2.2.1.23 Sync Issue 'Possible' Fix

Sorry if this is already out there - there are so many posts, I wasn't sure.
Like so many of you I have had sync issues with the latest update - 2.2.1.23
I got the following reply from Nokia Customer Services when I sent them a **bleep** email and having followed this, my N95 now syncs automatically again on 2.2.1.23
I think the secret is in 5,6 & 7 as I had tried everything else.  If, like me, you are running Vista, for 5 & 6 look for and delete any Nokia folder in C:\Users\<my user>\AppData
1. Disconnect phone from PC
2. Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs.
3. Uninstall ALL Nokia software. The Ovi, driver, software updater etc etc.
4. Restart windows
5. Once restart is complete, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Application Data.  Delete all Nokia folders
6. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Local Settings\Application Data and delete all Nokia folders
7. Go to C:\Program Files\ and delete all Nokia folders
8. Download latest Nokia Ovi suite from the web (Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe)
9. Install latest Nokia Ovi and try to resync again.
Good luck one and all

Sorry folks - bad news - it has failed again and now it is worse than ever.
I will update if I get a fix.

  • Nokia N8 "redish" dysplay issue (possible FIX!)

I was comparing phones with a friend today (we both have the N8) and he has an "display bug", that I experience in a very low percentage.
We had the idea to test using the Light Sensor. It worked. When he put direct light into the senzor, forcing it to give the display maximum power and no "worked" colors (in the same way the HDMI outputs), the bug completely went away.
So this tells me it is a software issue, probably the driver for the video chip needs some rethinking.
I've posted this here in hopes that someone from the Dev team would come across my post and fix the software. The bug is best viewed opening the attached image.
Thank you and have a nice day

Hi. i had a problem with autenthification for my phone, invalid pre-shared wpa key error message. i had to put my wireless router on discoverable mode(unhide your SSID). this is a security change to your wi-fi router, note that you're going to be more vulnerable(but still you'll have the wep/wpa keys activated, so you dont have to worry about hat.) this fixed my problem, hope will fix your too.

i found the solution myself!!!...what i did was, i went to Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet > Options > New access point > clicked on the wlan that I wanted to add and that's it! I can connect now to the wi-fi connection in my home... hope this could help others

  • PHD - 10.5.2 - New sync fail- possible fix

Upgraded clients and server from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2, and clients stopped syncing.
checked logs on client, and noticed that sync starts ssh to server
checked server log and showed that client can't ssh because login shell set to /dev/null.
Changed clients in WGM to have /bin/bash.
    sync now working.
    Apple, What did you do?

This may not have been a change on apples part, although it certainly feels like they changed sync from afp to ssh, and for users to use ssh they need to have shell.

  • Encountered just about every issue possible trying to sync music to iPod Touch after 8.1

