2.0.1 yeah!!!!
After a couple of weeks of reading disaster posts about firmware 2.0 I took the plunge with 2.0.1. I had no problems upgrading, but it did take a while....but I was patient and waited it out. Everything seems fine and went to the app store and got some some stuff! The only problem was my IPT said I was connected to my router with wep security but I got a signal from safari saying that I was not connected. I put a $ sign in front of my wep password and all was solved. Seems like maybe some of the bugs were worked out with firmware 2.0.1 and iTunes 7.7.1.
So far I can post a happy ending.
Only problem is my iTunes shows 2.0 upgrade, not 2.0.1. Now what? What did you pay to go straight to 2.0.1, $10?

One of my kids ipods needed an update. It wouldn't let me do it via the itouch (like the other 2 itouches did). I had to connect to the PC, sync, update and then restore. Once I did, the apps could be downloaded again via icloud (which wasn't on the itouch before) but progress on games that were through Gamecenter did not transfer. Tried logging into Gamecenter and it states the user name is already taken. Yeah, I know it's already taken, BY MY DAUGHTER!!! Apparently she has a dragon game app that she manages through Gamecenter that she has worked her way to level 22 and now it is all gone. It wants her to restart from level 1. I know this isn't life or death and not like losing work data etc. But to a 9 year old who has spent $40 of her own money on gems, coins etc....... this is the end of the world. LOL. I do want to try to help her, I just don't know how.

Good start.
Only two things I did differently. I used a new admin account. I opened a .mov file freshly downloaded from Apple's web site.
Log into a different account with admin privileges (create a new one if necessary)
Download a .mov file and store it on the hard drive.
Open the .mov file.
Move that same file to a temp folder on hard drive and assign rights to problem user.
Log off and log in as the troubled user.
That same file should now open
Try opening one of the files that could not open before.
If that doesn't work, (I didn't do this, it was on another Apple support forum post elsewhere)
Fully uninstall QuickTime
Download the K-lite Codec pack (I downloaded the full version here http://www.free-codecs.com/Klite_codec_packdownload.htm)
Install it and accept its changes it will make
Once K-lite is installed, now you can re-install QuickTime
Try opening the file again

Okay, I'm trying to configure my sound system for stereo sound WITHOUT any special effects (ie 3-D sound, environmental audio, etc.) After trying to just FIND OUT how to do that (through the help menu and Creative website), I formed a very low opinion of Creative Labs and this product. This is ridiculous, and I am getting extremely frustrated. I doubt if I will buy any of their products, and this sound card came with this computer so I had no choice. The program that requests for me to change the settings states: "Test with the buttons below, and correct settings by using the tools supplies with your sound card." Yeah, right. I tried using the EAX control panel and hitting the "all effects off" button but no luck. I have tried using all the sound and volume settings also. I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and have an SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM). I have no sound problems whatsoever... I just need to disable special effects so that sound from the left channel is heard only in the left speaker/earphone, and the same thing with the right. Please, anybody, suggest something so I can sleep. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well it took me some time to google and stuff and i found out this is something many ppl. are stuck at.
The most common solution to do that is something like where i am at this point, there is a commented version of the code at the

I found about 30 Forums/ Posts that recomend that solution, 1 or 2 are mentioned that there wont be any content of the following site (google in this example) but NONE of these has a solution or a link to any informations how to solve that problem.

Yeah, i wanted to comment that readTimeout but forgot, doesnt seem to work for me, no matter what i set there (had ranges from 1- 99999) the timeout always occurs after about 20 seconds (but it could also be that there is something like a not working authentication mechanism abortin my connection hu?)
Well, going to check out the other two classes mentioned, of course going to reward you if this gets me to my aim;)

Hi all, I have been waiting for decent drives to hit the streets here and we now have 1tb drives - Seagate ST31000340AS - so I am preparing to fix all these iMacs that are currently hooked to much smaller drives via various interfaces. I have some nice cases made in thailand (tri-ports with Lacie chips inside) and now my question is what is the best way to consolidate configurations. For example:
iMac currently has these exernals in cases that can be swapped out:
1 300gig via firewire 800 - fastest drive for media storage and editing
1 120 gig via firewire 800 - small mobile hd
1 250 gig via firewire 400 - used for timemachine - case is fw400/usb only
Well, given that, and with one more 1 TB, what would u do? thanks!
ps. Oh yeah, how do i do it too! I have drive genius 2 and CCC. would i clone drives/partitions onto the 1tb? most of our partitions are bootable as well with latest OS for redundancy. I don't think I want to be copying files...that may be slow, but not sure what to do here...

