2.1 & Exchange Setup

Greetings,
Everything was working fine before I upgraded. Things seem to be okay afterwards, but the unit was heating up and the batter was draining very quickly. I figured there was some run-away process so I restored my phone without the backup option. When I go to add my exchange account, I fill in all the info for the first screen and then wait......and wait......and watch the sun go down....and wait some more....
All other email setups are fine and it seems that everything in general is working. I just can't get through the exchange setup. We use exchange 2003. When I set it up before, I would be prompted on a second page for the ActiveSync server. I never get that far since I've upgraded.
Any ideas?

I managed to get it working. I put in false entries in the fields (e.g. [email protected]). It then came back almost immediately and requested the server. I was able to edit the fields and put the correct info (e.g. username, domain etc) and it works correctly now.
I did notice that I wasn't asked to put in a pass code per the security policy of my company. Either it's a bug or they now check for an existing pass code before requesting a new one.

  • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 Migration and Architect a resilient and high availability exchange setup

    Hi,
I currently have a single Exchange 2010 Server that has all the roles supporting about 500 users. I plan to upgrade to 2013 and move to a four server HA Exchange setup (a CAS array with 2 Server as CAS servers  and one DAG with 2 mailbox Servers). My
goal is to plan out the transition in steps with no downtime. Email is most critical with my company.
Exchange 2010 is running SP3 on a Windows Server 2010 and a Separate Server as archive. In the new setup, rather than having a separate server for archiving, I am just going to put that on a separate partition.
Here is what I have planned so far.
    1. Build out four Servers. 2 CAS and 2 Mailbox Servers. Mailbox Servers have 4 partitions each. One for OS. Second for DB. Third for Logs and Fourth for Archives.
    2. Prepare AD for exchange 2013.
    3. Install Exchange roles. CAS on two servers and mailbox on 2 servers. Add a DAG. Someone had suggested to me to use an odd number so 3 or 5. Is that a requirement?
    4. I am using a third party load balancer for CAS array instead of NLB so I will be setting up that.
    5. Do post install to ready up the new CAS. While doing this, can i use the same parameters as assigned on exchange 2010 like can i use the webmail URL for outlook anywhere, OAB etc.
    6. Once this is done. I plan to move a few mailboxes as test to the new mailbox servers or DAG.
    7. Testing outlook setups on new servers. inbound and outbound email tests.
once this is done, I can migrate over and point all my MX records to the new servers.
Please let me know your thoughts and what am I missing. I like to solidify a flowchart of all steps that I need to do before I start the migration.
thank you for your help in advance

    Hi,
okay, you can use 4 virtual servers. But there is no need to deploy dedicated server roles (CAS + MBX). It is better to deploy multi-role Exchange servers, also virtual! You could install 2 multi-role servers and if the company growths, install another multi-role,
and so on. It's much more simpler, better and less expensive.
CAS-Array is only an Active Directory object, nothing more. The load balancer controls the sessions on which CAS the user will terminate. You can read more at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/05/load-balancing-in-exchange-2013.aspx Also there is no session affinity required.
First, build the complete Exchange 2013 architecture. High availability for your data is a DAG and for your CAS you use a load balancer.

  • Exchange setup via local address

    Hi Folks
Am trying to setup an iPad2 so that it connects to our exchange server locally via wifi. am trying to avoid it using proxy and external sites.
Has anyone managed to set one up this way as im struggling to get the exchange account setup to work. I can use safari and connect to the local address fine though which is odd?
    thanks

    Thanks for the reply
Its a wifi only model and its connecting to my windows 2008 r2 domain wireless network, we want to avoid using the proxy and letting the user have access to the web. Hence why were trying to configure it to use the local address for our exchange server. As i previously said, that address works via safari yet the mail exchange setup doesnt accept it.
    cheers

