2.0 Firmware update: router & car connection successes,  failures & warning

1. I found out that my Touch doesn't see the network on my Airport extreme 802.11n operating on 5GHz in a mixed Airport Extreme network. It does, however, see & connect to an attached Airport extreme 802.11g operating on 2.4GHz (with WPA2). Conclusion: Maybe the Touch can't connect to routers operating on 5GHz. Has anyone had any success with routers operating on 5GHz?
2. After installing the firmware update, my Touch stopped working with my car's Alpine iPod radio that I had been using for over a year with the Touch without any problems. It detected the iPod, but kept on "searching" without any success. I'll try another iPod tomorrow, but I'm sure the radio is OK. That's a problem as I doubt that the radio manufacturers will come up with software updates to accommodate Apple's iPod firmware updates. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem?

No video and audio dropouts with my 2G touch. 2G Nano works fine. Alpine Tech help's pointing the finger to Apple.

  • Homehub Firmware update causes wireless connection...

Firstly I know this is technically a double post but i hadn't realised i had posted in a solved topic.. So from previous posting
I now cannot get wireless connection on a HTC Legend running android 2.2  everything has been working fine for the last 8-9months then after the new firmware that was applied to my homehub on 7/5/11 it all stopped working on the 8th. Before posting i had been into the hub manager and cleared the device list, Changed from WPA to WEP to Nothing and back, tried changing channels etc.
I have also cleared the connection from the HTC legend to no effect. This seems rather too coincidental that the firmware update including "Improvements for smartphones" and it now longer works.  I have tested the legend on other wifi networks and all works well so definately not a phone issue. Interestingly my Desire HD still connects ok ot the homehub but runs 2.2.1 not 2.2.
I would like to roll back the firmware to the previous version on the homehub but cannot find anywhere to get the binaries. Can anyone point me to the right location. Or do i have to do a full hardware reset to restore factory firmware. I'm sure that there have likely been updates that i may actually need?
    Cheers

  • SMC Firmware Update 1.7 "Installed Successfully" Multiple Times, But Still Not Installed

    MacBook Pro, 15", Early 2011
    OS X 10.8.2
Software Update keeps telling me that I have the MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.7 available for my machine.  I have run this update several times, both through Software Update and through directly downloading it from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
Through either method, running the update yields the same result:  it runs, reports that the update is installed, restarts the machine, and all seems good.  However, if I run Software Update again or check the SMC version, I still have the old SMC version 1.69f3 and the same update is still available in Software Update.
This thread -- https://discussions.apple.com/message/20649193 -- suggests running Disk Utility to find errors.  I have already run Disk Utility to check for errors (multiple times) and no errors have been reported.
This thread -- https://discussions.apple.com/message/21320561 -- suggested running a clean installation of the OS.  The other thread's solution ultimately also was a clean installation of the OS.  Having just done that barely a month ago on this machine, I really would prefer to not do that again so soon!
Has anyone else run into this issue and found a (hopefully less drastic) solution?  Thanks.

I guess I just fixed it.  Do you bootcamp to windows?  Once I changed my startup disk from the windows to the mac partition, rebooted, then dd the system update, the firmware update installed and took hold.

  • !Firmware update without internet connection

I want to upgrade my firmware version.Mine is N72.
But I don't have internet connection.
Is that possible to upgrade offline?
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks .

No it's not possible to update firmware without an internet connenction.
However you can visit a nokia care point and they will update it for you. It will be free if your phone is still under warranty (2 years in europe, 1 year elsewhere). If it's not under warranty it may still be free or they might be a small charge.

  • WRT54GL Web Interface Broken - Failed Firmware Update - Router Works

I have a WRT54GL v1.1 router. I tried to update the firmware, using what I thought was the newer firmware, apparently somewhere I mislicked and didn't get what I thought I was getting. It succeeded, but now the web admin interface is totally broken. It loads, but there are no link or text, I can seem some form fields with some data, but mostly it's like seeing the page with NO content or navigation (though I can see the layout correctly). This means I can't change any of the router settings.
My internet still works. Wireless works (I just have no way to secure it now). I have tried to usu TFTP to upload the correct drivers from this web site. It says "Cannot Connect to Server" or something like that when it tries. I have pinged the router and it works. I have tried to assign a static IP (192.168.1.100) and then have TFTP start as soon as I see my continuos ping start to get a result. It still says the same "Cannot Connect" type of message.
I have also tried to see if the router has some kind of "Management Mode" by holding the rest button, unplugging the router, plugging it back in, waiting 10 seconds and releasing then waiting a minute and going to 192.168.1.1 and it looks like the same exact broken web interface I normally get. It doesn't appear to go to a "Management Mode."
The power light is not blinking.
    Help!
    Screenshot of Broken Interface

