Thanks

Hi,
Welcome 2 Oracle Forums :)
in order to pass the1Z0-402 exam “Enterprise Linux Fundamentals”
and achieve the “Oracle Enterprise Linux Certified Implementation Specialist”
certification is a led-instructor course compulsory?
Or the course is compulsory only for the “Oracle Enterprise Linux Certified Administrator”
Certification, that also includes the exam 1Z0-403 exam “Enterprise Linux System Administration”?If you have any certification in linux track Linux+, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or Novell the just u need to write 1z0-403 to get Enterprise Linux System Administration.
If you do not have such certificate then first u need to clear Enterprise Linux Fundamentals 1Z0-402 and to receive certifi cate for this u need to submit hands on course.
Hope its clear now.

    Hi to all,
I'm based in the UK and am looking to complete the the Linux OCA qualifications by the end of the year. I am having some difficulity finding any media to help with learning the subject. I have searched for books to buy and non are available in the UK. I usually use Sybex as study material but the book I was searching for does not seem to be available. I was wondering if anyone else had any more suggestions to what study material I should be using?
I happened also to look to sign up to the instructor led course but had no luck there here in the UK.
    Thanks to all that reply.

Edited by: Jamie Gadong on Jun 17, 2010 2:08 AMThe book ISBN-13: 978-0071615440 remains unpublished (Despite a page count on amazon).
Two books hat might help towards 1z0-402 are:-
    ISBN-13: 978-0470404836 (LPIC-1)
ISBN-13: 978-1430215752 (Linux Recipes for Oracle DBAs: A Problem-solution Approach)
I dont have a single reference for 1z0-403 but in general system admin information applicable to RHEL 4 is useful. Beware of trawling the net as you would probably simply come accross links to unauthorised learning material/braindumps unless you are using non-certiifcation related sites. The OEL forum may also be useful if you are studying a topic and become stuck.

  • Study source for 1Z0-051 exam Oracle11g SQL Fundamentals certification

    Greetings,
What are some good sources for this exam that are legit. I have the OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam guide, read the whole section regarding SQL and have practiced the test questions until I scored 100% multiple times. Yet (with all humility), I failed the exam. I don't want to cheat and will keep trying until I pass it the right way! I'm going to keep studying the areas I need to really master., but I noticed that the real Exam was nothing like the practice exam. For me, the real exam was a lot trickier and there were a few questions that the book didn't cover. The guy working at the test center recommended testking but upon further research, some sites consider using testking as cheating. I have not purchased any new study guides and would like feedback to some legit study guides. Is the transcender study guide legit and worth it? Please pardon me if this question has been asked a dozen times. I will scour the forums for more info regarding this but also wanted some direct feedback.
    Thank you,
    A mon

Thanks for the link and the advice. Very helpful! And yes, it got to the point where I knew some of the answers before I finished reading the questions.
    Thanks,
A monI was going to say possibly the cheapest way is buy the sybex Book : ISBN-13: 9780470395127 which is like the Watson Book ... but it isn't that cheap andalso coves 1z0-052 which you don't need.
( Selftest Sofware is reputed to be good, Transcender a little better (they are both Kaplan Brans and overlap common material). Ucertify may be cheapter but quality may be less. And make sure you get the right site and not a phishing link pretending to be them.
.... wsa it you who i said to try the exam and see where you were really at ? .. if so sorry and better luck next time. Perhaps though it is an opportunity to revise study technique.
    See: http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/question_of_the_day_how_to_pre
.... Doing your own flash cards and notes can be useful.
I always regard practice questions as precious and leave it as late as possible in study before doing questions.
(If you must peek ahead choose a chapter just before half way through the book and do end of chapter questions for that only).
But I won't even do end of chapter practice questions until I think I know the whole exam topics and have notes on all the material.
Only when I think I know it all will I do even end of chapter questions.
And I wont do them if I have read up on the topics during the day. I will wait until the next day.
And after doing end of chapter results I re-read the chapter and topics and practice. But I wont redo those questions for a few days
And only when I get good enough practice score from the chapter do I take a full practice test.
Basic principle is concentrate on learning and use the precious study ids to fill the gaps. It's a little slower getting there that way but these is more chance of a pass.

