1z0-060 vs 1z0-067

Hi,
I am a Oracle 9i OCP and deciding to take upgrade exam to Oracle 12c.
Can someone please advice me which exam I should take 1Z0-060 or 1Z0-067 ?
Also I don not find any book on 1Z0-67 in the market but both exams seems to be priced as same.
In case I need to sit for the 1Z0-067 exam , can I use the 1Z0-060 study material to prepare?
Lastly, please let me know if both the certification will give the same title '12c OCP'
Thank you

Can someone please advice me which exam I should take 1Z0-060 or 1Z0-067 ?
An Oracle 9i OCA would take 1Z0-067 to become an Oracle 12c OCP.
An Oracle 9i OCP would take 1Z0-060 to become an Oracle 12c OCP.
The end certification is the same for both exams.  1Z0-067 contains a lot more topics because it is intended to simultaneously jump releases and upgrade credentials from OCA -> OCP.
Also I don not find any book on 1Z0-67 in the market but both exams seems to be priced as same.

There is currently no third-party study materials out for 1Z0-067.  I have a study guide largely completed, but I likely will not publish it until 1Z0-067 is in full production. In any event, since you indicated you are an OCP, the correct test for you is 1Z0-060, so the point is moot. You can fund links to study materials for both at the exam details page of my site:

    I have appeared "Exam 1Z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL" on 2008. After that I was
    unable to appear other exams related to Oracle certification. Now if I appear
    "Oracle Database 10g: Administration I 1Z0-042", then will I be able to get
    Oracle Certified Associate certificate.

    To my Pompey English 'Appear' means 'To turn up for'.  If I take 'appear' to mean 'pass' then I will answer that:

    Your 1z0-007 will count as a qualifying exam for SQL ... reference: https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_05
    You are strongly advised to consider the implications of the upcoming 10g exam retirements ... https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1060_01
    If particular if you are intending to submit 10g training towards DBA OCP training that training will only count towards a 10g DBA OCP certification; the 1z0-043 needing to be passed by the march cutoff date in 2015.  If you get 10g DBA OCA and then need to achieve DBA certification via 1z0-34/1z0-067 you will need to satisfy the training requirement for those exams; which may mean you might need to attend additional training.

  • 1z1-067 and 1z1-034 betas seem to be extended to 20th december

    Just a comment really, pearson vue scheduling seems to indicate these betas are extend to approx 19/20 december; I ancitpate the certification programs' website page will follow.  (OF courser Oracle will retain the right to terminate the beta's on 25th october or whenever they wish ... a beta extension on Pearson VUE isn;t totally authoritive but it is very hard to back out!).  1z0-067 is a massive exam.  And just to think at the UKOUG DB SIG yesterday I said the 1z0-067 ends 25 october and not to bother!  ( Mind you preparation for 1z0-067 is not be be undertaken lightly because of its length).
    ( Not all beta's extend like this .. some do sometimes).

    You are correct - these have recently been extended to Dec 20.

  • Path to Oracle 12c Database OCP

    Any path to Oracle 12c Database OCP from 11g OCA? If so, which exam number?
    Thanks!

    Even if you were to go from 11g OCA to 11g OCP, you need to provide Oracle evidence of attending at least 1 of the qualifying Instructor-Led Training classes.

    Reading the original posters answer i read the likely senario was that he already had 11g DBA OCP eligible training but did not have 12c DBA OCP eligible training; and felt it would unlikely to be in budget.  ( Of course some of the 12c DBA OCP eligible training is a two day course .... approximately less than half the cost of 5 day courses ... sould that help).
    And 1z0-053 + 1z0-060 is an alternative to 1z0-067 from his situation.
    Therefore 12c DBA OCP should not be beyond his grasp ( assuming he can pass the exam(s)).

  • To upgrade to OCP Solaris 11 Path

    I have 2 question?
    I have Oracle Solaris Certified Associate Exam 1Z0-876 cerfitifcate
    1, Can I get the Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator Certification
    after I pass Exam
    Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator Certified Professional Exam, Part II 1Z0-878
    2, To upgrade to Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris 11 System Administrator Certification.
    A required step 1 - Prior Certification Requirements
    Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version
    What is version incluclued? Is my 1Z0-876 cerfitifcate is qualified?

