2.1 ghz 667 mhz airport drops connection after snow install

installed snow 10.6.8 airport extreme and express airtunes drop connection or has weak connection must restart

I have shown the problem to the Genius Bar several times. The great people at the Genius Bar know there is a problem, but they are not getting the answers/solutions they need from corporate.
I believe that Apple Corporate has decided that it is more important to have Steve "market" some new ideas at upcoming developer meeting then to make its existing users happy by solving this problems. Many of us who have been loyal MAC users since the 1980's are being "screwed".
If Steve does not to continue to "razzle and dazzle" at these announcements the Stock Market Analysis get crabby and whinny and say that "Apple" is "bad". Which we know is wrong!!! So us users are held at bay so a big announcement can make the stock analysis happy.
Another American company is afraid of being bushwhacked by the "Mental Midget" Stock Market Analysis who thinks "they" control the economy. People, AMERICANS control the market. Our ingenuity and creativity have and always made this country great, not some "Mental Midget Stock analysis who lacks ethics and morals and filled with self-centered greed think that THEY control the economy.
Over the last 20 years the "Mental Midgets" anylsis have done more to screw up the country the the elected officials. These "MM" anlysis need to get out into the real world and see how they have screwed up our economy!!!!!!!!!!
I think I am a little upset, what do you think????

  • AirPort drops connection after waking up from sleep?

Hi, this situation only occurs on my university campus. My university has a 802.11b wireless network. It makes up about 28 hotspots blanketing the entire main campus, it has a 128bit WEP encryption 26hex and a proxy.
If I attempt to connect the first time, I would get connected. Once I put it to sleep then wake it up, it loses the connection and I would not be able to reconnect (while being bombarded with the error message, "There was an error joining the AirPort name 'xxxxx'") until approximately one hour has passed.
All troubleshooting steps have been tried (deleting p.list files, caches, keychains, reseting AirPort, reseting PMU and PRAM, reformatting HD, you name it, it's been done by my university's computer staff and by a Genius).
I'm currently frustrated not only I can't resolve this issue, but there's finger-pointing from both sides (Apple Genius blaming my Temple Univ wireless network, then Temple blaming on my AirPort's drivers/hardware) and there's nothing conclusive I can prove to both sides (not to mention my MacBook is only 1 week old and only 2 people including me have reported this issue at Temple). I have done one experiment to show that my home Linksys router with 128bit WEP encryption works flawlessly and to testify saying that the previous Core Duo MacBook I had work flawlessly with the Temple wireless network.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
This may not actually "solve" the problem, but it may help you bypass it. On my MacBook, I have a network location called "No Networking". I use this location in between some other networks when I have trouble switching (for example, I can switch from my home AirPort network location to my work Ethernet location without any problems, but I can't seem to go the other direction). The "No Networking" location has ALL of the network ports disabled. This is also helpful if you're on an airplane or somewhere you know you won't be using the network because the AirPort card and the Ethernet port actually use battery power to run if you're not plugged into the AC power. So, turning off the ports saves you a few minutes on battery power. So, when I arrive at home, I switch from my "Work Ethernet" location to my "No Networking" location, pause for a couple of seconds and then select my "Home AirPort" location and everything seems to be fine.
To do this, open the Network System Preferences and use the "Location" pop-up menu to create a "New Location". Give your new location a name like "No Networking". Then select "Network Port Configuration" from the "Show" pop-up menu. Uncheck every port and click the "Apply Now" button.
I have a different network location for each of my possible networking options I encounter. When I have trouble moving between two, I just select the "No Networking" location from the Apple menu and then I select the right network. See if that doesn't help some.

  • Itunes radio drops connection after commercial

Since the newest update iTunes radio drops connection after almost every commercial - sometimes, though rarely, after a song. I solve the problem by changing radio stations and then to switch back to the previous one or restart iTunes. Does anyone have and better solutions? Thanks.

Yep, it does, and sometimes you even have to sign out of your iTunes Store account and back in to be able to play any station once this stoppage occurs. There's no fix a user can implement that I have ever found. It's a server issue that Apple will have to fix.
    Regards.

