2.1 update  reduces sound quality and volume on Lexus Bluetooth system

I have a Lexus IS250 with a built-in Bluetooth system. Ever since I upgraded to 2.1, I've had to always switch to speakerphone whenever talking in the car, because people are always saying I'm either breaking up, or extremely faint.
I know there's probably not a whole lot that can be done about this issue on my phone, but I just wanted to make it known that I'm having this problem so that Apple is aware of it.
Thanks!

The first thing I would suggest trying is to delete and re-pair the iPhone with your CRV system. (Unless of course, "...restored the system..." means you already did this?) After that, assuming the problem is not cleared, I would perform a test and take a look at the iPhone screen during an incoming call. I'm curious if the display has the CRV selected as source audio.

  • Why is the sound quality and volume in itunes so different than when I use other media players

This is an issue which has been vexing me for some time. I've researched it all over the web and have not found a worthwhile answer. Some other posts on these forums have asked similar questions without successful answers. But, none the less, I will try...
I have spent a lot of time over the last two years trying to get my itunes library organized as well as getting good digitized versions from my vinyl records as well as CDs. I was pleased with my results and then I added the songs to itunes. I could not believe how inconsistent the sound quality was. Invariably the volume is always lower. [Please do not post a reply such as: Check the volume controls in itunes proper as well as in itunes preferences (i.e., Sound Check, Sound Enhancer) & the Volume Adjustment in the Information pane under Options for particular songs.] I tried all of those means of adjusting volume. They do NOT work.
There is something more insidious at work in itunes which prevent good sound reproduction. I will give an example. I have played Frankie Valle and the Four Season's song "C'Mon Marianne" on the OS X system sound (i.e. clicking the play button to the song file when selected on the desktop or wherever it resides) as well as in Amadeus Pro. The song sounds great. When I play it when it's in the itunes' library the first part of the song is too lound and then when Frankie Valle starts singing his voice is at a significantly reduced volume.
I have edited the foregoing song in Amadeus Pro to a very high volume (i.e., Effects>Amplify), reloaded it into itunes and it still does not inprove the volume of Frankie's voice in the song, even though the rest of the song is somewhat louder. I have played with the Equalizer in itunes to no effect. It just does not work.
Now, I would glading move away from itunes and use another media player. However, I have other Apple devices through which I listen to music. And the only way I know of to listen,e.g., on the iphone is through itunes.
The other related problem with itune, or should I say iCloud, is icloud match. The icloud Match has taken great sounding music and given me back music of an inferior quality, even though it is a Matched AAC format.
I'm am sorry if I am a little peeved about this issue. If anyone has some suggestions or input to a solution, I will be eternally grateful. Thanks a bunch.

    fbuerg,
You are welcome. Glad my good fortune was helpful to you.

  • GD580, its sound quality and its specs

I bought the GD580, and found, to my utmost annoyance: the sound quality is way below my cheapo Panasonic micro system. You know what: I paid USD250 for the GD580 and the same for my micro system.
At one point, I thought that because the GD580 included a decoder, it would enrich my sound if I toured the sound from my system through it to the Creative speakers, using the optical cable. Plainly wrong. Bad speakers or bad amplifier, or bad decoder, or all of those reasons.
Believe me, the sound from GD580 is no way as full as the sound from my system:
    - Bass is OK, until you turn up the volume, and it's not bass anymore. I would not call it music.
    - Lower Medium is OK,
    - Higher Medium and Treble are where my little system would give the GD580 a run for its money!!! It's no way as full as I would have expected. Poor me, wrong decision.
Creative has been well known for its speakers and amplifier, I believed, so I was looking for reasons in the decoder itself. Hey, the website lists virtually no useful info. on the decoder specs. I was wondering if it's the same quality part as used in the stand alone decoder DST-100?
My little system states: they use a 24 bit / 92kHz DAC (digital to analog converter). The Audigy 4 uses a DAC of the same specs. Does anyone know if the decoder in GD580 uses that kind of part? Or just because the GD580 uses a 6 bit / 44.kHz DAC, sound quality is inferior to an average system?
What ever the result, I must say: stay away from this GD580. Anyone has any suggestion for a better system? Further info: I use it in an environment no larger than 5 sqm.
Thanks for reading this lengthy message to its end. But I was frustrated indeed.

