2.1.1 is synching correctly now.

Since version 2.0.1, I have had terrble problems with the Podcasts app. I had tried 2.1.1 and still had the same problems. I was not able to get my iPhone to synch with iTunes my computer over USB. I have limited bandwidth and found that it was the only way I could synch and not blow up my bandwidth. I installed 2.1.1 earlier today and found it to be unsuccessful, deleted it, reinstalled 2.0 and complained about 2.1.1.
But I decided to try one more time and checked the settings carefully.
I installed Podcasts 2.1.1 one more time on my iPhone.
On my iPhone I went into Settings > Podcasts.
I turned on Sync Podcasts (actually left it on).
Set Refresh Every to Manually
Limit Episodes to Off
Download Episodes to Off
Delete Played Episodes to Off
Use Cellular data to Off
Everything is working as it is supposed to, and as an added bonus, the "Cellular data is truned off" warning seems to have disappeared.
It shouldn't be this difficult, but at least Apple seems to have produced an update that functions.

I must say that the solution to my problem has turned out to be more than a little ironic.
A number of suggestions to fix my problem involved the 'shift' or 'option' clicking of the restore button in iTunes in order to pick the firmware to install.
Attempt after attempt yielded no results as the programme wasn't recognising the folder where the firmware was located.
Out of desperation, I downloaded 2.2 using Firefox instead of Safari, and - lo and behold - it worked.
Any time I downloaded the firmware using Safari (who makes that browser again?) it was uncompressed and split into its individual bits instead of keeping it together so iTunes could recognise it.

weird very weird. today i did this again today after already being unsuccessful earlier. exactly the same thing as i have done before, exactly. didn't try to import. didn't say damaged library, copied everything in including date. have tried it about 10 times no luck. today it just worked.
how weird is that?

It sounds as though it doesn't think that you are typing in the correct answers.
If it's not accepting them and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

ICal (4.0.4 (1395.7)) on Mountain Lion 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro 13" not synching correctly to iPhone 3GS

iCal has stopped synching calendars correctly with my iPhone 3GS. I am syncing via iTunes, not via the cloud; I have the latest patches for Mountain Lion; I cannot upgrade the machine's OS, because I need Rosetta. The iPhone is running the latest version of iOS Apple has pushed, but this began a couple of patches ago - I was holding off on the latest because of Reasons, and upgraded hoping the upgrade would fix it. It didn't. I also have the latest version of iTunes for Mountain Lion.
Symptoms:
No appointments made on the phone, in any calendar, make it into iCal. (I have five calendars that used to sync; all stopped at once.)
Old appointments made in iCal before this started happening still sync correctly from iCal to the phone.
New appointments made in iCal sometimes make it onto the phone, and sometimes do not. I haven't been able to detect a pattern.
When new appointments made iCal do make it onto the phone, they are correct, except that there is always a second ghost appointment also created, only on the phone, called "New Entry." It will have the same time and date information as the actual appointment, and be listed as the correct calendar, but will contain none of the associated appointment data.
I have tried:
Upgrading phone to latest iOS version
Desyncing all calendars from phone, then resynching them.
Telling iTunes to overwrite all calendar data on sync. (I know this actually happened, because appointments I'd made on the phone which had not synched disappeared after overwrite was initiated.)
Resetting phone to factory and reapplying everything from scratch. (This was the most recent action, two weeks ago, was a huge pain.)
None of these resulted in any change in observed behaviour.
What is new in the last few days is that until now, all iCal appointments had been making it to the phone, so as long as I made the appointments in iCal first, I could at least know of them while in the field. Alas, that is no longer the case.
Any ideas?

Have new computer with new Windows 7, Palm m105, and 4.1.4 palm desktop, trying to get it to synch correctly.

With new computer I have had to add a USB serial converter to the hot synch cradle. I spent most of the day trying to get the new serial converter to be recognized so that a synch could be performed. It now will synch when I put the palm in the cradle. After installing 4.1.4, In order to get everything to work, I took a recent historicalbackup version of my palmOne program file folder in the Program files, and replaced the entire folder with my historical version. When I opened the desktop software, all my data appears to be there, except that many of my previous entries in the Calendar are now three hours earlier than they used to be and some are moved to an adjacent day. My palm still has the correct information, but a custom synch to overwrite the desktop data with the handheld data produces no change, even though it went through a long synching process. I also have an older computer that has a complete backup copy of everything and the palm software in that one is working properly, so what should I do to correct the data in my Calendar on my new laptop?

It looks like you will need to "clean" uninstall Palm desktop and re-install.
Here are the clean uninstall instructions for XP, see if the palm folders are in the same location. We have not received any info. on windows 7 and how Palm desktop syncs with this version.
You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy.
Then go to your PC desktop, right click on a blank spot and select paste.
If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
For Palm desktop 6.2, look in the following location for the folders and files, my documents, PalmOS desktop. You will find the username folder in this location.
Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder, delete the Palm folder. Once this is done, you will need to delete some registry keys
from your PC Operating System registry.
Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
to not start up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything
they need to delete. To retain your current Registry settings, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
On the PC, go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As
box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents or you can change to a location you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup[todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Next, the hard part.
The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
BUT do not turn off your computer.

Next reboot your computer
Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
you for a username, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right corner of the hotsync screen and sync.

Synched calendar now double entries

i just installed icloud on my desktop and it synched my calendar and contacts (like i wanted) but.... now in the calendar (on outlook, my ipad and my ipod) have double entries. i had done the icloud thing with the ipod and ipad last week but today installed outlook 10. so, when everything synched, i have a mess. what do i do now? do i have to go through and delete the second entry of each item?

no help here so i just bull dogged my way through and deleted all the extra entries. when the cloud sync'ed all the calendars got corrected.