  • New Exchange setup and communication with current Firstclass email system

So I have a very interesting scenario....We plan to move to MS Exchange 2013 from a open source email called Firstclass.....we have one domain (we'll call it contoso.com for this example), we had a previous domain setup of contoso-school.org as well......our
current email system and acceptable addresses are both of those domain addresses....they are local DNS domains to us.....so for our Exchange we want these addresses to be acceptable in Exchange as well....but we also are going to add a new domain name to Exchange
which would be main email address....which would be contososchool.com....however the domain is owned by 3rd party that runs our website with domain name....so was not going to add to our DNS.
I have exchange setup and working as far as being able to send receive external emails and also have our current Firstclass email system able to send email to exchange users....but I cannot get exchange to email the firstclass account....anytime I try, it
just immediately shows up under my exchange account (there servers are all apart of the contoso.com domain).....I tried without having the other domain names added in as Acceptable domains but it still does the same thing....I think because the Exchange server
is part of the same domain as other email system its causing this...
Has anyone dealt with this type of situation...I hope I explained it ok
    Thanks

  • IOS 7 Exchange setup

I have the new iPhone 5S and have always had an exchange setup with our Google work email.  For some reason when I went from the 5 to the 5S it stoped working.  All it tells me over and over again is "Cannot connect to server"  I have my exchange setup like this:
Email address: my full email address  [email protected]
    Server: m.google.com
    Domain: left blank
Username: full email address again  [email protected]
Password: it is entered correctly (promise)
    Advanced Settings:
    Use SSL: on
    Deleted Mailbox: checked
    S/MIME: off
It still won't work.  However my other Exchange email works fine and it is setup the same just different email address.  this one uses a different domain name
    Help please

Yes I have it fixed...it's actually easier than I ever imagined..
remove your exchange and set it up on your phone using Google and just fill in your info..
YES it is that simple.  should work perfectly calendar contacts email...the whole thing.
Good luck although I don't think you'll need it.

  • Exchange setup error: "There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer"

     Hi,
i am trying to install Exchange 2007 SP1 in a Windows 2003 Server standard 32 bits version.
During the "Readiness checks" i received the next error in "Hub transport role prerequisites":
    Error:
There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer. This may happen if the Remote Registry service is not running; it may also indicate a network problem.
Remote Registry service is running. I've searched for the error in google and in some topics appears that the error is due to the "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing" is not installed in the LAN properties. The server has 2 network cards and in both of them is checked. One of the connections is disabled.
I dont know what more to do, any help will be appreciated.

    No, firewall is disabled.

  • Exchange Setup on MacBook Air

I am haviing trouble setting up my Exchange account for mail/calendar/contacts on my new MacBook Air.  I have no trouble with my IPhone 5 or my IPad.  Any reason why the setup would be different on the Air?

No, when I click on the calendar appointment, it does show an attachment.  When I look at my calendar through Outlook, the attachment is there.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please also check if you can prepare Active Directory and domains successfully.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224(v=exchg.150).aspx
Then please take your time to collect some information from the error file ‘C:\Users\administrator.E-NET\AppData\Local\Temp\1\ldif.err'. This will help us to troubleshoot this issue.
In addition, check if this issue caused by Windows Firewall Profile.

  • Exchange setup for multiple domains

We are planning to deploy Exchange server 2013, We have two companies and would like to create Email box for both the companies with same name.
Example : [email protected], [email protected]
We would like to have separte email boxes for the both companies. Please suggest us accordingly.

That should be simple enough. Exchange can handle having multiple domains for sending / receiving and users can have multiple mailboxes configured in Outlook. The name field in Exchange doesn't need to be unique (the account name does obviously), so for
instance there's no issue having "Fred Bloggs" <[email protected]> and "Fred Bloggs" <[email protected]> both setup.
In a way the trickier part is setting it up in Outlook since different versions react differently. If you're using Outlook 2013 it should be quite straight forward. As you can see here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee815819.aspx the manual setup is easy enough for multiple exchange mailboxes, though auto mapping should work as well. If you're in a network AD
environment (eg connecting using your local password), then realistically you'll want one mailbox to be primary which is associated to your network login, and then that login to have full access and send as permissions on the second mailbox.
You may also need to deploy a reg key change to enable saving sent items from the second mailbox into that mailboxes sent items folder rather then the primary mailboxes (assuming you want to keep messages two and from both domains separate and in their own
mailboxes). The reg key is listed here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2843677 and is definitely needed in Outlook 2007 and 2010 but I'm not sure if it's still an issue if you're using Outlook 2013.