If you're having any sort of syncing problems after the updates, bear with me as I tell my tale. Hopefully you can find yourself relating.
I have an fifth generation 64gb iPod Touch. Ever since I've updated to iOS 8 (then 8.1), I'm beginning to look at it as useless. I know there are all sorts of threads out there about people having difficulty syncing their music after the update, and I'm probably not covering any new ground, but I thought it was worth reporting every problem I've encountered and all the fixes I've tried.
I have a large music collection. Around 7000 tunes. They're all safe and backed up to my iTunes library on my MacBook Pro. I was aware that updating the iPod to iOS 8 might cost me a considerable amount of storage space, so I did it cautiously. I did it through iTunes, and I had no real issues. It didn't take up the huge amount of space it did for others. But my music collection on the device became all sorts of screwed up. Suddenly I was missing entire albums and artists. What albums and artists were still there often only had the first track of the album. Many songs were kicked off the device itself and I had the option to download from the cloud (I assume that's what that button meant). For about two weeks, I was too busy to listen to music, so I put the problem out of my head.
Last week I finally decided I needed to get around to fixing it. I plugged it into my USB port, and iTunes told me I was 20+ gb over capacity, with the 'Other' bar taking up most of the storage. I only had a few photos and apps on my iPod, but I deleted them anyway. I started going through my iTunes library and haphazardly deleted albums I figured I could go without. None of this even put a dent in getting more storage space. I quickly realized that I still needed to update my MacBook to OS X Yosemite, as well as get the accompanying iTunes update.
After the (justified) hours and hours of updating everything (absolutely everything I'm discussing is on the latest update), I plugged my iPod back in, and surely enough, the capacity bar reflected the actual amount of music I had. I had a good nine or ten GB to spare. 'Other' was barely taking up any space. I was elated, so I clicked sync. iTunes quickly jumped to either Step 4 of 4 (Waiting for Changes to be Applied) or 5 of 5 (Preparing to Copy Items) and hung. I gave it close to 45 minutes, and nothing was transpiring. I tried over and over. I'm not syncing via wi-fi (although I did try that). I'm syncing manually. I tried every permutation possible. Syncing only checked artists and albums (checking all those artists, by the way, takes a good fifteen minutes), syncing the entire library. Everything. After reading about people having similar issues online, I decided I may as well reset my iPod completely and set it up as a new iPod.
Again, I don't use my iPod for photos or apps, so I'm not having to worry about losing anything in the process of resetting. There's no need to restore from back-ups- all my music is in the my iTunes library. I don't really "do" iCloud, and any restore points on my computer are automatically done and unnecessary. After resetting, I tried to sync. Again, straight to the last step of the syncing process. I was patient, but clearly nothing was going to happen. I must have reset my iPod and set it up as a new device about five times. Finally, I got a sync to seemingly start working. I watched as all my music started turning black in the 'On My iPod' screen. I periodically checked the device itself, and noticed that, arbitrarily, I was only getting random tracks from albums, often the first track (for instance, I have every Beatles album, but I was getting one track per album on the device). When it finished syncing, I clicked on the tunes listed under 'On My iPod,' and found that many of them popped up with an exclamation point, indicating, I assume, that the song was unable to sync.
I reset again. Multiple times. Trying everything. I finally decided to sync only checked songs, and I checked one artist (embarrassingly, ABBA). Surely enough, the full ABBA album synced fine. I slowly started checking more and more artists. It was working. I got all the way to the bottom and watched as everything started syncing as it should. Entire albums were showing up on my device. Half an hour later, everything was synced, and I couldn't have been happier. I disconnected the device and went to listen to some music, only to find that everything was gone. Everything that I just watched sync perfectly to the device. I had no content on the device. Nothing at all. I reconnected it, and suddenly I was grossly over capacity again (I wasn't at all when the sync had finished). The bar did not, at all, reflect the contents of the device (in fact, I had nothing on the device at this point).
More resets. Again, I would get either no syncing at all, or only getting one or two tracks from artists. Finally, I called Apple Support while it was syncing again to explain the problem. The man said he's been getting vaguely similar reports. I told him that it appeared to be syncing properly as we spoke, but that I was confident I would lose all my music again once the sync finished. He stayed on the line, and bizarrely, out of nowhere, it synced perfectly. I disconnected the device, and I had a fully functional iPod again. For the past week, I've had no issues with it. After this successful sync, by the way, I was told I had 8.7GB of free space, which I would call accurate. The 'Other' was hardly there.
This morning, I added some new albums to my iTunes library, so I connected the iPod and clicked sync. Nothing. The new songs showed up on the 'On My iPod' screen, but they were greyed out with the loading circle. I waited an hour as it hung at 'Waiting for Changes to Be Applied' or 'Preparing to Copy Items'- I forget which, but I became accustomed to both. I was only adding maybe fifty new songs, but no progress was being made in terms of syncing. They remained greyed out. Not wanting to reset the iPod, I called Apple Support again. The man remotely accessed my screen and seemed quite puzzled. He saw the almost 9GB I had to spare. He had me click some of the obvious settings I'd tried time and time again. Finally, he had me, for a third time, switch from 'Sync Checked Songs' to 'Manually Manage Music and Videos.' He and I witnessed the capacity bar immediately change to 42GB over capacity! 42GB! He accused me of legitimately being 42GB over capacity (I'm not mad at him- he was very nice, by the way), and I pointed out how ridiculous that was. He agreed. After more and more troubleshooting, I told him it was a lost cause, and my only hope was to reset the iPod again. I realized that, from now on, whenever I sync new music from my library, I'm going to have to reset the device and sync from scratch. I got off the phone with him and did just that.
Two attempts failed, again hanging at those dang last steps. I was patient as can be, understanding how much music I had. An hour later, nothing. I tried once more, syncing artists slowly at a time, and suddenly, arbitrarily, it chose to miraculously sync perfectly. I walked away from the computer and iPod and took a long walk to clear my mind. I came back, and looked at the 'On My iPod' screen. Every song was black and on my device. I turned on my device, and... one track per album. When I clicked the songs that were allegedly on my iPod, I was getting exclamation marks, and they wouldn't play. The songs that sync and don't sync are entirely arbitrary and change every time. It's not a matter of corrupted files, I don't think. If it were, I would expect the same songs to be giving me the difficulties. The capacity bar offered an accurate reflection of what my device would be if everything were, in fact, synced. Even though only probably 10% of my library had made it to the device, iTunes told me that everything was synced and was taking up the appropriate amount of space. I disconnected the device, turned it on and off, quit iTunes, restarted my computer. I connected the device again, and the capacity bar now told me I had almost nothing on my iPod. I checked, and the iPod, once more, was devoid of content.
I have no idea what to do. I'm at a complete loss. I don't get it. I've tried nearly every fix that has been suggested online. I've tried all the different ways of syncing. I'm not syncing voice memos. I don't have any strangely titled tracks. I don't have any tracks that are unattributed to an artist or album. I have no duplicates. I have OCD, so my iTunes library, though vast, is kept in tip-top shape, and everything is ordered and tagged perfectly.
Wow. Hold the phone. I'm currently both overjoyed and even more flabbergasted. As I typed this long message, I left my device plugged into my computer. I didn't start a new sync- just left it plugged in. I happened to look at it just now, and, um, everything is synced. My iPod is working again. Still, this has become an ordeal that needs to be addressed. I'm scared to death of what will happen next time I want to sync new music to the device. I suspect more and more hours of resetting and fiddling with options. I want to stress enough that I'm positive this isn't a matter of me not being patient enough. Often times, I do indeed cut the sync short when no progress appears to be made, but I just as often leave it running for long periods of time.
This whole thing leaves me very on edge. Even operating the device scares me, because I'm getting excessive lags, and I'm worried that at any moment, the music will be gone again.
Anyone else going through this ordeal? Specifically these problems, or, like me, all of them at different times? Anyone randomly find that they're occasionally almost humorously over capacity? I'd like to hear your input. On my end, the only fix I've found is to just keep resetting the iPod as a new device over and over again until it eventually works properly. Again, this is pretty effortless (though time-consuming) for me, because I don't have any pictures or apps to restore. I use it solely for music. I can't imagine the stress of worrying about losing items other than music. Is this general and bizarre syncing problem just a bug that will eventually get fixed? Is Apple aware of it? When you've faced as many dead-ends as I have, it's hard to specifically articulate the problem to them. Can anyone relate or offer any fixes?
Again, using a 64GB fifth generation iPod touch updated to 8.1. 2GB non-retina MacBook Pro. OS X Yosemite. iTunes 12.0.1.26.
I also have a 64GB iPad 4, and I'm still debating whether or not to update it.