    You look at the tab Upgrades:
    There are 2 steps:
    Step 1 - Prior Certification Requirements
    Step 2 - Pass Exam
    My question 2, is about the Step 1
    This relates to to the upgrade path route to Oracle Solaris 11 System Administrator certification.
    The key point in your question is how the prior certification requirements "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" should be interpreted
    And in particular is the "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification" (Attained via 1z0-876) included within that.
    ==== Answer ====
    Unfortunately for you the answer is no.  However while my providence in this area is excellent I am not authorative and I would recommend it you have any doubt to raise a support call at Oracle University - Support Form subject "Certification Upgrade Path" for a definitive answer.
    ==== Comments ====
    1. I am not entirely happy with the wording: "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version"
    It is OK when interpreted as
    "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator"    ( This clearly does not encompass the Oracle Solaris 10 OCA)
    OR
    "Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" ( Which essentially Encompasses SCSA 10,9,8,... when the certifications were under sun (and regarded as OCP level by Oracle) ... but not the Sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS )
    2. OCP Upgrade exams  are only from a version at a prior OCP level.  This means the training requirement was met at a prior OCP level version or the OCP level was achieved at a previous version before a training requirement was introduced.
      (The special exceptions of 1z0-067/1z0-034 have just been introduced for Oracle DBA but these retain a training requirement at the higher version ... nobody would touch attempting these until oracle certification offered free beta vouchers and had the Oracle Certification Help Center besieged by those who missed out!)
    3: My understanding is the sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS was designed a single exams certification for people wishing a solaris certification not wishing to take on an SCSA and knowing the in's and out of system administrator things like OPENBOOT firmware and backups etc.  Things that perhaps say a developer would not need to know.  When taking over from Sun as the Certification had Associate in it they felt appropriate to may it to the name "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification".  Nowadays it starting from scratch undoubtably that exam would be an OCS certification.  For Oracle Solaris 11 System administrator they were able to map the 1z0-821 exam to an OCA and 1z0-822 to an OCP in line with they more typical model.
    ==================
    Hope this Helps ....

  • 10g Database Exams and Certifications being retired 01-Mar-2015

    Please note that 10g Database Exams and Certifications are being retired 01-Mar-2015
    https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1060_01
    Hemant K Chitale

    This is probably less of an issue than the 9i retirements as there is unlikely to be too many mid track with a lot of exams to pass.
    Wrt DBA OCP: The upcoming 1z0-034/1z0-067 also provide an escape route from those on 9i/10g DBA OCA with the 9i/10g exams to DBA OCP retired; however they require the authorized course to be against 11g/12c  .... which might be a gotcha for people in that position.  ( These OCA upgrade exams set a new precedent .... they probably should help people feel they have not been cut off from a retirement .... and perhaps with the increasing cost of exams that is relevant for some ).

  • 12c ocp upgrade exam 1z0-060

    Hi all,
    currently 12c ocp upgrade exam (1z0-060) is validated against Oracle Database 12.1.0.1.0.
    any idea when its going to validate against 12.1.0.2 or with some new topics as going to sit in this exam .
    So to avoid any surprise near to exam date ,i would like to know is this exam stay some more time with this release or going to change soon with some more topics.
    Thanks
    kuljeet

    I understand changes on production exams cannot be developed so easy, but regarding to this new release it could be good to analyze if could be interesting update the exam.
    "Interesting' or not, making topic changes to production exams is a huge amount of work... and not just for Oracle University. When topic changes are made, such as happened with the 1Z0-047 exam on September 15th or last year, it immediately obsoletes all of the test preparation material in existence for that exam, whether it be books, study guides, or practice exams. People making use of these legacy materials are likely to be caught off guard when taking the exam and they determine that they are not prepared for the newly-added topics. It just doesn't make sense unless the changes that were made are extremely significant.  With a 'New Features' exam, it is difficult to imagine any new feature being added in a patch release that is so significant that it warrants such handling.
    Any time a new release or patch comes out, OU does go through the exam to verify the existing questions still make sense.  I don't know to what level they make changes at this point. However, I am fairly certain that if, for example, in version 12.1.0.1 there was a given restriction and in 12.1.0.2 that restriction was removed... any questions on the exam that referred to the changed restriction would either be removed or altered such that the correct answer was not version-dependent.

  • 1Z0-882 study guide (MySQL 5.6 Developer) - recommendation

    Hi
    I hope that will help others,,,,,
    I found a good study guide for 1Z0-882 (Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.6 Developer)
    http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920032274.do

    @Matthew Morris
    Do you plan to release study guide for 1Z0-882 MySQL 5.6 Developer? I recommend you, because MySQL has much larger user base and that means more $$ for you.
    I have a list of definite and potential exams that I plan to write guides for.  I am currently working on one for 1Z0-460: Oracle Linux 6 Implementation Essentials and hope to release that in a couple of weeks.  Then I have at least one (1Z0-054: Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning), and possibly two (second undetermined) that I want to do before I start on guides for the 12c exams (1Z0-060 and 1Z0-062).
    When I saw that 1Z0-882 and 1Z0-883 were in beta, I added them to my list.  However, I have no idea when (or if) I'll get to them.  I can guarantee that it will not be this year.  Next year... who knows. 1Z0-460 was not originally in my near-term list of guides to write.  I switched from 1Z0-054 to it because I got an opportunity to take a boot camp for Oracle Linux 6 and decided to write that guide while the information was fresh in my memory.  Because I don't have a contract with a publisher to write this book by that date... the actual order of the guides is fluid and gets determined weeks (or even days) in advance rather than months.

