2.1 EA1: Connection Dialog / Properties doesn't show anymore

Hi all,
i'm using SQL Developer on various machines, all running Windows XP (German) SP 2 or 3, for Java i use the one downloaded with SQL Developer.
Now it happend, that i can't open the Connection Dialog anymore, so i can't configure any new connection.
If i want to check properties of an existing connection this dialog isn't displayed either.
Mouse Cursor changes to sandclock for a very short moment and thats all.
Any ideas?

On 2 of my 3 Computers i had a previous version and copied the new files over the old ones, on the third one i never had sql developer before. So this Problem doesn't seem to be connected to a previous installation as it happens on all 3 machines.

[LR 3.5] An old bug is back : import dialog sometimes doesn't show up

Sometimes, when I use the Synchronize Folder command or when I click on the Import... button, the Import dialog doesn't show up (sometimes meaning here "very often"). Obviously, the dialog has been loaded because at this time, LR is in a modal state (you can't use any user interface element - you just get a beep when clicking anywhere in the main window). The dialog is here but it is not visible. I'm using a dual monitor setup but the problem also occurs when I de-activate the secondary display.
I already encountered this bug in previous versions and I thought it had been fixed. Unfortunately, it is back. When this happens, I have to reboot the system to get the Import dialog working correctly again. A logoff / logon is not enough. Killing the LR process doesn't help either. I'm running XP Pro SP3, 3GB of memory, /3GB switch enabled (disabling it doesn't change anything).

Actually, it can happen that when the Import dialog is in this hidden state, trying to close Lightroom causes a message box to appear : "Do you want to close the Import dialog and quit?" (or something like that). Well, I don't want to close it, I want to see it !

HT1386 i got a used ipod touch and when I connect it - it doesn't show up on my computer. I have an Itunes account and it does not show my device at all. any clue what I', doing wrong? The ipod is on and plugged in

I am having trouble - when I turn on my ipod touch - the only thing on the screen is a usb cable with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo. I got it from a friend who cleared all of his stuff off of it. I can't get any of the stuff I downloaded on it. maybe it didn't sync with my computer. it doesn't show up when I go to the itunes store on the top bar next to the library tab either. HELP ! lol

ITunes doesn't show anymore downloaded status of apps

After I bought an app in iTunes, on the small tab beside the app, instead of the price showing 0.99, or whatever the price was, it used to say 'downloaded'.
This was helpful, so I knew right away which app I have bought and which I haven't, so I wouldn't need to download it again.
But now, it doesn't show this anymore. That little price tab shows only the price of the app, no matter if I already bought it or not. So if I forget that I already downloaded a certain app, I have to download it again (not pay for it, but anyway I waste my time and my monthly GB Internet usage).
What I did was, I just pressed the 'reset iTunes store cache' and 'reset all dialog warnings', from Edit/Preferences/Advanced Preferences, starting from the Edit tab of the iTunes.
What can I do now, to have again the specification 'downloaded' on the little tab of the already bought apps?

I am trying to get Apple support, but the first answer was total wrong. Apple support thought I want to remove purchase:
"I understand you would like to remove an iTunes Store purchase and I will do my best to assist you.
To hide or show items on your Purchased page, follow the instructions in these articles:"
I replied it with a more detail info. I will let you know if I get the answer from them.

My external hard drive doesn't show anymore

I hope you can help me. Today I wanted to put new data on my WD hard drive, I have it for almost a year and always worked fine (it's just USB, no power necessary). But my External HD was almost full so I deleted the "time machine" back-ups. Now, my Macbook Pro or iMac doesn't show my WD in Finder. I can find it in Disk Utility but only for a few seconds. Can someone please help me by giving some tips or own experiences? Thanks!

If you want LR to show the full path of a directory tree as it is on an actual drive, you are going to have to fool it into showing it to you.
a) Place a COPY of a photo, ANY photo, in the directory/folder that you want to show as the root of your folder tree in LR.
b) Using "Import Photos from disk" import ONLY the photo that you placed in the 'root' folder, by DOUBLE-CLICKING on it so that only it is imported.
c) After the import, your folder structure should now look the way that you want it to in LR, matching the actual drive structure from the root upwards.
d) Using LR, delete the photo that you used as a placeholder. The LR Folder structure should remain intact.