What was the procedure you followed to upgrade/re-flash the firmware through TFTP?
As TFTP firmware upgrade was failed follow the below mentioned steps.
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run.
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • MacMice "The Mouse BT" disabled after Firmware update

I tried the firmware update and lost connection to my MacMice "The Mouse BT." As others said, the updatge never seemed to complete.
I changed the batteries in The Mouse BT. They were old anyway. Still no connection. Going with a previous topic, I reset PRAM (command-option-p-r) and regained the MouseBT. But later --- not sure if it was a logout or restart, I lost connection to MouseBT and have been unable to get it back.
Resetting PRAM has not fixed this since.
My BT preference pane does identify the mouse as
    Paired: yes
    Configured: yes
    Favorite: yes
    Connected: no
When I turn over MouseBT I can see the red optical light while touching the scrollwheel. Help!

    This question is NOT answered!
The update blew my Bluetooth away. Mouse & KB not recognized properly. Got a wired kb & mouse. Still not perfect. Bluetooth gone from system. Called support. Eneded up dropping my G5 off at Apple yesterday for a new board! Covered service but no computer for 7 - 10 days!
    Apple??

  • Router WRT54G, after firmware update to 1.02.0, internet not connect.

    Hello,
    (sorry by my english)
WRT54G V6 - the connection to Internet is hang.
After making a "Firmware Update 1.00.9 - 1.02.0" the connection to Internet I must do it in manual form, and it is hang in intermittent form.
With Firmware 1.00.9, it does not happen east error.
    My internet connection is ADSL.
    As I can solve this?
    Thanks.

    Wizzard,
Having the same problem here.  After updating the firmware the wireless connection to the network is unstable.  After rebooting the laptop most of the time I get "Low or no connectivity" message.  Sometimes it connects and dies after a few minutes.  And sometimes it connects and stays connected until shut down.
What do you mean by "u have to reset it for 30 seconds and then reconfigure it"?  Do you mean you actually have to reset the router to default settings and reconfigure, or just power down and bring it back up?
    Thanks,
    Stas

  • WPC300N lost connection to WRT150N after router firmware update

This is my second WRT150N in a week: out of the box it worked great, and then I updated the firmware to 1.01.9 (which is basically the same) and now my laptop WPC300N adapter can't connect to the WRT150N router! Anyone know how I can fix this? Set up: DSL modem connected to WRT150N WRT150N connected to desktop by wire. Laptop with WPC300N connect to router wirelessly. Thanks!

Yes I did updates on both router and adapter, but the original firmware on the router was basically the same as the one posted on Linksys web site (which I downloaded and used to updated it). On the first router that I bought, I followed the CD instructions and did the firmware update right away, and ran into the exact same problem. I did not have a chance to test to see if would work out-of-the-box. Now, the adapter just sits there with the "Act" light blinking regularly.

  • WRT1900AC - 2118 Error on Router Settings and Firmware Update

I bought a WRT1900AC in June and it has worked great. I was able to configure it fine after buying it with no problems. I wanted to make an update recently so I logged in and found that I couldn't access the router settings. When I tried I would get an error 2118.
At first I only got the error when clicking on "Connectivity" but was able to access "Troubleshooting". I powered off/on the router and everything still worked at this point except I was now getting the error on all router setting options Connectivity, Troubleshooting, firmware update msg that would display at the top of the admin panel. I tried more reboots/resets and nothing error error error.
I contacted Linksys support and after being on the phone ALL day they deteremined that the router must be defective. I brought the router back to best buy and they gave me a new one. Now I bring this one home and right out of the box the msg I get is "Your router was not successfully setup" and the error at the bottom is error 2118. I have tried rebooting/resetting and I can never get past this screen. After a reset I have tried to choose to configure manually and am able to login to the admin panel but I get the exact same error as with the original one error 2118 on any of the Router setting options and again it is displaying that there is a firmware upgrade available but I get the error 2118 and I click on "update". I have even followed the instructions on trying to use TFTP to update the firmware but all I get is "Unable to get a response from the server".
Right now the status is my internet works and my wireless works but only with the orginal network name and password since I can't change it.
FYI - Tech support kept pointing to my browser but I have tried from several devices and same issue.
    Tried from:
    winxp - IE8, firefox, chrome
    windows7 - ie, firefox
    ubuntu 12.04 - firefox
    ubuntu 10.04 - firefox
Cleared caches and rebooted on all and same issue on all. My last linksys router went 7years 0 problems, ah man this sucks if anyone can help I would be grateful.