  • AirPort Dropping Connection

Hello. I've been experiencing some issues with my AirPort 802.11n equipment dropping connections.
The problems usually occur when I'm participatig in bandwidth intensive activities, such as gaming, or streaming movies. What'll happen is that the connection will fail, and I will be unable to see the base station in AirPort Utility.app. Quite simply, it's like there is no base station, even though OS X says I'm connected and have full strength. I am unable to connect until I manually restart the AirPort.
It should be noted that the same issue occurs on the iBook G4 (wifi), MacBook (wifi), and Dell Dimension (ethernet) computers that also utilize the router. Every Mac is running 10.4.10 with the latest updates, etc...
I have already changed the channel (1, 6, 11) with no success and changed the wireless security (WPA2 Personal -> WPA/WPA2 Personal), with no success. I would've taken it back to the Apple store, but I can't find my receipt and believe that it's been > 30 days.
I've also noticed that Network Utility.app has shown a lot of receive/send packet errors, even when simply web browsing.
    So can anyone help?

    Greetings,
I have had the AEBSn since they were first released and I have never had an issue, the same as the one before it, - I have a powered USB hub with two printers and two external harddrives on it and it has never missed a tic.
However, I do have a friend who had a messy network setup using a Linksys AP/Router, a couple of little Netgear switches and other convoluted materials, parts and pieces. His connections were dropping a lot, he told me, and I was asked to look into it.
I disassembled all of it and started fresh. I reset the AEBSn back to factory, removed the Linksys and one of the switches. This was all he needed - no "N" class stuff involved.
When you reset the station, unplug everything from it, use an ethernet cable, reset, power off for a minute. Power it up connected only to the Cable/DSL modem - let it stand for a minute or two picking up all of the necessary input from the ISP, unless you have to put it in manually.
Reset your computers, Mac or PeeCee by removing all previous connection information, leave everything on auto, and then one at a time reconnect to the AEBSn and let them find things on their own. The Windows machines may need a little help, depending on which OS they are running. After a few minutes you should be connected.
Try that and see if it helps. It worked for my friends setup and he has never dropped a connection or lost his harddrive sharing. Thats been over a week of study use. He's a Bit Torrent user, probably stealing music or software - who knows, but he's a happy camper.
    Good Luck,
    M.

  • Problem With Airport Status Icon After Snow Leopard Installation

Everything seemed to go well except on the Menu bar where the Airport status antenna is. Normally it shows a digital timer showing how long my internet connection has been up ( I use PPPoe ). After the install the icon shows that I'm connected to my AEBS, the network is up and the internet connection is up as well, can access mail and all web sites. Airport Utility shows no problems and that the connection is up but that digital timer no longer shows up at the icon. Does anyone have ideas? I did repair permissions and restarted the computer but no luck. And I have show Airport status checked in system preferences.
    John

I too am facing issues with the Airport status icon in the menu bar after I upgraded to 10.6.
My internet connection works fine over Airport, I am even writing this post using my airport connection. When I go into the Settings panel and further into Network I get a green status indication on my Airport connection. So far nothing out of the ordinary.
But, when I look at the status icon on the menu bar the icon is dimmed out, as if I did not have a connection. When I click on it it says that I have not installed an airport card. Though obviously I have!
Anyone else facing the same issue?

  • Brother wi-fi printer loses connection after Mavericks installed.

My printer loses it's wi-fi connection after Mavericks upgrade. If I turn off the printer and then re-start, the connection is re-established for awhile.

I'm having the same issues with my Brother MFC-J6510DW. Worked well for a while but now won't connect to my air or iMac. I've reinstalled all of the latest driver several times now and even when I manually wake the printer up I can't get a connection. I've tried all of the above - DRIVING ME MAD!!!

  • Internet Connections after Snow Leopard Installation

    Hi
I'm having problems with my internet connection since I installed snow. Some times it catches my router signal and some others don't. And when it gets it, then it says is connected but there's no internet signal. I'm sending this message from my work computer using the same internet connection.
    Can you help?
    Thanks!

Try going directly to the internet when wired to your modem. I assume your router worked OK on Leopard. I doubt it would work any differently on SL, but, yes, updating its firmware might be your answer. What kind of router do you have? Many non-Apple routers will work just fine. I have always used Linksys (i.e., Cisco--which makes outstanding routers). Also, have you tried your machine on another network--one in the neighborhood you might "borrow" for test purposes or one at a Starbucks.

