2.1.0.1526 software update stuck in the middle

Hi, I have connected my playbook to laptop and downloading the 2.1.0.1526 software on to my playbook.. For some reason it is stuck at installing module 32 of 46 for the last 1.5 hrs. At this point it looks like i cant cancel the update..would my playbook become unusable if i disconnect from the blackberry desktop software and force cancel it? I have backed up the playbook before this update..Not sure how long i need to wait. Please advise. Thanks. ,

Is the playbook connected to laptop for power purposes and you are downloading the update via wireless or did you download the update to the laptop and doing the update via connection to laptop..If you are connected to laptop for power/charging..that method does not offer enough power for a charge..via the wall plug is the recommended and only working method other than purchasing a rapid charger for about $40 which uses the three prong connection on the bottom of the PB..As for removing the PB now in the middle of the update, I am not sure...If you do, worse comes to worse, you may have to zeroize the notebook and start over again...just dont use the usb to laptop for power anymore

  • Is Software Update downloading in the background when tethered to an iPhone?

Often I use my laptop tethered to an iPhone 4 and surf the internet through personal hotspot. How can I be sure that Software Update is not downloading huge updates using iPhone's 3G expensive data plan? And if it does, can I prevent it?
    Thanks!

Go to System Preferences (under the apple) and Software Update is about the middle of the "Systems" line.  On the bottom of the Pref panel for SW Update there are check boxes for checking automatically and downloading automatically.  If you spend any significant amount of time attached via an expensive or slow connection, turn them both off.
I would turn off "download automatically" under any circumstances -- when you are trying to do something and it runs really slowly, it's pretty frustrating to realize that it's because your computer was downloading 500MB of printer driver updates for a printer that broke and you threw in the trash two years ago!

Be patient. Apple just released IOS 6.1 and their servers are inundated with downloads. The network link between you and Apple may also have some undisclosed throughput or latency issues.
I just updated to IOS 6.1 and it took much longer than I expected.

  • Software Update: Stuck on White Apple Screen

Hi, I hope someone could help me fix this.
I ran software update and got (iPhoto, itunes, Security patch) so I ran it and downloaded everything except the Intel Security Patch. So I restarted and decided to try again.
Restart didn't work as it got stuck and I had to reach around and restart by holding down the power button.
When it came back up, I got the white screen with the grey apple logo and the spinning clock like icon..... spinning and that is where I am stuck, left it off all night and tried it in the morning, same thing.
I would try to start up from the OSX disk except I have a DVD in the machine.
I am thinking it was that security update that didn't download fully that is doing this but how do I get the imac, "unstuck"? or how do I manually eject that DVD to put in a OSX start up disk?
    flustered.
    thanks.

    Hi flashboy131,
I had this exact problem a couple of weeks ago - I think the problem was that the software update attempted to do the 10.4.7 Combo update (I was 10.4.5 at the time) at the same time as a firmware update (to 1.1f5). Did you do these simultaneously as well?
Anyway, after a number of days of messing around with disk utility, safe boot etc... I discovered a load of corrupt startup items which when resolved allowed me to boot into the OS, but even after that a couple of frameworks were corrupt/missing and caused many applications to crash. Tried to fix it for a while but ended up cutting my losses and doing an archive and install, followed by 'careful' software updating - you learn the hard way I suppose!
Don't mean to be negative - your problem may be easily sorted but this was my experience. As a first step, boot into your OS X DVD, open disk utility and repair disk and permissions. If this doesn't work try to isolate your startup items.
Let us know how you get on

  • Software Update stuck: "Moving files into place"

Software Update stuck. In OS C Lion (10.7.4) I ran Software Update on 25-Jul-2012 (The day when OS X Mountain Lion was released). Software Update had 5 updates, such as Safari 6.0, Remote Desktop, iPhoto (?). Software update gets about 95% done, based on the progress bar. Then it hangs... for hours. I finally had to force-Quit Software Update. Rebooted. Tried again. Same problem. Rebooted and rest the PRAM (command-option-P-R) at start-up. Ran Software Update and had the same problem. Software Update hangs while "Moving files into place." Has anyone else seen this problem and know how to get it to work?

I discovered that if I selected only one update at a time to install, all but one installed (i.e., Remote Desktop, Safari 6, and iWork update). The one update that did not install was the iPhoto update. I had left the install to run overnight (about 7 hours). Console log for /var/log/install.log when installing iPhoto update follows:

My Mac wont let me download anything, even software updates. it runs the whole download then restarts but tells me an error has occurred.
Please help! Nothing will download and i have a loading bar on start up!!!
The mac hasn't ever given me any problems, it has been since plugging my new iphone 4s into it,
As i havent had internet at my home for quite some time i dont know whether the fact the iphone was at a much newer version than the mac it confused itself????? help me please!?

    Hi there,
If you go to the Apple equivalent of: Appdata\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates (sorry am a mere PC user )
If there is a file titled iphone1,22.1_5F136Restore then try deleting it and then running iTunes without your iPhone attached.
Go to the menu and select Help/Software Updates which should then notify you that there are updates and allow you to download them in advance of restoring.
Hopefully this will download the update. Once completed attach the iPhone and restore.
Hopefully this might sort your issue out.
    Ciao

It seems that I should have first updated Safari, and then only to Lion, which I didn't. Any idea how I can fix this now without having to rollback to Snow Leopard, update Safari and then go back to Lion?

Try this Safari5.1 from the installer package

The download worked better with Firefox not sure why. At the bottom of the page after the captcha>> slow down load is the Free link,  it took about 4 minutes to download on my test.

That is true - I apologize for not being specific - what I was mainly referring to is iLife applications. I have a notice on the App Store that says 3 apps need updates, I look at the apps and they are huge so since my connection is so slow I use my work connection and d'load the files from support to my Windows machine and carry them home, once d'loaded my MacAir states it cannot install, the update must come from the App Store.
I do the same thing for large Leopard and Lion files and I can install them without error, it is just the App Store files that the system stops.

Perhaps check to see if you're accidentally running two different versions of iTunes. There's some information on troubleshooting that in the Opening iTunes section of the following document:

You can reset the password with the install disk.

  • I have an iMac OS X Version 10.5.8 but I also have a MacBookPro 10.7.5 version, why software updates are not the same? For example, when I want to know how much memory can not store in the same way in either computer.

I have an iMac OS X Version 10.5.8 but I also have a MacBookPro 10.7.5 version, why software updates are not the same? For example, the way to see how much memory I have in my iMac is diferent than MacBookPro. And where I can see the memory of the disc I've got in my iMac? Than you very much.

If you want everything the same on both computers you need to be running the same OS X version. You can't because your iMac is a PPC machine, not Intel.
But to see information about your hard drive is the same for both. Simply select the drive icon on the Desktop. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Disk information is in the upper panel.