  • Prepare for 1z0-402 and 1z0-403 with CentOS?

    Hi
Can I prepare for 1z0-402 and 1z0-403 (Oracle Enterprise Linux Administrator Certified Associate) with CentOS? Because there are no free security updates for Oracle Linux.

This is RHEL/OEL 4 based, so centos or OEL or RHEL could be used as appropriate. They important thing to note is the '4' .. which is now a little ancient ... some things a little different in '5' and '6'. The exam could usefully do with a makeover IMHO.

  • 1Z0-402

    Hi all,
I want to study the OEL certification.
I saw that the exam 1Z0-402 is validated against Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) Version 4.
I'm working everyday on OEL Version 5.x
As that exam covers the basics of Linux administration : I suppose studying on 5.x is not a problem ?
Is it also true for the next exam Enterprise Linux System Administration 1Z0-403 ?
Anyone know if these exams will be upgraded to the version 5 of OEL ?
    Thanks for your answers.

As that exam covers the basics of Linux administration : I suppose studying on 5.x is not a problem ?From memory this exam is more orientated towards 'user' commands and the topics can probably be effectively studied on OEL 4 or OEL 5 or most linux / unix versions. The pass mark is not too high so the occasional mistake can be tolerated.
Is it also true for the next exam Enterprise Linux System Administration 1Z0-403 ?If you check the topics for this I think you will notice much more on the unix admin side. There are some changes between OEL 4 and OEL 5 so you need to watch the topics carefully.
If in doubt I'd recommend installing OEL 4 as a virtual machine using sun virtualbox or whatever takes you fancy.
Anyone know if these exams will be upgraded to the version 5 of OEL ?
I dont know this. Perhaps they will wait a while longer for OEL 6. As there is to be a RHEL 6 I would expect an OEL 6.
    Thanks for your answers.

  • Reference book for Oracle Linux exam 1Z0-402

    Hi gurus!
Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?
    Thanks
    Mokarem

Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?By itself, 1Z0-402 does not grant any certification. Presumably you are going for Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate. That certification path also requires passing 1Z0-403. However, you can skip 1Z0-402 if you already have one of several other industry Linux certifications (LPI, Linux+, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or Novell). My recommendation would be to go for one of these certifications, then skip straight to the 1Z0-403 exam. I suggest that for several reasons:
    1. There is a lot more study resources for exams like CompTIAs Linux+ available.
    2. The other Linux certifications are better known than Oracle's.
    3. Since 1Z0-402 by itself does not grant a certification, going this route gets you two certifications for the price of one.

  • Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate: 1Z0-402 and 1Z0-403

    Hi
there is a study guide available soon Oracle Enterprise Linux Administrator Certified Associate Exam Guide (Exams 1z0-402 and 1z0-403), that why I will take exam ;-)

Unfortunately LPIC expires after 5 years unless you take a higher level or retake same level .....
    RHCT similarly.
The Oracle exam certification relates to OEL/RHEL 4 ... which is a bit oldhat rather than redht nowadays. The advantage for you is it is an easy win, the disadavantage is it doen't really say much mor eabout yourself. RHSA on RHEL 6 might suit and say more .... but might be harder to gain. Any it wouldn't help any Oracle Partnership points iof that was important. However as pointed out you should be able to waiver 1z0-402

  • May i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) exam or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051)

    Hi all,
Please suggest me, may i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) Test or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051) Test with
    oracle Administration 1(1Z0-042) Test.
Which will be the best option.
    Thanks & Regards

You may use either exam along with the Oracle Administration 1 (1Z0-042) exam if your goal is to get a 10g DBA OCA credential.
The SQL Expert exam is quite a bit more challenging than the SQL Fundamentals exam. On the other hand, the SQL Expert exam gives you a separate SQL Certified Expert credential. If you can pass it, you should take the SQL Expert exam.

  • Is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 enough for preparing for the 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-144 Exams?

I am planning on getting certified as an OCA PL\SQL developer. I will be teaching myself and I have all the material needed to prepare.
Except, I don't have a database that I can solve exercises on and practice commands.
The two exams I will be taking are the :
1Z0-051 exam: Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
1Z0-144 exam: Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL
So is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 is enough ?
If it is not what other options do I have (I am running Windows 8.1) ?