Kind of a similar issue with me.
I've got an ipod touch that I use for my music only.  The vast majority of what I have loaded in my iTunes library on my laptop is music I've imported into iTunes from my cd collection.  I have several albums that came from non-iTunes digital purchases (cdbaby, amazon, etc), and then guess a few hundred albums purchased from the iTunes store.
Everything seemed to work fine with ios 7 but once I upgraded my ipod to ios 8  I started having sync issues.  My problem seems to be isolated to music that I did not purchase from iTunes (which is currently most of my music).  I'll sync the ipod with my iTunes library on the laptop and I end up losing all non-iTunes purchased content on the iPod.  The albums still 'show' on the iPod screen but once I select one to play it quickly scrolls through all the tracks and comes back to the screen showing the tracks with the red circle.  If I go check the number of songs on the iPod in the settings>general>about option it will now have deceased the total number of songs by the number of tracks that were on the album.
I'm not a 'technical' type of user so everything I was trying to correct the issue was pretty much just change settings options in iTunes on the laptop and/or settings on the iPod without any real knowledge or confidence that it would help.
Eventually I gave up and deleted all content on the iPod and restart it as a 'fresh out of the box' iPod. It took several attempts at that to get all my songs copied from the laptop back to the iPod. After several attempts I finally thought it might have to do with the iCloud feature on the iPod (since it was only syncing iTunes purchased items and ignoring everything else not purchased via iTunes I thought it might be trying to verifying the items before actually loading them).
I completely set up the iPod again but used the option to not use iCloud (I don't use it to back up/store anything anyway). That attempt resulted in all my songs/albums syncing from the laptop to the iPod.  Everything seemed to working fine for the past few months but then it happened again the other day. I had purchased a cd and imported it into my iTunes library... plugged in the iPod to sync everything and it wiped out all the non-iTunes purchased content again.
I deleted all the content off the iPod and did the 'out of the box' setup again and everything synced. Then this morning I purchased an album off of iTunes, hooked up the iPod to sync and again, it wiped out everything except my iTunes purchases.
This is getting beyond frustrating.  The reason I've gone with apple all these years is because they are supposed to be 'idiot proof' for those of us that have a lot of knowledge of how/why all this works.

