2.1 update lost my 3g

Hi
I know everyones had problems with their Iphone I've had a few issues myself, but as it’s a great piece of kit I can live with them untill fixes are found. However one thing I never had an issue with was my 3g connection, wherever I went it was there and strong. After I installed 2.1 my 3g no longer works. At work out and about and at home (I do have wireless but that’s besides the point and is working fine) Where the 3g symbol should be I keep getting a little circle, sometimes E (Edge appears) I have tried rebooting switching the 3g off & on. But I still have this issue.
I can understand how an update can configure your system to boost signal strength but how come mines gone the other way. Now everything else works apart from the 3g Edge is sooo slow its unusable.
Anyone else had this. Any Ideas??

run, don't walk to your cell service store. SO, this is what it's like to have an iPhone 3G ... WOW! Increased 3G everywhere, battery life is much better, and if you use pop3 email, it's works much better as well. The new SIM fixed both 3G and GPS. The Apple store folks thought I just didn't know how to use the phone and walked me through how to turn on and off 3G (very nice about it), since while in the store, 3G worked - my one saving grace was that the greeter at the store's entrance tried and there was no 3G service. After a few more tries it was off again. definitely the SIM. Good Luck to y'all.

IOS 5 Update - Lost Photos, Musik, Apps ?!

iOS 5 - Update -> Lost Data -> Recovery -> More lost data
pretty ****** right now that i lost all my stuff on the iPhone and no Backup recovery in sight. When i updated to iOS 5 i had 2,1 GB of orignial 10 GB left. So i tried Backup recovery now i have 0,49 GB left.
Anyone got a solution ?

you can redownload them and the ones you purchased just repurchase them and it will pop up saying "you already purchased this app, hit ok to download".
You probably did what i did, thinking "sync" was the back-up. its not.
You should have 1. logged into the itunes store, 2. selected "transfer purchased from XX(your name) phone, under File on itunes tabs. 3. then updated to IOS 5.
Back-up would have worked properly then, by installing everything as it was before updating.
I lost all my apps too, and saved data on said apps, so i have to start all my games over again (really *****..i was doing good on all agry birds lol) wife's i learned from my mistake and hers is just fine.

The problem is with the page that opens at startup?
What does the new page look like? Can you paste the address into a reply?
Or if it doesn't have an address, maybe it's a page created by an add-on. Can you see any indication of the source of the page? Perhaps you could post a screen shot of what it looks like. This article has tips on that (make sure to delete to cover anything confidential): [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]
To reduce content size, try the zoom feature: hold down the Ctrl key and tap the - key once or twice. If you want to reset the page to the standard size, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the 0 key once (zero).
But really we should get you back to the page you prefer, and hopefully with the additional details I requested we will be able to figure out what needs to get changed so you can do that.

Youtube is no longer integrated with iOS. You can download the app fromt he app store.. it's designed for iPhone... but states that it works with iPad.
As for running slow... trying holding down the power and home button at the same time for 10 seconds to do a hard reset.
Also.. if you double tap your home button it will bring up a small window across the bottom of your screen... this is called the multitasker.
Hold your finger one of the apps til they jiggle... then tap the red minus button to kill the app. If you kill them all this should help your ipad run alot faster.

IOS4 update = lost contacts, apps crash and cannot sync my music need help

I like many had no problems with updating in the past. I even enjoyed the days off an update just to get to grips with new features. This experience has been abolished with the IOS4. I’ve had my 3G for just over a year (just). I came to update to the IOS4. The update took a long time but I got there in the end. However when iTunes sync came into play is where Im having problems my apps moved across no problems but then I got iTunes couldn’t back up my iPhone because the computer wouldn’t allow. I googled this and came to apples support guide on the matter. which was just delete the back up file in preferences (before I did this I did get a text from someone I know but his name wasn’t coming up just the number I feared then Id lost my contacts) so I did delete my back up. but then the next problem was iTunes couldn’t backup because of an unknown error (-20) (I’ve researched this unknown error and I can’t find anything on it) so I restored the software on iTunes and still I get this error
so now Im left with a iPhone with no music, no contacts, no saved app data even apps crash on start. I read on softpedia (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Apple-Knew-iPhone-3G-Owners-Would-Run-Into-iOS-4- Upgrade-Problems-Customer-Claims-145332.shtml) that an apple employee suggested that apple knew this was going to be a problem and there will be a fix at a later date after the iphone4 and IOS4 rollout and either to wait for this, or buy an iphone 4. To simply buy an iPhone 4 is not an option I bought my phone outright on a payandgo and Im disgusted that an apple employee can even suggest that. now that I know Im not alone on this I want to know just what apple are going to do to fix this asap (for the money I paid I could off got a decent laptop with Skype) I expect and demand a resolution to my problem that isn’t going to cost me more time and money than it already has.

just an update,
after reading that some people who are contacting customer support were having some success in fix/getting the iphone replaced. I decided to do the same after going through some testing with the customer care assistant. he told me that I should uninstall itunes and other apple software and reinstall itunes.
uninstall itunes, quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support in that order
it didnt help me but I have now a referance number and I have to ring back tomorrow. the funny thing was that when the customer support guy was putting me on hold to find this resolution he told me that 'this is strange because we have not had this problem or any problems with our update on this phone'.........
I corrected the man and told him 'well, with respect if you was to go on your support forum you will find page after page of people with similar problems not getting answered'
and now im seeing people are having problems with the iphone4 lmfao

MMS Not Working After 4.2 Update (Lost my Unlimited Plan, too!)