Thank you so much for replying.
    Working from win7 IE11
    -windows firewall disabled
    -antivirus software firewall disables
    -disabled anitvirus software
    -disabled  browser security add-ons
-cleared browser cache & ran ccleaner
-added linksyssmartwifi.com and 192.168.1.1 to compatibility view
tried accessing linksyssmartwifi.com and am getting "Your router was not successfully setup"
tried steps when connected from wifi or LAN Port 1
Have tried the same steps but selected to configure manually so I could login with local access. I can access any of the Smart Wifi Tools but I can't access anything under "Router Settings' ie: Connectivity, Troubleshooting, Wireless or Security. I get the error 2118 so even though I have downloaded the firmware update to my desktop I can't upload to router since I can't access that page. Also if I click on the New Firmware available click here link I get the same 2118 error.
When I click on details of the 2118 error it reads:
    http://linksys.com/jnap/router/GetWANStatus2 : {} -- Status: 200 OK Content-Type: application/json; ...

  • EFI firmware update 1.4 killed my ethernet connection

Trying to set up my sister's new 20" iMac.
It came preinstalled with 10.5.6. We hooked it up to her cable modem with an ethernet cable, it got a DHCP'd IP address, I immediately ran software update and it downloaded a slew of stuff. After the initial update and restart, it went into the firmware update procedure for EFI Firmware Update 1.4. After the update we got the expected loud beep and restart, but now the ethernet connection is dead.
The computer claims the ethernet cable is not plugged in - network diagnostics says it can't do anything - to contact our network admin.
I tried another cable, I tried recreating the "Ethernet" connection in Sys Prefs->Network and also tried creating a new connection with ethernet but ethernet remains stone dead.
    Anyone see this before?
Jeez, this thing only worked for like an hour :-/

    Solved:
Tried 2 ethernet cables and all ports on the router with no luck.
Reset the PRAM with no luck.
Tried another router port - success!
Some experimenting reveals that the router port the computer was plugged into at the time of the EFI 1.4 update is now dead. It was working fine up til the firmware update but now won't work with any combination of cables or computers.
The iMac connects fine over ethernet to all of the other router ports with all 3 cables we have here.
Weird. I cant imagine that the firmware update somehow killed the ethernet port on the router. Timing sure is strange tho.

  • Cisco Router tried to take a firmware update and no longer works

Ok so internet was working fine until Cisco Connect told me to take an update.  My connection is wired and there were no disruptions during the download.  Yet the download still failed and now my power light blinks continuously and there is no internet access.  I tried instructions on "How to unbrick your Cisco Router", even got them to work, it took the firmware update from the cmd line.  Still doesnt work though.  What's wrong with this thing and how do i fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I ended up downloading a firmware utility program and was able to get it to reload. The power light became solid somewhere between 2-5 mins, however still didnt connect to the internet.  Found that all this factory resetting will change your Internet access name & password, with no way to find out the new one.  You have to remove the Cisco Connect program from your computer and reload it from the original disk.  Only then will you be up and running again.  While I appreciate the response Helm, I was way beyond a 30 second reset button solution when I posted this lol.

  • Possible Solution to Apples not Being Able to Connect to WRT54G After 1.01.0 Firmware Update

So like everyone else that has apples on their networks, ours did not work after the 1.01.0 firmware update.  However after a few hours and messing around, I finally got them to work with the router without having to downgrade to .9.
So far they still work thorugh a restart and a cold start, so I'm hoping that this fix will stick.
To get this to work you need to have another open wireless connection that you can connect to and get online with.
    Steps:
    1) First open up safari or whatever you use... (obviously doesn't load otherwise you wouldn't be reading this)
    2) Connect to the open wireless network, and then hit refresh... (it should load up the page this time)
    3) Go back up and reconnect to your router.... now try your internet again using your connection.  It *should* work fine...  and you shouldn't have to do it ever again...
    Good luck, hope this helps

HI  , just an addition to the above.....for MAC's go to system preferneces and then to network...choose you network card uner "connect using" and then under the TCP/IP tab select configure manually.....assign a static IP , subnet and gateway to the MAC along with the DNS entries....this static IP will work with the 1.01.0 firmware version .

    Dear Support Team,
I agreed to the Time Capsule 7.6.4 update today, but as it was completing, I received an error. It said to close the page and try again.
I use my Time Capsule as my Airport wireless router and now can't access the Time Capsule to re-upload the Firmware update.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Is there a way to resolve the problem?
Do I need to hardwire the Time Capsule? Then what?
    Would really appreciate some help!!
    Thanks everyone.

Factory reset the TC and it should come back to life.
    The Factory Reset.
    Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.
As a rule .. wireless is not reliable enough for mission critical work like firmware upgrades.. (Heck I don't think it is reliable enough for backups).
Apple doesn't insist on wired connections.. some other manufacturers do.. and post warnings not to attempt it over wireless. Warnings inevitably read after the failed firmware update btw.. so perhaps Apple have decided to just save themselves the hassle.
I believe it is just good practice to use ethernet for any time that sitting on a branch.. whilst sawing it off (ie failure will kill any future access).. means you always use ethernet for any setting up of a wireless router.. but you see I am old.. with grey/white hair.. and too many dead modems and routers around me.
