2.1 update failed, now Ipod won't work

So I foolishly paid the 10 bucks to download the new 2.1 update for my ipod touch, and at the end I got an error saying the update failed. So, I have tried to restore, and it gets through the whole process, then gets stuck on "veryfing ipod software...". I'm pretty sure something is wrong because the ipod turns off. Now I can't use my ipod at all. What can I do if I can't get it to restore? THe nearest Apple store is an 8 hour drive?

Are you trying to upgrade to 2.0 in your new user account as well? If not, try that, so iTunes downloads a new copy of that software installer, just in case the one downloaded on your normal user account is somehow damaged or unusable.
If the Apple store isn't convenient, you can call Apple or go online to set up mail in service. They basically send you a box to send your iPod back to them, and then send a replacement out.

Itunes updated and now it won't work.  I unstalled it and reinstalled the older version and reinstalled a older version and it still won't open.  Says the itunes

It says it cannot removed the older version of iTunes.
Doublechecking before proceeding ... what's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a couple of different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • Downloaded Update Software now Ipod is not working - Please Help

Here's the deal I did that now the Ipod just blinks the circle with the line through it and says do not disconnect. Nothing happens. Has the new software corrupted my Ipod? Can anyone Help

  • Computer restarted and now iPod won't work, please help!

I've been using my iPod shuffle since September, and there have been no problems, I updated it with the newest software and everything. Then today, I was changing the songs on it, and right in the middle of updating, my computer shut off and restarted. Now my iPod will not work, and iTunes won't restore it (it keeps saying an unknown error occurred (1415)). How can I get my iPod to start working again?

Follow the instructions in this article if you haven't already done so.

  • New Computer (Windows 7)! Now iPod won't work

I had a Windows Vista computer and the hard drive died, so the computer won't work at all. Just bought a new Windows 7 computer.
I installed iTunes, no problem, but when I plugged in the iPod it didn't recognize it and also now the ipod is 'stuck' on one song. I cannot change it, shut it off, or go to main menu. I have tried everything, but the ipod is completely fozen. I checked hold at the top and that was not accidently moved over or anything.
Tried to plug it in my old computer, but it didn't budge. It wont turn off or anything. I cant even retore it because it doesnt show up on itunes.
What do I do? Please help!! Thank you!

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 7 Professional, ipod class 80G.
itunes and my ipod "freeze," or become unresponsive.
I have to unplug my ipod from my computer without ejecting it, which then remains frozen. I've restored it. The problem continues.
    Please help?

  • Updated laptop, now keyboard won't work. (G585)

Laptop is a few weeks old and I've only just got around to registering it. I couldn't register it until it had an update.
I've downloaded the update and now the keyboard won't work.
I can use keys to increase/decrease brightness of the screen, but nothing else.
I've already tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds, it's just made loading times worse.
    Thanks for any help

    hi VeeBee15,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If you ran Windows Update and you get the issues on the keyboard can, you try to:
    1. Disable Filter Keys (see this thread)
    2. Boot into Safe Mode and see if the keyboard works. If the keyboard doesn't work, perform a System Restore in Safe Mode.
    3. If System Restore doesn't work, perform a full factory restore by pressing the OneKey Recovery button.
    Hope this helps

  • Updated i tunes, now ipod won't work

i keep getting the bubble message, that the device has malfunctioned and can not be recognized...
is there a way to restore without it being hooked up to computer?

I also have the same problem, downloaded the new iTunes and wala ~ my ipod will not hook up to pc or iTunes. I've sent an email to the support area, a very LONG ANGRY message. I suggest we all do this, as it's quite obvious that with all these posts the iTunes update has pretty much made all our ipods garbage. What's the point of having this if I can't sync anymore music/tv shows to it? And I still have 3/4th of my memory empty!!
Message Support everyone, there's power in numbers~!!

