2.02 disconnect WiFi

After Update to 2.02
I cannot access to my own router WiFi Signal.
I can only access unsecured apple network.
What is this?? I don't know who's WiFi sig is.
Mr Jobs.. Please don't do this to me. Please.
I need to use it every moment.
I have ipodnotworkingphobia.
It is a new disease.
Please Fix the software ASAP.
Please.

I also had the same problem with an upgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 - an iPod Touch that worked fine over WiFi before was now toast as regards net connection.
Below is the lengthy process I went through to get 2.0.2 working. Maybe some of the steps are redundant but, for what it's worth, here is what I did...
(1) Firstly - if you haven't upgraded to 2.0.2 - DON'T. This build does seem problematic given the number of people reporting problems with regards to internet access after the upgrade
(2) If you have upgraded and have no net connection via WiFi, first reset the iPod Touch network settings (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings) as well as a software reboot of your router (usually via it's admin screen) and see if this solves the problem. If not, repeat but try powering the router off and on. For me, after the initial 2.0.2 upgrade, connecting to my Netgear DG834G router wasn't the problem...it was just that Safari, Stocks, Weather, etc. all reported that they couldn't access the net.
(3) Downgrade (back to v2.0.1) - for this you need to put the Touch into Restore mode. Power it off completely using the button on the top. Connect the Touch to iTunes. Power the Touch back up whilst holding down the Home button. iTunes should now display a dialog box to effect that you are in Restore mode. If you are on a Windows machine, hold the Shift key down and click "Restore" on the iPod page of iTunes. This should bring a file selection dialog - pick the relevant ipsw file (my 2.0.1 file was labelled iPod1,12.0.15B108.ipsw) which should be located in C:\Documents & Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates. On OS X, these files are in (username)/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates. iTunes may ask how you want to restore - I picked the 'new iPod' option hoping this would reset any configuration left over from the 2.0.2 upgrade. However, once this downgrade was completed, I still didn't have any net connection.
(4) Erase All - this was a drastic step as it clears all of your settings and content from the Touch. But I thought it might resolve the problem. Sadly, it didn't...but given it was part of the process, I've included it here. This is accessed via Settings -> General - Reset -> Erase All Content & Settings on the Touch. As I say, it erases everything so be warned. It also can take about an hour to complete.
(5) Re-install 2.0.2 - at this point, I had the downgrade v2.0.1 installed, no content on the Touch and still no net access. Getting desperate, I decided to retry the upgrade (iTunes will be telling you that a newer version of iPod Touch software is available obviously). So I installed 2.0.2 for the 2nd time and also synced the Touch to put back all of the content erased in step (4). However still no net connection.
(6) Router reboot - after all this and the net access problem still unresolved, I was about to drop Apple a strong email about lack of regression testing in their iPod Touch software builds. But in an act of desperation, I tried a router reboot via it's admin screen and suddenly the Touch apps (with 2.0.2 installed) were able to access net services! Hence my suggestion of trying step (2) at the outset and at every intervening stage.
I still don't understand why this fixed the problem as a WiFi connection was always there through the above steps (I have my configuration as no SSID broadcast, WPA password and MAC address filtering enabled). Plus the Touch's network screen would always report the correct router-assigned IP address and the correct DNS addresses after it had connected. I also have the latest revision firmware in my router. It just seemed as though the Touch apps couldn't open an IP socket connection even though the core network service was connected.
Anyway, sorry for the long post but I thought it might help others suffering this problem.

I have the iPad 2 16GB, bought it in August 2011, I worked perfectly but in mid-August 2012 I took her to the store because the microphone did not work reviewed and changed me, but to my surprise that the new iPad had the problem is disconnected WIFI signal I have to be glued to the router, and I did everything he says is supported by the Apple and all other pages and forums regarding this problem is not solved and always disconnects when connected always disconnects again!! passing will be settled as no longer factory warranty although it has neither the three months I renewed new, please help because the investment has been great and I can not use only as "a mirror" I'm waiting a true solution, thanks ....

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes.  I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever.  My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems.  I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions.  So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme?  I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did.  Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems?  I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.
**Glad they didn't "moderate into extinction" your post yet, lol, Thank

  • Where is option to "disconnect wifi clients" from personal hotspot?

According to this Apple Knowledge Base article, there should be an option in Settings > Wifi to "disconnect wifi clients" who are connected to the iPhone via personal hotspot: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4517
I do not see that in the Settings. I am on an iPhone 4, iOS 5.01, AT&T. Does anyone else see this? Was it removed in an iOS update? The KB article says it was updated December 14, 2011, so it should be pretty current.