  • Errors in 1z0-051 and 1z0-061 Official Oracle exam guides

    What can we do about errors in the official Oracle exam guides.
    I am doing the 1z0-061 (Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals).
    The 051 and 061 exams are exactly the same.
    051 is written by John Watson and Roopesh Ramklass and the 061 is written by Ramklass, but the thing is, both books have the same content word for word.
    I found these errors in the books:
    (1.) In chapter 08 (Using subqueries to solve problems) in both books it says "A subquery can be used to select rows for insertion but not in a VALUES clause of an INSERT statement".
    But this is wrong. You CAN use a subquery in a VALUES clause: This will work ->
    INSERT INTO values_test (f1) VALUES ((SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL));
    However you have to have the 2 brackets in red.
    (2.)
    Chapter 2: Self test question 9
    The following character literal expression is selected from the DUAL table: SELECT 'Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring' FROM DUAL; (Choose the result that is returned.)
    A.  An error would be returned due to the presence of two adjacent quotes
    B.  Coda's favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    C.  Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    D.  Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring'
    The books says the correct answer is B. But this is wrong.
    Correct answer is C, since the "" are 2 double quotes and they will appear as it is.
    Even if "", is actually 4 single quotes the output then will be Coda''s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    which has 2 single quotes.
    I wrote to the author  (emai [email protected]) but got no reply.
    How can we let Oracle certification know that there are errors in these books. This can affect the exam and can mean the difference between passing and failing.

    >The book cover says "Oracle Press", meaning Official Oracle.
    No -- the name does not mean that.  'Oracle Press' is a division of the McGraw-Hill publishing company that specializes in writing books for the Oracle suite of products.  Oracle has close ties with the publisher and often supplies information to the authors that is not publicly available.  However, Oracle is not responsible for the content of the books.
    >If not, then what ARE the Official Oracle guides?
    The only thing that you could call an 'Official' Oracle guide would be student guides developed by Oracle University for one of their courses.  This content is supplied to attendees of the courses. The material is copyrighted and should not be available on the Web.

  • Can i use "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning " training for getting certification on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054"

    i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?

    I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
    I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents).  BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
    .... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
    - This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
    - Confirmation from Brandye
    - Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
    ... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054.  I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
    If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
    In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training  and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version.  ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
    Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts.

  • Weblogic 11 G Certification 1Z0-102 Contents Updated?

    Hi,
    I've been working for 1Z0-102 Weblogic 11g Exam since some time now and I recently checked the exam objectives to validate my prep. It looks like it has been reduced and although objectives still cover clustering and fail over, exam contents do not !
    Am I looking at wrong information, or it has been updated? Was it ever there? I can recall having these topics in WLS 11G Cert. Can someone validate?
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-102&p_org_id=&lang=
    Look at following text from above link :
    The Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle WebLogic Server 11g System Administrator should have a firm grasp on the administrative tasks performed by a WebLogic Server 11g System Administrator, including installing and configuring Oracle WebLogic Server 11g, deploying Java EE applications to Oracle WebLogic Server 11g, and configuring Oracle HTTP Server as a Web proxy for Oracle WebLogic Server. OCAs certified as a WebLogic Server 11g System Administrator should also be able to configure Oracle WebLogic Server cluster to support failover and load balancing for applications*.
    Certification is obtained by passing the certification exam: 1Z0-102, Oracle WebLogic Server 11g: System Administration I.
    Does it mean Cluster is no longer part?
    Thanks.