    Hi softiam,
One thing to note on the MacBook Air, is that it has only one speaker. Unlike all the other Apple portables, there is only one speaker (located in the area of the return, shift, question mark, apostrophe keys).
With mono, versus stereo, sound the quality will sound different but it certainly shouldn't sound washed out. What are you listening to, something through iTunes?
What are you doing on the machine when the fan ramps up? How are you using the machine, is it on your lap, on a desk? What applications are you running?

  • 6th gen Nano: Sound quality and updates?

So I'm looking at possibly getting a 6G nano, couple questions. How is the sound quality? I recently bought a pair of $75 headphones and was very pleased with the them listening on my ipod touch 2nd gen, not so much on my 2nd gen shuffle. Can anyone compare the sound quality of the 6th gen nano to the 2nd gen ipod touch, or even the 2nd gen shuffle?
One feature that may keep me from buying this is the fact that it automatically sleeps after 60 seconds and there is no way to change this. So you have to wake the thing after every 60 seconds, which would be very annoying, especially if you are on a bike. Can/will apple do an update via itunes to add the ability to change these settings? For example the ipod touch has options to sleep after 1,2,3,4,5 minutes and never sleep. Thanks.

I think the sound is really good for such a small device. I don't notice much of a difference between the 6g nano and my 2nd gen touch. I do use better headphones. For exercise I use some sennheisers and also have a $200 pair of Dr Dre monster head phones that sound great! I do have the soundcheck turned on to even out volume levels between tracks.
I biked today with it clipped the left shoulder of my shirt. Yes...you have to hit the wake button to turn on the screen before you can hit the forward to next track button. Not too hard to get used to once you do it a few times. I do wish there was a way to keep the screen turned on ...maybe in a future firmware upgrade.

  • IOS 5 Sound Quality and Sound Check issues

So since upgrading my iPod to iOS 5 the sound quality of my music has deteriorated massively and sound check no longer works as it should.
Tracks sound crackly and audio volume will remain balanced for a few tracks when sound check is on, then all of a sudden become completely unbalanced and all over the place. My iPod is only just about useable, it's a bit of a disaster that its main feature doesn't work as it should.
Everything else in my iOS5 works as it should.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Richard.

Since I bought iPhone4 and listened my songs with "Ipod app" and external speakears I was amazed how brilliant, sharp, intense, clear, perfect bass, perfect trebble the sound was, there was no distortions or saturations ever... The sound quality was just PERFECT with the equalization OFF!!!  Not remember if I had SoundCheck ON before but now it doesn't make any difference. I installed iOS 5 over 4.3.1 or so and now sound is just more like noise compared to iOS 4,  I have selected all presets or equalizations but ALL are poor, maybe some presets work better with some songs but still they are poor.... Songs did not have clarity!! The volume force was like degraded, now I have to set higher volume to produce same force than before with less volume... iOS 5 max volume (100%) is like iOS 4.2.1 85-90% of volume. Difference is that iOS 5 maximum volume starts slightly to distort or saturate audio quality... before with iOS 4 sound quality was Crystal Clear even with max volume!!! In short SOUND QUALITY is DEGRADED... or perhaps I'm a very critical and nonconformist guy in terms of audio quality... this kind of degradation is quite notorious when one loves music!! or is there some other configuration I'm missing here??
    Totally agree with Richard!!
At first I thought it was a problem with my phone... I used to believe iOS 5 was engineered for new iPhone 4S hardware and since it is shipped with dual-core processor, I thought my phone was short in resources!!!
Why max volume is lower in intensity???
Why equalization with the EQ Off changed?? All my songs were stored on iTunes, they must have same sound quality properties as they were when first ripped..
I hope Apple enginneers did not sacrifice volume output force in favor of saving some battery, because normally we charge battery when listening music at home with our personal speakers equipment.
I would like to understand the reasons why the new "Music App" was "changed", and why these changes have to go backwards!! That is sad... because for iPhone or iPod lovers music was always important.
    thanks

  • Sound quality and coolers  on Macbook Air

Hello everyone ...I just bought a macbook air (1.86GHz, 128 SSD...) and I'm quite disappointed by its sound quality .... when I pull up the volume it sounds like worn-out speaker. My old macbook white sounds much much better .
Also it's getting hot and the cooler makes disturbing noise like a desktop machine all the time not only when I run applications. Is this common for all the macbook air(s) or I just need to take him to the doctor ?

