC training (which is closely geared to the test... or vice versa), or use the Oracle Education topics for the exam as a checklist for looking information up in the manual. Real-world knowledge of the subject is of course extremely valuable in taking the exam but it isn't really what they test. It can't be, because there's no way to create a test like that. Certification exams tend to test documented facts. In the real world you may or may not do things the way the documentation says you should. If a question is asked and your answer matches how you do something, but not how the book says to do it, then you'll miss the question.
I write certification guides, but I have not yet done one for 058 (it's on the list, but not in my next five targets) or I could give more specifics on which manuals had the most for the exam. The 2-day is useful because in a single source it will tend to have a broad overview of the 'important' (as defined by Oracle) facets of RAC. This also tends to be what is in the certification exams. If you already know RAC reasonably well, then you might skip that book entirely and go to the individual guides. 95% or better of what is in the exam is likely to be answered in one of the following three manuals:
Real Application Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide
    Clusterware Administration and Deployment Guide
    Automatic Storage Management Administrator's Guide
    All are available here: http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/portal.portal_db?selected=16&frame=

  • 1Z0-058 Exam

    Hello All -
I am preparing for 1Z0 058 exam . I see that it has two sections and 77 questions .
    My question is that
    a) Is it 77 questions per each section ?
    b) If it is for 77 questions ( total ) , then do we know if how many questions are from each sections ( percentage wise) .
    Thanks in advance.

    user11142794 wrote:
    a) Is it 77 questions per each section ?Nope -- 77 total. This is a really good thing, because if there were 154 questions to answer in 105 minutes, you'd have just 41 seconds per question to answer them all.
    b) If it is for 77 questions ( total ) , then do we know if how many questions are from each sections ( percentage wise) . OE doesn't provide that information. However, there are 47 Grid Infrastructure: Clusterware and ASM topics and 32 RAC topics. With 79 topics and 77 questions, you can expect the two sections to split out pretty close to the topic percentages, so figure about 60% of the test (46 questions) being about Clusterware and 40% (31 questions) being about RAC and you won't be far off.

  • Wich Practice exams are good for 1z0-042??

Transcender and Selftestsoftware seems to be the same exam ?? I download the demos and they seems too much like.
I bought Transcender, but I want one more practice exam to test. Anyone know good practice exams that I can buy ??
Anyone knows if Ucertify or Measureup is good ?

    That's true,
but unfortunately when you 'do' the real exam you'll see how much of those testking questions are the same or almost the same like the questions from real exam, at least I found it that way...
I think that the best and the most effective thing is to give yourself a good concentrate reading the exam oriented books or subject oriented books combined with the practice on a real database.
After doing this for some time ,this aproach would definitly give You a big ROI for the efforts you put in exam preparation,
If not in a view of passing the exam, then in a view of valuable knowledge of topics covered by that exam.

I found three books which I think good for the prep

OCP Oracle Database 11g Administration II Exam Guide (Administration II Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-053))

    Link:http://www.mhprofessional.com/product.php?cat=112&isbn=0071597867&cat=112
Please what do you think ?I dont know what your background is, but you would probably need to organise some training and background as well.
You also need to to attend and get verified Oracle approved training to achieve DBA OCP
.... One step at a time though, and OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-051) is good value for low investment. But you may need to checkout other training.
The training link mentioned in an earlier post link may or may not be effective, however I do not believe it covers the oracle verified training pre-req to achieve DBA OCP.
Worth checking https://workforce.oracle.com/pls/wdp/new_home.main to see if there is cheap (not always best quality) training available near you.

  • Looking for authorized 1Z0-514 practice questions

I'm studying for the 1Z0-514 - Oracle Database 11g Essentials exam. I have gone through all of the tutorials in the 11g 2-day DBA manual and Oracle By Example supplement. I think I'm ready but would like some practice questions to test myself. According to http://www.certguard.com/, every hit on Google for "1Z0-514" is a braindump. That site also lists a number of reputable sites for practice exams, although none of them includes 1Z0-514.
Q1: Does anyone know of a verified source of legitimate 1Z0-514 practice questions?
Q2: Does anyone know how relevant OCA practice exams (1Z0-052) would be for 1Z0-514? They seem to have a lot of common ground.

Hi, I had the same problem you are having now a few months ago, after studying the 11g 2-day DBA manual I couldn't find any authorized practice questions.
I ended up going through OCA books and practice questions. I advise you use them, the 1z0-052 and 1z0-514 exams cover very similar topics.

ThanksI expect you've al;ready managed to navigate to here where the authorized practice exams are found
    [http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/sts.html]
And found none (You could visit the vendors sie which may be marginally more up to date).
You may see some adverised on the web.
As far as I can tell these are all (or almost all) unauthorized training material and using them get get any results nullified and a ban from taking futher exams.
    (I check these with [http://www.certguard.com] )
    See [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
So you will really have to make do with the sample questions on the exam topics pages in terms of practice questions.

  • Sql practice exams, tests, help!

    Hello,
Does anyone have practice questions for 1Z0-001 SQL test (OCP) ? If you have, can you send me it to the following e-mail: [email protected] !
    Any help would be great!
    thank you,

    Hi,
Methink you'll be getting more than just exam questions on your email from now on.
Have you googled for '1Z0-001'? I get lots of hits for practice exams. Of course, you'll have to pay for them. But since you're doing an OCP you're prepared to pay anyway.
    Cheers,

  • More practice exams?