I too was looking for it and it's. It in my iPhone 4 AT&T 5.0.1 Perhaps it's not in this firmware update, in another location or apple decided to axe this option.
Perhaps they reason that if you're going to disconnect all users, and leaving wifi sharing on was redundant as the wifi will cease to hotspot after 90 seconds anyways, it probably saves battery life... I dunno all I can think of.

  • HT1459 can I disconnect wifi access on my daughter's ipod touch?

Password protect your WiFi connection (really should be anyway). She will need to know the password to log in.

  • Apple TV 3 (5.1.1) Home Sharing to Mac 10.8.2 consistently disconnects WiFi

    Hi All,
I know there are several similar threads out there but none seem to have enough specifics about the situation for me to resolve it or trace the ultimate cause of the issue.  I am hoping if I lay out my setup someone
The main problem is:  If I watch a TV Show / Movie via HomeSharing I can only watch 1-2 minutes before it disconnects.  Wireless drops and then restablishes on the ATV.  No other devices have connectivity issues with WiFi connection including 2x MacBookPro's and the MacMini running HomeSharing, iPad 3g, iPodTouch 3g, iPhone 5.  I tried several different shows and some issue with all.  So, I tried watching the same show which caused the disconnect via iCloud...  It works! Not a single drop out when watching via Internet.  But what about my non Apple purchased content...  I need this to work.
    Apple TV is running 5.1.1
    Mac Mini is running 10.8.2
      iTunes is 11.0.1 (12)
Homesharing is turned on and enabled.
I have restored the image via Internet, I have reconfigured everything on the ATV.  I have ensured router and AP are running the latest firmware although I never had this issue on older builds of the ATV OS.  But I have updated several things in my setup recently (iTunes, Mountain Lion from Lion, ATV 5.1.1) and cannot pinpoint the cause.
    Here is my Setup.
Apple Tv ----> Wireless AP---->Linksys Router------> Cable Modem
                              ^
    Mac Mini ---------|
Both Devices connect at Wireless N.  AP shows good signal for both devices.
My Final Step is to try and restore via iTunes but as I read this doesn't work with iTunes 11 I may have already exhausted everything I can thing of.
    Any other suggestions greatfully received.

OK,  so I successfully updated the Apple TV via iTunes and USB cable.  Sadly it did not resolve the problem.
45s into the show, it stopped and returned the main menu with WiFi disconnected.  5-10 secs later and it's reconnected and home sharing is available again.
    I then found these threads:
    1) https://discussions.apple.com/message/19750601#19750601
    2) https://discussions.apple.com/message/20506178#20506178
I therefore tried the recommended "Downgrade" to 5.0.2 and can verify that it seems to be working!
10mins in and no disconnect.  I will update after further testing.
However If you find this thread, I would recommend downgrading to 5.0.2 from either 5.1 or 5.1.1
Let me know how this goes for you.
    C.

  • Disconnect wifi and use usb instead on officiate pro 8600 plus

I've had to disconnect my wifi network on the printer.  however the printer will not register the change, and refuses to stop wifi blue light blinking, ordering me to turn on wifi to operate printer, which I can't do.  I can't get the wireless demand to turn off so I can print with an usb cord.  my mac does not have a disc drive.  i've gone through all my other support options and desperately need your assistance.  thanks so much!  jazz

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you trying to use a USB connection instead of wireless, with your HP Officejet pro 8600 plus. I am happy to help!  The printer can be reset to factory defaults by selecting Setup Menu > Tools > Restore Factory defaults > Yes. Once this is done, if you had the software installed on your Mac as a wireless connection already, you will need to Uninstall the Printer Software, and then re-install the software, by downloading the full feature software and drivers. If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos. Hope this resolves your issue, and thank you for posting!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Frequently disconnecting Wifi in T400

    Hi all..
I had got Thinkpad T400 recently,my wifi is frequently getting disconnected which is really frustrating. Is there any solution for this problem.
My wifi is Intel WiFi link 5100
    Thanks

The default setting for the wireless adapter is to allow turning off the adapter when on battery.
    To change:
    1. Right click the Wireless Connection.
    2. Click Properties.
    3. Click the Configure button.
    4. On the Power Management Tab, remove the "Check" on the line; "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

  • E61 Unable to disconnect wifi

    Please can you help!!
I have just had delivery of my E71. Perfect the best phone I have ever had.
I still have an e61. The battery is being drained because I am unable to disconnect the wifi connection to my router. In settings it says I am unable to edit the connection. If I disconnect the connection the screen goes white and then restarts and also the connection is live again.
    Thanks

The symbol probably means that WLAN are available. You can stop the phone scanning for WLAN in Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Wireless LAN -> Show Availability -> Never.

