kind regardsWhile Oracle typically offer training that will cover most topics in most exams, and while online free access official documentation exists and covers mosts topics in mosts exams, only the most popular certifications have exam focused Oracle Press and similar pubications available. This is especially the case for beta exams.
You may seek the exams on the net but the result will be a series of unauthorised learning material braindumps .... ( http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html ). I must admit i've been busy and not been following these exams closely; however the braindump provders obviously have been!
Generally for beta exams one should either be very familar and experienced with the topics already and prepared to put in a lot of effort to become totally up to speed.

(While 9 track tape used to excite me, and i'd have trouble between my PE and NRZI, i would really be interested it whether a tape was stopped from unravelling by a black action man sponge or a pink cindy girl sponge ... and i live in fear of an operator clling me into the computer room by the tie and screaming .... stupid boy ... while is the thing sturring round degree by degreewhen round when if should be going in 120 degree jerks. Ah .. Oracle 5.1B ... ran in 2MB on a 286 ... those were the days ..... but if you're a geek for tapes then take the beta! )

  • Apparent ineffectiness of anti exam fraud for 1Z1-546 et al.

In reponse to another thread, having googled for 1z1-546 , it was immediately obvious the using braindump distributors have hold of a question set for this and other beta exams.
Perhaps this exam StorageTek Tape Libraries Essentials is interesting because it does not have the same prestigious sound as say Oracle Database 10g R2: Administering RAC
Now, at least to most people (IMHO), backups are boring ... and restores only begin to get exciting when they are likely to be needed.
Now I understand this exam is in the domain of what used to be 'Sun' ... however it has been released under Pearson VUE with all the latest security measures.
Viewing http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_546 it appears this is an OCS exam, mainly focused on partners, which seems reasonable, as few individuals are likely to go after this exam of their own individual accord.
Anyway why is 1z1-546 interesting ......
    1) The fraud has happened just recently. Despite new technology security measures.
    2) Oracle / Pearson should have been able to work out if it was an inside job or whether it was via Test Center Visits.
    3) This is a highly specialized area .... Oracle should be able to work out candidates AND THEIR ASSOCIATED ORACLE PARTNER who have been using the braindumps. Even if the use of a braindump is only highly probable rather than totally likely Oracle have an ethical policy which they are ethically obliged to enforce.
    4) Despite the relatively recent massive hikes in exam fees the targetting of this (presumably relatively low take up) exam by braindumpers imply the resources of Pearson VUE and Oracle will not be used when it might upset Oracle Partners.
    5) I have visions (perhaps incorrect) of Oracle Partners, needs to get their staff up with the recent qualifications, buying the braindumps for their staff and telling them to go and pass the exam. This of course feeds the braindumpers.

As always, thanks for bringing this to our attention. As it turns out, this exam does not appear to have actually been compromised. We selected the exam on several sites and received the message that it is not yet available. Nonetheless, Pearson VUE is aware of this and has already begun an investigation.

  • 1Z0-146 or 1Z1-144? clarification please

I passed the following certification exams -
    1) 1Z0-147 - Program with PL/SQL exam first and
    2) 1Z0-051 - Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I exam next.
Looking at the certification path for Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional, I see that I can either write 1Z0-146 - Oracle 11g Advanced PL/SQL OR the beta 1Z1-144 exam Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL. Am I correct in this assumption or am I allowed only to take 1Z0-146 to get the Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional ?
The certification path diagrams look clear enough. But I am a bit confused with the plus signs in one path diagram versus the forward arrows in another diagram, if that makes any sense at all.
I read elsewhere that the order in which I take the exams (or the hands-on course, if any) does not matter, so I decided I would ask the forum.
I would much appreciate any clarification on this point.

Could you please clarify as I have cleared 1z0-051 and want to go for OCP developer track but get confused whether I should go for 1z0-147 or 1z1-144(beta). Well as I have said many times I think 1z0-144 is a more modern exam and the topics are better chosen.
Your problem, as you are aware, is that when 1z0-144 beta finishes which should be 2009-09-10, (could slip again I suppose, but perhaps unlikely) and perhaps 2009-12-01 or so, 12 weeks later when production exam emerges
Can I go first for 1z0-146 and then later on for 1z0-144 , is it feasable? It is possilbe to do this, but your certification will not be approved until you have completed both.
    >
    Thanks for your answers.
It is not so nmuch that you are confused, it is that you have a choice and none of the options are perfect.

  • How similar is the performance and tuning 1z1-064 (12c) to the 1z0-054 (11g)?