Are there any other legitimate practice exam sources other than Trancender and Self Test Software? These two companies are essentially the same company both owned by Kalplan IT. Many of their test questions are the same so buying both exams is useless. I don't want to use any illegal brain dumps but there must be another legitimate source for practice exams. I'm looking to take exam 1Z0-052 and I'd like to find some more practice questions.

They can sometimes be quick to market, though my feeling is they are not the same quality as transcender/Selftestsoftware/Kaplan. However I have hear some say they give useful test coverage and may identify weak areas.
The braindump suppliers out there use many tricks of spoof sites so it is really important to ensure any supplier you use are safe and remain safe (This means http://www.certguard.com/ show then as positively vetted and that they remain postively vetted).
For the exams you mention The associated Sybex and Oracle Press Books contain a number of questions at end of chapter and end of book on CDROM, used wisely these should be sufficient.
I must admit myself I tend to view exam questions as a scarce resource to be used wisely. From once you have seen the question is value is decreased the second time. I therefore tend to leave any sample exam questions as late in the study cycle as possible; that way they help identify any gaps. I also avoid taking sample questions when I have studied the material that day. However i do know some people take other approaches, and they may reach standard quicker that way (or they may run out of sample exam questions first).
Of course for many exams these sample questions are simply not available!
Please beware of spammers / braindump question tagging onto this thread. This is the sort of thread they love to jump onto.

  • Practice exams for 'Intro to Oracle9i SQL'

    Hi,
I just finished the 'Introduction to Oracle9i SQL' book
and was hoping if anyone knows of any places where I may
be able to find some practice exams (1Z0-007)?
Or if anyone has any practice exams for the Oracle9i
DBA track that they could send me would be greatly
appreciated! My email address is: rwd1971(at)hotmail.com
    Thanks IA,
    Rick.
ps-I have already done the practice exams from Oracle.com

You can do a google search and download practice exams (they are generally text files) You will find a lot of questions in the exam from these practice exams.
PS:Sybex has a good book and practice test for 1Z0-007. I would definitely recommend it over Oracle Press 1Z0-007(author: Marisetti)

  • Finished taking Sprinkler CLD Practice Exam

I am planning on taking my CLD this coming week, and just finished taking this practice exam. Since I studied the car wash and ATM solutions I decided to go for the Sprinkler practie exam. The "Sprinkler CLD.zip" file is the results of 4 dedicated hours of my Saturday.
I ran the VI analyzer on all VIs and CTLs and I'm not impressed with myself. Could somebody tell me how they think I would score?
I looked at the solution for the Sprinkler.vi and it's clear that my approach is nothing like the solution from NI. This could be a good or a very bad thing.
It appears quick comments could mean alot if the graders depend heavily on the VI Analyzer.  It appears that I should have at least two comments in each VI, and not only have the documentation section filled in the VI but the same for controls.
It's clear that I missed some wires when I resized my case select boxes.
After finishing the exam and then looking back i see there is a possible lock out condition on initialization that would prevent the VI from reading the CSV file. I shouldn't have created a  "READ CSV" State. If i would have placed the "READ CSV FILE" inside the "Power Up Configuration" state there would be no issues. I should have restarted labview in my last hour.  If the VI starts up with the Water Pressure above 50% and No Rain then the CSV file is read and there is no problem. This would have been an obvious mistake had I restarted labview.
I realize that I missed some of the specifications. For example if it starts raining during a sequence it is suppose to restart the sequence, not pause it.
There are few comments in the code. I usually add many comments to my code, but this is my first time using a simple state engine.
At work I have a large infrastructure already in place complete with error handling and task management.  I am also use to working on multiple monitors. During the test I only used one. Even if I didn’t pass this practice exam at least having a dry run outside my normal work condition was very good practice.
I spent time practicing earlier and can build the Timer.VI in about 8 minutes. A functional global timer seems to be a common theme in the practice exams.
Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Do you think I would have passed the CLD exam with this test?
    Comments?

There are a lot of good things in your code, you are nearly there. I haven't run your code, so this is more style and documentation comments.
If I were you, I would concentrate on the following:
Wire Error through all your subVI's put your subvi code in an error/no error case structure. If you had done that, you didn't need the flat sequence structure in your code.
You haven't even wired error to the subvi's with error terminals, this will cost you points.
Label any constants on the block diagram.
Brief description of Algorithm on each VI block diagram.
You could have avoided using local variables, for example Run Selector as this control is available in the cluster. So just a unbundle by name would have given you the value of that control. If you do use them, then make sure you state why (for example efficiency etc.) in a block diagram comment.
Some subVis are missing VI documentation, this wont be taken lightly.
Using default value when unwired (for your while loop stop) is not recommended. This was specifically discussed during a CLD preparation class I attended not so long ago.
While icons are pretty, I wouldn't waste time trying to find glyphs for your subvi's just consistent text based icon scheme is perfectly acceptable. You can do this if you do have extra time, it wont fetch your extra points though.
LabVIEW 2012 has sub diagram labels, you can enable this by default in Tools>>Options, adding comments in each of the cases is recommended.
The main thing is time management and make sure you read other posts/blogs on CLD. I would also recommend quick drop, if you haven't started using this it may not be a good idea to do so now for your exam next week. But in general it is very useful and saves time.
    Hope this helps.