Re: Equium - S-Video connection to TV doesn't work anymore

I used to be able to clone or extend my desktop onto external tv's using the s-video connection. This has all of a sudden stopped, the cable is fine as are the tv's as I've tried them with other laptops, and the s-video port in the laptop looks and feels solid. So physically things seem fine.
I have tried updating drivers, flashing BIOS, upgrading to Windows 7, running the restore disks created when the laptop was first bought. VGA and HDMI ports work perfectly but I need to use s-video and I go to a switcher that only has phono video inputs.
Does anyone have any fixes for this or anyone know of a switcher that has red yellow and white phono ins and well as HDMI or VGA in?
Any ideas would be well much appreciated

Oddly with the bios settings, i did discover a setting which when turned on caused the s-video output to work, but only during the post. And even then the picture is poor and flashes on and off on off etc, but a regular flash.
Until then i was beginning to think it was a connection problem (that maybe my s-video connection on the laptop was damaged) but when this worked, it discounted this theory.
But as soon as windows loaded, the tv recieving the input.
So naturally i assumed operating system or driver issue, but ive restored to factory settings, and even tried windows 7 on it at one stage as well as many many driver versions and still no joy.
(note - i am back to vista, purely cos i know it has worked with it before)

'Open a File' dialog box doesn't show 'Favorites'

Notice there are no 'Favorites' on the left. I have to 'browse' for my file each time. I have a ton of files on the network, and it takes several clicks to get to them. Annoying when I'm opening several files a day. The 'Recent Places' isn't too helpful here either.
Now look at what happens in InDesign CC, Windows 7 with a File/Open:
Look at all the 'Favorites' and easy browsing on the left side. Why are the 'Open a File' dialog boxes so different in CS6 and CC? I want the CS6 'Open' dialog to be just like the CC one. (I prefer to use CS6, CC is buggy on my system.)

What it is... is cumbersome and un-necessary. Every other program in Windows (even Word Pad) opens with the 'standard' dialog with Favorites on the left. Why did Adobe program it differently? There has to be a fix in Preferences or something...

TS2972 My library connects, but it doesn't show the option to import from my laptop to my computer. How do I import?

The firewll isn't an issue.
They are both authorized and signed into the same account.
They are both connected to the same network connection.
Both libraries show on both computers.
itunes is up to date on both computers.
Why won't it let me import?
Windows 8 on computer, Windows 7 on laptop.

My BB accidently disconnected from the usb cord while I was copying a music file. Now the computer wont let me use it. The Blackberry usb folder doesn't show anymore. How do I fix that?

My phone is connected because you can see the phone is charging but there is nothing on the conputer showing me that i can access the files on my blackberry. I noticed right after the accident a Blackbery( L: ) file appeared on the 'my computer' folder with nothing in it- it was there without the usb connection from my phone(well, the connection to my pc from my phone didnt work from then on anyway). I thought it was peculiar so i deleted it. I was having second thoughts so i tried to retrieve it but its not in the Recycle Bin. How do I fix this problem, please help me!

My IPod has gone quiet and part of the screen doesn't show anymore.

My purse fell with my IPod in it yesterday and now most of the screen has gone blank although the backlight covers the whole screen. I can scroll down and choose songs, which do come up, but they don't actually play. So that means the sound is shot too.
It is just the middle 2 1/2 lines that show. No battery icon and no track progress line. I have tried resetting it and plugging it in, but that does not work.
I have AppleCare and am thinking of taking it in to a local service provider from the list on this site, but am not sure if that will work.
It was originally bought in December 2004 and already replaced once at the end of 2005 because of battery issues. The AppleCare was purchased just after that.
Will it still be possible, do you think, to get it repaired or replaced again?

i bought my ipod last may and a few months after my dog got ahold of it a chewed on the screen. a few weeks after it did that only the bottom left part of the screen would show and itunes wouldn't read my ipod so i could put new music on it but it would let it charge and today it finally read it and i put new music on it but when i disconnected it, it wouldn't turn on and it wouldn't do anything even when i connected it to the computer. i tried to reset it but it won't work. can't find any help on apple support. i don't kno what to do now! can anyone help me??

[Solved] Gnome 3.8 - doesn't show end session dialog shutdown.

Hi, After my last update, when i try to shutdown by gnome menu, the 'end session dialog' display doesn't shows, and gnome-shell restarts. The same with command 'gnome-session-quit --power-off'. If i try the second time, gnome crash and all extensions are disabled. After that, if i try another time, the system go in shutdown without show me end session dialog.

IPod Appears As Connected But Doesn't Show Up On iTunes

I synced my ipod (an 80GB Classic) the night before and when I turned it on later it was like a clean slate; no music, no videos, just some pictures. Well I tried to sync it today but itunes prompted me to restore it to its factory settings because there had been an error. Now when I try to connect it, it doesn't show up on my itunes even though my ipod itself shows connection has been made. I have tried "the 5 R's", have the latest version of itunes and still all I have to show are the same few pictures... I've only had it for a little over two months and have had no problems prior to this, can someone please help?

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

iPod says it's "connected" but it doesn't show up on iTunes. I've tried to reset it but can't figure out how to restore it. Everything on the ipod has been erased and it keeps freezing...

ok, ive been having the dame problem as the guy/girl who posted it i went to the site and i restarted the iPod service, that didn't work, then i uninstalled itunes and it showed up in itunes the first time i pluged my it in but a message, i thnk it was "-48" something about not being able to sync but it synced all the songs but the next time i plugged it didn't show up in itunes and a message in the bottom syaing "Windows - Delayed Write Failed, Windows was unable to save all the data for the file I:\ipod.control
can anyone help me my 80g classic isn't even a year old