    It is possible (though infrequent) for exam topics to be updated; there are precedents for this; it happened on DBA OCA/OCP 10gR1->10gR2 and for Solaris 10 under sun. It also happens sometimes after beta.
    That is why it is always useful to periodically go back and check as you have sensibly done.
    I admit my knowledge of weblogic is patchy. I know very few some obscure parts, a lot of basics I don't know.
    From the knowledge I have (which may be imperfect) I believe you are right to question why:
    On the exam topics page: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-102&p_org_id=&lang= there appears to be noo mention of any clustering topics. On the associated certifcation page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:Weblogic11g as you rightly say the certification does cover clustering. The suggested training course: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=609&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&get_params=dc:D58682GC20,p_preview:N .... covers clusters.
    At least three possibilities exist:
    - Clustering covered under other topics or throughout exam (IMHO unlikely)
    - Clustering topics were in exam, but removed, and certiifcation description not changed to suit.
    - Clustering topics are on exam but missed from topics list on the webpage
    Brandye (cert forum moderator) is usually great at checking this and following up (but she can anlso randomly on holiday etc) .... but IMHO there is more than enough reason here to raise a SR here (note it may take a few days to get an answer):
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP
    ( Not sure about which Issue type to choose ... its a toss up between ( BEA Certifcation / Certification details or OTHER) ... I think OTHER might be safest).
    Post the SR number back on this Thread for Brandye to follow up if she passes by.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    My knowledge of this anything that follows is very very sketchy and non authorative. I may be talking rubbish during part of it, and I defer to those who know such technology areas better):
    There are/have recently been a number of weblogic related changes ... and Oracle may be steering to view management of weblogic clusters down a different angle:
    Looking at the all exams and all certification pages ...
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=632
    I see a number of certifcations / exams which appear to be related to weblogic / weblogic clusters to a greater/lesser degree:
    Oracle WebLogic Server 10g System Administrator Certified Expert (WLS 10g OCE via 1z0-108 ) #### This certainly covers clusters ...
    Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle WebLogic Server 11g System Administrator ( WLS 11g OCA via 1z0-102)
    Oracle Cloud Application Foundation Certified Implementation Specialist (CLOUDAPP OCS via 1Z0-468) ### very loose connection ( beta finishing soon)
    Oracle Application Grid 11g Essentials (APPGRID OCS via 1z0-523) ### quite loose connection
    Oracle WebLogic Server 12c Certified Implementation Specialist (WLS 12c OCS via 1z0-599) ### Covers cluster
    ... I suspect as the WLS 11g OCA is at OCA level I postulate it may have been felt appropriate to leave clustering it for a later or different exam (e.g. WLS OCP 11 should that ever appear). Generally the OCS exams are for Oracle Partners and often lean towards installation/deployment of the associated product and things needed by a partner.
  • Which book topics to follow for exam 1Z0-007? Sybex or Oracle press?
    Hi, I am studying following both books for exam 1Z0-007 but sybex book by Chip Dawes covers more topics then oracle book. I am wondering if i still need to study those topics in sybex book which are not covered in oracle press book? For example DML Locks have been discussed in detail in sybex book as compare to oracle book and few topics are missing in oracle press and don't know if there will be any question in the exam from those topics?
    1) OCP Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL Exam Guide by Jason Couchman
    2) OCA/OCP: Introduction to Oracle9i SQL Study Guide by Chip Dawes, Biju Thomas
    Can anyone pls advise? Also i like to know if SelfTest software covers same questions which are in sybex and oracke press book? Because SelfTest software has same questions for microsoft exams which are already in the cd of microsoft official press books.
    Thanks
    The proper method is to look at the exam topics on [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_007] which is authorative.
    either the Sybex or Oracle Press book is authorative, and sometimes exam changes after these are printed (with revision from 9iR1 to9iR2 for example).
    In general you should probably have enough material in the two books given for this exam. Its probably cheaper to take the exam itself rather than buy additional Selftest questions. Your time may well be better spent practicing the things you have trouble with. Also be aware these books can have errors. And learn whichever is in either book even if it isnt examined. Its good for you!
  • 1Z0-058: Practice exams?
    Hi everyone
    I'm currently revising for the 11.2 RAC expert exam (1Z0-058)
    Usually I like to work through some practice tests alongside the text books - I used to use Self Test Software - but for this exam I can't find any that I trust.
    There aren't even any sample questions on Oracle's website! (eg for the R1 exam: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=303&p_certName=SQ1Z0_048)
    Can anyone recommend a good company for practice tests for this exam? Or where I can find any official Oracle sample questions?
    NOTE: I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AND NOR AM I INTERESTED IN DUMPS OR CHEATS
    Any info would be greatly appreciated
    RupAbout the only place I know of that is currently certification safe is ucertify.
    ( www.ucertify.com )
    If you use them you must:-
    (a) Check yourself regularly on www.cerguard.com that their site remains braindump free
    (b) Be prepared that the quality may be low to extremely low ... but at least they are probably trying to use original questions.
    (c) Be prepared to be disappointed, prehaps extremely so
    (d) However it may expose some areas you are weak on ... and it indicate off topic subjects that are irrelevant.
    It probably actually quite hard and expensive to produce good practice tests .... thats probably why Kaplan ttake their time to produce any (and even there the odd issue can arise)
    Ucertify aim at a different market by trying to be quicker to get an exam out ... but at possibly thenexpense of qualtiy ... though they do ask for feedback so practice test quality might improve with time.
    - Please note I am not linked to Ucertifiy ... but if I dont mention them then many people head towards braindump site search for what it not there.
    ... All this is my opinion only ... an yif I was to reanswer the question I'd proably write it differently. Its also late for me and I and too tired to proof read.
    I suggest taking careful looks at the topics and not relying too much on practice tests for this one though
    ... Good Luck.
