Itunes 8 (8.0.0.35) it installed fine, although took a long time to install appearing to do everything more than once. It complained about Outlook running although it was not, attempted to shut it down and couldn't, and I shut the process down (I did not have outlook running nor was it listed in the Applications running on Vista, but was listed in the Processes running, so I shut it down). After this, Itunes loaded fine and all my Apps were still there, but it did not recognize the IPhone 3G (this is after a reset, as Itunes requires a reset when done)and I did not have the Iphone 3G plugged in during the Itunes update nor during the reset but plugged it in after. Also, my mouse and keyboard quit working. After the reset, I unplugged all the USB devices and plugged them back in (the IPhone 3G was NOT plugged in at this point)and this fixed the keyboard and mouse. Then when I plugged the IPhone 3G in the second time, Itunes recognized it and I was able to backup and Sync without an issue.
So far it appears to be working fine, although my backup is no faster that I can tell, but then again it never was slow.
I want to see if it fixes the problem with updates to Apps, or if the IPhone 3G OS 2.1 is needed to fix it, or if it gets fixed at all. The problem I refer to is when there is an update for one of my Apps I cannot install it either using Itunes (7.7.1.11) or on the IPhone 3G, getting some error message on Itunes (error code: 0xE800002E), and the IPhone 3G says you can install the next time you connect to Itunes, which of course is not true as you just get the same afore mentioned error message. I will see the next time there is an update to one of my Apps.

Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTunes,  then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2).
Many thanks. That issue will be causing the iTuneshelper error message too.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

You burn your music from CDs the same way. Make a playlist with the music; click the +Burn Disk+ button. That's makes a +music CD+.
However, that is not the best way to +back up+ your music, because you will lose some fidelity going from AAC (or MP3) to a +music CD+ and later ripping them back. If you want to use writable CDs or DVDs, you can instead use the +File -> Library -> Back Up to Disc+ command.
Since you use Leopard, if you are using Time Machine, they are already being backed up. If you are not using Time Machine (you should be), but you have an external drive with sufficient space, you can simply drag and drop your iTunes folder from the internal drive to the external drive. If you did not change the default settings, it is at
    <user home folder>/Music/iTunes/

  • ITunes helper and qttask do not appear in my startup files menu

Troubleshooting iTunes not recognizing my iPhone anymore (always worked in the past), after downloading the new iTunes and new iPhone software. Have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice and followed as much of the online troubleshooting as I could. Could not find iTunes helper and qttask in my startup files menu. This must be what is keeping iTunes from recognizing my iPhone. How do I get these files back?

    Many thanks.
That can indicate trouble with your Apple Application Support. (Apple Mobile Device Support uses some AAS program files too, so it's consistent with your recognition issue, too.)
    I'd try the following instructions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11901253&#11901253
(Although those instructions are for a 32-bit Vista, they're pretty much identical for XP. Just read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove Programs control panel" and "Computer" as "My Computer".)

  • Error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available" and saving to wrong Drive

I am trying to upgrade iTunes to 10.7 on my PC but I keep getting the error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available". Diagnostics take me a support page which talks about not being able to see the device in iTunes - but I can see the device without problems.
I thought I would try reinstalling iTunes from the webpage and it downloaded to my PC fine but when I went to setup, it showed me it is saving to a DVD drive - not my Hard drive. It also won't let me change the location for the file. I have no idea how that's happened as I obviously don't use the DVD drive as a USB (although the PC see's it as one) and I've never chosen it as the location for iTunes in the 7-8 years that I've been using it.
I then thought I'd try uninstalling it and reinstalling it (to the correct drive) but again, it comes up that the DVD drive is invalid and won't uninstall iTunes.
So I'm stuck and haven't been able to find anything helpful on the support pages or in iTunes Help.
    Please someone help ...
    Thanks.

Try the following user tip. (Probably, the section on clearing the installation database might be best given that you've currently got a drive on the problematic letter at the moment.)

  • I want to transfer a movie I have downloaded from itunes to my new IPAD. I have been on the itunes help menu, it tells me to look under 'devices' tab for IPAD. BUT there is no 'devices' tab and it does not list my new IPAD. Help!

I want to transfer a movie I have bought in itunes to my new IPAD. I have been trying to work how to do this for 3 days now. I have accessed all the itunes help and forums and wiki online. They all tell me to go to the DEVICES tab on itunes and select IPAD then sync. YUP seem simple, BUT there is not DEVICES tab listed on my itunes and it does not list IPAD. Years ago I set up my IPOD no problem and that is listed, but not the new IPAD. Can anyone help? I would love to be able to actually watch films on my IPAD!! thanks

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - when connected (and if your computer's iTunes is up-to-date) your iPad should then appear on that sidebar under a 'Devices' heading :
If you select the iPad on that sidebar you can then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync that film to your iPad's Videos app.
Has your iPad been synced to the computer before ? If not then you might find this page for syncing to a new computer useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • Itunes help is not working in 10.5.

Recently I updated to itunes 10.5.
When I click on "itunes help" it opens a window that reads:
    Not Found
The requested URL /itunes/win/10.5/ was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2.3 (Oracle) Server at help.apple.com Port 80
Anybody else having this problem? Would like to fix it without reinstalling the whole application.

This may be considered a valuable clue and in my mind points to being a bug in the mail tool itself. I noticed that in my case there was special formatting in the email I was composing. I had started lines with bold texted characters then tabbed over to write text in default format. Above the format changes I was getting the word wrap I would expect. Below the special characters I was getting the anomalous behavior of words being split by wrap.

  • I can not open iTunes. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get this message when I try to open itunes. can not find MSVCR80.dll     Then I get ERROR 7 (windows error 126)   I tried reinstalling iTunes but that did not help. Please Help Me!

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