  • Quick Fix to iTouch Syncing issues

I too have seen the problems mentioned in the forums about the ipod touch syncing issues with the january software upgrade option... And i have seen the quick fix that allows you to get it to sync. I will post it here so that eveybody doesn't have to scroll down to the bottom of a topic or search through topics. Please don't reply to keep this a clean topic so others can easily access the information.
    *Disconnect iPod Touch from computer.*
    *Disconnect computer from internet.*
    *Reconnect iPod Touch to computer.*
    *Start syncing editing ... whatever*
    *Reconnect to internet*
This should hopefully allow you to start syncing again, it is not the ideal solution and I do hope the apple engineers can find a permanent solution. And thanks to the guys who posted the original instructions, I do not in any way take credit for the instructions, only making them more accessible.

I REALLY appreciate your help.  Your fix worked and relieved a lot of frustration.  I have HP everything (Printer, lap-top, desk tops)  and was upset there wasn't an obvious "contact" option in the support web-site.  I knew if I was allowed to describe the problem, a bright person like you would respond.

  • Sync SHARED Outlook calendar with iPhone (possible fix!)

    Hey all,
My business uses a shared calendar in Microsoft Outlook 2007. Our personal calendars sync fine. However, the shared calendar does not appear in iTunes.
POSSIBLE FIX: If you create a local copy of the shared calendar by clicking and dragging from Public Folders to Calendar in Outlook, it will appear in iTunes and will sync.
QUESTION: How do I automate this process, so that a local copy is created whenever the shared calendar is updated?

    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.

  • Why Wont Apple Fix AUDIO / VIDEO Sync Issues

This has been a problem for awhile. Thank god there is a application fix but im receiving an iTouch very soon and I'm not sure if the same problem is going to be on that to..
It might be how Quicktime reads .MP4 and .M4V Files but i can play the videos on VLC and Zune Software fine..
I see other people posting this exact same problems. I see no answers... Apple Knows this is an issue. Why wont they fix it.
From what im hearing it is the audio that is going out of sync from the video.
    Now my Final Question is
"Is this just a Software issue for the computers or is it also a Software issue (Assuming that quicktime is the software on these devices) for the iTouch / iPhone ?

well i got my itouch today and it seems that the audio and video sync issues are only on the computer distributions of quicktime and not the hand held device versions

  • HT4528 Is there a fix for calendar sync issues between iPhone 4S and Outlook?

My boss has an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0.1 and a Microsoft Exchange 2003 email account and has consisent sync issues with her calendar. The problem only seems to come up with calendar invitations. Usually, when people send her calendar invitations the events get added to her Outlook calendar on her PC but not on her iPhone. More recently she also sent out invitations through Outlook that also didn't appear on her phone. She has also accepted invitations on her phone that did not appear on her PC. The problem seems to have gotten worse more recently.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I tried deleting the calendar through the phone's settings and re-installed it but it didn't solve the issue.