Ah, the return of the new and improved "Viewmymessage.com"
After updating to the new 0S 4.2, I not only lost the ability to send and receive MMS messages (I checked, it's turned on under settings|messages|MMS), but AT&T has conveniently dropped me from the unlimited plan I was on. Isn't that amazing.
I'm going to be giving them an earful early on Black Friday, but was curious to see if anyone else is having this problem. I've found a few people having the problem posting on non-Apple websites, but I expected to find more here.
Anyone else having trouble sending and receiving MMS? Is this an AT&T Thing?

I am having the same problem with Apple TV 2 - My children's movies are showing all songs. Comedy movies the same.
I have changed 8 movies (meta tags) and call them kids movies, go to the Apple TV2 and shows all songs. When I update the genre and called the movies genres "business" it seems to fix it. I don't see any rime or reason.
I can't understand it - never had this problem with Apple TV 1
Thoughts?

I-phone 2.0 update - lost all contacts

This a.m. did the 2.0 update and lost all contacts. Calender good, photos good, notes good, mail good. Did not have on PC but part of download said "backing up information" WHERE?
Did 2nd I-phone right after, before checking the first one, and that download went 100% not loosing anything!
Contacts where different on each phone.

A very similar problem happened to me. Had some issues during the update which I think may have initially caused the problem. Anyway, that was a couple weeks ago. Just today I was trying to figure out a way to restore it again and I got it. Before the 2.0 software is updated the iPhone automatically backups everthing. To restore your contacts, calendar, photos, text messages, and settings following these steps:
1. Open iTunes on the same computer you performed the update on.
2. Connect your iPhone.
3. Right-click on your phone ("Your name's iPhone") under "Devices" in the left column.
4. Left-click on "Restore from Backup..."
5. Select your phone from the drop-down menu.
6. Click Restore.
As I said, this should restore your contacts, calendar, photos, text messages, and settings to the way they were before you updated it. It does NOT revert your phone to pre-2.0 software. The new 2.0 firmware will remain in place!

Mac Mail updated, lost all my emails, iPhone gets emails, iMac doesn't.

I booted my mac which seemed to do some kind of update (this was a few days ago) and mac mail was also updated. However it lost one of my email accounts during the process and all my sent items are gone. I can still find them using spotlight but they dont appear in mail anymore.
What is also strange is that my iPhone is collecting new emails from my pop account (set to leave emails on server) but the iMac never picks these emails up. Its like the iPhone is removing them from the server regardless of settings. I disabled the iphone from collecting email but the iMac doesnt get them still.
The account settings seem ok and I can send emails using these accounts.
So,
1. Why is my iMac not collecting pop based emails that the iPhone gets from the same account?
2. How to i put all the sent emails back into Mac Mail from the hard drive? And where are they?

From what level of OXS and Mail would it have been updating from?
In the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail -- is there only one POP account folder related to this account? Open this POP account folder -- do you see the Sent Message.mbox folder? Does it contain only one Info.plist file and one Messages folder?
Were it not for the failure to receive new messages, I would simply recommend to Rebuild the Sent mailbox, but I think more than that might be needed.

Can you please preview the page in Google Chrome, launch the Developer tools in Chrome (Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Cmd+Option+I on Mac). Click on the Console tab and tell us what error you are getting?

IOS 8 update lost my stats on my game, however the stats are still in Game Center. How to I get the Game Center to update my app?

I've lost my game stats and upgrades because of the IOS8 update. I can see my stats in Game Center , however I've tride signing in and out of Game Center in hope of the information updating in the game app . No such luck . Now Ive never backed up my ipad . Backup error before iOS update - Lost everything - HELP?

Hi all,
I have a problem like many others: while updating iPhone to iOS 5, iTunes encountered a backup error (-50) and I lost all data (photo, video, notes, contacts) saved after the last backup (more than 1 year ago).
Talked with Apple Genius, it seems there is no way to recover lost data from my iPhone... this is very sad.
But I ask if someone has found maybe a solution: is there a chance maybe iTunes left some temporary files (I'm using Windows version) that I can scan? It's extremely important to recover the notes.
Hope someone can help.

All you can do is to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Maverick update, Lost my sent mail mailbox, but the inbox is still there and contains no messages!

I lost my sent box after maverick update, the sent box that used to appear under the paper airplane icon. The inbox is still there, but it contains no messages.
I have tried to Rebuild the mailboxes, removed and added again, restarted my computer, synchronized my account.

Itunes and OS updates lost movies in Video app

I updated both iTunes and OS for our iPad1, now lost movies tab in Video app.
in Itunes, the device shows all 27 files, but when trying to access them from the pad, all I have is a TV shows tab, no movies tab.
Any ideas?

Software update lost photos in iPhoto library

I have read many threads but still have yet to find the golden answer.
No, my time machine was NOT working so no back-up.
I have spent 2 days recovering some from Stellar Phoenix.
Is there anything left to do? Are my photos from the last 3 years gone, gone, gone?
Don't understand why after the disasterous update, the iPhoto Library reverted back to several years ago to albums, photos that I had deleted many years ago but precious recent family photos have disappeared!
If anyone has found THE ANSWER to this horrible Apple disaster, I would love your input and direction.

No, that should be the iPhoto application, not the iPhoto Library. By default the library should be located in your Pictures folder.
Once you locate the library apply the fixe below:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library â Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