  • Sound quality and adjustment

I have a model 32C110U TV and am experiencing poor sound quality (very tinny sounding). I have tried to adjust the audio quality in the sound menu but I cannot detect any change in the various settings that I have made, i.e. if I adjust the bass and(or) treble there is no audible change in the level.
Does anyone have help for this issue?

There is now a fix for this problem you can search for 32C110SNDKT in the top right corner, there is a bulletin that was issued on 10/6/11
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=32C110U&x=9...
I am still trying to find out more and called in since I cannot actually read the bulletin since I am a consumer. So far I have found out that it is not a firmware update but a part repair.

  • For best sound quality should volume be controlled from iPad or BlueTooth speaker?

For best sound quality when listening to music, should the volume be controlled from iPad or from a connected Bluetooth speaker?

For good sound quality, flat response is the most important thing. Take a look at qloud, http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34412, and find yourself a very good microphone.
Then you will probably want to set a global equalizer for your machine. You can try with alsa, http://krustev.net/w/articles/Global_eq … _for_ALSA/.
If ALSA isn't finegrained enough, jack has a lot more flexibility, except for the fact that it doesn't allow you to set default output device, so you will need a helper application to redirect all output connections to your equalizer.
Well, i would say this is quite subjective. Untouched signal is superior to any equalized sound in my opinion, but i know this debate is never satisfying

  • Reduce image quality (and file size)

Is there a simple way to reduce the quality of all backgroung
images ? (there are all bitmap images, about 3 MB each of them)
I imagine that by reducing the image quality, the file size
    will be less huge...
But I wasn't able to find a way to do that...
(the option about JPEG quality in project/preferences has no
effect, because all background images are bitmap... )
    Any idea is welcome !
    Valérie

    Hi Valerie
I have been doing some research on this -- the issue of file
size (relating to both .cp and .swf) crops up a lot on this forum,
so I wanted to find out which were the critical factors relating to
    images.
My findings show that there are two critical factors:
-- Slide Properties: Quality (High, Standard, JPEG,
    Optimized)
-- Format of original image file (used for slide background
    or inserted image object)
To summarize the results of my testing:
    Slide Quality
Changing the slide quality from High
to Standard or JPEG makes little or no difference to the size of
the .cp file but can *significantly* reduce the size of the
    .swf
This is an especially useful way of
dealing with the very large .swf file sizes caused by importing PPT
    slides
    A .swf consisting entirely of
imported PPT slides with complex backgrounds may be reduced to less
than 10% of its original size by changing the quality setting for
each of the slides to JPEG and using a JPEG image quality setting
    of 75%.
    Format of original image file
For complex images such as photos,
the best image file format to use is (oddly) .bmp -- although it
results in a larger .cp file than other file formats (such as .jpg
or .png), it generates the smallest .swf output.
The benefit of using the .bmp format
is less marked if you have set slide quality to Standard instead of
High, but it can still cut the file size of the .swf output by up
    to 50%
For slides using a quality setting of
JPEG, there appears to be no difference in resulting .swf file size
between .bmp or any other image file format
A final comment: it is interesting to compare the size of the
.cp and resulting .swf for different Captivate projects. There is
typically an assumption that the .swf file will be smaller due to
compression. However, this is not always the case. For example, I
tested one project that used High slide quality and images that had
been inserted from .jpg files -- the generated .swf file was over 4
times larger than the .cp file. However, when I changed the quality
setting for all slides to JPEG, the .swf file reduced to less than
50% of the size of the .cp file.
I hope this information is helpful -- please contact me if
you'd like to see the detailed test data.
    Best regards,
    -Matthew Ellison

  • Poor sound quality and distortion

Ever since getting my 27" Imac I've notice the sound quality is poor and bass sounds distort quite a bit and it happens with the computer's speaker, headphones, and streamed audio over the network.
Any ideas on what might be causing this? Sound card or itunes?
    Thanks,
    Terry

Sounds like an audio circuit issue on your logic board--especially if it does it using headphones too. That almost eliminated the speakers. I would contact Apple and get it looked at.