There was a reported issue with Exchange and iOS with re-occuring meeting invites.  Not only did it cause issues on the device, but on the Exchange server side it created huge logs and high utilization on the CAS.  This was an issue on iOS 6.0.x - 6.1.3 (at which time it has been fixed from 6.1.3 on).  This was attributed to the iOS version and happened on all devices (not just the 4s).
I am not sure if this is what your employee is experiencing or not - but this is one that we had, and we asked all running iOS 6 to upgrade to the most current release (oddly enough, we did not see this in iOS 5.x devices).

  • Will there be another softerware update SOON to fix the syncing issue iOS 6.14 caused?

Will Apple offer another update SOON that will FIX the syncing issues?
I have tried EVERYTHING: backups, restarting phone, uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, etc. . NOTHING WORKS
I look forward to having my phone sync to my computer so I can save all my information on my external hard drive.
This issue has been occurring ever since I downloaded and updated the iOS 6.14 software.
Everyone is having this same issue, if anyone knows a way to "fix" it please let me know, if not. . . APPLE I need you to begin working on a solution. Thanks!

    False.
You are not addressing Apple here.  We are all Apple users, just like you.

  • FCP audio sync issue, attempts at fix result in dodgy files - help!

    Hello,
I have some Sony EX1 footage here in which 20 out of 500 QT files FCP will play the audio out of sync by either 14 or 19 frames (picture lags) - when shooting no changes were made to settings which were as follows:
    1080/25P HQ 16-bit 48Khz
weird thing #1: only FCP will exhibit the out of sync problem, QT or even quickview in the OS X finder will play them back fine ...
weird thing #2: once I export the footage without re-syncing it it will then play fine again in QT/finder and will sync fine in FCP - yay! - no... it will beach ball and/or lag/crash FCP/QT/finder once I attempt any sort of movement/scrubbing in any of the timelines
attempting to work with the original un-synced footage and unlinking the audio (and correctly syncing it) as a workaround has failed as whenever I put on any video effect/transition or whatever the effected part will sync correctly and my smarty pants re-sync therefore makes it out of sync again ! arrrrgh!
Basically, anytime I effect or export it the sync issue goes away, but I am left with crashy/corrupted files ...
    Any suggestions ?

    hillr wrote:
the audio clip is the same length as the video clip. it is not a matter of moving the audio over to sync it up. the audio falls behind by the time it gets to the end. it is just fine at the start of the video and out of sync at the end. If I would sync up the end then the front will be out of sync. All I did is capture the footage from my deck to FCP and then placed it in the time line.
    Russell
This is not correct but it's easy to arrive at that conclusion. The two clips aree not the same length by your definition: *the audio falls behind by the time it gets to the end*
Mark the place where the audio ends, mark the place where the video ends. They are different and that difference is a simple matter of subtracting one timecode location form the other. This means the audio was shot at a different sampling rate than that with which it was captured. I do not know anything about the DSR400 camera or your deck, my Sonys are different, but you should be able to ascertain the sampling rate of the audio by checking the data display. If, indeed, it's 48k, you have sent the audio to a separate folder than the video and your disk cannot keep up. But that sync difference is not absolute so it's going to be different each time you play it back.

  • How do I fix my iphone? (SYNC ISSUES)

    So, heres the deal.
    IOS7 crashed my phone
    Iphone 4S 16GB.
HOW DO I GET IT TO WORK??
I randomly lose contacts, email (FULL ACCOUNTS), photos, texts, even though I STOPPED AUTOSYNC.
I figured the software was corrupt so I would jsut use the phone without any more sync issues.
However, I'd wake up in the morning and find a phone with no or partial contacts. I would have no email accounts...or DOUBLE accounts.
I would not be able to send texts.
    Its random crashes.
HOW DO I GET MY iPHONE BACK???

Oh, I forgot to mention my calendars go missing randomly.
all of my appointments dissappeared a few times. I'm getting tired of thave to re-add them all.