  • How to stop iPod touch from disconnecting WiFi

I often use my iPod touch while I'm doing work for long periods of time and I like to listen to pandora or shoutcast stations, but every so often, if I don't actually do anything with my iPod, it will disconnect from the AP I'm associated with. I assume this is some sort of power saving "feature." Is there some way to make it stop doing this? Thanks in advance for any help.

A "feature" of Pandora is to disconnect after 30 minutes unless your iPod is plugged in. I'm not sure if the iPod perceives that nothing is active and shuts down the WiFi or if it is a Pandora problem.
The way you describe the issue makes me think that it is an iPod power saving feature. Any chance you can leave your touch plugged in during these periods?

  • Latest firmware disconnects wifi

Every firmware update since 7.6.1 tends to disconnedt my mac from wifi. I have now tried every version but I have to roll back every time to 7.6.1. because that version seems most stable.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Disconnect WiFi while keeping it active

    Hello Everyone,
i connected my iMac via Ethernet to an AirPort Extreme while using my MacBook Air over WiFi.
Since Maps and AirDrop only work with WiFi Active my iMac will connect to my AirPort as soon as WiFi is activated.
Before Mavericks i just didn´t connect to my AirPort on the iMac and kept it active, but since Mavericks is syncing WiFi Settings through all my devices it is connecting to WiFi automatically.
Is there a Way to manually disconnect the WiFi on the iMac without deleting the Profile (which would delete my Settings on the MacBook Air, right?) and keep WiFi active and connect through WiFi when ever i need it?
I hope my writing is not to confusing, sorry
    Best Regards,
    Christian

If you have the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, can you not go there and turn the Wi-Fi off? System Preferences/Network - select Wi-Fi and turn it off.
It can cause the computer to rename itself is the only problem I am aware of.

  • Ipod disconnects wifi router!

When i get connected to wifi with my ipod, after 2-3 minutes surfing web or just staying connected to internet it disconnects my wifi router, therefore i can't use internet on my PC which is directly connected to wifi router via Ethernet cable and the only way to get internet back on is to restart wifi router and as soon as i turn ipod back on it does the same thing again. does anyone know what i should do?
    Linksys SRX400
    Security Mode: WPA/WAP2 Personal
    Encryption:TKIP/AES
    ipod mac address permitted...
    ipod 8GB 1st generation ver 2.2

First off, download the latest firmware for your router and install it. That may fix the problem. If it doesn't and the router is still locking up, you might want to invest in a new router but this does not sound like an iPod problem.

  • Ethernet connection automatically disconnects Wifi

    Hi everybody,
The subject of the message says it all, but i just want to make it clear:
    I have a T420 laptop which has a Win7-64 bit OS.
Everytime I connect an Ethernet Lan cable, My wifi connection automatically disconnects.
This is very very frustrating. I tried looking up the web for a solution and did the followings:
    1. Updated the Wifi and the Ethernet Drivers.
    2. Set the Transmit Power to "5. Highest"
    3. Removed the checkbox of the power management "allow the computer to turn off this device.."
    4. Set the Metric manually to have higher priority over the lan
all these solutions did not help at all.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?
i don't understand, in my company we have several laptops with the same problem, and i can't seem to find
any solution on the web, doesn't anyone have this problem?
i would appreciate any possible solution
    Thanks in advance,
    Shay

    hi attiass,
Was reading through the thread and there is really good support here. I just wanted to add to what trpplec was talking about. you will first need to go to
"Control Panel" > "Lenovo - Internet Connections"
Once the Access connections has been opened
Click on the "Options" Tab > Uncheck the "Allow the wireless LAN radio to be turned off when inactive"
Hope this gives you a clearer picture.
Do let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • Continuously disconnecting wifi

How do I keep my phone from continuously disconnecting from a home wifi?

Turn off the router, then turn back on. Then go to settings, general, reset, reset network settings. Also if that doesnt do it, then go to settings wifi, tap on the arrow to the right of the name of your wifi, and then click forget this network. Then go all the way out and reset your phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. Then try again.