  • Equaliser, Sound Check and Volume make no difference to the Shuffle!

    Hi there
I want to boost the volume of my First Generation iPod so it will sound pretty good on my passive speakers.
However, I notice that adjusting the volume on the iTunes file and adjusting the equaliser makes no difference when playing the shuffle back!!
Also Ive discovered along the way that, although there is an option for sound check, it does nothing either!!
Why put a 'Sound Check' box in the option if it makes no difference?!
Also, how can I boost the output of my shuffle. I cant seem to get the shuffle to 'read' tracks I have modified!
    Tc

You didn't mention adjusting the volume using the control button on the front of the shuffle. I'd expect you'll need to run it up to maximum. Even then, I have my doubts about how much volume you'll be able to get out of even mini desktop passive speakers, although I know they're sold.
If you tried enabling Sound Check (both in iTunes and the shuffle's settings) and adjusting the volume in the song's Info/Options, I wouldn't expect an audible difference since they'd work to cancel each other out.
I've never tried the equalizer at all, but in the past I've used the volume adjustment in a song's Info/Options to adjust for differences between songs. It worked for me, for that purpose. I haven't tried it as an overall volume boost, though.
A utility like MacMP3Gain does a bit better job of normalizing song to song volume than Sound Check, to my ears. I haven't included a link to the program, since this board has disallowed that in the past. It's pretty easy to find, though.
That said, these days I'm just using Sound Check and from time to time tweaking the results with the shuffle's front button. But that's a different application than yours.
    Good luck

  • Nokia N73 Sound Quality and Stereo Speakers

    Hi all,
Nokia N73 has two speakers on the top side and a speaker at the bottom side. It seems that only one the speakers on the top is working. Is this normal?
Also the MP3 sound quality is not very good comparing to Nokia N80 or Sonyericsson K750i. Any opinions about this?

The two speakers must work, but to know if thay work, can´t be like that... seems not... If You have serious doubts, go to a Nokia Service.
About mp3 quality, I don´t note nothing different from N70, N80... Is good quality to my hears!

  • Nokia N95 sound quality and DAC

    [IMG]http://www.cnet.com.au/cnet/i/r/2006/mobilephones/22130769/sc003.jpg[/IMG]
    Hi
Ive been searching everywhere including Nokia for info and was pointed to this forum! ->
Does anyone know any specifics regarding the nokia N95's Sound Quality??
    Specifically:
    1. The DAC used in the N95 build?
    2. The SQ Differences between the N95 and N91 (build and technical)?
    3. The sort of amplification used in the N95?
    4. How the amplification (if any) runs through the 3.5mm jack?
    5. A comparison to the SQ of a staple player e.g IPOD?
    6. Is there a possibility for lineout? (purely a query)
Any help here would be most appreciated !!

Here is the official Nseries specs bout music:
    Music Features
    • Digital music player - supports MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA/M4A with playlists and equalizer.
    • Integrated handsfree speaker
    • OMA DRM 2.0 support for music
    • Stereo FM radio (87.5-108MHz /76-90MHz) with Visual Radio support
And I also learnt it has 8 band equalizer.N91 has a special music chip [forgotten who has made it] that was created to beat specially IPOD.Now IPOD has been redesigned but sound still sucks.
Already iREAVER, ZEN has beaten ipod.
I saw a tendency that whoever own this model barely [includin me] support this as best.
But its only upto nokia to keep it still best even after N95 released or not.
Instead can make another model over or as successor.
Plus, I donk think so mainly because y know HDD expansion is easier than SD MMC systems.
And play videos and songs better.
I am sorry that I could not give y a more depth technical feature.
But the fact is IT IS A MUSIC CHEAP ON WHICH LEADIN MUSIC COMPANIES GREATLY RELY ON.
And for nokia it is not impossible to make slightly inferior or superior to N91 Like sound machine and eventually all [music] phone will have this GOOD sound quality as standard....just a thought.
Hope y understand wat I mean.