  • Premiere Pro audio sync issues with 48khz audio on video file and 44.1khz audio on external audio

So, I recorded video and audio on my Canon 5D Mark II at 1080p, 23.976 fps, and 48khz, 16-bit Stereo audio. And I used a Zoom H4 to record an mp3 audio file at 44.1khz Compressed. When trying to sync the audio in Premiere Pro CC, the audio slowly loses sync over time. I already tried to convert the 44.1khz mp3 file to 48khz in Adobe Audition. But that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

There's always time-stretch changes to the audio file with "keep pitch unchanged" checked, I suppose. Mind you, I've heard of people doing it but haven't done it myself. There's other possible options I'm sure. There's been quite a few threads here on time-sync issues over time.

  • Possible Fix for the 3.1.1 app crash problem

THIS IS A POSSIBLE FIX ONLY!!!
So like many of you I upgraded to 3.1.1 and after the update all of my apps would no longer work. They contiually crashed to the home screen when I tried to open them. I tried downloading random new apps, deleting all my apps and re-installing them with no luck. I tried reseting the iPod and even restoring it through iTunes. I also tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer. None of these things worked for me. Today I tried to go back to the 2.2.1 update (which is the only one I could find that would download) when I tried to upload that onto my iPod I got an error #20 so I ended up restoring back to 3.1.1 the only difference was i told iTunes to start my iPod as a new one instead of loading it from a backup. This actually worked, the only downside was I lost my favourited websites and all the saved info in my apps but hey, atleast they work.
So long story short try wiping your iPod clean and restoring as a brand new one with the 3.1.1 and it might just just work.

I just purchased the 64GB iPod touch and it had the same issues from the start. While I had the same issue with the apps I also had intermittent problems with movies not working. I reset the entire iPod touch 64gb and re-synced as 'new' (described earlier) and it is working for now. I am planning on loading some new apps and movies and re-syncing to see if it stays working.
Also, I upgraded from 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 and everything stopped working again. I am staying on 3.1.1 as long as this solution keeps working until I see something from Apple addressing this issue.
Apple usually does a better job with their software. I am hoping that this is only a software issue and not a hardware issue.

  • Why do Encore CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 have intermittant Sync issues?

I am noticing that Encore CS5 is "buggy" regarding sync issues with material edited by Womble and Corel Video Studio and I am guessing other programs as well?
In high definition I take AVCHD and  edit in Corel Video Studio.  If I leave the project as one single 42 minute segment and import this asset into Encore CS5, more often than not there are bad sync issues.  To get around this I have to divide the 42 minute project into approximately 6 smaller ones- Each smaller asset ends where I had done the editing.  Encore does not have any problems now with these 6 smaller assets.
In standard definition I edit in Womble and export as a MPEG2 Program.  Sometimes Encore has a problem with the asset sync and sometimes it does not.  (I am guessing about 20% of my assets end up with a problem).  The same asset if brought into TMP or brought back into Womble does not have any sync issue.  If brought into Premiere Pro CS5 it will exhibit the same behavior as Encore- If Encore has a sync problem, so will Premiere Pro.  So to get around this I then have to go back to the original womble file and break it up into smaller pieces, at every edit point I cut and export the smaller file just after the end of the transition I applied.  With a 6 hour project I may end up with dozens of small files to get around this problem- not very efficient.
Any ideas how to fix this or why Encore is so buggy?  Would moving the original assets around in Womble- example taking something that was at the end of the timeline and then moving it to the beginning cause these issues for Encore?   Or is there some other cause?
    Encore CS5
    Premiere Pro CS5
    Windows 7 64 BIT
    Quad core
    2.4 GHZ clock speed
    6GB memory
150 GB free space on drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 card

I've used VideoReDo in the past, which I believe has some similar strategies to Womble.  I found when I tested streams, that there were often problems in the source streams, and that the fix was not 100 percent.
You may also find such files that are not 100 percent the same length video to audio.
In any event, the possibility other than Encore being buggy is that the files you are bringing in have problems when Encore tries to validate them.  I'm not saying Encore doesn't have its problems, but clean mpeg files do not have sync issues ordinarily.
For some scenarios, I like your workflow (edit mpeg files in a frame accurate mpeg editor that is not retranscoding the whole file), but the results are often not consistent.
You don't say, and I would certainly look at, the nature of the audio stream you are using.  I can not tell you what the problems are, but some streams just do not edit well, even though they may play back okay in some players, but still have issues in Encore and/or Premiere.