  • Computer restarted halfway through update and now AE won't work

    Hi,
I was halfway through updating After Effects to 10.01 when my computer decided to go bluescreen on me and now I cannot start After Effects (even after successfully re-doing the update it won't start).
    I get this error message.
(I see someone else has posted something similar yesterday but two problems on one thread could get messy)
    I am running Windows 7 64bit.
Is there anyway i can quickly solve this without re-installing?
(The rest of master collection works fine)
    Many thanks

Is there anyway i can quickly solve this without re-installing?
Reinstalling is the quickest way and with the CS5 installer it should be perfectly safe. Unlike the crooked CS3 and CS4 installers, it will simply overwrite al lfiles and create a new caps.db, which should fix all issues. You won#t lose any config data, so I'd just do it. You will of course have to run al lthe updates again after that...

  • Firmware upgrade for keyboard failed now keys won't work

    Hi
Hope someone can help, I recently upgraded my sisters intel imac and during the aluminium (USB) keyboard firmware upgrade it failed and now computer doesn't recognise keyboard keys but usb hub on keyboard that mouse is plugged into works fine. Another keyboard works fine which was handy when trying to type in the passwords to try to re update.
    I have tried the following
    1) searched discussions found advice on resetting nvram, and in open firmware (which on further research doesn't seem possible on this imac?) did control, option P R on start up.
    3) EFI firmware upgrade was successful
    4) have used disk utility to repair permissions
    5) Looked in system profiler and keyboard usb hub is recognised but no keyboard. When another keyboard attached it recognises this fine and is in the system profiler
    6) checked all usb ports
Main question - can I fix or do I have to get a new keyboard or perhaps it would be less stress, time wasted etc to just buy a new keyboard???
    thanks
    G

  • Installed Itunes 7.0.2, now Ipod won't work

I updated my Itunes software, like I was instructed to do so when I went into Itunes, and now my Ipod (U2 special Edition with click wheel) will not work at all. Itunes says that the Ipod appears to be corrupted, and I have to restore it to factory settings, but after I restore it, it still doesn't work, and Itunes again says my Ipod appears to be corrupted and must be restored to factory settings. I've already restored it twice, and tried all the other basic troubleshooting tip. Please let me know what I should do.

    Try this.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time, or it gets stuck in the "restore" loop.

  • Updated Bios, Now Overclocking Won't Work

Just updated the Bios from 10.6 to 11.2, changed my overclocking profile to their settings. The base frequency, cpu voltage, ratio, some other voltages can't be changed, they are on auto and won't do anything when I press enter or click on them. I tried the oc genie 2, it didn't change either.

Tried changing the ratio and vcore in the Control Center without any Bios changes, it changed and saved, 4.5 ghz with 1.310v . Then my pc went to blue screen. What would stop the overclocking in this set up:
Enabled: Internal PLL Overvoltage, Execute Disable Bit, Intel Virtualization Tech
Disabled: Limit CPUID Maximum, Power Technology, C1E Support, Overspeed Protection, Spread Spectrum
     Also Turbo enabled.

  • Updated software, now printer won't work

Hi, I updated my software over the weekend to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and now I can’t use my printer.
It’s an Epson Stylus SX235W and anytime I try to print anything it says it’s not connected. Is anyone else having a similar problem, or know how I can fix the issue?
Apple Support was supposed to call me back during the past hour. I'm still waiting, and I really need to use my printer!
    Thank you in advance.

  • IPod touch 3rd generation crashed while updating, and now it won't turn on, and it wont charge or be recognized in iTunes; it's been like this for 3 days now. Please help,..Thanks!

iPod touch 3rd generation crashed while updating, and now it won't turn on, and it won't charge or be recognized in iTunes because it's completely dead; it's been dead for 3 days now. I've tried pressing home/sleep buttons for reset but nothing works, I've tried using different usb ports to charge it, but nothing seems to work. Please help asap. ...Thanks!(:

After charging the iPod for half an hour, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