  • AIrport dropping connection - new wrinkle

This just started happening for me in the past 10 days. I cart my MacBook Pro back and forth to work. At home I connect through a Linksys wireless router that holds a Sprint Broadband access card. At work I connect through a D-Link wireless router connected to my work network. Both use WPA2 Personnel security. At home there are 3 other users (my wife through an ethernet cable to the router, and my sons through earlier-generation Airport cards).
Work is universally working. At home, however, I am getting the dropoffs described in other threads in this forum. Sudden drop - won't even see the router for 10-30 minutes - then all can be fine for hours before it drops again.
    Quite annoying.
I have reset the Linksys router firmware to the latest version with no help. I applied keychain first aid. I did an entire Archive and Install of my 10.5.2. My hard drive and permissions are copasetic. My parameter ram is so zapped that it weeps when I reach for the P or R keys. No help.
---Ken (does any of this spark a flash of insight in anyone?) Franklin

OK, I have a ritual that works.
When I first wake my computer from sleep (or turn it on), I let Airport find and log on to the home Linksys network. About 10 seconds after I start up my browser, it drops - and I quickly turn Airport off.
Then I wait over 5 minutes, turn it on again, and everything is fine - no dropouts for as long as the machine is on and awake. If I don't wait 5 minutes, it will either not see the network, or try to log on and "connection timeout".
This has got to be a clue. Is there a log that can provide more details? If so, where is it?

  • A1084 AirPort Dropping Connections

I have a A1084 AirPort and it keeps dropping the connection. Sometimes it will drop a connection daily and sometimes it might wait and only drop the connection every couple of days. Is anyone else having similar issues or who could provide me with a solution?

    This is discussed here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1397364&start=60&tstart=0
The problem dates from 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 did not fix it. No-one has a workaround, either. Bad bug, that.

  • Airport Express drops connection after two minutes

    Configuration:
    Airport Express 7.4.1
    iMac running OS X 10.5.6
    Windows XP laptop (Sony)
    Windows Vista Home (Dell)
Windows XP (Packard Bell DOT.NL netbook)
All computers are connecting smoothly through the AEX except the Packard Bell netbook. This is using an atheros AR5700EG WiFi adapter. After establishing contact with the AEX all connections will work for 2 minutes. After that, pinging the AEX is not even possible, it seams to have disappeared. XP however tells me that the connection is 100% OK.
The problem is: this machine works fine with any other WiFi access point like Linksys, Belkin etc, but not with the AEX.
Tried varying all settings in the AEX, and disabling Wireless Zero Configuration in XP, but nothing will fix the problem.

Having the same exact problem except my macbook stays connected with no drops. My toshiba laptop drops after a few minutes. the toshiba also has an Atheros wi-fi card. we tried connecting the Toshiba laptop to another AEX router and it did the same thing. AEX is conflicting either with windows vista or ths particular wi-fi card.

  • Airport Drops Connections - Used to Work Flawlessly for 3 Years

I've read some other posts on Airport but they seem to be able it not working at all...
Mine works once I restart it. It seems to drop about every two weeks, but the thing is that it never used to do this. Ever. It worked fine for over 3 years and now it does this.
Is it just dying? Or is there something I can do to make it work as efficiently as it used to? At first I thought it was my internet connection, but that works fine when I connect through ethernet.
Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

Me and you are in the same boat. Had mine for the same amount of time. Never a problem. Been reading around web post. Suggestion was to downloaded app iStumbler 2 (nothing in it for me, just passing on what I received), the software displays all wireless networks around you. Reason I got the software was in a post I read, it indicated using this app to find if someone around you is on that same frequency. I checked mine and found another network around me is on the same frequency. At the time the express started acting up was about a month ago. I recently new neighbors moved in across the street. I have never seen this network prior to the neighbors moving in (using airport software) and didn't have the problem before they moved in. Just trying to put two and two together. Has anything changed in your area? Maybe a new network same frequency thing? Currently reading about how to change my frequency on the airport express. Hope the information helps.

  • Airport dropping connection frequently w/ large files

I have Comcast Xfinity internet with a pretty fast connection (i recently upgraded to a new modem that gave me a boost) with 1 Airport Extreme and 2 Airport Expresses. Although my speeds are pretty good, pretty much everytime i try to download or upload a large file the internet times out. I think the problem is with the airport because if i turn airport off and on (at the computer) the internet comes back quickly...anyone have ideas of what this might be or are there any good trouble shooting threads people have seen?