The next release is OS X 10.6 which has to be purchased, it is not available through Software Update. The way to obtain it is to call you country Apple online store, which in the US is 800-MY-APPLE. Order 10.6 Snow Leopard from the legacy products list. When you get it, install it, then use Software Update to bring Snow Leopard to the latest 10.6.8 release.
After that, if your system will support it, call the Apple online store again, and purchase a download code for Lion. Mountain Lion can only be purchased from the App store. Once you install Snow Leopard, you can upgrade directly to Mountain Lion, if your system will support it.
If you do upgrade to Lion, one gotcha to be aware of is that support to run PowerPC programs was dropped in Lion. Many discovered this when their Office 2004 programs wouldn't run. Also, the Lion minimum memory is 2GB, however, many have found that they need 4GB for reasonable performance. -

Good day all. Two problems have just recently messed up iPhoto's works.
1) I changed my password for my dotMac account and iPhoto just can't seem to get it and as such I cannot access the Gallery through iPhoto.
2) A book that was successfully published back in September of '10, now is corrupt and crashes the application. Either I need to find the offending folder / .xml / .plist and trash it -or- in some way recover the book.
Any and all suggestions are welcome... and yeah.. I know.. I will ultimately upgrade, but I am not sure that the new version will remedy the problems.

alUpgrading is not the answer to either question, and frankly I wouldn't consider upgrading until you've dealt with them.

Delete the entry in your Keychain and try again.

The only way to recover a corrupted book is to restore from a back up. There is no "offending folder / .xml / .plist". The database is corrupt.
If you don't have a back up then the book is gone. You can try repair the DB as follows:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Umm I just got this iPhone 5 and cellular data is not working, can't access apps, heck can't even download any and Safari...ummm yeah not happening. I'm with Sprint if that makes any difference.
Are you in an area where there is no coverage?
You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't help, then yOu'll need to contact Sprint again. -
according to the tech specs' required to use iClode it seems that Apple is ignoring it's promisses to their valued costumers since 2001..I have to go to an Apple store and buy a new MacBook and iPhone..mm yeah right we are all swimming in cash. On June Apple had promissed it's old valued costumers that they can continue to access their Mac mail accounts via a browser. But hey ! why keep promisses. Now you need to purchase all the latest gadgets to use y'r Mac mail-iCloud. MOVING TO GMAIL !
If you had a MobileMe account, and provided you migrated it to iCloud before 1 August, you can access your email at http://icloud.com on any modern browser. 10.7.2 minimum and iOS5 or 6 are required for the devices to use iCloud syncing and other facilities.
If you have Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard you can set Mail up manually to access the email on an existing iCloud account:

I had been calling the wonderful people at Customer Service asking them when existing customers can get the iPhone and bill to plan for about 2 weeks, I was driving them crazy asking them questions about anything I could think of! Verizon CSR Reps ROCK!!!
My husband walked in to our local store yesterday around noon... He came home with 2 new 16 gig iPhones!!!! Yippee!
No pre order, no standing in line, and no one in the store! He added them to the plan, he bought 2 nice cases with holsters and 2 car chargers.
Now I've been enjoying my new iPhone, with no major problems! (one syncing prob but not a bad fix on iTunes!)
The BlackBerry Storm 2 was awful! I hated that touch screen, the freezing screens, battery pulls, and the BB computer software man it really bites, and all the other things I can't think of now because I'm loving my new iPhone ;]
I want to personally thank Verizon for all the great CSR Reps they have I've never met a inferior CSR Rep in 5 years of being a loyal customer! Every time I call Customer Service they have been so wonderful!!!

I actually didn't hate it all that much but that was probably because I was installing leaks and hybrids pretty much daily to make the phone usable. You don't really realize how bad BB OS until you try something else. I upgraded to the OG Droid and was amazed at the difference. No memory leaks, hour glass, battery pulls, and a web browser that wasn't a chore to use. RIM is so far behind and even OS 6 is fail.

i cant exactly can't understand what you mean to say but if you already have an apple ID which i bet you do. then you can redeem the $15 by clicking on the "redeem" option in the itunes store on mac/pc. the redeem option is loacted under the quick links table.