Yes -- 11gXE should be sufficient for practicing the vast majority of the skills required for those two exams.  I *think* that PARALLEL is not enabled in XE, so you could not test the functionality referred to in the "Use NOCOPY hint, PARALLEL ENABLE hint and DETERMINISTIC clause" topic of 1Z0-144.  I don't consider that to be a significant problem, however.  The material from the manual should suffice for the questions you'll see.
As for what other options you have, you could download and install VirtualBox (free from Oracle).  You could then make a virtual machine on your Windows 8.1 machine and install Oracle Linux (free from Oracle).  You could then download and install Oracle Enterprise for Linux and install it on your virtual machine (allowable under the licensing when used for learning purposes only).  I have a similar setup on my Windows 7 laptop that I use when I absolutely have to test some feature that requires Oracle Enterprise.  Mind you, when I have the VM running on my system... it is ssssslllllloooooowwwwww because of the memory requirements.  I talk about using virtual machines as a certification aid in the following article:

  • Rhce to Enterprise Linux System Administration

You would need to pass 1z0-403 to get Oracle Enterprise Linux Administrator Certified Associate (as your existing certification is an acceptable alternative for 1z0-402 you shouldn't have to take it - but see below (1) ).
This certification is based on OEL4 (aka RHEL4) and would generally IMHO be considered a lesser certification than an RHCE (Though the questions asked migh probe some different areas compared to an RHCE).
IMHO In general RHCE certified people would be best advised to keep effort into keeping their certifications current. http://www.redhat.com/certification/faq ... afiak event RHEL 4 RHCE are now non-current or about to be so.
    - I am not sure if a non-current RHCE/LPIC would mean 1z0-402 can be bypassed. You would need to wait for an authorative answer on this.

    Hi everybody
My name is Jon Toshmatov and I am preparing for 1Z0-051 exam and I would like to ask you a few questions.
First, a little my background, I work for IBM in mainframe storage team and prior to IBM I have a few years of DBA experience.
Within 3 months I want to pass the 1Z0-051 exam and next 3 months 1Z0-052 exam and obtain OCA certification within total 6 months. Is this doable?
I am using this book "OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne ORACLE Press Series) " and Oracle manuals from Oracle website. Any other textbooks you would recommend?
Please share some tips and hints with me so I can build my preparation strategy.

Preparation time depends on the individual and how much time they have. Do not be surprised if your preparation time for 1z0-051is shorter than that for 1z0-052. Also be aware if you want to move to DBA OCP you need mandatory training at some point

  • Oracle 1Z0-052 exam help !!

    Hi,
I have passed SQL fundamental-I (1Z0-051) exam and now I am preparing for oracle database Administration exam-I(1Z0-052), but I have few questions :
    (1) Is knowledge of linux/solaris is must to pass this exam.
    (2) Is their is any requirement of PL/SQL before starting for this exam study.

As Brandye says, you should use the exam topics to plan your study.  The answer to your questions, however, is no to both.  You can find links to Oracle documentation, articles, books and videos relevant to this exam here:

I seem to recall at some point that exam vouchers were not transferable .... this may certainly apply to some voucher types ( I guess particularly WDP ones between individuals). But I dont have a reference URL for where I think I saw this.
It is just possible that you previously looked at the exam pricee in a low cost country ... and are now viewing it in a high cost country. Or the change may be due to volatile exchange rates.

  • Oracle enterprise linux and oracle 10g?

    Hey;
I'm pretty new to trying to download oracle and get it installed on a linux box. I made a couple of attempts on linux fedora core 10 and windows vista home edition both of which didn't get very far. Since I just past my ocp exams via a boot camp (yay for me!), I'm hoping to get a couple of linux boxes up and running to ensure I get the concepts down through practice.
From what I'm reading, it looks like I can download enterprise linux, put that on a system, and then download oracle 10g and install that w/little or no trouble (at least not expected...)
Am I reading that right or did I miss something? Any info greatly apprecaited.
    Doug O'Leary

    Hello,
You can download enterprise linux and 10g and get going. Enterprise linux is pre-packaged for the required components required to install oracle software, here is a link for your future reference to see platform compatibility.