I had taken the Oracle 11g performance and Tuning class from Oracle.
I am just wondering how close the 1z1-064 will be to the 1z0-054.
I am also studying for the 1z1-064 exam.
Are there any books out yet, or just the otn material.
    Thanks Roger

Hopefully John Watson will pipe in on this.  I know he has taken both exams.  He recently noted on the OraFAQ forum that he had taken both the 1Z0-063 and 1Z0-064 beta exams.  His comments about them there were:
"I would say that looking at the exams as a whole, there is a huge improvement over the 10g and 11g equivalents. The new exams cover a lot more material in a lot greater detail, and are a lot harder. These 12c exams are a Good Thing for the profession. They should filter out a lot of exam-cram only DBAs"
It's not clear to me how much of that comment was directed at 063 and how much at 064. The topic list for 063 is much larger than that for 053.  However, the topic list for 064 is actually a bit smaller than that of 054.

  • 1Z1-554-ENU: Oracle ADF Essentials exam, beta results?

    Hello,
The results for '1Z1-554-ENU: Oracle Application Development Framework Essentials' where supposed to be made available yesterday, but there is no sign yet.
I was logging in to my PEARSON VUE account, but there when clicking 'View Results' link I am getting a fat stacktrace of .NET application.
Does anyone has any input on this?
    Thank you,

  • Is there Insufficient incentive for people to consider 1z1-144?

Seeing one or two posts in the last week I believe there is insufficient carrot (incentive) for potential candidates to take 1z1-144.
Nearly everyone wishing to get PL/SQL developer OCA will simply look at the extra effort and potential delays if they go the 1z1-144 route, and will go for 1z0-147 instead.
There must surely be a risk of insufficient numbers taking 1z1-144, which will lead to a delay in the beta process, which probably isnt good for anybody, least of all those who have taken the beta.
I would suggest that a voucher be given to 1z1-144 beta that could be used towards:
    - (1) 1z0-144 if they fail their beta
    or
    - (2) 1z0-146
    PLUS
    - (3) A voucher to take 1z0-147 at a beta exam price if beta testing is extended beyond the current beta closure date when people pay for their 1z1-144 exam.
    Anyone any comments ....

Thanks for the suggestion ... I think i'd want to modify my original thoughts to only give beta test failures receiving retake discount vouchers ...
I think on retrospect beta failure who did not pass but achieved a certain level of performance should get a discount voucher (eg within 10% of pass or something), those who achieve a little better than a four year old pressing answer A the whole time should not be entitlled to a free retake.
Anyway with only one response I am not sure this is a running idea so I'll close question as answered. - rgds -bigdelboy

  • OCE: 1z1-054: passing beta exam without being 11g OCP DBA ?

    Hello,
I've question: can I take beta exam 1z1-054 (OCE performance tunning for 11g) without being 11g OCP DBA certified ? After sucessful passing of 1z1-054 I would go for 11g DBA OCP certification, and then submit hands-on-course... is it possbile? I'm aware that I wouldn't be allowed to claim that I've passed this OCE certification until I've gained 11g OCP DBA.
    Thanks for reply.

You do not have to be an 11g DBA OCP prior to sitting for the 1Z1-054 beta exam. As a matter of fact, you do not have to be an 11g DBA OCP to obtain this certification. You may also obtain the certification by completing the required training course. You can see your two options on our website at http://education-dev.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=287.

  • Material on 1Z1-451 (SOA Infrastructure Implementation) BETA certification

    Hi,
I am starting to study for the certification Oracle Service Oriented Architecture Infrastructure Implementation Certified Expert (exam 1Z1-451), but I can't find any books on amazon, nor any material inside oracle sites (otn / opn (my company is an Oracle partner / education).

    Thanks for answering bigdelboy.
I would like to make some more questions about the "beta" nature of the exam.
Which are the "bookable" dates of the exam ?
The easiest way to see this is to try it and find out!
goto Pearson VUE and go through the process of scheduling an exam at a convenient test center. go forward month by month until the exam runs out, then exit the booking process early.
Try it for another test center to confirm the exam ends at the same date.
Oracle can choose to extend this .... up until late January the exam was bookable until february 15th only .. then it was extended.
1z0-053 had extensions for over 6 months ... others have had far shorter extensions.
Typcially Oracle have been caught out in the past by announcing a date for bea testing which has had to be extended ..... sometimes by a serious amount of time .. wich is not really good.
Oracle will make these decisions based on reviews of exams taken so far.
Also, is it known when the production version will be released ?The production version will be released approximately 3 months after the end of the beta. ie there is a gap of about 3 months while the exam cannot be taken.
The price of beta is set low to encourage people to take it .... however if you take beta be prepared to accept these conditions or wait for the production exam.
Given my recent experiences of today i would also not recommend booking on the last day of beta as if your exam cannot be delivered for whatever reason (eg JCB digger man wants to electrocute himself on your test center's electricity supply) there will be no opportunity to reschedule regardless of whose 'fault' the failure to deliver was.