I think my ipod touch is set to camera mode and I need to switch it back. When I hoook it up to my computer it thinks I am hooking up a camera and wants to download pics. It used to read it as an ipod and automatically synch. Now it doesn't do that. HELP

When I first got my ipod, I would hook it up to my computer and it would automatically synch with my itunes. But then I took some pictures with my ipod and downloaded the pics. Now everytime I hook up my ipod to my computer, it reads it as a camera and asks if I want to download pics. It is driving me crazy. I haven't used my ipod as a camera since that one time, and I need to get it back to automatically synching when I hook it up. It's like it is not being recognized as an ipod. Is there something I can do to get my ipod out of camera mode and back to ipod mode. Also, i got a speaker system to hook up my ipod to and it is not "picking up" the ipod when I hook it up. the music will not come out of the speakers and I think again it is an issue of my ipod being in "camera" mode. To reset the printing system:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Scan from the View menu.
Hold down the Option key while clicking the "-" (Remove printer) button. If no printers are currently added, hold down the Control key while clicking in the box that appears above the "+" (Add printer) button, then choose Reset printing system… from the contextual menu.
When you've done the above you'll need to re-add the printer by clicking the + (Add printer)

Installed 200 fonts into Font Book, webpages not displaying correctly now.

My wife accidentally installed a ton of fonts from my collection into Font Book. Now most webpages won't display properly. I deleted most of the fonts, but certain webpages still don't look right/display the correct font. I need to know how to restore Font Book to it's default, or basically get me back to where I was before all this happened. I've tried using Font Finagler to clean my font caches, but that didn't work. I've also tried getting rid of any fonts in Home/Library/Fonts. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

If after reinstalling your fonts your still have issues, then Font Book's database may be damaged, along with the system's font cache files. To reset each, do the following.
First, follow the steps in Undoing Font Book.
Then follow this additional step.
Download and run Mark Douma's Font Finagler to clear the font cache files on the system.

Ipod updater 2006-01-10: VIDEOS NOT playing correctly now...........

i updated to 1-10-06 ipod software & having problems. i have several vid i converted using videora. worked great till now. Now about 20 sec into my vid, my ipod will pause for about 5 seconds, like its thinking about wether it likes my video, then continues. i was not having this problem before i updated my ipod to 2006 software. videos still play fine in itunes. i have reformated ipod & reinstalled with no luck.
i tried to download the older software, 2005-11-17, wich is listed on apple downloads but when i open it, its the 2006 updater.
this is really annoying. did apple put some frickin bug in there for non purchased vid? how can i get old updater software bck on my ipod. help.

Recurring appointments do not synch correctly usin...

When creating Meetings/Appointments in Lotus Notes using custom repeat pattern, eg. Monday 1pm-4pm, Wednesday 8am-10am, etc., and then synchronizing to the phone (Nokia 6300), only the first appointment shows on the telefon.
I had the impression that PC Sync will expand the original repeating entries into a set of individual instances.
Is this not true? What do we miss here?
Also when choosing "every frist friday of the month" starting eg. on the 6th of march would repeat on every 6th of every month but not on the 1st Friday....
Normal repeating appointments like every week etc. work fine.
We use:
- Nokia 6300 (FW 7.21
- Lotus Notes v6.5.5
- Nokia PC Suite v7.1.18.0
- Windows XP en SP2
- USB Cable connection
I have seen similar threads, eg one thread in this forum called "Syncing recurring calendar events on S40 mobiles" but there were no answers to it.
Is this a know issue? Is it a question of telefon model used? Will this problem be solved?

Outlook 2003 SP3
I found a workaround in the web (it's no real solution) for Outlook.
You need Excel for this Workaround.
Maybe there is an similar way for notes.
First you have to export yout appointments to an excel file.
You can achieve this in Outlook under File/ Import-Export. her starts an assistent und you can export your appointments in an Excel file (you can choose a FROM-TO-Date).
Open the Excel file and you see every single appointment. The recurring appointments are single appointments in the file.
Delete every appointment except the recurring (now single) appointments.
Import the Excle file into your calendar. You can overwrite or keep the old appointments. If you keep it, you have a recurring and a single appointment at the same time, so I propose overwriting.
Before you try this the first time, I recommend to save your Outlook pst-file before trying.
If you synchronize now with your mobile phone, the single appointments (former recurring appointments) are synchronized correctly.
In Outlooks it makes no big difference.You still have your recurring appointments. The only disadvantage ist, that you need a little more HD-space and that you can't delete the appointments all at one time.

IPhoto: Synch iPod Now Opens iPhoto (after "Camera Raw Update")

On November 5, 2008, I let software update install Apple's "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update version 2.3 (4.3MB)". Now, plugging my iPod Touch (1G) into USB port on my MacBook Pro laptop causes iPhoto to start (and eventually the expected iTunes starts as well).
Prior to that upgrade, iPhoto did NOT start up when I plugged my iPod in. Prior to that upgrade, only iTunes started up (as expected).
Yes, I know there's a preference setting in iPhoto to tell it not to startup when a camera is plugged in. However, I think Apple should investigate and see if they've introduced a "bug" with this update.
By the way, I do NOT have synch of photos toggled on for the iPod. So, that doesn't explain this unexpected behavior of iPhoto starting up when the iPod is plugged into the USB port.

I discovered that I accidentally took a picture of the iPod Touch's main screen (by doing Sleep+Home buttons at same time). This saved a picture (*.jpg?) on the iPod. Once I deleted this picture, then iPhoto stopped opening up whenever I connected the iPod to my MacBook Pro.
Thus, my problem was pilot error.

2.1.1 is synching correctly now.