  • Iphone ms exchange setup problems

    Folks, here's my setup:
    - MS Exchange 2003 sp2, IIS 6, OWA, Two form authentication - RSA Authentication web agent and Requires SSL with 128 bit encryption, self signed certificate.
    - 8gb iphone running 3g and 2.0 I believe
Problem is when setting up exchange on the iphone with the above setup it tells me that exchange information could not be verified, aslo tells me that it could not verify certificate.
I turned off SSL and RSA on IIS and I was able to verify my email on iphone. I then turned back on SSL & RSA and installed certicate from server on iphone but it owuld not verify the account, same error as above.
Is it because I am using a self-signed cert? Is it a limitaion of Active sync on the iphone? I can connect to my OWA over Safari on the iphone. Any help much appreciated?

Thank you for posting this, my first fancy new Iphone could not receive or send text messages. I thought this was pretty disappointing because my very first nokia 10 years ago had no issues with text messages, but an I phone couldn't handle it? Pretty ridiculous considering how much I pay for the SMS service! I am trying out all these options, connected to wifi to update my phone, and turned off my phone for 5 minutes and still can not send text messages. Any Ideas?

  • Iphone exchange setup keeps losing password

Verification was successful and all the exchange folders and contacts are on the iphone, but when I try and access the account I am prompted to enter my password, over and over and over. When I look in the settings all the other info is there, username, domain, exchange server but in the password field the gray "Required" is there, no dots to indicate a password. Then I edit the account, add the password again and the same thing happens. Password disappears and I am prompted to enter it whenever I try to access the email account.

Suggest you restart your IPhone and ensure you type the new Passcode.
    reason.
Before you completed setup you IPhone to the Exchange, that was a question asking you to type in the 6 digit Passcode, which is used to ensure your email been secure by protected by the IPHone password. Believe this is why you a having problem.
You may want to contact your exchange admin as your exchange account may been lock...
    Good luck.

  • IMAP Exchange setup sporadic sending problems

Hi guys, I setup my office exchange mailbox on my iphone with the help of others who are currently using IMAP to connect. So i got the address and ports needed to connect. At first I was connected fine, receive is fine, and sending was ok from the iphone. A week later I noticed I could not connect to the outgoing server. Then sometimes email would send, then a few hours later it wont. Then next day sending is ok then wont. It comes and goes and I cant figure it out. Hoping someone had this happen to them as well and has an insight. The other guys say they are having no problems sending using the address and ports given.
    Thanks!

AT&T told me to change my outgoing email smtp host name to cwmx.com and thta cleared up all my problems. That works for pop 3 and exchange accounts. the only glitch is that you cannot send email while on a wifi signal. You must be on edge network. This has been working for me perfectly.

  • IPad exchange mail different from exchange setup in iMac

I managed to setup my office mail (using "Microsoft exchange") in iPad , but not in iMac
in iPad, there is DOMAIN name that i need to filled, but not in iMac
    any solution?
    Thanks

My tech support folks have run this down. There is a known bug in Exchange 2003 that interacts with Entourage 2004 and 2008.
There are details and a work around at <http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2008/08/useapplescript_to_read_activesync_sent_items_inentourage.html>.
My solution will be to get my mailbox moved to an Exchange server running 2007.

  • Microsoft exchange setup

    hi,
I had my phone setup to receive my work emails and as I've had problems with call drops and lag apple advised a restore and setup as new phone which I have done but can get work email to work now!
Can anyone advise on domain name or server details I.e format of details.
    Thank in advance

No, nothing has changed, but the Restore and set up as new phone deleted the account settings.
You may be able to pull the settings from your computer - in iTunes, with the iPhone connected and selected in the devices list, click the Info tab, then check the box to sync the mail account, and check the box under Advanced to Replace the Mail Account information, then click Apply. If this was how you set up mail on your iPhone originally, this should do the trick. If you input the settings directly on the iPhone, guessing the correct info, you may need to try re-guessing.

You will need to look in Apple's developer documentation
